I have some of my services with runlevels 345 on but when I start a stopped instance the services don't start. What's actually happening when I issue a stop command to the instance, and how do I get my services to start automatically when I start the instance up again?

  • Restarting nginx with Capistrano results in 502 Bad Gateway

    Here's what cap deploy does: sudo -p 'sudo password: ' -u root /var/rails_apps/fooapp/current/script/process/reaper reaper simply contains /etc/init.d/nginx restart When I run the same command from the shell, I do not get a 502--everything is fine. The nginx error.log is empty. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    We got a supermicro server, http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1u/5016/sys-5016i-ur.cfm, according spec, the server supports up to 32G memory when using ECC Register Memory. However, when I tried the dmidecode command, it says 24G max memory: [root@c1 ~]# dmidecode | grep Maximum Maximum Size: 256 kB Maximum Size: 1024 kB Maximum Size: 8192 kB Maximum Memory Module Size: 4096 MB Maximum Total Memory Size: 24576 MB Maximum Capacity: 24 GB Maximum Value: Unknown Which one I should trust?

The console is giving me the message : 16/04/2010 12:14:20 com.apple.coreservicesd[51] sh: launchctl: command not found This indicates to me that it can't find the launchctl executable launchctl is present in the folder /bin /bin is set in the PATH variable for sh and bash shells and also in the ~/.MacOS/environment.plist How can I fix this so that my preferences can find this so that I can enable the FTP service.

    My Wordpress tables appear to be in need of optimization so I looked into the commmand OPTIMIZE TABLE . When I run the command I get the following results: Table does not support optimize, doing recreate + analyze instead The tables are built using the Wordpress 2.91 installer and haven't been modified at all.   • How to solve "Broken Pipe" error when using awk with head

    I'm getting broken pipe errors from a command that does something like: ls -tr1 /a/path | awk -F '\n' -vpath=/prepend/path/ '{print path$1}' | head -n 50 Essentially I want to list (with absolute path) the oldest X files in a directory. What seems to happen is that the output is correct (I get 50 file paths output) but that when head has output the 50 files it closes stdin causing awk to throw a broken pipe error as it is still outputting more rows.

It seems a novel idea to be able to get a programmable remote that can be used to manipulate windows (like the Harmony remote control series) along with some programmable software (preferably Windows supported) to convert any button on a regular remote to some command on the PC. Does this exist? What is it called? This particular instance you are REQUIRED to use the crappy supplied remote, and this is not what I am looking for

  • Core i7 on linux loses its multithreading capability after suspend

    On my debian-linux system, with a core i7 920 , each time I resume after the command "pm-suspend" (suspend to RAM), mutlithreading capabilities almost disappear. More specifically, two distinct programs can use 2 distinct cores at full rate, but a single program is limited to only one core (for one instance of a multithreaded program as well as multiple instances of a monothreaded program, e.g. "make -j 4" for gcc). So I end up rebooting the system. Any help appreciated!

    Hi, I am trying to connect to a public FTP server that allows anonymous connexions. The server is fr2.rpmfind.net and it works from my terminal ftp fr2.rpmfind.net Connected to mandril.creatis.insa-lyon.fr. Now I have another terminal with SSH to a remote machine and for the same command this is what I get: ftp: connect: Connection refused How can I get a connection refused if FTP server allows anonymous connexions?
