  I am working on an Asset Database problem. I enter assets into a database. Every object is an asset and has variables within the asset table. An object is also a type of asset. In this example the type is server. Here is the Query to retrieve all necessary data: SELECT asset.id ,asset.company ,asset.location ,asset.purchaseDate ,asset.purchaseOrder ,asset.value ,asset.type ,asset.notes ,server.manufacturer ,server.model ,server.serialNumber ,server.esc ,server.warranty ,server.user ,server.prevUser ,server.cpu ,server.memory ,server.hardDrive FROM asset LEFT JOIN server ON server.id = asset.id WHERE asset.id = '$id' I then assign all results into single php variables. • How to enable i18n from within setup_app in websetup.py ?

  From within the setup_app function (websetup.py) of a pylons i18n application, which is making use of a db, I was trying to initiate multilingual content to be inserted into the db. To do so the idea was something like: necessary imports here def setup_app(command, conf, vars): .... for lang in langs: set_lang(lang) content=model.Content() content.content=_('content') Session.add(content) Session.commit() Unfortunately it seems that it doesn't work. the set_lang code line is firing an exception as follows: File ".. i18n/translation.py", line 179, in set_lang translator = _get_translator(lang, **kwargs) File ".. i18n/translation.py", line 160, in _get_translator localedir = os.path.join(rootdir, 'i18n') File ".. /posixpath.py", line 67, in join elif path == '' or path.endswith('/'): AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'endswith' Actually I'm even not sure it could be possible launching i18n mechanisms from within this setup_app function without an active request object. • initWithCoder works, but init seems to be overwriting my objects properties?

  Hi guys, I've been trying to teach myself how to use the Archiving/Unarchiving methods of NSCoder, but I'm stumped. I have a Singleton class that I have defined with 8 NSInteger properties. I am trying to save this object to disk and then load from disk as needed. I've got the save part down and I have the load part down as well (according to NSLogs), but after my "initWithCoder:" method loads the object's properties appropriately, the "init" method runs and resets my object's properties back to zero. I'm probably missing something basic here, but would appreciate any help! It shows all of the form attributes, and all of the default values are filled in (when users do a GET)... EXCEPT for the default values for the ManyToMany field 'bans'. Basically, if an admins clicks on a Room object to edit, the page they go to will show all of the Rooms default values except for the 'bans'. No matter what I do, I can't find a way to get Django to display the currently 'banned users' for the Room object. Here is the line of code that needs to be changed (from the view): defaults = {'type': room.type, 'number': room.number, 'partyline': room.partyline.id} if room.owner: defaults['owner'] = room.owner.id if room.bans: defaults['bans'] = room.bans.all() ### this does not work properly!   In BioPerl, a sequence object can have any number of features, and each of these can have subfeatures nested within them. For example, a feature may be a complete coding sequence of a gene, and its subfeatures might be individual exons that are concatenated to form the full coding sequence. However, when I use BioPerl to write a sequence object to a file in genbank or embl format, only the top-level features are written to the file, not the sub-features nested within the top-level features. How can I store my subfeatures in sequence files? Should I just convert all my subfeatures into top-level features, and then reconstruct the tree structure next time I read in the sequence?

• NSNotification on multiple objects

  Hi, In my NSApp delegate I add an observer of an object that is an NSWindow subclass that gets initiated in the delegate itself and that posts a notification once the window gets clicked. The selector is also in the delegate. From that same delegate class I initiate another object which when initiated adds itself as an observer for another window of the same NSWindow subclass of above and the selector is in this newly initiated class too. Both notifications get posted but the problem is that they get posted in both classes... Is this normal? I was hoping that it only got posted once.

I am wondering if it's anything to do with the threads? But I wouldn't know how to solve it if it was. The complete exception thrown is: The object invoked has disconnected from its clients. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010108 (RPC_E_DISCONNECTED))

I have following code in my model. class Company include Mongoid::Document include Mongoid::Timestamps references_many :people, :stored_as => :array, :inverse_of => :companies end class Person include Mongoid::Document include Sunspot::Mongoid references_many :companies, :stored_as => :array, :inverse_of => :people end Now in Company object we get person_ids as a result of stored_as array and company_ids in Person object. Now initially I inserted lots of person in company and the ids in person_ids fields is huge. Now I deleted most of person from company down to 8 people. Now I don't get why person_ids fields of Company object storing all the deleted ids of person. • Entity Relationship Multiple 1:1's

  I have an application where I have a generic object (table) called Hull. Each hull in the table is unique. I have another object that has three hulls, but they are specifically the Port_Hull, Center_Hull and Starboard_Hull. Rather than create a One to Many relationship, I was trying to create a one to one relationship for each one, but this results in numerous errors unless I make the relationship from Hull to Vessel one to many (which it is not). Any idea how I go about this, or should I abandon the concept and make the vessel to hull relationship one to many and deal with lists that always have three entries? p.s. Using uniqueidentifiers as many users can be adding records while disconnected. Hull Table HullID uniqueidentifier (primary key) plus bunch of hull data fields Vessel Table VesselID uniqueidentifier (primary key) MainHullID uniqueidentifier (tried as key and non-key) PortHullID uniqueidentifier StarboardHullID uniqueidentifier plus bunch of Vessel data fields

  This is a simplified example - I have two threads: Can JavaME and/Proguard ever reorder the obX = ... statements, such that thread_B will have a null pointer exception at ob2.someMethod? thread_A: Object ob1 = null; Object ob2 = null; ... ob1 = something1; ob2 = something2; thread_B: if (ob2 != null) { ob1.someMethod(); ... } P.S. I do realise that synchronising these will avoid the issue. Synchronisation has both a performance overhead, and more importantly, a chance to introduce deadlock.

