How can I read wireless signal strength In C++ and Java ?
Please provide a code snippet, a link to a library, or anything else that might show me how to accomplish this?
is there any faster way to parse a text than by walk each byte of the text?
I wonder if there is any special CPU (x86/x64) instruction for string operation that is used by string library, that somehow used to optimize the parsing routine.
for example instruction like finding a token in a string that could be run by hardware instead of looping each byte until a token is found.
I am from a windows background (VC++), and moved to Linux (Ubuntu) about a year ago.
I would like to be able to write simple make files to build the following types of binaries:
A shared library
An executable that links into third party libraries (static and shared libraries)
Create an install section in my makefile (which can then be used my checkinstall)
I would like to import my Last.fm library into Grooveshark programatically, to make transitioning to it a bit easier. However, I haven't been able to find any kind of API which would make this possible. Has anyone heard of one?
I just created a project so my Solution Explorer looks like this:
But I want to add another project which is related to this project but it's going to be a class library and it's going to output a DLL that I could use in any other project.
So how can I create a "solution" with multiple projects?
Hi
I have been trying to localize my iPhone app in two languages - english and german
I have created two folders en.lproj and de.lproj each containing Localizable.strings file for respective language. I have included these files in my resources folder, changed the encoding of these files to UTF-16.
I have tried cleaning the project and building it again, deleting folder at path: Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User
But the problem is still there. Anybody having an idea please help.
Hi,
This is about folder level permissions. We have a document library with break inheritance. While adding folders, sub folders through code, again we coded for break inheritance.
Now the requirement is, when a user/group is added to subfolder permission list, we need to track this event. Which sharepoint event do we use and on what level. Please help.
I have a rather simple C++ project, which uses boost::regex library. The output I'm getting is 3.5Mb in size. As I understand I'm statically linking all boost .CPP files, including all functions/methods. Maybe it's possible somehow to instruct my linker to use only necessary elements from boost, not all of them? Thanks.
Hello Guys!
I'm mapping a set of tables that share a common set of fields:
So as you can see I'm using a table-per-concrete-type strategy to map the inheritance.
But...
I have not could to relate them to an abstract type containing these common properties.
It's possible to do it using EF?
BONUS: The only non documented Entity Data Model Mapping Scenario is Table-per-concrete-type inheritance http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc716779.aspx : P
I have global static variables in a C library, which generate exceptions in a multithread run. I need to make them safe in some way (i.e. - each thread should relate to a different instance of these variables). Any recommended methods?

I was looking at using iText to create both a pdf and html version of a document with RTF as a possible option. According to this question this is no longer possible with iText. Is there a library that will allow me to create a document in Java and output it as both PDF and HTML? The ability to output RTF would be nice but is not required.
Hi,
I have recenlty stumbled into Zend Lucene port of Lucene project. I have a little bit experience with SOLR so I would like to know what is the difference between two of them especially from performance and installation side.
As much as I know SOLR requires Tomcat serverlet running in web hosting in order to work, what about Zend Lucene library?
I am also a bit confused what means "being implemented on the top of Lucene"?
How can I get(Is it possible?) all audio frequencies are now playing in the system for writing some sound visualizer? Is there any library c++ or c#?

Right now, if I want to run mysql, I have to do /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysql -u user -ppass... I'd be a happy camper if I could just do mysql -u user -ppass.... Been googling around, but haven't been able to find anything... Have a feeling I'm using dumb search terms, so if anyone here knows how to do this, that'd be awesome...
Reasoning: I'm trying to convert a large library from Scheme to Python
Are there any good strategies for doing this kind of conversion? Specifically cross-paradigm in this case since Python is more OO and Scheme is Functional.
Totally subjective so I'm making it community wiki
Is there a standard way to override settings from web.xml in a packaged war? I want to change filter settings for an existing library (eclipse birt) without repackaging the war.
I know how to show an alert when the user exits the browser and I know how to implement a neat modal dialog using the jQuery UI library. My problem is, I'd like to implement that dialog when the user attempts to close the browser rather than display the ugly little popup box. Is this do-able?

I'm on my way to programming a database application and in our course we are told to implement a library of elements using one of the Java Collections. Each of the elements has a unique ID with which it's supposed to be addressed. Now I am wondering how this can be done.
I though about using a ListArray but this won't work because the only way of addressing List elements is through the index which you can't control.
Do you have some advice for me?
Is there anything like this in the standard library? I've looked but haven't found it.
It needs to be like a list (preserves order) but also like a set (elements can only appear once).
So if you give it ['a', 'b', 'a'] it should return ['a', 'b']
Thanks!
Is there a hash function that returns a 16-digit hex value (as MD5 returns 32-digit), or is there a library (for C++) in which I can use MD5 or SHA-1 which returns a 16-digit value

can anyone give me the procedure for building a blogslib library containing code in vc++ 2008 edition? the official documentation gives it for vc++ 2006...

I'm doing a library that makes extensive use of a thread local variable.
Can you point to some benchmarks that test the performances of the different ways to get thread local variables in C++:
C++0x thread_local variables
compiler extension (Gcc __thread, ...)
boost::threads_specific_ptr
pthread
Windows
...
Does C++0x thread_local performs much better on the compilers providing it?
