  • Application crash when using an NSTimer and pushViewController

    - by Cesar
    I'm using an NSTimer to implement a 3 seconds splash screen. If a don't use a timer the view it's correctly pushed but if I use the timer for adding a little delay the application crash with a EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I'm pretty sure the answer contains "memory management" but I can't get the point... @interface RootViewController : UIViewController { NSTimer *timer; } -(void)changeView:(NSTimer*)theTimer; @property(nonatomic,retain) NSTimer *timer; ... @implementation RootViewController @synthesize timer; - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; [[self navigationController] setNavigationBarHidden:YES]; timer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:3.0 target:self selector:@selector(changeView:) userInfo:nil repeats:NO]; } -(void)changeView:(NSTimer*)theTimer { NSLog(@"timer fired"); //Crash here, but only if called using a timer [[self navigationController] pushViewController:list animated:YES]; }

  • indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath not indenting custom cell

    - by Xetius
    I have overridden the tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath method in my UITableViewController derived class as follows: - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSDictionary* item = [self.projects objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; int indentationLevel = [[item objectForKey:@"indent"] intValue]; DLog (@"Indentation Level for Row %d : %d", indexPath.row, indentationLevel); return indentationLevel; } I initially thought that this was not being called but that was operator error (err, mine) and I hadn't defined the symbol DEBUG=1. However, it is being called (duh me!) and this is the log output: -[RootViewController tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:] [Line 129] Indentation Level for Row 0 : 1 -[RootViewController tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:] [Line 129] Indentation Level for Row 1 : 1 -[RootViewController tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:] [Line 129] Indentation Level for Row 2 : 2 -[RootViewController tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:] [Line 129] Indentation Level for Row 3 : 2 -[RootViewController tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:] [Line 129] Indentation Level for Row 4 : 2 -[RootViewController tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:] [Line 129] Indentation Level for Row 5 : 1 -[RootViewController tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:] [Line 129] Indentation Level for Row 6 : 2 -[RootViewController tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:] [Line 129] Indentation Level for Row 7 : 2 -[RootViewController tableView:indentationLevelForRowAtIndexPath:] [Line 129] Indentation Level for Row 8 : 1 But, this is not affecting the layout of the cells. No indentation. This is my itemCellForRowAtIndexPath implementation, if that makes any difference: -(UITableViewCell*)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView itemCellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString* cellIdentifier = @"projectItemCell"; ProjectItemTableViewCell* cell = (ProjectItemTableViewCell*)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:cellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray* nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"ProjectItemTableViewCell" owner:self options:nil]; for (id oneObject in nib) { if ([oneObject isKindOfClass:[ProjectItemTableViewCell class]]) { cell = (ProjectItemTableViewCell*)oneObject; } } } NSDictionary* item = [self.projects objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.projectDescLabel.text = [item objectForKey:@"name"]; cell.itemCountlabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", [[item objectForKey:@"cache_count"] intValue]]; cell.itemCountlabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorForHex:[item objectForKey:@"color"]]; cell.indentationWidth = 20; return cell; } How do I indent a custom UITableViewCell which I have defined in Interface Builder? If I change the itemCellForRowAtIndexPath to use a default UITableViewCell with the code below, then it indents fine. static NSString* cellIdentifier = @"projectItemCell"; UITableViewCell* cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:cellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:cellIdentifier] autorelease]; } NSDictionary* item = [self.projects objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [item objectForKey:@"name"]; cell.indentationWidth = 40; return cell;