• Python constructor does weird things with optional parameters

  Can you help me understand of the behaviour and implications of the python __init__ constructor. It seems like when there is an optional parameter and you try and set an existing object to a new object the optional value of the existing object is preserved and copied. Ok that was confusing... so look at an example I concocted below. In the code below I am trying to make a tree structure with nodes and possibly many children . In the first class NodeBad, the constructor has two parameters, the value and any possible children. The second class NodeGood only takes the value of the node as a parameter. Both have an addchild method to add a child to a node. When creating a tree with the NodeGood class, it works as expected. However, when doing the same thing with the NodeBad class, it seems as though a child can only be added once! The code below will result in the following output: Good Tree 1 2 3 [< 3 >] Bad Tree 1 2 2 [< 2 >, < 3 >] Que Pasa? • Post request with body_stream and parameters

  Hello, I'm building some kind of proxy. When I call some url in a rack application, I forward that request to an other url. The request I forward is a POST with a file and some parameters. I want to add more parameters. But the file can be quite big. So I send it with Net::HTTP#body_stream instead of Net::HTTP#body. I get my request as a Rack::Request object and I create my Net::HTTP object with that. req = Net::HTTP::Post.new(request.path_info) req.body_stream = request.body req.content_type = request.content_type req.content_length = request.content_length http = Net::HTTP.new(@host, @port) res = http.request(req) I've tried several ways to add the proxy's parameters. But it seems nothing in Net::HTTP allows to add parameters to a body_stream request, only to a body one. Is there a simpler way to proxy a rack request like that ? Or a clean way to add my parameters to my request ?

• Can't get custom error rendering to work in symfony 1.4

At first I thought that all magic in that example happened because of object being placed in $error by iteration implements __toString() but it seems no iterations happens at all...

• How to read the response stream before the Http response completes

  When making a request using HttpWebRequest object, I need to call the method GetResponse() to send the request and get the response back. The problem with this method is that it doesn't return the response object until all data has been received. Say I am downloading a 100 MB file, I won't be able to read it until the response finish and all the 100 MB is downloaded. What I want is to be able to read the response stream bytes as soon as they arrive, without waiting for the response to complete. I know I can use the Range Http header, but it won't work on my situation.

• Render only the segment/area of a circle that intersects the main circle

  I absolutely love maths (or 'math' as most of you would say!) but I haven't done it to a level where I know the answer to this problem. I have a main circle which could have a centre point at any x and y on a display. Other circles will move around the display at will but at any given call to a render method I want to render not only those circles that intersect the main circle, but also only render the segment of that circle that is visible inside the main circle. An analogy would be a shadow cast on a real life object, and I only want to draw the part of that object that is 'illuminated'. I want to do this preferably in Java, but if you have a raw formula that would be appreciated. I wonder how one might draw the shape and fill it in Java, I'm sure there must be some variation on a polyline with arcs or something? Many thanks

• Weird behaviour of a deserialized class

  I've got a huge XML file that's being deserialized by XmlSerializer in an XSD-generated class structure. Everything used to work just fine, but now a weird thing started happening. Sometimes (50% of runs) a field of a certain object of a class that's deep in the class tree just changes to a certain value of the same field of a different object of the same class. It happens when entering some function, when debugger steps from opening "{" to the first line of code. I understand that it's stupid question, but maybe someone have any thoughts?

  My SMF forum contains posts with video and I want to extract them to show on the Wordpress main page. My current regexp (thanks to SO!) extracts the url of the videos, which I embed using AutoEmbed. How can I use the regexp to look for "src=" for <embed> and "data=" for <object>?

• strerror_r returns trash when I manually set errno during testing

  During testing I have a mock object which sets errno = ETIMEDOUT; The object I'm testing sees the error and calls strerror_r to get back an error string: if (ret) { if (ret == EAI_SYSTEM) { char err[128]; strerror_r(errno, err, 128); err_string.assign(err); } else { err_string.assign(gai_strerror(ret)); } return ret; } I don't understand why strerror_r is returning trash. I even tried calling strerror_r(ETIMEDOUT, err, 128) directly and still got trash. I must be missing something. It seems I'm getting the gnu version of the function not the posix one, but that shouldn't make any difference in this case.

• Invoking play on a QTMovie causes screensaver to deactivate on Snow Leopard

  I'm trying to port a working Leopard screensaver to Snow Leopard but it's deactivating after about half a second. The screensaver seems to deactivate upon invoking play on a QTMovie. And it deactivates both upon -play on the QTMovie object itself, and -play:self on the QTMovieView. If I don't actually call -play on the object, the screensaver does not deactivate and sits still on the first frame of the movie. Setting up the same code in a regular Cocoa Application works fine, and the screensaver also works fine in preview mode in the System Preferences. Any help is greatly appreciated.
