I want to use the following line:
#IfWinActive, Opera
But it doesn't work with the newest version of Opera. I don't think that it has a window name. So how can I get it to work with Opera?
Is there anyway in windows 7 to change the behavior of control-tab so that it acts like it did in XP?
What I want is for it to show the icon of the program, not a thumbnail of the window. Most of the thumbnails look alike and its really hard to instantly tell which is which like I could on XP.
I can not access Contol panel in my windows vista machine.
As soon as i click the "conrol panel" item in start items, it shows up a window and then its closed automatically ( same happens if i use "control" command).
Is there some program or some registry entry thats restricting it? is ther a way to control this behaviour?
It continues to loop to a BSOD and I cant get a dos prompt or repair screen, I dont have recovery disks but I have brought up a window, black, with gray title bar that is labeled Edit Boot Options, below that it has Edit Windows boot options for: Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium
Path: \WINDOWS\system32\winload.exe
Partition:1
Hard Disk: 1549f232
and then it has a place to enter something starting with one of these [ and one or two lines down it has ] what do i enter in this space and is there something i can enter that would help solve my boot up issues
local_machine:$> ssh myself@external_machine_ip_address -p specific_port -X

I do see the emacs window, but I can't see any of the characters. What could be the error ?
Hi, I'm running Ubuntu 9.1 and every time I open a terminal window, I lose the previous command's history. How can I configure it so it's kept even after rebooting? Thanks.
Whenever I select 'Control Panel' from my taskbar all it comes up with is an open window with nothing in it. I'm running Vista and have recently turned of UAC (if this makes a difference). Can anybody help me to change this?
Outlook opens, gets new emails and everything but when I close it, it gives me the following error and then opens up a Save a File window after I cancel this error message.
There's no other computer that may be using Outlook under this User Name because I just set-up a brand new User Name. However, Colligo Briefcase is attached to the Outlook and not sure if this is triggering and if so how I address the issue!? Thanks a lot!
My monitor is 1920 x 1200 and the computer is running Windows 7.
Using VirtualBox and Ubuntu 10.04, the screen of the Ubuntu can only be 800 x 600 or 640 x 480. Is there a way to change that.
I resized the VirtualBox window and Ubuntu still thinks the max is 800 x 600.
Hi,
In ubuntu, I did these commands:
sudo apt-get install build-essential vala-desktop-agnostic checkinstall
sudo apt-get build-dep avant-window-navigator
How can i un-apt-get, or uninstall the packages it pulls in?
I am in terminal mode on Ubuntu, and I'm running emacs with 2 buffers open, one is a ruby file, and the other is a shell (opened by typing M-x shell ), and when I switch to the shell buffer, I want to run the same command that I ran before. I would normally just hit the up arrow in a terminal window, but in emacs, it simply puts the cursor up one line.
Does anyone know of keystroke to run the previous shell command from within an emacs shell?
I'm running WDS on a Server 2003 32-bit system and need to capture a 64-bit Windows 7 image and then image a lab of computers with the 64-bit image.
Can my 32-bit server host a 64-bit boot image, as well as capture a 64-bit machine for imaging? If not, can I use a 32-bit boot image to capture an image from the 64-bit Window 7 machine?
On my windows XP machine when I try to install the DirectX SDK the setup freezes on the first screen.
When I click on the "next" button the system does some processing and stays on the same window. Clicking again on the next button does nothing.
The directX SDK log only contains a single entry for each try:
12/01/09 09:49:03: DXSDKSetup: CLR version number = 2.0.50727
any ideas?
Thank you!
I know with readline you can use emacs or vi commands to edit the input of several
interactive text programs. I wonder if there exists such a similar facility to control
the whole desktop in Gnome or in any other desktop environment.
Maybe it could be a program that intercepts keystrokes and process them in the way vi does, translating sequences of characters to desktop commands and delivering to the active window only the text that is writen in insert mode.
Do you know some tool like that?

I had many programs opened and was typing a message in my web browser and suddenly a window asking me something popped up. I think I was in the middle of typing the word "for" but whatever button I hit seemed to be the confirmation to shutdown the computer. Is there a way to find which program caused this and prevent it in the future? I have a hunch it was JDownloaders fault.
I'm using Windows 7.
I work with four monitors and software that displays a great many windows. Every now and then things go wrong and I'll end up with a window that is partially or completely "off the screen". Is there a trick or utility that will help me rescue the windows and bring them back in to view.
It's really annoying that Excel (2003 and 2007) doesn't show what cell, row
or column that is selected when the window is not in focus. I typically want to
refer to the current cell or row while working in another application.
Is there any workaround or fix that will make the cell/row highlighted when not in focus?
I know that you can copy a cell (Ctrl+C) but it's kind of tiresome to do that every time.
Hi,
In windows you can press the Windows key plus "E" to get the Windows Explorer window to open up any time.
Is there an equivalent global hot-key to get the file explorer to show up?

Is there a way to set the default location of the windows explorer window when you open it?
For example whenever i open windows explorer i want it to open on the 'My Documents' folder.
I've got these problems:
1) sometimes winlogon.exe crashes at boot-up and my whole computer shuts off once i click "no" to visual-studio-2008 just-in-time-debugger window, takes about 30 secs until my harddrives starts up again, its really scary, i am afraid it is causing hardware malfunctions in long term. this has happened dozen of time now.
2) sometimes i leave the computer alone a while, i come back and i notice ctrl+alt+del doesnt work and winlogon.exe is using 100% of one of my 4 cores.
I have just installed ubuntu 10.4 but when i open Firefox it takes lon timeto open and

Any firewall issue
I can't play ANY video or listen ANY mp3. I got the Windows 7, and I was watching vids on youtube until yesterday, but today, NONE of my players in general works (youtube, WMP, Real Player, etc...)! Also, it doesn't help if I use another browser.... HELP! What happens is, I press 'play' on the video and then the window freezes and I just can press the 'x' to close it. Help, thanks A LOT!
What is the best app for supporting multiple monitors in Windows 7? Ultra mon was perfect in Vista and XP but I don't think it works with Windows 7 yet. The main features I'm looking for are:
Taskbar for each monitor with only the apps that are running there. This might not be doable based on how the Windows 7 taskbar works now.
A button next to Minimize to send the window to the other monitor
Separate wallpapers for each monitor
I want to run the same commands on multiple machines, I know I can do this using ssh scripting or things like clusterssh, however I don't want to install anything on the server. (Don't have the rights)
What I want is to just clone the keystrokes across multiple machines e.g. run cat /etc/oratab on one window and same is run on multiple windows e.g. in putty, is there a tool to do that from a windows client.
