  • storing session data in mysql using php is not retrieving the data properly from the tables.

    - by Ronedog
I have a problem retrieving some data from the $_SESSION using php and mysql. I've commented out the line in php.ini that tells the server to use the "file" to store the session info so my database will be used. I have a class that I use to write the information to the database and its working fine. When the user passes their credentials the class gets instantiated and the $_SESSION vars get set, then the user gets redirected to the index page. The index.php page includes the file where the db session class is, which when instantiated calles session_start() and the session variables should be in $_SESSION, but when I do var_dump($_SESSION) there is nothing in the array. However, when I look at the data in mysql, all the session information is in there. Its acting like session_start() has not been called, but by instantiating the class it is. Any idea what could be wrong? Here's the HTML: <?php include_once "classes/phpsessions_db/class.dbsession.php"; //used for sessions var_dump($_SESSION); ?> <html> . . . </html> Here's the dbsession class: <?php error_reporting(E_ALL); class dbSession { function dbSession($gc_maxlifetime = "", $gc_probability = "", $gc_divisor = "") { // if $gc_maxlifetime is specified and is an integer number if ($gc_maxlifetime != "" && is_integer($gc_maxlifetime)) { // set the new value @ini_set('session.gc_maxlifetime', $gc_maxlifetime); } // if $gc_probability is specified and is an integer number if ($gc_probability != "" && is_integer($gc_probability)) { // set the new value @ini_set('session.gc_probability', $gc_probability); } // if $gc_divisor is specified and is an integer number if ($gc_divisor != "" && is_integer($gc_divisor)) { // set the new value @ini_set('session.gc_divisor', $gc_divisor); } // get session lifetime $this->sessionLifetime = ini_get("session.gc_maxlifetime"); //Added by AARON. cancel the session's auto start, important, without this the session var's don't show up on next pg. session_write_close(); // register the new handler session_set_save_handler( array(&$this, 'open'), array(&$this, 'close'), array(&$this, 'read'), array(&$this, 'write'), array(&$this, 'destroy'), array(&$this, 'gc') ); register_shutdown_function('session_write_close'); // start the session @session_start(); } function stop() { $new_sess_id = $this->regenerate_id(true); session_unset(); session_destroy(); return $new_sess_id; } function regenerate_id($return_val=false) { // saves the old session's id $oldSessionID = session_id(); // regenerates the id // this function will create a new session, with a new id and containing the data from the old session // but will not delete the old session session_regenerate_id(); // because the session_regenerate_id() function does not delete the old session, // we have to delete it manually //$this->destroy($oldSessionID); //ADDED by aaron // returns the new session id if($return_val) { return session_id(); } } function open($save_path, $session_name) { // global $gf; // $gf->debug_this($gf, "GF: Opening Session"); // change the next values to match the setting of your mySQL database $mySQLHost = "localhost"; $mySQLUsername = "user"; $mySQLPassword = "pass"; $mySQLDatabase = "sessions"; $link = mysql_connect($mySQLHost, $mySQLUsername, $mySQLPassword); if (!$link) { die ("Could not connect to database!"); } $dbc = mysql_select_db($mySQLDatabase, $link); if (!$dbc) { die ("Could not select database!"); } return true; } function close() { mysql_close(); return true; } function read($session_id) { $result = @mysql_query(" SELECT session_data FROM session_data WHERE session_id = '".$session_id."' • hibernate column uniqueness question

    - by Seth
I'm still in the process of learning hibernate/hql and I have a question that's half best practices question/half sanity check. Let's say I have a class A: @Entity public class A { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) private Long id; @Column(unique=true) private String name = ""; //getters, setters, etc. omitted for brevity } I want to enforce that every instance of A that gets saved has a unique name (hence the @Column annotation), but I also want to be able to handle the case where there's already an A instance saved that has that name. I see two ways of doing this: 1) I can catch the org.hibernate.exception.ConstraintViolationException that could be thrown during the session.saveOrUpdate() call and try to handle it. 2) I can query for existing instances of A that already have that name in the DAO before calling session.saveOrUpdate(). Right now I'm leaning towards approach 2, because in approach 1 I don't know how to programmatically figure out which constraint was violated (there are a couple of other unique members in A). Right now my DAO.save() code looks roughly like this: public void save(A a) throws DataAccessException, NonUniqueNameException { Session session = sessionFactory.getCurrentSession(); try { session.beginTransaction(); Query query = null; //if id isn't null, make sure we don't count this object as a duplicate if(obj.getId() == null) { query = session.createQuery("select count(a) from A a where a.name = :name").setParameter("name", obj.getName()); } else { query = session.createQuery("select count(a) from A a where a.name = :name " + "and a.id != :id").setParameter("name", obj.getName()).setParameter("name", obj.getName()); } Long numNameDuplicates = (Long)query.uniqueResult(); if(numNameDuplicates > 0) throw new NonUniqueNameException(); session.saveOrUpdate(a); session.getTransaction().commit(); } catch(RuntimeException e) { session.getTransaction().rollback(); throw new DataAccessException(e); //my own class } } Am I going about this in the right way? Can hibernate tell me programmatically (i.e. not as an error string) which value is violating the uniqueness constraint? By separating the query from the commit, am I inviting thread-safety errors, or am I safe? How is this usually done? Thanks!

  • c# linq to xml dynamic query

    - by David Archer
    Right, bit of a strange question; I have been doing some linq to XML work recently (see my other recent posts here and here). Basically, I want to be able to create a query that checks whether a textbox is null before it's value is included in the query, like so: XDocument db = XDocument.Load(xmlPath); var query = (from vals in db.Descendants("Customer") where (if(textbox1.Text != "") {vals.Element("CustomerID") == Convert.ToInt32(textbox1.Text) } || if(textbox2.Text != "") {vals.Element("Name") == textbox2.Text}) select vals).ToList();

  • What is C# equivalent of PHP's mysql_fetch_array function?

