I created two files 'hello.pl' and 'hello.cgi' with the code below. #!/usr/bin/perl print "Content-type:text/html\n\n"; print "hello world"; I can view the page via both http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/hello.pl and http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/hello.cgi. Which one is more sense in Perl web dev? BTW, the directory of 'cgi-bin' created by my VPS server, Do I need contact with my VPS support to remove it or just remain it like this URL style? Maybe http://www.mydomain.com/perDev/hello.cgi is better?

  • Optimizing a fluid grid layout

    I recently just added a grid layout, but I can't figure out how to make my links work. The grid that I used is the 1140 one at http://cssgrid.net/. I studied the source code of that website, and tried to make my page like theirs, but when I put everything in it made mine worse, and the grid didn't even work. This is how my website is supposed to look http://spencedesign.netau.net/singaporehome.html and this is how it does http://spencedesign.netau.net/home.html And when you reduce the size, it doesn't look like it's supposed to. When you minimize it I want the pictures(links) to be two per row, then one per row depending on how small the page is. I also want the quote to turn into different rows when it is too small for it. But I can't figure out how to make the page look normal regularly let alone make it look good with a smaller browser. Thanks!

I have been seeing lately some failures to authenticate and wonder if it is related to these errors? I have seen a possible timeout problem in the 2.2 Code base and not sure if theres a patch or if I would have to upgrade to the latest openldap version? thanks kosta

  • Servlet 3 spec and ThreadLocal

    As far as I know, Servlet 3 spec introduces asynchronous processing feature. Among other things, this will mean that the same thread can and will be reused for processing another, concurrent, HTTP request(s). This isn't revolutionary, at least for people who worked with NIO before. Anyway, this leads to another important thing: no ThreadLocal variables as a temporary storage for the request data. Because if the same thread suddenly becomes the carrier thread to a different HTTP request, request-local data will be exposed to another request. All of that is my pure speculation based on reading articles, I haven't got time to play with any Servlet 3 implementations (Tomcat 7, GlassFish 3.0.X, etc.). So, the questions: Am I correct to assume that ThreadLocal will cease to be a convenient hack to keep the request data? Has anybody played with any of Servlet 3 implementations and tried using ThreadLocals to prove the above? Apart from storing data inside HTTP Session, are there any other similar easy-to-reach hacks you could possibly advise?

So .. how can i do this with oAuth?

  • I can't change a value, for a web service using an axiom client!

    Hi.I just started learning about web serices. I succesfuly installed Tomcat, and deployed axis2 on it. I followed the tutorial from here http://ws.apache.org/axis2/1_1_1/quickstartguide.html . I made the StockQuoteService web service, moved the .aar file in the WEB-INF/services folder and tested it - it worked all fine. Then I made a client for the servce. I took the source code of the file AXIOMClient.java from the dir described here http://ws.apache.org/axis2/1_1_1/quickstartguide.html#clientaxiom , imported the classes in Eclipse Java IDE and runned it. I tested and the update method works from the browser when calling http://localhost:8080/axis2/services/StockQuoteService/update?symbol=WSO&price=144 But from my java client update method is not working at all, when calling getPrice I always receive 42.00. What am I doing wrong? or, how can I trace what is happening?

The tricky part is, that I only want the lastest "TimeStamp" where "State" was false. But now I also need the "State" for the lastest "TimeStamp". I tried this: SELECT p.ProductName, dt.State, dt.MaxTimeStamp, p.Responsible FROM Product p LEFT JOIN (SELECT ProductID, MAX(TimeStamp) AS MaxTimeStamp, State FROM StateLog WHERE State = 0 GROUP BY ProductID, Status) dt ON p.ProductID =dt.ProductID ORDER BY p.ProductName; But it didn't work, because it gave me the "State" for the lastest "TimeStamp". So I hope there is some clever heads out there that can help me. I'm guessing that this is either very simple or very hard to solve.

    Hello, I've asked this before but I was hoping for another answer and perhaps some code samples because I've been having a difficult time with this. I have an asp.net page. The user hits the "Run" button and I have code IN AN ASSEMBLY, not in the APP_CODE folder that is called and runs a long process that moves product info from a file into the database. While the user waits, I would like them to see status updates like what product the import process in on and status info. I'm assuming I'd break off into another thread and use Ajax but I have no idea how to do this. Some code samples would be very helpful, thanks.

  • Winforms StatusStrip - why are there periods where it is blank when I'm updating it???

    Hi, BACKGROUND: I have a WindowForms v3.5 application with a StatusStrip set to be used as a TooStripStatusLabel. I'm issues quite a lot of updates to it during a task that is running, however there are noticable periods where it is BLANK. There are no points when I am writing a blank to the status strip label either. QUESTION: Any ideas why I would be seeing period where the status strip label is blank, when I don't expect it to be?     I'm setting up a Squid forward proxy and I'm wondering if I could configure Squid in such a way that the connection from my web browser to squid is https regardless of whether the connection from squid to the destination website is http or https. In other words, I want my connection from my web browser to my forward proxy to be encrypted even though I'm just surfing normal http website through that proxy. Can it be done?

