• Ubuntu wired network disconnected

  I am not able to establish a wired network connection between two computers on which I just installed Ubuntu 10.04. I am new to this environment. Unlike in the Windows environment, where it happens by just connecting them with a cable, Ubuntu keeps flashing a notification saying "Wired network disconnected". Am I missing a driver or something? I am able to connect to the wi-fi router without issue. The wired connection is just not working.

  I have a brand new installation of Jenkins 1.417 on Ubuntu 11.6, trying to talk to an active directory. I have the Active Directory plugin installed. If I leave off the base DN and password, the 'test' button claims success, while actual authentication fails. If I put in a user name and password on the domain, the test button fails (just as above). Is there some tweak required to the AD configuration to allow something like Jenkins to talk to it?

  I had a Vista machine and my iPhone was sync'ed to that machine. But after I got a new machine with Windows 7, I moved that old computer away and is not using it. So now I installed iTunes on this new Win 7 computer, and bought a new song from the iTune store, but I can't add this song to the iPhone. It seems I have to erase all songs on the iPhone in order to add this one song?

• Is a 2006 Mac Mini's processor upgradeable to a Core 2 Duo?

  I have a Mac Mini with Core Solo 1.5GHz, 512mb RAM, 60gb HDD, etc... I know, it's very old but since it's lying around here, I wanted to bump it up for general usage and some experimental iPhone development. Also, Snow Leopard can't be installed as it doesn't have enough RAM. I browsed around but I'm not sure if this Mac Mini's motherboard accepts a Core2Duo (at least a 2.0GHz). If anyone could inform me which generation of Core2Duo it still accepts, I'd be grateful.

• Getting ajaxterm to work on Debian Lenny

  I've been knocking my head out for a while on this one and have read many tutorials, but I just can't get this to work. Ajaxterm, is a webbased SSH client; once installed apt-get install ajaxterm and then enabling it with /etc/init.d/ajaxterm start I should be able to access the SSH terminal with http://mywebsite:8022/ But doing so only gives me a "Page not found", any suggestions? • libtldl not found - chekc libtool installation!

  I'm on Fedora 8, trying to configure/make libmp3splt, and every time I try to compile I get libtldl not found - chekc libtool installation! I have libtool installed, and some places online said to try installing libltdl-dev, which does't seem to exist for me to install. Missing anything? Thanks!

  I have a soundcard in my new PC at work that does not have the right driver installed, and I'm not sure what the manufacturer is. (it's a generic PC running Windows XP) Is there a way to figure out what device it is w/o having to open the thing up or pester my IT department? • Cannot clear away BitDefender Internet Security system tray message

  I have BitDefender IS 2008 installed on my PC. In the last few days I have noticed the taskbar icon grumbling 1 issue requires your attention The Real-Time File Scanning is disabled and no amount of clicking "Fix" solved this issue. I have tried umpteen reboots and what have you. I really don't want to uninstall and re-install BitDefender (unless there's no other way out). How do I clear away the notification message?

I have tried going to Language in Control Panel and setting the only language to English - US, however English - UK is still the only option in speech properties.   I have SpiceWorks 4.7, installed and added the sql monitor extension to monitor our SQL servers. It does identify our sql servers correctly, but when I put the login information in it can't authenticate, with the following error message. Authentication failed. Check the login and password, and ensure that the server is configured for remote connections. I get the same result trying to use windows authentication. WE do use an alternate port# could this be the problem?

  A friend has a site developed in ColdFusion with MySQL and is looking for better cost-effective hosting as the traffic scales up rapidly. Azure comes to mind. I haven't used Azure myself, however, I believe it is possible to setup and interact with the web-server via RDP into a hosted Virtual Machine? I am curious if ColdFusion can be installed in the hosted Azure VM. Also, would the site have to be tweaked to run on Azure SQL, or could it continue to use MySQL? Thanks.

However I do not see the toolbar when I right-click in the toolbar section in IE. The add-on manger says that the toolbar is loaded but I cant get it to show in the toolbars section Any ideas? TIA

However, this doesn't appear to work on the Mac machines. Any ideas how I can sort this without changing anything on the Windows server?

• How do I turn off accent combining in Windows 7?

  I have English Windows 7 Professional with Hungarian keyboard language installed. The English keyboard layout works as expected, but for the Hungarian layout some kind of "accent combining" is activated. The effect of this ^+o becomes ô, ^+a becomes â, etc. This is not helpful at all, since the accented characters of Hungarian are already mapped to keys, but it's really annoying because I have to type a non-combining character to actually get ^. Is there any way to turn this "feature" off?
