  • Wordpress - related posts by custom taxonomy problem

    - by Nordin
    Hello, I'm trying to display related posts based on a custum taxonomy. I found a query at wordpress.org that kind of works. However the original post gets duplicated in the results multiple times. (words is the name of the custom taxonomy I use) What seems to happen is that the single post gets duplicated according to what amount showpost is set. Any idea's what could cause this? The code: <?php //for in the loop, display all "content", regardless of post_type, //that have the same custom taxonomy (e.g. words) terms as the current post $backup = $post; // backup the current object $found_none = '<h2>No related posts found!</h2>'; $taxonomy = 'words';// e.g. post_tag, category, custom taxonomy $param_type = 'words'; // e.g. tag__in, category__in, but genre__in will NOT work $post_types = get_post_types( array('public' => true), 'names' ); $tax_args=array('orderby' => 'none'); $tags = wp_get_post_terms( $post->ID , $taxonomy, $tax_args); if ($tags) { foreach ($tags as $tag) { $args=array( "$param_type" => $tag->slug, 'post__not_in' => array($post->ID), 'post_type' => $post_types, 'showposts'=>5, 'caller_get_posts'=>1 ); $my_query = null; $my_query = new WP_Query($args); if( $my_query->have_posts() ) { while ($my_query->have_posts()) : $my_query->the_post(); ?> <h3><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark" title="<?php the_title(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h3> <?php $found_none = ''; endwhile; } } } if ($found_none) { echo $found_none; } $post = $backup; // copy it back wp_reset_query(); // to use the original query again ?>

  • Call asp.net web service from php

    - by SamB09
    Hi im calling an aps.net web service from a php service. The service searches both databases with a search parameter. Im not sure how to pass a search parameter to the asp.net service. Code is below. ( there is no search paramter currently but im just interested in how it would be passed to the asp.net service) $link = mysql_connect($host, $user, $passwd); mysql_select_db($dbName); $query = 'SELECT firstname, surname, phone, location FROM staff ORDER BY surname'; $result = mysql_query($query,$link); // if there is a result if ( mysql_num_rows($result) > 0 ) { // set up a DOM object $xmlDom1 = new DOMDocument(); $xmlDom1->appendChild($xmlDom1->createElement('directory')); $xmlRoot = $xmlDom1->documentElement; // loop over the rows in the result while ( $row = mysql_fetch_row($result) ) { $xmlPerson = $xmlDom1->createElement('staff'); $xmlFname = $xmlDom1->createElement('fname'); $xmlText = $xmlDom1->createTextNode($row[0]); $xmlFname->appendChild($xmlText); $xmlPerson->appendChild($xmlFname); $xmlSname = $xmlDom1->createElement('sname'); $xmlText = $xmlDom1->createTextNode($row[1]); $xmlSname->appendChild($xmlText); $xmlPerson->appendChild($xmlSname); $xmlTel = $xmlDom1->createElement('phone'); $xmlText = $xmlDom1->createTextNode($row[2]); $xmlTel->appendChild($xmlText); $xmlPerson->appendChild($xmlTel); $xmlLoc = $xmlDom1->createElement('loc'); $xmlText = $xmlDom1->createTextNode($row[3]); $xmlLoc->appendChild($xmlText); $xmlPerson->appendChild($xmlLoc); $xmlRoot->appendChild($xmlPerson); } } // // instance a SOAP client to the dotnet web service and read it into a DOM object // (this really should have an exception handler) // $client = new SoapClient('http://stuiis.cms.gre.ac.uk/mk05/dotnet/dataBind01/phoneBook.asmx?WSDL'); $xmlString = $client->getDirectoryDom()->getDirectoryDomResult->any; $xmlDom2 = new DOMDocument(); $xmlDom2->loadXML($xmlString); // merge the second DOM object into the first foreach ( $xmlDom2->documentElement->childNodes as $staffNode ) { $xmlPerson = $xmlDom1->createElement($staffNode->nodeName); foreach ( $staffNode->childNodes as $xmlNode ) { $xmlElement = $xmlDom1->createElement($xmlNode->nodeName); $xmlText = $xmlDom1->createTextNode($xmlNode->nodeValue); $xmlElement->appendChild($xmlText); $xmlPerson->appendChild($xmlElement); } $xmlRoot->appendChild($xmlPerson); } // return result echo $xmlDom

  • Mysql: Perform of NOT EXISTS. Is it possible to improve permofance?

    - by petRUShka
    I have two tables posts and comments. Table comments have post_id attribute. I need to get all posts with type "open", for which there are no comments with type "good" and created date MAY 1. Is it optimal to use such SQL-query: SELECT posts.* FROM posts WHERE NOT EXISTS ( SELECT comments.id FROM comments WHERE comments.post_id = posts.id AND comments.comment_type = 'good' AND comments.created_at BETWEEN '2010-05-01 00:00:00' AND '2010-05-01 23:59:59') I'm not sure that NOT EXISTS is perfect construction in this situation.