  • Overlaying 2D paths on UIImage without scaling artifacts

    - by tat0
    I need to draw a path along the shape of an image in a way that it is always matching its position on the image independent of the image scale. Think of this like the hybrid view of Google Maps where streets names and roads are superimposed on top of the aerial pictures. Furthermore, this path will be drawn by the user's finger movements and I need to be able to retrieve the path keypoints on the image pixel coordinates. The user zooms-in in order to more precisely set the paths location. I manage to somehow make it work using this approach: -Create a custom UIView called CanvasView that handles touches interaction and delivers scaling, rotation, translation values to either the UIImageView or PathsView (see bellow) depending on a flag: deliverToImageOrPaths. -Create a UIImageView holding the base image. This is set as a children of CanvasView -Create a custom UIView called PathsView that keeps track of the 2D paths geometry and draws itself with a custom drawRect. This is set as children of the UIImageView. So hierarchy: CanvasView - UIImageView -PathsView In this way when deliverToImageOrPaths is YES, finger gestures transforms both the UIImageView and its child PathsView. When deliverToImageOrPaths is NO the gestures affect only the PathsView altering its geometry. So far so good. QUESTION: The problem I have is that when scaling the base UIImageView (via its .transform property) the PathsView is scaled with aliasing artifacts. drawRect is still being called on the PathsView but I guess it's performing the drawing using the original buffer size and then interpolating. How can I solve this issue? Are there better ways to implement these features? PS: I tried changing the PathsView layer class to CATiledLayer with levelsOfDetailBias 4 and levelsOfDetail 4. It solves the aliasing problem to some extent but it's unacceptable slow to render.

  • SKProductsRequest delegate methods are never called.

    - by coneybeare
    This used to work for me but is now not working anymore and I can't figure out why. I have in-app purchase setup in my app. I confirmed that I have a correct set of product identifiers, matched by corresponding in-app purchase items in itunesconnect. The call goes out to Apple view [productRequest start], but I never get a response back, despite setting the delegate to myself. What am I missing? NSLog(@"productIdentifiersSet: %@", productIdentifiersSet); if ([productIdentifiersSet count]) { SKProductsRequest *productRequest = [[SKProductsRequest alloc] initWithProductIdentifiers:productIdentifiersSet]; [productRequest setDelegate:self]; [productRequest start]; } ……… - (void)productsRequest:(SKProductsRequest *)request didReceiveResponse:(SKProductsResponse *)response { <never called> } - (void)requestDidFinish:(SKRequest *)request { <never called> } - (void)request:(SKRequest *)request didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { <never called> }

  • Verifying existence of name and password in NSUserDefaults to Skip a login/Screen

    - by Michael Robinson
    I have a Tabbar/Tableview App that modally loads a Login/Signup view when the app loads, I have set up a Root.plist in a settings bundle for the name and password and have successfully retrieved the items. I want to be able to do two things: 1) Do a test to see if the NSUserDefault Strings are empty and if so load the Login/Signup view. 2) If the strings are available then use the string contents to login to my Webservice. Thanks in advance. Here is my LoginViewController .m : @synthesize usernameField; @synthesize passwordField; @synthesize loginButton; @synthesize loginIndicator; @synthesize usernameLabel; @synthesize passwordLabel; -(void)refreshFields { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; usernameLabel.text = [defaults objectForKey:kUsernameKey]; passwordLabel.text = [defaults objectForKey:kPasswordKey]; } - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [self refreshFields]; [super viewDidAppear:animated]; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [self refreshFields]; [self.navigationController setNavigationBarHidden:YES animated:NO]; } - (IBAction) login: (id) sender { { NSString *post =[NSString stringWithFormat:@"username=%@&password=%@",usernameField.text, passwordField.text]; NSString *hostStr = @"http:~iphone_login.php?"; hostStr = [hostStr stringByAppendingString:post]; NSData *dataURL = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL: [ NSURL URLWithString: hostStr ]]; NSString *serverOutput = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:dataURL encoding: NSASCIIStringEncoding]; NSLog(@"Site: %@",hostStr); NSLog(@"Site: %@",serverOutput); if([serverOutput isEqualToString:@"Yes"]){ UIAlertView *alertsuccess = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Congrats" message:@"You are authorized " delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil, nil]; [alertsuccess show]; [alertsuccess release];

