• Jquery dialog box - doesn't fade out before closing

  I have div(box) on my page and I'm using this script to display div as dialog box. Inside that div I have a hyper link, On click of the hyper link I want to fade out the dialog box and close.. The content of the dialog fades out, but the border of the dialog box remains same. If I add $("#box").dialog('close') to the click function after fadeto there is no effect.. it just closes the dialog box completely. • Display loading while webservice is running

  On the initial request to a page, I trigger a webservice and want to display a loading message. When the page has finished loading, I want to remove the waiting message from screen, but display it again when a change event in a checkbox triggers an Ajax call with another loading message. • Using deprecated binders and C++0x lambdas

  C++0x has deprecated the use of old binders such as bind1st and bind2nd in favor of generic std::bind. C++0x lambdas bind nicely with std::bind but they don't bind with classic bind1st and bind2nd because by default lambdas don't have nested typedefs such as argument_type, first_argument_type, second_argument_type, and result_type. So I thought std::function can serve as a standard way to bind lambdas to the old binders because it exposes the necessary typedefs. However, using std::function is hard to use in this context because it forces you to spell out the function-type while instantiating it. auto bound = std::bind1st(std::function<int (int, int)>([](int i, int j){ return i < j; }), 10); // hard to use auto bound = std::bind1st(std::make_function([](int i, int j){ return i < j; }), 10); // nice to have but does not compile. I could not find a convenient object generator for std::function. Something like std::make_fuction would be nice to have. Does such a thing exist? If not, is there any other better way of binding lamdas to the classic binders?

  Hello, my Question is as follows: What does GEvent.addListener(map, "click" function(){...}) return into the callback function? I don't find any information in the GMaps reference at all, can you show me some? The only thing I found out was that there are two parameters, "overlay" and "latLng" that are passed. The name of these parameters should not be of interest right? I could also name them "foo" and "bar" as far as I know. But the parameter "overlay" seems to be empty anyway? Also I have problems passing these two parameters directly into a callback function I created myself which looks like that... GEvent.addListener(gmap, "click", generateMarker(overlay, latLng)); ... instead of writing the following, which actually works fine. In some of the threads, I got error when calling BeanUtils.copyProperties(myojb , obj); saying Cannot invoke com.my.MyObject.setStartDate - java.lang.ClassCastException@2da93171 obviously, this is caused by ConvertUtils.deregister(Date.class) which is supposed to be called after BeanUtils.copyProperties(myojb , obj);. It looks like one of the threads deregistered the Date class out while another thread was just about to call BeanUtils.copyProperties(myojb , obj);. So My question is how do I make the private method mapToMyObject() thread safe? Or simply make the BeanUtils thread safe when it's used in a private method. And will the problem still be there if I keep the code this way but instead I call this foo() method in sevlet? If many sevlets call at the same time, would this be a multi-thread case as well?

• What can cause a spontaneous EPIPE error without either end calling close() or crashing?

  I have an application that consists of two processes (let's call them A and B), connected to each other through Unix domain sockets. Most of the time it works fine, but some users report the following behavior: A sends a request to B. This works. A now starts reading the reply from B. B sends a reply to A. The corresponding write() call returns an EPIPE error, and as a result B close() the socket. However, A did not close() the socket, nor did it crash. A's read() call returns 0, indicating end-of-file. A thinks that B prematurely closed the connection. Users have also reported variations of this behavior, e.g.: A sends a request to B. This works partially, but before the entire request is sent A's write() call returns EPIPE, and as a result A close() the socket. However B did not close() the socket, nor did it crash. B reads a partial request and then suddenly gets an EOF. The problem is I cannot reproduce this behavior locally at all. I've tried OS X and Linux. The users are on a variety of systems, mostly OS X and Linux. Things that I've already tried and considered: Double close() bugs (close() is called twice on the same file descriptor): probably not as that would result in EBADF errors, but I haven't seen them. Increasing the maximum file descriptor limit. One user reported that this worked for him, the rest reported that it did not. What else can possibly cause behavior like this? I know for certain that neither A nor B close() the socket prematurely, and I know for certain that neither of them have crashed because both A and B were able to report the error. It is as if the kernel suddenly decided to pull the plug from the socket for some reason.

• Jquery Var Returned As object

  I'm trying to pass a variable from one function to another, but the var elmId is being returned as an object and giving an error. When we click on any of the generated divs we should be able to change the size of the div by choosing a width / height value from the drop down menus. I'm trying to pass the clicked div id which is elmId to function displayVals but it is not working. If we replace "#"+elmId in the function displayVals with the actual id of the first div created with is "#divid1" then it works.   Can a mathematical function like sin() be redefined, in Fortran, C or Java code, while preserving the default behavior of other mathematical functions like cos()? Or can another function named sin() but that accepts different argument types be defined in addition to the built-in sin()? I am interested in general features of these languages (I am thinking of applications like the implementation of non-usual number algebras). I tried to define a sin() function in a Fortran 95 program, but the intrinsic sin() function was called instead… Is there a way around this? what about C and Java?

• How do interpreters written in C and C++ bind identifiers to C(++) functions

  I'm talking about C and/or C++ here as this are the only languages I know used for interpreters where the following could be a problem: If we have an interpreted language X how can a library written for it add functions to the language which can then be called from within programs written in the language? PHP example: substr( $str, 5, 10 ); How is the function substr added to the "function pool" of PHP so it can be called from within scripts? It is easy for PHP storing all registered function names in an array and searching through it as a function is called in a script. However, as there obviously is no eval in C(++), how can the function then be called? I assume PHP doesn't have 100MB of code like: if( identifier == "substr" ) { return PHP_SUBSTR(...); } else if( ... ) { ... } Ha ha, that would be pretty funny. I hope you have understood my question so far. How do interpreters written in C/C++ solve this problem? How can I solve this for my own experimental toy interpreter written in C++?

  I've got some legacy code that, instead of virtual functions, uses a kind field to do dynamic dispatch. New subtypes of POD and new methods are added pretty frequently, and so every time we do that, we have to update all these switch statements. The typical way to handle this would be to declare the function members virtual in the POD class, but we can't do that because the objects reside in shared memory. There is a lot of code that depends on these structs being plain-old-data, so even if I could figure out some way to have virtual functions in shared-memory objects, I wouldn't want to do that. So, I'm looking for suggestions as to the best way to clean this up so that all the knowledge of how to call the subtype methods is centralized in one place, rather than scattered among a couple dozen switch statements in a couple dozen functions. What occurs to me is that I can create some sort of adapter class that wraps a POD and uses templates to minimize the redundancy. But before I start down that path, I'd like to know how others have dealt with this.

• jQuery > reset popup window 's x and y relative to icon that launched the window

  I have a jQuery jPicker colorpicker that is bound to an input text field and opens onclick of a small picker.gif icon. The problem I'm having is that (1) The colorpicker that opens does not appear to be positioned according to the x/y position of the picker.gif (it opens far away from the click point) and (2) The colorpicker does not seem to be aware of the viewport's scroll position (the top of the colorpicker is partially hidden at the top of the window). I'd like to use jQuery to reposition the colorpalette (1) Based on the x/y position of the input that its bound to and (2) reset it's top position based on the viewport's visible Y position.
