  I followed every step given in this guide: http://help.github.com/linux-key-setup/ When I get to the end I am able to ssh to [email protected], getting the response: PTY allocation request failed on channel 0 Hi AlexBaranosky! You've successfully authenticated, but GitHub does not provide shell access. Connection to github.com closed But when I go to clone my repo it fails saying: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly I've used Github a lot, but this is my first use of it from an Ubuntu computer, is there something I am missing here? • trigger config transformation in TFS 2010 or msbuild

  I'm attempting to make use of configuration transformations in a continuous integration environment. I need a way to tell the TFS build agent to perform the transformations. I was kind of hoping it would just work after discovering the config transform files (web.qa-release.config, web.production-release.config, etc...). But it doesn't. I have a TFS build definition that builds the right configurations (qa-release, production-release, etc...) and I have some specific .proj files that get built within these definitions and those contain some environment specific parameters eg: <PropertyGroup Condition=" '$(Configuration)'=='production-release' "> <TargetHost Condition=" '$(TargetHost)'=='' ">qa.web</TargetHost> ... </PropertyGroup> <PropertyGroup Condition=" '$(Configuration)'=='qa-release' "> <TargetHost Condition=" '$(TargetHost)'=='' ">production.web</TargetHost> ... </PropertyGroup> I know from the output that the correct configurations are being built. Now I just need to learn how to trigger the config transformations. Is there some hocus pocus that I can add to the final .proj in the build to kick off the transform and blow away the individual transform files?

• SSH Chown problems

  I have a webserver with multiple domain and user accounts setup. Recently I renamed one of the domain names and changed it's username correspondingly. However, this new user cannot access the data from the domain because it does not have the required permissions. How can I solve this problem? I've tried chown and I still cannot get access to the files. I have SSH root access and this is the only way I can actually move/touch the files but the webserver displays the file through another username which does not have access to the files. Thanks

  Hey I have run into the following problem when attempting to build a program in java which executes commands on a remote linux server and returns the output for processing... Basically I have installed Cygwin with an SSH client and want to do the following: Open Cygwin, Send command "user@ip"; Return output; Send command "password"; Return output; Send multiple other commands, Return output; ...etc... So far: Process proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("C:/Power Apps/Cygwin/Cygwin.bat"); Works nicely except I am at a loss as to how to attempt the next steps. Any help?

• Bash script "read" not pausing for user input when executed from SSH shell

  I'm new to Bash scripting, so please be gentle. I'm connected to a Ubuntu server via SSH (PuTTY) and when I run this command, I expect the bash script that downloads and executes to allow user input and then echo that input. It seems to just write out the echo label for the input request and terminate. wget -O - https://raw.github.com/aaronhancock/pub/master/bash/readtest.sh | bash Any clue what I might be doing wrong?   hello I just set up SSHd through Cygwin on a Windows XP Pro box overseas using a RAT and discluded the openssh package from the install. I ran the cywin shell (from c:\cywin) and ran Now, It's under a port I know is safe and fowarded properly, but I won't share it's number. It's not a common port, but it's under 40000. Firewalls are off etc etc. I'm on the first Admin account made on the box. (It's full admin) I've run the following commands chmod +r /etc/passwd chmod +r /etc/group hmod 777 /var /*Created New Admin User Account To Be Used via SSH*/ mkpasswd -cl > /etc/passwd mkgroup --local > /etc/group I can connect locally, but not externally. I know my ports etc are fine. Any possible problems, as i really need this tunnel up :P

  Does anyone know if there is a way to "transform" specific sections of values instead of replacing the whole value or an attribute? For example, I've got several appSettings entries that specify the Urls for different webservices. These entries are slightly different in the dev environment than the production environment. I've looked through the available web.config Transforms but nothings seems to be geared towars what I am trying to accomplish. • TextMate/Macfusion combo for mounting projects over SSH

  Here is my workflow: I use Macfusion to mount a server over SSH, and then edit the root directory of the project in TextMate (using mate /Volumes/server/projectdir). I have a plug in installed that disables refreshing on refresh. This works ALMOST perfectly--the only thing I have problems with is "Find in Project": it's REALLY slow. Has anyone run into this problem before and been able to find any solutions? Currently I go to terminal when I have to do a search, but it would be great to be able to do it in TextMate. Thanks!