  • Trying to compile MobileSubstrate addon - Undefined symbol

    - by eWolf
    Hi! I went through this tutorial to create a MobileSubstrate addon. I could compile the example hook without errors. But as soon as I add #import <SpringBoard/SBAwayController.h> in ExampleHookProtocol.h and SBAwayController *awayController = [SBAwayController sharedAwayController]; in ExampleHookLibrary.mm (as the first line of the __$ExampleHook_AppIcon_Launch function) I get the following error message when attempting to make (triggered by the latter change): Undefined symbols: "_OBJC_CLASS_$_SBAwayController", referenced from: __objc_classrefs__DATA@0 in ExampleHookLibrary.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [ExampleHook.dylib] Error 1. The header file for SBAwayController is located in /var/toolchain/sys30/usr/include/SpringBoard, just like SBApplicationIcon.h, which is used by the ExampleHook. I'm compiling on my iPod touch 2G. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance, Eric

  • Populating cell in UITableView with unique items

    - by aahrens
    I have an array of URL Links that I'm trying to load into a Grouped UITableView. The goal being that I have numberOfSectionsInTableView return [url count] so I can have number of sections equal to the number of url links. Then in numberOfRowsInSection returns 1 so I only populate 1 URL for each section. The trouble I'm having is to ensure that cellForRowAtIndexPath won't keep grabbing the first url link. I suspect it's because it's always grabbing the first url because the rowIndex is always zero. Any ideas how to ensure that each cell in my UITableView is populated with a different url link? - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return [newsItems count]; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return 1; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *MyIdentifier = @"MyIdentifier"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:MyIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:MyIdentifier] autorelease]; cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:MyIdentifier] autorelease]; cell.textLabel.lineBreakMode = UILineBreakModeWordWrap; cell.textLabel.numberOfLines = 5; } // Configure the cell. Get the title of the news item that was parsed out int newsItemIndex = [indexPath indexAtPosition: [indexPath length] - 1]; [cell.textLabel setText:[[newsItems objectAtIndex: newsItemIndex] objectForKey: @"link"]]; return cell; }

  • convert string to date and write back into NSMutableArray

    - by padatronic
    I have a NSMutableArray I get by loading a plist into it. The date field comes in as a string and i want to change it into a nsdate. I can change an nsstring into an nsdate. My array is an array of objects like the one below; { Date = "1/1/2009" Description = "Have you ever looked at a badger and thought i wonder how far you could fire that out of a cannon? Well this talk is for you"; File = "http://www.badgerCannon.org.uk/mp3/070310pm.mp3"; Series = "The Badger planet"; Speaker = "Will Ferell"; Title = "Is it a bird, is it a plane? no its a badger"; } I loop through and pull out the date and convert it from a NSString to a NSDate. I try writing it back in using the code; [[self.MediaDataArray objectAtIndex:i] replaceObjectAtIndex:0 withObject:Date]; but it errors and i am pretty sure it is because i am not putting it back into the array in the same format, ie just as a date not as date = "date". But lets face it i don't really know! Am i barking up the wrong tree? Please help, i have got the coding equivalent of writters block, or alternatively am just being really stupid! thanks in advance

  • Transparent Background with a Modal UIViewController

    - by Mick Walker
    I have a dilema, I want to present to the user a semi-transparent view. I found out by experimenting that if I simply pushed the transparent view to the top of my NavigationController's stack, that it would not render the transparency level I wanted. So I decided to simply add the view as a subview of the current view at the top of the stack. This solution works, the view below is still visible, and the View is 'semi-modal'. The problem is, if the parent view inherits from UITableViewController (as mine does), then the view I 'push' onto it, does not cover the navigation bar at the top. I really don't want to get into a situation where I am forced to enable / disable controls on the navigation bar every time I push this view, so I was wondering, if anyone knew of any solutions that I could use so that the view I push onto the UITableViewController will actually 'push over' the navigation bar?

  • How can UISearchDisplayController autorelease cause crash in a different view controller?

