• What's the best way to move a windows 7 installation from a hdd to another?

  I have a hdd with windows 7 installed on it. I would like to move (or clone) the whole system to another (in this case smaller) hdd. What is the best and easiest way to do it? Basically I would need some kind of copy operation which would handle the differenct hdd sizes and copy everything including the boot loader. What method do you recommend?

  i'm having a problem with mod_security. I have installed it, but i am not sure on how to make the rules for it, i want the rules to prevent all major attacks like cross site scripting, remote file inclusion etc i'm using mod security 2.6.5, apache 2.2 with php 5.3.10. i went to this site http://www.gotroot.com/mod_security+rules but i am not sure how to set up the rules or which one to use, or how i add them properly in httpd.conf, would someone please explain the process and also recommend rules for someone in my position?

  I wonder what main purposes and benefits can one get after he sets up a webserver running on Linux installed on a VM which is hosted by Windows and that this webserver can be used as a local host for windows ? That is, I have java application that is a webserver made on Linux, I set up the virtual machine for the windows client apps to listen to its (Linux)'s local IP address and port e.g 192.168.50.50:11111 When my webserver runs, I can use http://192.168.50.50/ as the windows's localhost address (instead of 127.0.0.1 as I usually do). • Why is it I can't use my Windows installation both as a host and a guest?

  I have Linux installed on my harddrive, sometimes I run it as the host operating system and sometimes run it as a guest in Windows using VirtualBox. It's a nice ability, I think. I don't think it's possible with Windows though. Is it because your average distribution includes drivers for everything known to man? Are devices/drivers configured statically in Windows so when somethings changed it breaks?

  I've installed a CMS on a shared host running Apache, now when I was deleting the root directory with FTP, some folders left with a "Permission denied" error and I can't change their attributes. the best explanation I've got is that the CMS installer has placed the files and has assigned its ownership to the Apache server instead of my user name. (i don't know it can be done) Ijust haven't use the uninstaller because I've lost my admin password - -" so how to delete those folders ?

  I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (w/ SP1), and have multiple UI languages installed - mainly for screenshots etc. Among them are Chinese (traditional) and Chinese (Simplified), which insist on hooking the CTRL+Space key even though I have disabled / overridden these hotkey assignments under Language Bar settings / Advanced key settings. (It conflicts with CTRL+Space in the Visual Studio IDE, and is pretty annoying beyond that.) Any ideas?

  I need to install GeoIP on a cPanel server (running CentOS 5.8). I have tried installing it through EasyApache (after installing geoip-devel and the relevant EasyApache addon), and it seems to have installed successfully. However, it won't load into Apache. UPDATE: Apparently the line: LoadModule geoip_module modules/mod_geoip.so does appear in the httpd.conf but the module isn't actually enabled--it isn't shown as loaded in phpinfo and GeoIP directives in .htaccess don't work. What am I doing wrong?

  I did something weird and now my text size is like 3pt on every system window, but when I go in and change my window fonts to larger to something that looks normal, it makes my clock, bash, and other fonts absolutely gigantic. Is there any way I can just roll back my system and it's settings? It wouldn't be much bother as I installed the OS yesterday. I'd hate to have to reinstall entirely though, but I guess it's an option.

  I installed Fiddler 4 Beta to do some HTTP tracing. I found a lot of calls being made to sites like : facebook, collegehumor and a bunch of other sites I've never visited. Could not trace what/who is initiating these calls as I do not see any Windows Processes. No one else is connected to my network. I use both Google Chrome and IE10 on a Windows 7 box. We are able to upload a spreadsheet with the xlsx extension, however, when we attempt to download the same spreadsheet we are getting the following error: Excel An error has occured. Please try again. We can open xls files fine as well as docx and pptx files.

If put in a hibernate, it wakes up normally, but if turned of completely, after turning on there is no "beep" sound from BIOS and HD lamp blinks for a while then stops.