  Hi i have my own ubuntu linux box .... in that i have /home/username/.ssh/id_rsa.pub .. i copied the public key and paste the key into Git Hub. when i try to clone the git repository it says the following error warning: Authentication failed. Disconnected; no more authentication methods available (No further authentication methods available.). I have no idea what is wrong with that.... i have putty tool which connect my server with doing authenetication. becuase i copied my public key to my server known host folder. Can any one please help on this .... its heart breaking here.......

• PowerPoint PlugIn does not read defaults from .dll.config file

  I'm working on a very simple PowerPoint plugin, and I'm quite a bit stumped. In my settings.settings file, I have configured a setting "StartPath", which references where the PowerPoint plugin will navigate to using a Browser component. After I compile the application, and run the installer generated by the Setup project, the application is installed and uses the default value in the settings file. However, if I edit the application.dll.config file, the plugin still uses the old values. How can I set things up such that the plugin references the .dll.config file and not its default settings? • Best way to make a script to SSH?

  My university has quite a lot files (like past papers etc) which I need to be on the uni network to access them. I ssh, using port forwarding, into the network and set my browser (Firefox) to go through that port. I know it would be quite easy to write something in most languages that would enter the command into a terminal, but which language/method could I use to make this happen? I expect some sort of scripting language could but I really know nothing about them, but I'd be willing to learn one just to have a little fun with this. I'm using a cygwin terminal on Windows 7, if that will make a difference. To neaten up my question: Which language would be best to acheive the above effect? Not necessarily the best, just possible and relatively simple to learn. I used the word best so I suppose I'll put a subjective tag.

  Hi, I am searching out for solution to use any of the IDE's such as Netbeans/ eclipse to run .jsp and .java files from a remote machine using linux as the OS. The .java and .jsp files are on the server . So, an IDE which would let me access the server and let me update the files directly on the server would be great. I use SSH terminal to connect to the server to update and get files. Now, if there was an easier way to just have an access using IDE to the linux remote machine. that would be great. • How to configure a tun interface on Linux for SSH port forwarding?

  I am trying to forward port 139 from a Windows machine to my Ubuntu SSH server on a tun interface with the ip address 10.0.0.1. This is so that I can access the windows shares on the machine on my Ubuntu server, through the reverse tunnel. I can forward ports to 127.0.0.1, but not to 10.0.0.1. On windows I am using the Tunnelier ssh client. On my Ubuntu server, the following message is printed in auth.log: Received disconnect from 124.109.51.154: 11: Server denied request for client-side server-2-client forwarding on 10.0.0.1:139. So far i have tried the following settings: GatewayPorts yes PermitTunnel yes AllowTcpForwarding yes in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file, but it did not work. I set up the tun like this: sudo tunctl -t loc_0 -u myusername sudo ifconfig loc_0 inet 10.0.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up The settings in the Tunneler ssh client should not matter because I can forward port 139 successfully to the Microsoft Loopback Adapter on a Windows machine running the WinSSHD server. Versions: Windows is XP SP3, Ubuntu is 10.10. Update: I tried to forward the port to a number greater than 1024 mentioning the IP address of the tun, and it successfully connected but the forwarding was done on 127.0.0.1 instead of the tun's IP address 10.0.0.1. So there are two separate problems now, when connecting from the Windows machine: 1) Forwarding on ports less than 1024 is probably being denied. How can we allow that on the server? 2) Forwarding is done only on 127.0.0.1 even if I mention 10.0.0.1 which is the tun's IP address. Another attempt: I also tried to forward port 22 of a Linux machine to the tun's port 55567. It showed success. But when I tried to ssh into that port using both local addresses, on the Linux machine in its debug display I got the error Connection failed: no route to host when using 127.0.0.1 to connect and simply Connection refused when using the tun's IP address. So the tun is not getting the forwarded port no matter we connect from a Windows client or a Linux client.

• Castle Windsor Project Includes in Config

  I want the properties section of the Castle config to be included from another file. I.e: <castle> <include uri="file://properties.config" /> </castle> The properties.config would then look like: <properties> <smtp>10.10.10.10</smtp> <username>john</username> </properties> I can get the include to work for components but not for properties. If I try to do this with properties I get an exception thrown. Is this a limitation of Castle?