    - by Tofrizer
    Hi, I have two view controllers A and B. From A, I navigate to view controller B as follows: // in View Controller A // navigateToB method -(void) navigateToB { BViewController *bViewController = [[BViewController alloc] initWithNibName: @"BView" bundle:nil]; bViewController.bProperty1 = SOME_STRING_CONSTANT; bViewController.title = @"A TITLE OF A VC's CHOOSING"; [self.navigationController pushViewController: bViewController animated:YES]; [bViewController release]; //<----- releasing 0x406c1e0 } In BViewController, the property bPropery1 is defined with copy as below (note, B also contains UITableView and other properties): @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *bProperty1; Everything appeared to work fine when navigating back and forth between A and B. That is until I added a UISearchDisplayController to the table view contained in BViewController. Now when I navigate out of B, back to A, the app crashes. Stack trace shows what looks the search display controller being autoreleased at time of crash: #0 0x009663a7 in ___forwarding___ #1 0x009426c2 in __forwarding_prep_0___ #2 0x018c8539 in -[UISearchDisplayController _destroyManagedTableView] #3 0x018c8ea4 in -[UISearchDisplayController dealloc] #4 0x00285ce5 in NSPopAutoreleasePool NSZombies shows: -[BViewController respondsToSelector:]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x406c1e0 And malloc history on this points to the bViewController already released in A's navigateToB method above: Call [2] [arg=132]: thread_a065e720 |start ... <snip> ..._sendActionsForEvents:withEvent:] | -[UIControl sendAction:to:forEvent:] | - [UIApplication sendAction:to:from:forEvent:] | -[**AViewController navigateToB**] | +[NSObject alloc] | +[NSObject allocWithZone:] | _internal_class_createInstance | _internal_class_createInstanceFromZone | calloc | malloc_zone_calloc Can someone please give me any ideas on what is happening here? In navigateToB method, once the bViewController is released (after pushViewController), that's should be it for bViewController. Nothing else even knows about it as it is local to the navigateToB method block and it has been released. When navigating from B back to A, nothing is invoked in viewDidLoad, viewWillAppear etc that will re-enter navigateToB. It looks like somehow search display controller has a reference to something in my AViewController and so as it is autoreleased it is taking this "something" down with it but I cannot understand how this is possible, especially as I'm using copy to pass data between A and B. I'm going potty over this. I'm sure this is my mistake somewhere and so I turn to you, Stack Overflow legends for any words of wisdom or advice on how to resolve this. Many Thanks.

  • UISegmentedControl register taps on selected segment

    - by Jongsma
    Hi, I have a segmented control where the user can select how to order a list. Works fine. However, I would like that when an already selected segment is tapped, the order gets inverted. I have all the code in place, but I don't know how to register the taps on those segments. It seems the only control event you can use is UIControlEventValueChanged, but that isn't working (since the selected segment isn't actually changing). Is there a solution for this? And if so, what is it? Thanks in advance!

  • Memory over-release problem when I am animating UIView

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I have enabled NSZombie's and I am getting the following message in my console when I am running my application: *** -[UIViewAnimationState release]: message sent to deallocated instance 0xf96d7e0 Here is the method that is performing the animation -(void)loadAvatar:(STObject*)st { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; avatar.alpha = 0; avatar.frame = avatarRectSmall; avatar.image = [ImageCache getMemoryCachedImageAtUrl:st.avatar_url]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.50]; avatar.frame = avatarRectNormal; [avatar setAlpha:1]; [UIView commitAnimations]; [pool release]; pool = nil; } I don't always get a crash, only sometimes. I'm wondering what is getting released?

  • Check if UINavigationItem title is truncated

    - by PartiallyFinite
    I want to check whether the title of a UINavigationItem is truncated. I set the title like this: self.navigationItem.title = whatever. I know I can check if the text in a UILabel is truncated like this: CGSize size = [label.text sizeWithFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"myfont" size:18.0]]; if (size.width > label.bounds.size.width) { // set a shorter title } And I can even find the UINavigationItemView object in which the title is displayed like so: UIView *navItemView; for (UIView *view in self.navigationController.navigationBar.subviews) { if ([view isKindOfClass:NSClassFromString(@"UINavigationItemView")]) { navItemView = view; } } But I cannot apply this method to the navItemView because is always seems to have a width of exactly 58, which is much less than the title in it, so according to that, it would appear that the title is truncated, even when it isn't. So, my question comes down to this: How do I find the width of the title displayed in the UINavigationItem? UPDATE: I have found a solution to my problem, but it isn't exactly ideal, perfect, or reliable, so I am not marking it as an answer yet. If anyone has any better solutions, please share them.