  • Performance in SQL Mobile with one big column that's not being selected

    - by Anthony Mastrean
    I have a SQL Mobile database with one table. It has several columns with useful, often queried data and one column that stores a relatively large string per record (1000+ characters) that is not queried often. Imagine this fake schema, the "lifeStory" field is the large one. table1 String firstName String lastName String address String lifeStory A representative query would be SELECT firstName, lastName, address FROM table1 WHERE firstName = :p1 Does anyone know of any performance concerns leaving that large, infrequently queried column in this table?

  • No output from Linq to XML

    - by Gogster
    Hi all, I have the following code: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { XElement xml = XElement.Load(Server.MapPath("ArenasMembers.xml")); var query = from p in xml.Descendants("members") select new { Name = p.Element("name").Value, Email = p.Attribute("email").Value }; foreach (var member in query) { Response.Write("Employee: " + member.Name + " " + member.Email + "<br />"); } } Which, using the hover information in Visual Studio, is reading the XNL file in correctly, however the foreach is not outputting any of the records. XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <members> <member> <arena>EAA Office</arena> <memberid>1</memberid> <name>Jane Doe</name> <email>[email protected]</email> </member> <member> <arena>EAA Office</arena> <memberid>2</memberid> <name>John Bull</name> <email>[email protected]</email> </member> <member> <arena>O2 Arena</arena> <memberid>3</memberid> <name>John Doe</name> <email>[email protected]</email> </member> <member> <arena>O2 Arena</arena> <memberid>4</memberid> <name>Bernard Cribbins</name> <email>[email protected]</email> </member> <member> <arena>Colourline Arena</arena> <memberid>5</memberid> <name>John Bon Jovi</name> <email>[email protected]</email> </member> <member> <arena>NIA</arena> <memberid>6</memberid> <name>Rhianna</name> <email>[email protected]</email> </member> </members> Can you see what is wrong?

  • Spring's EntityManager not persisting

    - by Fernando Camargo
    Well, my project was using EJB and JPA (with Hibernate), but I had to switch to Spring. Everything was working well before that. The EJB used to inject the EntityManager, controled the transaction, etc. Ok, when I switched to Spring, I had a lot of problems because I'm new on Spring. But after everything is running, I have the problem: the data is never saved on database. I configured my Spring to control the transactions, I have spring beans used in JSF, that has spring services that do the hard work. This services have a EntityManager injected and use @Transactional REQUIRED. This services pass the EntityManager to a DAO that call entityManager.persist(bean). The selects appears to work well, the JTA transaction appears to work well to (I saw in log), but the entity is not saved! Here is the log: INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.jpa.support.OpenEntityManagerInViewFilter: doFilterInternal() (linha 136): Opening JPA EntityManager in OpenEntityManagerInViewFilter INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory: doGetBean() (linha 245): Returning cached instance of singleton bean 'transactionManager' INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: getTransaction() (linha 365): Creating new transaction with name [br.org.cni.pronatec.controller.service.MontanteServiceImpl.adicionarValor]: PROPAGATION_REQUIRED,ISOLATION_DEFAULT; '' INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: doBegin() (linha 493): Opened new Session [org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl@2b2fe2f0] for Hibernate transaction INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: doBegin() (linha 504): Preparing JDBC Connection of Hibernate Session [org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl@2b2fe2f0] INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: doBegin() (linha 569): Exposing Hibernate transaction as JDBC transaction [com.sun.gjc.spi.jdbc40.ConnectionHolder40@3bcd4840] INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.jpa.ExtendedEntityManagerCreator$ExtendedEntityManagerInvocationHandler: doJoinTransaction() (linha 383): Joined JTA transaction INFO: Hibernate: select hibernate_sequence.nextval from dual INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: processCommit() (linha 752): Initiating transaction commit INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: doCommit() (linha 652): Committing Hibernate transaction on Session [org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl@2b2fe2f0] INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager: doCleanupAfterCompletion() (linha 734): Closing Hibernate Session [org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl@2b2fe2f0] after transaction INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.SessionFactoryUtils: closeSession() (linha 800): Closing Hibernate Session INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.jpa.support.OpenEntityManagerInViewFilter: doFilterInternal() (linha 154): Closing JPA EntityManager in OpenEntityManagerInViewFilter INFO: [Pronatec] - 04/04/2012 11:30:20 - [DEBUG] org.springframework.orm.jpa.EntityManagerFactoryUtils: closeEntityManager() (linha 343): Closing JPA EntityManager In the log, I see it commiting the transaction, but I don't see the insert query (the Hibernate is printing any query). The transaction is being controlled by the Spring, like is printed in the log, but the insert query is never printed in log and it is never saved. I'm sorry about my bad english. Thanks in advance for who helps.

    I have a table of users - It contains around millions of rows (user-id is the primary key). I just want to retrieve user-id and their joining date. Using SELECT user-id, joining-date FROM users requires lot of time. Is there a fast way to query/retrieve the same data from this table?

  • In SQL, what's the difference between count(column) and count(*)?

    - by Bill the Lizard
    I have the following query: select column_name, count(column_name) from table group by column_name having count(column_name) > 1; What would be the difference if I replaced all calls to count(column_name) to count(*)? This question was inspired by a previous one. Edit: To clarify the accepted answer (and maybe my question), using count(*) in this case returns an extra row in the result that contains a null and the count of null values in the column.