    - by Mike Biff
I am learning C#/ASP.NET and I am wondering what the C# equivalent of the following PHP code is? I know the userid, and I want to fetch the rows from this table into the array of the variable "row", so I then can use it as "row['name']" and "row['email']. $result = mysql_query("SELECT email, name FROM mytable WHERE id=7"); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result, MYSQL_ASSOC)) { printf("Email: %s Name: %s", $row["email"], $row["name"]); } Thanks.

  • Rails: find by day of week with timestamp

    - by Sleepycat
I need to grab the records for same day of the week for the preceeding X days of the week. There must be a better way to do it than this: Transaction.find_by_sql "select * from transactions where EXTRACT(DOW from date) = 1 and organisation_id = 4 order by date desc limit 7" It gets me what I need but is Postgres specific and not very "Rails-y". Date is a timestamp. Anyone got suggestions?

  • "Go to file" feature in various editors

    - by hekevintran
In TextMate there is a feature called "Go to file" that is used for file navigation. It is a box where you type the name of a file in your project and it will use fuzzy matching to generate a list of candidates files from which you can select. Other editors have this feature, but they each give it a different name: Vim fuzzyfinder Emacs fuzzy-find-in-project TextMate Go to file (fuzzy) Eclipse OpenResource (not fuzzy) Eclipse GotoFile (fuzzy) Komodo Go to File (not fuzzy) Netbeans Go to file (not fuzzy) Does jEdit, Geany, or Ultraedit have this feature?

  • Customising Silverlight AutoCompleteBox with multiple filtered ListBoxes

    - by ianbeks
Hi, How should I go about customising the AutoCompleteBox in Silverlight so that while typing I can filter multiple Selector ListBoxes. Basically I want a Popup that contains 'n' ListBoxes vertically stacked and when I type, the filtering operates on all of them simultaneously. I can then select an item from any of the ListBoxes. Thanks in advance for any guidance you may have. Beks

  • Authlogic OpenID: Fetching E-Mail from Provider.

    - by Shripad K
This is a really weird problem: I have set up the authlogic_openid_selector_example app. When i register, the email id is not returned by the openid provider the first time. But if i delete the account and register again, the email id is returned. But this doesn't seem to be happening in the example hosted here: http://big-glow-mama.heroku.com/. How do i fix this problem? Has this got to do with caching? I have hosted my version of the app here: http://pingauthtest.heroku.com/ I guess the author of authlogic_openid_selector_example app (@holden) has forgotten to commit new changes. :) I looked at my development log and the first time the provider doesn't return the openid.ext1.value.ext0 which contains the email id. This is returned the second time only after having deleted the account first. Edit: This is some extra info for debugging: THIS IS WHEN IT REGISTERS: OpenIdAuthentication::Association Load (5.3ms) SELECT * FROM "open_id_authentication_associations" WHERE ("open_id_authentication_associations"."server_url" = E'https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud') Generated checkid_setup request to https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud with assocication AOQobUde_9BUnQsk91rb_Sf9tguJ-S7Gpkwahc-nvDGDYAC8nphisNqu Redirected to https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud? openid.assoc_handle=AOQobUde_9BUnQsk91rb_Sf9tguJ-S7Gpkwahc-nvDGDYAC8nphisNqu &openid.ax.mode=fetch_request &openid.ax.required=ext0 &openid.ax.type.ext0=http%3A%2F%2Faxschema.org%2Fcontact%2Femail &openid.claimed_id=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select &openid.identity=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select &openid.mode=checkid_setup &openid.ns=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0 &openid.ns.ax=http%3A%2F%2Fopenid.net%2Fsrv%2Fax%2F1.0 &openid.ns.sreg=http%3A%2F%2Fopenid.net%2Fextensions%2Fsreg%2F1.1 &openid.realm=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A3000%2F &openid.return_to=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A3000%2Faccount%3Ffor_model%3D1%26_method%3Dpost%26open_id_complete%3D1 &openid.sreg.required=email Completed in 3574ms (DB: 14) | 302 Found [http://localhost/account] THIS IS WHEN IT USES SESSIONS: OpenIdAuthentication::Association Load (5.3ms) SELECT * FROM "open_id_authentication_associations" WHERE ("open_id_authentication_associations"."server_url" = E'https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud') Generated checkid_setup request to https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud with assocication AOQobUde_9BUnQsk91rb_Sf9tguJ-S7Gpkwahc-nvDGDYAC8nphisNqu Redirected to https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud? openid.assoc_handle=AOQobUde_9BUnQsk91rb_Sf9tguJ-S7Gpkwahc-nvDGDYAC8nphisNqu &openid.ax.mode=fetch_request &openid.claimed_id=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select &openid.identity=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select &openid.mode=checkid_setup &openid.ns=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0 &openid.ns.ax=http%3A%2F%2Fopenid.net%2Fsrv%2Fax%2F1.0 &openid.ns.sreg=http%3A%2F%2Fopenid.net%2Fextensions%2Fsreg%2F1.1 &openid.realm=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A3000%2F &openid.return_to=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A3000%2Fuser_session%3Ffor_session%3D1%26_method%3Dpost%26open_id_complete%3D1 Completed in 2708ms (DB: 15) | 302 Found [http://localhost/user_session]

  • Getting EL variable properties in eclipse

    - by wheresrhys
I'm using Eclipse/Spring source to edit JSP tags and EL. If I want to check what all the properties of a variable are is there a way to do this? Or even find out which file is generating the variable that's passed in. I'm thinking something along the lines of firebug for Javascript, where you can select an object and drill-down to get it's properties.