In addition to this, is there some notification I can subscribe to that returns the NSRange of the selected body of text once it is selected? Thanks for any help!

  • Why I add the CGPoint in the NSMultable Array?

    - by Tattat
    I want to store my CGPoint to the NSMultable Array, so , I have method like this: [self.points addObject:CGPointMake(x, y)]; But I got the error, it said that : Incompatible type for argument 1 of "addObject". So, I check out the API, (void)addObject:(id)anObject anObject The object to add to the end of the receiver's content. This value must not be nil. So, I think the "CGPointMake" can make a Object, but it can't be assigned. What happens?

  • Is this a tableView issue or a CoreData Issue

    - by monotreme
    I have a CoreData-driven navigation app and I'm trying to figure out why It's crashing. I've got a hierarchy which is 3 view Controllers deep, all related by coredata relatioships, like this. TableViewA =relationship= TableViewB =relationship= TableViewC I'm honestly a novice at core data and I think my problem lies in the fetched results controller. I have one in TableViewA and another in TableViewB, and no matter how deep I go, the console always cites TableViewB's fetched results controller methods after a crash. Is this the problem? What's happening specifically is if I launch my app and drill down into the hierarchy of one record, let's call it Record1, I can delete sub records to my hearts content. Gone! no problem! But the second I go back to TableViewA and drill down into a different record, let's call that one Record2, and try to delete it's subrecords my app crashes, with the console citing this code from TableViewB as the problem. - (void)controllerWillChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller { // The fetch controller is about to start sending change notifications, so prepare the table view for updates. [self.tableView beginUpdates]; } When I go into the debugger, the specific method it always has a problem with is: if (![x.managedObjectContext save:&error]) { NSLog(@"Unresolved error %@, %@", error, [error userInfo]); abort(); } Just a confirmation of my idiocy with CoreData is all I'm looking for I think. Oh and how many ManagedObjectContexts should I have in an app of this type. I've been told I should have separate ones for adding content, which then should re-integrate into the main one. Is this true? Thanks!

  • Is there a difference between only <NSXMLParserDelegate>, only setDelegate method, or the use of bot

    - by gotye
    Hey, I noticed that when I do this : [myParser setDelegate:self]; it works :D (even if I didn't add the code in the header file ... you know, the <delegateStuff, delegateOtherStuff> in the interface declaration) When are you supposed to modify the header file to make your delegate work ? Is the setDelegate method enough to make it work ? Cheers for any help ;) Gauthier

  • How can I disable usb-autosuspend for a specific device?

    - by black_puppydog
    This is related to the issue discussed in this question. Summary: the mouse freezes when operating on battery since it is autosuspended after a certain time and needs more time to wake up. Disabling usb-autosuspend for the mouse's receiver in powertop is a temporary solution but does not survive a reboot. How can I permanently disable the usb autosuspend for only one specific device? A solution that does not involve installing additional packages is preferred (after all, I want to disable something) but not required. Removing powertop (which seems to be a solution for some) is not what I want - I like poertop... And installing laptop-mode-tools to disable usb_autosuspend alltogether is not what I want, either, thus the new question. Also: will this affect the battery of my notebook? The logitech unifying receiver for the mouse stays connected all the time, so if that prevents the autosuspend from happening for all devices that would probably be bad.

  • How to play the same Sound multiple times with overlap, using OpenAL or Finch?

    - by mystify
    Finch uses OpenAL. However, when I have an instance of Sound, and say -play, the sound plays. When I call -play multiple times one after another in a fast paced way, every -play makes the current sound playback of that sound stop and restart it. That's not what I want. Would I have to create multiple sources or buffers to get that working? Or would I just instantiate multiple Sounds with the same file?
