• Listing mysql row entries from tags into one single row

  Hi guys, Ive got two tables, one a listings and another representing a list of tags for the listing table. In the listings table the tag ids are stored in a field called tags as 1-2-3- this has worked out very well for me regular expressions and joins to seperate and display the data, BUT... I now need to pull the titles of those tags into a single row. See below. listings table id tags 1 1-2-3- 2 4-5-6- tags table id title 1 pig 2 dog 3 cat 4 mouse 5 elephant 6 duck And what I need to produce out of the listings table is: id tags 2 mouse, elephant, duck any suggestions?

• Access Edit Mode Values of BindingSource Control

  I have a BindingSource control (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.bindingsource.aspx) with a datasource of a (single) Linq object. If I change any of the properties of the underlying Linq-to-Sql object then all the other changes on the bound controls on the form are lost. Does anyone now why and how I work around it? I don't want to call EndEdit because this will commit the changes to the underlying object. I think this might be because my underlying object linq-to-sql object does not implement IEditableObject so the potental new values for the object fields are sort of stored in the forms controls. Can anyone either clarify what is going on and/or suggest a work around. Thanks!

I'm trying to find a math function or full 3d function in php or a similar language that can help me with the following effect: imagine if you were to take a flat sheet or paper and glue it on a glass of water. It wouldn't be flat any more. It would have a curve, and one of its sides might end up being slightly hidden. Anyone can refer me to a good library or resource on the web where such functions can be found?

• jQuery slide up/down on hover bug

  Hi! I have one large div with one smaller div inside it. The smaller div is at first displayed as hidden. When the user hovers the mouse over the large container-div the smaller div is animated in with the show/hide-functions. So far everything works fine. However. The smaller div is animated in from the bottom - so if I let the cursor hover over the container at the very bottom, it's hovering over the animation of the smaller div while it's sliding in. So now the cursor is hovering over the smaller div instead of the larger div, and thus triggering the hide-function on the smaller div. This creates an infinite loop of show/hide calls as the smaller div slides in and out of where the cursor is pointing. Any ideas how to avoid this and not break the hovering on the container as the smaller div enters?

  I have Decimal field in SQLserver 2005 table, Price decimal(18, 4) if I write 12 it will be converted to 12.0000, if I write 12.33 it will be converted into 12.3300. Always it's putting zero to the right of the decimal point in the count of Scale Part(4). I was using these in SQL Server 2000, it was not behaving like this, in SQL Server 2000 if I put 12.5 it will be stored as 12.5 not as 12.5000 what SQLServer2005 do. My Question is how to stop SQL Server 2005 from putting zeros to the right of the decimal point?

  Hi all, I have a scenario where I need to localized values of objects in my database. Let's say you have an application that can create animals, if the user is english the value of the "Name" property of an animal would be entered as "Cat" in the UI whereas it would be entered as "Chat" in french. The animal culture table would contain 2 records pointing to the same animal in the parent table. When reading values back, if the value of "Name" does not exist in the user culture the default value (value the object was originally created with) would be used. The following diagrams demonstrate how the data is stored in SQL: I'm trying to map this schema to an object model using the Entity Framework, I'm a bit confused as to what the best way to approach the problem.   Hi folks: I've got the Day of the week stored in a database table (that I do not control), and I need to use it in my code. Problem is, I want to use the System.DayOfWeek enum for representation for this, and the sequences are not the same. In the database, it's as follows: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 S M T W T F S I need it as follows: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 M T W T F S S What's the most elegant way to do this? for example, I could do: i = dayOfWeek; i = i - 2; if (i < 0) { i = 6; } but that's a bit inelegant. Any suggestions?

This functions as expected in all browsers apart from IE7, where if I scroll the list to choose a time lower down in the list, the list dissapears..   Hi, I am wanting to create a Where statement within my Linq statement, but have hit a bit of a stumbling block. I would like to split a string value, and then search using each array item in the Where clause. In my normal Sql statement I would simply loop through the string array, and build up there Where clause then either pass this to a stored procedure, or just execute the sql string.   We are writing a SaaS like solution that requires our customers to SCRIPT SRC some javascript code we are building (think Google Analytics scenario). We would like to use JQuery. However, since our customers might already have conflicting JQuery versions or other conflicting frameworks (prototype.js for one) we cannot tell them to source jquery.js. We were thinking of coping the jquery source as to create a 'private' jquery instance and simple search/replace the JQuery and $ functions with myJQuery and $J Is there any reason for this not to work? has anyone tried something like this?   Imaginary Situation: You’ve used mysqldump to create a backup of a mysql database. This database has columns that are blobs. That means your “text” dump files contains both strings and binary data (binary data stored as strings?) If you cat this file to the screen $ cat dump.mysql you’ll often get unexpected results. The terminal will start beeping, and then the output finishes scrolling by you’ll often have garbage chacters entered on your terminal as through you’d typed them, and sometimes your prompts and anything you type will be garbage characters. Why does this happen? Put another way, I think I’m looking for an overview of what’s actually happening when you store binary strings into a file, and when you cat those files, and when the results of the cat are reported to the terminal, and any other steps I’m missing.

