  This question was inspired by What features would you like to see added to C++? (also see What features do you miss in C++?). C++ is a great general-purpose language, but perhaps too general and feature-rich: multiple inheritance, operator overloading, manual memory management, templates, smart pointers, virtual destructors, legacy frameworks (think MFC), and I could go on. Is there any one feature or aspect of C++ that you would like removed to make our lives easier as C++ developers? One feature per answer, please.

• Efficient quaternion angular velocity

  I have an orientation expressed with a quaternion and an angular velocity expressed as either a quaternion or a number (radians per second around the original orientation). I understand how to do this using conversion to axis-angle but that method is rather computationally expensive and is not a realistic option. How would I go about modifying the orientation quaternion given a time interval (in seconds)? I need a solution for both cases (the quaternion and the number).

  Hello all, Is there an equivalent of MySQLs on update field for SQL server? With both DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP and ON UPDATE CURRENT_TIMESTAMP clauses, the column has the current timestamp for its default value, and is automatically updated. What I am looking for is to have a date/time field and every time I update a record it updates the field with the date/time it was updated automatically? If it doesn't exist, I guess I'll have to go manual. Thanks all

  I am working on Silverlight 3.0 and currently using code-behind in my Views. I would like to implement the MV(VM) pattern into my project as the project is growing. I have seen some WPF projects where the code-behind has NO CODE except for the InitializeComponent method, which I believe is the right way to go and just looks clean. • C++: Chr() and unichr() equivalent?

  I could have sworn I used a chr() function 40 minutes ago but can't find the file. I know it can go up to 256 so I use this: std::string chars = ""; chars += (char) 42; //etc So that's alright, but I really want to access unicode characters. Can I do (w_char) 512? Or maybe something just like the unichr() function in python, I just can't find a way to access any of those characters.

  I know I can set up a role to allow user's to only edit their own pages, then go mark the appropriate pages to be authored by the appropriate user. But then I run into multiple users per page problems. Is there any way that you can explicitly only allow a user to edit certain (perhaps multiple) pages, while accounting for overlap in the case that more than one user may be allowed to edit the same page? Only the source files (developers have to download or somehow resolve the dependencies themselves) or the both the source files and the dependencies? I may add that dependencies are all third parties and available for download for free.

  I currently have a view (Drupal 6 using Views2) that properly aggregates a custom content type (videos) and filters them for a page display. When I create a block display, it previews the results in live preview just great, but when i go to the page expecting to see the block it doesn't appear. I'm fairly certain the argument I'm attempting to pass it fails because when I select "Display all results" for "Action to take if argument does not validate:" the block shows up on the page just fine. Any advice definitely appreciated.

  Hello everyone, I see there's a lot of talk here about how to go about sanitizing data. Could it be as simple as adding this rewrite rule to .htaccess? RewriteRule ^([\w\-]+)$ index.php?page=$1 To my understanding this will allow only letters, numbers, _ and - in $1, am I right? If you add to this usage of prepared statements for SQL queries, it should be pretty proof, is that right? Somehow feels like too easy to be true, am I missing something, any ways to firm it up?
