  There are a few overviews in the OS X 10.6 docs that I access via XCode, and a bunch of examples, but the actual reference docs seem to be absent. I was able to figure things out by reading the inline comments in the header files (e.g., ICCameraDevice.h), which looks like the source for the XCode docs. Is there a way to install these docs? The biggest problem with the overview writeups and the examples is that they assume you have a GUI. The whole point of ImageCaptureCore, vs. ImageKit, as I understand it is that you don't have a GUI, or want to have your own (my case). Anyone else have a good time figuring out how these APIs work?   I am porting an old 32-bit COM component that was written in VB6 for the purpose of reading and writing to an Active Directory server. The new solution will be in C# and will use SQL CLR user functions. The assembly that I am trying to deploy to SQL Server contains a reference to System.DirectoryServices. The project does compile without any errors but I am unable to deploy the assembly to the SQL Server because of the following error: Error: Assembly 'system.directoryservices, version=2.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a.' was not found in the SQL catalog. What are the correct steps for registering System.DirectoryServices on SQL Server?

• Discussion: Working TDD in a Scrum context

  Hi all, When I work TDD I tend to start out with the big picture and create the tests that should succeed in order for the overall assignment to be completed - it then kicks off a number of supporting classes/methods/tests as I 'dig in'. If my assignment has been planned out in detail, I would then open one task, and in order to solve it, open another and then another. Only when the overall tests are succeeding can I close the original task, which means that at any given time, I would have a number of open tasks. I find that this approach conflict somewhat with the scrum approach where, ideally, I should be able to take and close a task within a day's work - and never have more than one task open at a time. I'm looking for input about how you manage this in your project - references to articles are also very welcome, I'm sure this has been debated thoroughly somewhere... • Caching generated QR Code

  I use zxing to encode a qr code and store it as a bitmap and then show it in ImageView. Since the image generation time is significant I'm planning to move it to a separate thread (AsyncTaskLoader will be fine I think). The problem is - it's an image and I know that to avoid memory leaks one should never store a strong reference to it in an Activity. So how would you do it? How to cache an image to survive config changes (phone rotation) and generally avoid generating it onCreate()? Just point me in the right direction, please.

• Signing an unsigned assembly

  The recent upgrade of NHibernate 2.1 has brought a mega headache situation to the surface. It seems most of the projects build by default as signed assemblies. For example fluentnhibernate references the keyfile fluent.snk. Nhibernate.search builds unsigned from what I can gather and will not build signed that is if you reference a generated keyfile, you get the error: Referenced assembly 'Lucene.Net' does not have a strong name This means projects like castle.activerecord that have nhibernate.search as a dependency will not build as you get the horrendous error referenced assembly nhibernate.search does not have a strong name: Quite a few projects use caslte.activerecord so it is quite important that this builds. Has anyone any idea what to do here as I am totally out of ideas? This is complete madness.

• Where should Nhibernate IPostInsertEventListener go in the 3 tier architecture

  I have a IPostInsertEventListener implementation like public class NHibernateEventListener : IPostInsertEventListener, IPostUpdateEventListener which catches some entity inserts and does an additional insert to another table for ETL. Essentially it requires references to the Nhibernate, Domain entity and Repository<> Now where do I go about adding this class? If I add it to ApplicationServices I’ll end up referencing Nhibernate at that layer. If I add this to the Data layer, I’ll have to reference Domain (circular). How do I go implementing this class with S#arp principles? Any thoughts?

  Looking in the android sdk folders, I've found a file called values/config.xml. This seems to be somewhere that you can define values for later use in layouts and animations. Given the config.xml: <resources> <string name="config_somePadding">50dip</string> </resources> How would I reference this to use as the layout_height in a layout xml file? @string/config_somePadding is actually the only one I've found that doesn't throw an error in Eclipse (even though there isn't a config_somePadding in values/strings.xml), but it appears to just put an empty string.