• Escaping Hyphens with pkg-config through qmake

  I am trying to compile an application using qmake that is using pkg-config to bring in yaml-cpp. Unlike using pkg-config through the terminal qmake which is formatted like: pkg-config --libs --cflags yaml-cpp qmake actually spits out the include paths inside the make command like this: -I/usr/local/include/yaml-cpp This include path breaks subsequent includes which I've set in my qmake file. It's not possible for me to rearrange these includes due the order in which qmake parses its variables. Is it possible using qmake to escape the quote somehow or to make it use the first quoted configuration?

• Where are config files for class libraries physically located?

  My guess is that this question will fall under the category of "duh", but, nevertheless, I'm confused. When using config files in, for example, a Windows Forms Application, the config file can be found in C:\Program files\CompanyName\ProductName\Application.exe.config. However, with the class library I'm developing I do not see a "ClassLibrary.dll.config" file in the install folder after installing it (in tandem with another project) from Visual Studio. Even though I do not see the file anywhere, retrieving data from it works correctly. Plus, running the following code from a method within the class library returns the path you would expect: C:\Program files\CompanyName\ProductName\ClassLibrary.dll.config. • Is it possible to configure a location in Web.config to only allow local connections

  Hi All, I've got a page in an ASP.Net app (its Mvc actually but not important) and I would like to only allow connections to this page from the local machine. I would love to do something like this in Web.config: <location path="resources"><system.web><authorization><allow ips="local"/></authorization></system.web></location> I know this is possible with a simple check in the page code behind (or controller) and its even possible just with IIS configuration but I would love a Web.config config as this would be the most elegant solution in my opinion. The frequently changed data are very few. However, since the saving of the settings is always writing the whole (XML) file it is always "slow". Is this possible by just changing the app.config (config.sections)?

  I'm trying to modify the list of allowed users in web.config from a codebehind. <authorization> <allow users="alice, bob"/> <deny users="*"/> </authorization> I successfully retrieve the section I need config = WebConfigurationManager.OpenWebConfiguration("~"); authSection = (AuthorizationSection)config.GetSection("system.web/authorization"); When I iterate looking for the allow rule, I get two of them. foreach (AuthorizationRule rule in authSection.Rules) { if (rule.Action == AuthorizationRuleAction.Allow) { // manage the Users StringCollection } } The first item I get has 'alice' and 'bob' in the Users collection. The SECOND item I get has * Where is this second entry coming from? This is an Allow Rule, not a Deny rule. I could understand the * from a Deny rule. Is there some extra inheritance I'm not aware of?

Is there any way to give current user (IIS User, in this case, ASP NET USER) permission to write to a specific folder location (folder inside our web application) using web.config?   I have an app that works fine on 32-bit systems, but fails on XP 64 bit systems. I've tracked it down to the connection string defined in my app.config thus: <connectionStrings> <clear/> <add name="IFDSConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=fdsdata;Initial Catalog=IFDS; Trusted_Connection=true;Connect Timeout=0" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> When I try to reference it in code, I find that the ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings collection only contains the LocalSqlServer connection string from the machine.config file and not my custom string. Another oddity is that it works fine when I run the app out of Visual Studio. It is only when I run out of the release folder that the connection string does not get defined. The application's .exe.config file is there in the release folder along with the .exe file and is up to date.

• How to figure out why ssh session does not exit sometimes?

  I have a C++ application that uses ssh to summon a connection to the server. I find that sometimes the ssh session is left lying around long after the command to summon the server has exited. Looking at the Centos4 man page for ssh I see the following: The session terminates when the command or shell on the remote machine exits and all X11 and TCP/IP connections have been closed. The exit status of the remote program is returned as the exit status of ssh. I see that the command has exited, so I imagine not all the X11 and TCP/IP connections have been closed. How can I figure out which of these ssh is waiting for so that I can fix my summon command's C++ application to clean up whatever is being left behind that keeps the ssh open. I wonder why this failure only occurs some of the time and not on every invocation? It seems to occur approximately 50% of the time. What could my C++ application be leaving around to trigger this?