    I need to make my image fitting into my div, I want the picture to be only inside the div, the rest of the picture will be behind the other elements. Basically I want to achieve the same effect as here http://tommywebdesigner.com/Home%20Page.html but with the div id="background"and div id="content" i have created. As you can see first i gave margin-bottom="350px to the header in order to create a blank space, here i have the space for the img in my div id="background"which is located under (z-index: -1;) and the rest of the elements is placed over inside the the div id="content" (z-index:2;) I need now a Javascript which fit this image in the div id="background".   • How to get corresponding build artifacts of a job in jenkins ?

    I create Jenkins jobs using hudson.cli.CLI jar. I have selected "Archive the artifacts" option in the "Post-build steps" section. It archives the artifacts on each succesfull build. I am using jenkins remote access api http://localhost:8080/job/job_name/api/json to get details about jobs. and http://localhost:8080/job/job_name/job_number/api/json to get details about builds. When I delete a build corresponding archived artifacts are not deleted. I'd like to make sure that they are deleted. When I use jenkins remote access api http://localhost:8080/job/[job_name]/[job_number]/api/json for a build, it returns json data which contains all previously archived artifacts (other successful builds artifacts) with this (running build) build artifact. How do I get related artifact of a build (a successful build should return its artifact, not all previous successfull artifacts). Any suggestions or ideas ?

  • Rails 2 and Ngnix: https pages can't load css or js (but will load graphics)

    ADMISSION: i've posted this same question on stackoverflow, before realising it's probabaly better suited to superuser, but it kind of depends on the answer: If it turns out to be a problem in my nginx config, it's definitely superuser. If it turns out to be a problem in my Rails config (or code) then it's arguably stackoverflow. I'm adding some https pages to my rails site. In order to test it locally, i'm running my site under one mongrel_rails instance (on 3000) and nginx. I've managed to get my nginx config to the point where i can actually go to the https pages, and they load. Except, the javascript and css files all fail to load: looking in the Network tab in chrome web tools, i can see that it is trying to load them via an https url. Eg, one of the non-working file urls is https://cmw-local.co.uk/stylesheets/cmw-logged-out.css?1383759216 I have these set up (or at least think i do) in my nginx config to redirect to the http versions of the static files. This seems to be working for graphics, but not for css and js files. If i click on this in the Network tab, it takes me to the above url, which redirects to the http version. So, the redirect seems to be working in some sense, but not when they're loaded by an https page. Like i say, i thought i had this covered in the second try_files directive in my config below, but maybe not.   • Problem with Google AJAX Search API RESTful interface

    When I send the following query http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/search/local?v=1.0&q=coffee%20New%20York%20NY using c# WebClient.DownloadString function or ordinary web browser I get JSON data which is different from data for the same query using JavaScript and Google AJAX Search API. From REST service I get the following url field http://www.google.com/maps/place?source003duds0026q003dcoffee0026cid003d13245583795745066822 but from JavaScript query I get this url field http://www.google.com/maps/place?source=uds&q=coffee&cid=13245583795745066822 The problem with REST service answer is that the url it gives points to a web page with error message "We currently do not support the location". What am I doing wrong?

    I have some keywords in the header of my website. Every few second I want one of them to glow up with the CSS text-shadow property. However, JQuery animation doesn't seem to support the CSS text-shadow property very well. http://jsfiddle.net/VWBsU/: This is kind of the result that I want, but the glow has to fade in and out. http://jsfiddle.net/VWBsU/1/ With a more common CSS-property, like color, the animation works perfectly, the red color kind of fades in. http://jsfiddle.net/VWBsU/2/ But the CSS text-shadow property doesn't even appear when trying to animate it. Does anyone know how to fade in and fade out a text-shadow property?

  • Use alternative browser with Subversion URLs

    We have subversion setup with http access through apache at http ://svn.local/ This provides access through svn clients and the standard svn repository browser. We also have a separate repository browser installed at http ://svn-browser.local/ (fisheye in this case). Is it possible to change the subversion/apache server so that browser requests are redirected to the subversion browser, but requests from svn clients go to the subversion server? Essentially, I'd like to use a single URL to identify a resource in both svn clients and the svn browser and be able to copy the url from a svn client into a web browser to have the enhanced functionality provided by the browser.

    Hi, I have a Rest-Service exposed through spring-mvc. I have a particular method which is correctly mapped and called through a http-call. My spring application contains the hibernatetransactionmanager and transactions are configured through @Transactional-annotations. I annotated the method with @Transactional. @Transactional(readOnly = true) @Override @RequestMapping(value = "/start", method = RequestMethod.GET) @ResponseBody public List start(....) Whenever I call the http-method I get org.hibernate.LazyInitializationException from my org.springframework.http.converter.json.MappingJacksonHttpMessageConverter which is bound in my application context. Is the @Transactional annotation valid for the MessageConverter as well?
