  • SQLite: 2 Problems by working with table

    Hallo all, I have a SQliteDatabase object db, i want to create a table in db with the following code db.execSQL("CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS "+ TABLE2_NAME + " (exer_nr INTEGER PRIMARY KEY ,exerText varchar(250),answerA varchar(250),answerB varchar(250),answerC varchar(250),answerD varchar(250))"); An Error occur. Why? Is this too large? How can i fix it? Another problem: I want to insert a row into the table, whose "exerText" column contains the following code as part of it's content. main( ) { int m=12, n=34; printf("%d%d", m+ +,+ +n); printf("%d%d\n",n+ +,+ +m); } An Error occur because of the "" and '' symbols in the code.   • How to set a custom font for a spinner?

    Is there anyway to set a custom font or color for the selected item in a Spinner? For example, I open the spinner and click a priority of "High". I'm my layout containing the spinner, I would like to see the word "High" in red or a custom font. I can't seem to obtain the textview to make the necessary change. I always obtain a NullPointerException if I typecast the spinner.getSelectedView() to textview and attempt to set the color. any ideas? thanks in advance!

  • Line breaks in XML are ignored by the SAX Parser

    I am parsing an XML with some CData that contains line breaks. The parser ignores these line breaks. I am trying to figure out a way to catch these newlines in the characters() method and replace them with a break tag for display purposes. I have tried almost everything under the sun and have been scouring stackoverflow for the past 3 hours. I tried every combination of replacing "\n", "\r\n" and so on with a break tag in the characters() method of the parser. I am absolutely helpless right about now.... and would sincerely appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!!!

  • Determining if an Activity exists on the current device?

    Is there a way to check and see if an Activity exists on your device? If I have a youtube video link I want to specify it open in the YouTube PlayerActivity. However, I don't want to crash if for some reason they don't have it. Is there a way to check and see if the activity exists? I don't think I can catch the runtime exception since startActivity() doesn't throw it.

    I'm wondering if it is possible to create a separate APK file which contains only language specific strings and somehow persuade my program to try to read the string resources first from that package's resource and then from the program's own resources... I would like to have a main program with 2-3 mayor laguages and the rest of the languages would go into a separate language pack. (This is to keep the main program size small as I have already 12 translations)

  • How to make a slide gesture in a view?

    I have a grid layout that holds a limited 6 items per screen. This set number is just a base for the app and make it look and feel better so it must stay set to that. To get passed this and to add some flash to the app, I want to animate a style of screen change. For instance, when a finger is dragged left, push the current view to the side and bring the next it, very similar to how a gallery does it, except I would like it to be able to scroll vertical as well.   • Passing GPS speed via the Eclipse Emulator Control

    Hi, my app queries the GPS-speed using .getSpeed() on a LocationListener. Is there a way to set this speed using the Eclipse Emulator Control or the command line? I tried to feed multiple sets of coordinates to the emulator via the manual GPS-control, but it didn't pick up a speed from that. Also, using a pre-defined GPX-file and playing it doesn't work for me. I would like to test my app without having to take it on a test-drive in my car every time ;)! Thanks!

  • MyLocationOverlay dissappears, is not there onResume.

    I have a mapView to which I add a MyLocationOverlay. It displays fine when the app starts from scratch (goes through onCreate). If I exit the app (back button) and then start it again (onResume), the overlay is gone. I have tried to fix this for 10+ hours. All sorts of messing with re-adding the overlay. Resetting the overlays. Changing the maps location so it's forced to redraw. Trying to manually invalidate or force a redraw of the overlay. NOTHING has worked. From the way the code looks, the Overlay object exists and everything is working fine - but it's just not on the map. Is anybody else having this problem? (Droid Incredible, 2.2)

  • Is it possible to import specific class from project propreties

    I have 2 projects. First project need to include second. When I copy sources from second project to first I need to modify manually import path to R.java file. The problem is that I need to use SVN external link connection between this 2 projects, that is mean, one project (the bigger one) will take sources from another through svn and should be able to use it without any modifications. If I would be able to specify R.java file path anywhere in project properties it will resolve my problem by changing manually that path. Need to specify that package name of these 2 projects are different. Another solution to resolve this problem also would be accepted. Thank you.

  • measuring a view before rendering it

    hello I need to find out how big a view will be after attaching it to its parent. I have overridden this method: onMeasure(int, int); but it looks like this method is invoked only when I actually add my custom view to it's container using: addView(myView); Do you think there is a way to get this information before rendering the view itself? Basically I need to know the actuall size before attaching it and not attach the view at all if it would take more certain amount of space. anybody?

    In my app I simply open the list of activities and when a contact is clicked I attempt to retrieve the name of the contact selected and put it into a string. The app crashes in the onActivityResult() function.
