• Re-setting CSS code for form buttons

  I used a CSS reset to reset some commonly-used items. The code is this: html, body, div, h1, h2, h3, h4, ul, ol, li, form, input, fieldset, textarea { margin: 0; padding: 0; border: 0; font-size: 100%; } ul {list-style: none outside none;} img, fieldset {border: 0;} h1, h2, h3, h4 {font-weight: normal;} em {font-style: italic;} strong {font-weight: bold;} I know there's YUI and Meyer's reset, but I use this one. Now, the problem I'm experiencing is that I can't get the submit buttons to look normally again. I could ofcourse remove the input from the list and be done with it, but I'd like to know how to get it back, since I might need that in the future.

• Jquery autocomplete not firing on keyup unless focus changes

  I am using a jquery autocomplete and i have a keyup event for my textbox. When I enter in a letter the function is called but the box is not populated. Once I click away from the box and then click back into it the autocomplete works great. Really weird issue and I have no idea how to fix it. • Spring MVC defaultValue for Double

  Hi All, I'm trying to build a controller like this: @RequestMapping(method = {RequestMethod.GET}, value = "/users/detail/activities.do") public View foo(@RequestParam(value = "userCash", defaultValue="0.0") Double userCash) { System.out.println("foo userCash=" + userCash); } This works fine: http://localhost/app/users/detail/activities.do?userCash=123& but in this one userCash==null despite the default value http://localhost/app/users/detail/activities.do?userCash=& From some digging it seems like the first one works b/c of a Editor binding like this: binder.registerCustomEditor(Double.class, new CustomNumberEditor(Double.class, false)); The trouble is that the second param (ie false) defines whether blank values are allowed. If i set that to true, than the system considers the blank input as valid so i get a null Double class. If i set it to false then the system chokes on the blank input string with: org.springframework.beans.TypeMismatchException: Failed to convert value of type 'java.lang.String' to required type 'double'; nested exception is java.lang.NumberFormatException: empty String Does anyone know how to get the defaultValue to work for Doubles?   I have the following code: $postcode = $form-createElement('text', 'postcode'); $postcode-setLabel('Post code:'); $postcode-addValidator('regex', false, array('/^[a-z]{1,3}[0-9]{1,3} ?[0-9]{1,3}[a-z]{1,3}$/i')); $postcode-addFilters(array('StringToUpper')); $postcode-setRequired(true); It creates an input field in a form and sets a regex validation rule and works just fine. The problem is that the error message it displays when a user enters an invalid postcode is this: 'POSTCODE' does not match against pattern '/^[a-z]{1,3}[0-9]{1,3} ?[0-9]{1,3}[a-z]{1,3}$/i' (where input was POSTCODE) How can I change this message to be a little more friendly?

• How to create a UDF that takes a query string and returns the query's resultset

  I want to create a stored procedure that takes a simple SELECT statement and return the resultset as a CSV string. So the basic idea is get the sql statement from user input, run it using EXEC(@stmt) and convert the resultset to text using cursors. However, as SQLServer doesn't allow: select * from storedprocedure(@sqlStmt) UDF with EXEC(@sqlStmt) so I tried Insert into #tempTable EXEC(@sqlStmt), but this doesn't work (error = "invalid object name #tempTable"). I'm stuck. Could you please shed some light on this matter? Many thanks EDIT: Actually the output (e.g CSV string) is not important. The problem is I don't know how to assign a cursor to the resultset returned by EXEC. SP and UDF do not work with Exec() while creating a temp table before inserting values is impossible without knowing the input statement. I thought of OPENQUERY but it does not accept variables as its parameters.

• Control third check box based on the state of the first two using jquery

  I have three check boxes and need to disable the third if either and/or of the other two are checked. I'm sure there's a easier way than what I have currently. It's turning into what I believe is a mess and I'm hoping that someone with more jquery knowledge can shine the light here. I don't understand why. This works, but one of the requirements is that a non programmer should be able to edit and maintain this. Ideally it'd be great if he could just add new check boxes to the html and it would work. The class for these are define and as far as I know can't be changed. The last check box in the list of check boxes will disable if any of the ones above are selected. Like wise if the last check box is selected, it will disable all the ones above it. I haven't even begun writing and testing that portion as this is quickly becoming too complicated for a non programmer to handle. I myself am more of a PHP coder than a js, let alone jquery, coder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know this is possible in C++ with overloading, but I can't find a way in Java. I want to just be able to type: doSomething(myBarSet); And the compiler knows to automatically call barTOfoo()

• Best practices in ASP.Net code behind pages.