  I'm trying to implement a function that generates dynamic queries for MNesia. For example, when function is called with these arguments; dyn_query(list, person, [name, age], ["jack", 21]) I want to query MNesia to list items whose name is "jack" and age is 21 in person table. I've tried to implement this by using qlc:q(ListComprehension) and qlc:string_to_handle("ListComprehension"). First failed because of compile errors, compiler didn't let me to use functions instead of ListComprehentions and variables instead of record names like "Item#Table.Member". Second failed, because erl_eval couldn't handle records and throwed exceptions like {undefined_record, person}. Which method should I use? How could i solve these problems? Or should I use a different method? Thanks.

When user selects one of these files and clicks "delete", we need to delete the file from blobstore. The problem I am running into is that strings that can be boolean in CF such as Yes,No,True,and False are converted into JSON as boolean values. Below is example code. • Minimizing SQL queries using join with one-to-many relationship

  So let me preface this by saying that I'm not an SQL wizard by any means. What I want to do is simple as a concept, but has presented me with a small challenge when trying to minimize the amount of database queries I'm performing. Let's say I have a table of departments. Within each department is a list of employees. What is the most efficient way of listing all the departments and which employees are in each department. So for example if I have a department table with: id name 1 sales 2 marketing And a people table with: id department_id name 1 1 Tom 2 1 Bill 3 2 Jessica 4 1 Rachel 5 2 John What is the best way list all departments and all employees for each department like so: Sales Tom Bill Rachel Marketing Jessica John Pretend both tables are actually massive. (I want to avoid getting a list of departments, and then looping through the result and doing an individual query for each department). Think similarly of selecting the statuses/comments in a Facebook-like system, when statuses and comments are stored in separate tables.

The reason is that if you simply python program.py > out then the file out will have the ANSI color codes, which look terrible if you open in a plain text editor. Any advice?

• UIImage Rotation

  I display an image in a UIImageView (within a UIScrollView) which is also stored in CoreData. In the interface, I want the user to be able to rotate the picture by 90 degrees. I also want it to be saved in CoreData. What should I rotate in the display? the scrollview, the uiimageview or the image itself? (If possible I would like the rotation to be animated) But then I also have to save the picture to CoreData. I thought about changing the image orientation but this property is readonly.

  Hi all, I am implementing an multilingual web site using ASP.Net. The languages are English,French and Arabic. Please note that Arabic's direction is RTL. What is the best way to implement the multilingual support. I am planning to use the .Net localization feature but the website texts are stored in DB. For the controls ( form controls) , I can used resx file. Do I need to build two different pages ( one for LTR and another for RTL )? Or can I have one ASPx file for all the three languages?   I am trying to make a C extension for Ruby that includes a method returning a string, which will sometimes have character values that need to be in an unsigned char. In http://github.com/shyouhei/ruby/blob/trunk/README.EXT, all of the functions listed for turning C strings into Ruby strings take signed chars. So I couldn't do this: unsigned char bytes[] = {0xf0, 0xf1, 0xf2}; return rb_str_new(bytes, 3); How could I make a method that returns these types of strings? In other words, how would I make a C extension with a method returning "\xff"?

• Error in R for missing object

  I have several nested functions, some of which as called in lapply clauses. In the process, sometimes I don't set a default for a parameter and instead check if it was supplied using the missing function. I'm getting a strange error right now when I'm not passing a value for a parameter, it has no default, yet missing resolves to FALSE. And when I try to use or check the parameter in any other way (using length, exists, etc.), I get an error: Error in try(length(x)) : argument "data" is missing, with no default Has anyone experienced this failure of the missing function before?

  Mathematica has a built-in function ArgMax for functions over infinite domains, based on the standard mathematical definition. The analog for finite domains is a handy utility function. Given a function and a list (call it the domain of the function), return the element(s) of the list that maximize the function. • Algorithm for Source Control System?

  I need to write a simple source control system and wonder what algorithm I would use for file differences? I don't want to look into existing source code due to license concerns. I need to have it licensed under MPL so I can't look at any of the existing systems like CVS or Mercurial as they are all GPL licensed. Just to give some background, I just need some really simple functions - binary files in a folder. no subfolders and every file behaves like it's own repository. No Metadata except for some permissions. Overall really simple stuff, my single concern really is how to store only the differences of a file from revision to revision without wasting too much space but also without being too inefficient (Maybe store a full version every X changes, a bit like Keyframes in Videos?)