• Using Library files in Linux

  Hi Guys, Im trying to use some of the functions that are in the /lib/libproc-3.2.6.so library in my Ubuntu Distribution. I have downloaded and installed the header files and they are defined in my source files. Currently this is all im trying to do, just for starters... proc_t **read_proc = readproctab(0); But i get the following compiler error: /tmp/cclqMImG.o: In function `Sysmon::initialise_sysmon()': sysmon.cpp:(.text+0x494): undefined reference to `readproctab' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Im aware im probably doing some wrong with the command im using to compile it, but due to lack of experience im not sure what im doign wrong. This is the g++ command im using to compile my cpp file: g++ -o sysmon.o sysmon.cpp `pkg-config --libs --cflags gtk+-2.0` Can someone please give me some pointers as to where im going wrong Regards Paul

  Hi Guys, I am using this code to get the tags in my wordpress posts for a theme `<?php $posttags = get_the_tags(); if ($posttags) { foreach ($posttags as $tag) { $tagnames[count($tagnames)] = $tag->name; } $comma_separated_tagnames = implode(", ", $tagnames); print_r($comma_separated_tagnames); } ?>` The PROBLEM is that it is returning tags for "all posts" not just individual posts, and I think the problem is that if a post DOESNT have tags - it just inserts tags anyway. Can anyone help modify this so: It return tags only for a post - not all tags If there are no tags for a post, dont return anything ? Really appreciate any help P.S - Can check out here for the wordpress docs

Ex: People older than 26 Name Properties Jane Smart, Funny, Good-looking Joe Smart, Workaholic It's also acceptable to return one of the properties and total property count. The query should be efficient: there are millions of rows in people table, hundreds of thousands of rows in properties table (so most people have no properties). There are hundreds of rows selected at a time. Is there any way to do it?

• Does a Collection<T> wrap an IList<T> or enumerate over the IList<T>?

  If I am exposing a internal member via a Collection property via: public Collection<T> Entries { get { return new Collection<T>(this.fieldImplimentingIList<T>); } } When this property is called what happens? For example what happens when the following lines of code are called: T test = instanceOfAbove.Entries[i]; instanceOfAbove[i] = valueOfTypeT; It's clear that each time this property is called a new reference type is created but what acctually happens? Does it simply wrap the IList<T> underneath, does it enumerate over the IList<T> and to create a new Collection<T> instance? I'm concerned about performance if this property is used in a for loop.

• PHP/Javascript - get php variable within javascript

  I have run into an interesting problem. I am currently developing php page and need to access a php variable within the javascript onload. $(document).ready(function() { var temp = <?php $page_id ?> } is this valid? I know that this might seem weird and not be allowed but I am developing a page that has two popup windows. The windows are created using the same view template and there is no way to distinguish between each other. If I stored a hidden value on the page with information unique to the page like so <input type="hidden" value="<?php $page_id ?> id="page_id" /> if there are two views open at the same time there is no way for me to get a unique page id like so var temp = $("#page_id").val(); Because there are two views witht he same input id that is not unique. Long story short is it valid to reference a php variable in the javascript.

  From the MusicBrainz REST service, I get the following xml: <artist-list offset="0" count="59"> <artist type="Person" id="xxxxx" ext:score="100"> ... Using WCF and XmlSerializationFormat, I'm able to get the type and id attributes... but How do I get the "ext:score" one? This works: public class Artist { [XmlAttribute("id")] public string ID { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("type")] public ArtistType Type { get; set; } But this doesnt: [XmlAttribute("ext:score")] public string Score { get; set; } It produces a serialization exception. I've also tried just using "score", but it doesn't work. Any help?

• MSSQL Search Proper Names Full Text Index vs LIKE + SOUNDEX

  I have a database of names of people that has (currently) 35 million rows. I need to know what is the best method for quickly searching these names. The current system (not designed by me), simply has the first and last name columns indexed and uses "LIKE" queries with the additional option of using SOUNDEX (though I'm not sure this is actually used much). Performance has always been a problem with this system, and so currently the searches are limited to 200 results (which still takes too long to run). So, I have a few questions: Does full text index work well for proper names? If so, what is the best way to query proper names? (CONTAINS, FREETEXT, etc) Is there some other system (like Lucene.net) that would be better? Just for reference, I'm using Fluent NHibernate for data access, so methods that work will with that will be preferred. I'm using MS SQL 2008 currently.

• What stage of normalization is this? (moving repeating data into separate table)

  Hi There, I have noticed that when designing a database I tend to shift any repeating sets of data into a separate table. For example, say I had a table of people, with each person living in a state. I would then move these repeating states into a separate table and reference them with foreign keys. However, what if I was not storing any more data about states. I would then have a table with StateID and State in. Is this action correct? State is dependant on the primary key of the users table, so does shifting it into its own table help with anything? Thanks,

Is using .Include to include all the users, and going through the UsersReference the best way to loop through all the users that are associated with the role? I noticed I could not do a foreach(User user in role.Users) but UsersReference seem to work, but is that how it's supposed to be done?