  Hi, I am an experienced developer but I am new to web application development. Now I am in charge of developing a new web application and I could really use some input from experienced web developers out there. I'd like to understand exactly what experienced web developers do in the code-behind pages. At first I thought it was best to have a rule that all the database access and business logic should be performed in classes external to the code-behind pages. My thought was that only logic necessary for the web form would be performed in the code-behind. I still think that all the business logic should be performed in other classes but I'm beginning to think it would be alright if the code-behind had access to the database to query it directly rather than having to call other classes to receive a dataset or collection back. Any input would be appreciated.

• Problem uploading .docx through html form

  I've made a simple form, with the proper enctype for uploading files. When i try to upload a .docx everything works fine in IE 8 and Safari, but in Firefox or IE 7 or 6 i can't even click submit, nothing happens! Could this still be a server issue? It's an apache server.   For RLM problem of SPOJ: This is the problem: "Run-length encoding of a number replaces a run of digits (that is, a sequence of consecutive equivalent digits) with the number of digits followed by the digit itself. For example, 44455 would become 3425 (three fours, two fives). Note that run-length encoding does not necessarily shorten the length of the data: 11 becomes 21, and 42 becomes 1412. If a number has more than nine consecutive digits of the same type, the encoding is done greedily: each run grabs as many digits as it can, so 111111111111111 is encoded as 9161. Implement an integer arithmetic calculator that takes operands and gives results in run-length format. You should support addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.   Hey, I am working on nesting of sheet metal parts and am implementing Minkowski Sums to find No Fit Polygons for nesting. The problem is I can give only convex sets as input to the code which calculates Minkowski sums for me. Hence I need to break a concave polygon, with holes into Convex sets. I am open to triangulation also, but I am looking for a working code on VC++ (6.0). I am slightly running short on time as my whole code is ready and just waiting for input in the form of convex sets. I would really appreciate if somebody with prior experience can help me in this. I have gone through other posts but did not find anything matching to this. I am a student of mechanical engineering and really dun have much idea about computer languages.   Hi, I am hoping some genious out there can help me out with this... I am using sox to merge and resample a group of WAV files, and pipe the output directly to the input of NeroAACEnc for encoding to AAC format. I originally ran the process in a script, which included: sox.exe d:\audio\1.wav d:\audio\2.wav d:\audio\3.wav -c 1 -r 22050 -t wav - | neroAacEnc.exe -q 0.5 -if - -of test.m4a This worked as expected. The '-' in the comand line translates as 'Pipe/redirect input/output (stdin/stdout)' - So Sox pipes to stdout, and NeroAACEnc reads from stdin, the | joins them together. I should mention here, that I opted for IronPython over C#, because I am comfortable with Python now - however, there is a chance of moving it again later to C# native, and I am using IronPython to ease myself into it :) I have no C# or .net experience.   I'm interested to hear from other developers their opinion on an approach that I typically take. I have a web application, asp.net 2.0, c#. What I usually do to write out drop downs, tables, input controls, etc. is in the code behind use StringBuilder and write out something like sb.Append(" I don't find myself using to many .net controls as I typically write out the html in the code behind. When I want to use jQuery or call JavaScript I just put that function call in my sb.Append tag like sb.Append("td...onblur='fnCallJS()'. I've gotten pretty comfortable with this approach. For data access I use EntitySpaces. I'm just kind of curious if this sort of approach is horribly wrong, ok depending on the context, good, time to learn 3.0, etc. I'm interested in learning and was just looking for some input.

  Hello all, I have a page, which uses jQuery Autocomplete on the second two textboxes (investigator and institution). It is getting the data fine, and displaying it, but for some reason it is not filtering the list of data as i continue to type. Anyone know why? Is there something i need to do to turn this on? According to the jQuery site, the only options to the autocomplete initializer are delay, minLength and source. Thanks in advance! I'm using jQ v1.4.1 and jQui v.1.8rc1.   So I've got the latest versions of jQuery and UI running. • Localize Currency for iPhone

  I would like my iPhone app to allow the input, display and storage of currency amounts using the appropriate symbol ($, €, £, ¥, etc) for the user. Would NSNumberFormatter do everything I need? What happens when a user switches their locale and these amounts (dollars, yen, etc.) are stored as NSDecimalNumbers. I assume, to be safe, it's necessary to somehow capture the locale at the time of entry and then the currency symbol and store them in my instance along with the NSDecimalNumber ivar so they can be unwrapped and displayed appropriately down the road should the user changed their locale since the time when the item was created? Sorry, I have little localization experience so hoping for a couple quick pointers before diving in. Lastly, any insight on how to you handle this kind of input given the limitations of the iPhone's keyboards?
