  • How to do something firstly when the asp.net server start

    Hi all I need an interface that can be run firstly when the application start. We can write some code in Application_Start of global.ascx. Is there any other method to finish it after some configurations in web.config,i don't wanna write any code in global.ascx You know,we can implement the Interface 'IHttpModule' to diy each request. But the interface is not fix to application start. which one is i wanna? Thanks

    I cannot get the following route to fire when a url is requested from a script tag. I have the following route: // maps to "/cache/cachecontent/JavaScriptInclude/1/javascript" routes.MapRoute( null, "cache/{action}/{key}/{version}/{type}", new { controller = "Cache", action = "CacheContent", key = "", version = "", type = "" } ); I have a javascript script tag like: <script type="text/javascript" src="/cache/cachecontent/JavaScriptInclude/1/javascript" /> Yet the route is not firing and the controller is not instantiated. If i drop the url into the address bar of the browser all is fine, but is not triggered from the javascript tag? Any ideas?

    I need to ask a general question. I don't have the code in front of me because I'm writing this on my iPhone. I have a Class that represents a certain XML schema. I have a SPROC that returns this XML. What I need to do is deserialize the XML to this Class. XML: <xml> <person> <firstName>Bob</firstName> <lastName>Robby</lastName> </person> </xml> I need to deserialize this XML into the custom Person Class so I can loop through this Model and spit it out in the View. I'm sure there's some kind of casting involved, I just don't know how to do it.

    I want to build a page for end users to visit (in our MPLS Network) and it show the following information in regards to them: Computer Name OS Disk Space Memory IP Address Active Directory User Name Password Expiration Time (As defined by Global Policy) Maybe a few other things such as Trend Micro Office current version vs. their version, # of MS Updates needed (we utilize WSUS), and a few other things in the future. My question is how would I pull this information from the user when they visit the page? What is the proper function for this? Anyone have examples they wish to share for me to learn by if possible?

    I am running Plesk 9.5 on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and have about 15 websites infected with some malicious code appended to the end of java files. I have installed Clamav and it has managed to pickup the infected files which have a pattern of starting with either /*km0ae9gr6m*/ or /*gootkitstart*/ and ending with /*qhk6sa6g1c*/ or /*gootkitend*/ My Plesk panel is up to date and security patches were installed. How can I isolate the security vulnerability on the server?

  • Bitwise operators versus .NET abstractions for bit manipulation in C# prespective

    I'm trying to get basic skills in working with bits using C#.NET. I posted an example yesterday with a simple problem that needs bit manipulation which led me to the fact that there are two main approaches - using bitwise operators or using .NET abstractions such as BitArray (Please let me know if there are more build-in tools for working with bits other than BitArray in .NET and how to find more info for them if there are?). I understand that bitwise operators work faster but using BitArray is something much more easier for me, but one thing I really try to avoid is learning bad practices. Even though my personal preferences are for the .NET abstraction(s) I want to know which i actually better to learn and use in a real program. Thinking about it I'm tempted to think that .NET abstractions are not that bad at, after all there must be reason to be there and maybe being a beginner it's more natural to learn the abstraction and later on improve my skills with low level operations, but this is just random thoughts.

    Hi all, One of my functions in a class is called GetIpAddress() which returns the following string: System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["REMOTE_ADDR"] This all works well in regular page loads and gets my ip address, but when i for example let a user place a comment, then the ip address is lost after postback and i get an empty string returned.     All the examples of json I can find online only show how to submit json arrays w/ the jquery command $.ajax(). I'm submitting some data from a custom user control as a json array. I was wondering if it's possible to submit a json array as a regular post request to the server (like a normal form) so the browser renders the page returned. Controller: [JsonFilter(Param = "record", JsonDataType = typeof(TitleViewModel))] public ActionResult SaveTitle(TitleViewModel record) { // save the title. return RedirectToAction("Index", new { titleId = tid }); } Javascript: function SaveTitle() { var titledata = GetData(); $.ajax({ url: "/Listing/SaveTitle", type: "POST", data: titledata, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", }); } Which is called from a save button. Everything works fine but the browser stays on the page after submitting. I was thinking of returning some kind of custom xml from the server and do javascript redirect but it seems like a very hacky way of doing things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    We're currently in the process of re-creating a brand new security model that dwarfs our existing process. Right now, we plan on grabbing a user's roles during the login process and then using a Base Page class to check if the user has the role of the corresponding page the user is navigating to. We can limit the menu's options by the user's roles as well, but we have had problems with users navigating to pages in our system by typing them in or having old bookmarks. Obviously, we need some sort of page level access. A simple function in our Base Page class that checks the role in the Arraylist against the page's assigned role would work, but I was wondering if there was any built-in functionality to support this or a cleaner solution possibly.
