• Poorly performing regex

  I've a really poorly performing piece of regex, currently it makes Firefox, Chrome and IE hang for a period of time. Here's the reg-ex: ^([a-zA-Z0-9]+[/]?)+[a-zA-Z0-9]+$ It's kind of a url matcher, but should only match the requested path (not starting with or ending with a slash). Valid examples: Segment Segment/Segment segment/segment/Segment (etc) Invalid examples: /Segment Segment/ Segment/Segment/ Using the regex above over all three browsers and using two or more slashes causes the browsers to hang. It's obviously a poorly formed reg-ex, but can anyone help build a better one? Thanks,

In that case, what do I write in the txt file? I will include in the license agreement that we are distributing a modified version of the jar, but my question is about marking the jar itself.

• Using dispatchertimer in combination with an asynchroneous call

  Hi. We have an issue in our Silverlight application which uses WCF and Entity Framework, where we need to trap the event whenever a user shuts down the application by closing the web page or the browser instead of closing the silverlight application. This is in order to verify if any changes have been made, in which case we would ask the user if he wants to save before leaving. We were able to accomplish the part which consists in trapping the closing of the web page: we wrote some code in the application object that have the web page call a method in the silverlight application object. The problem starts when in this method, we do an asynchroneous call to the Web Service to verify if changes have occured (IsDirty). We are using a DispatcherTimer to check for the return of the asynchroneous call. The problem is that the asynchroneous call never completes (in debug mode, it never ends up stepping into the _BfrServ_Customer_IsDirtyCompleted method), while it used to work fine before we added this new functionality. You will find belowthe code we are using. I am new to writing timers in combination with asynchroneous call so I may be doing something wrong but I cannot figure out what. • Java HTML parser/validator

  We allow people to enter HTML code on our wiki-like site. But only a limited subset of HTML to not affect our styling and not allow malicious javascript code. Is there a good Java library on the server side to ensure that the code entered is valid? We tried creating an XML Schema document to validate against. The only issue there is the libraries we used to validate gave back cryptic error messages. What I want is for the validation library to actually fix the issue (if there was a style="" attribute added to an element, remove it). If fixing it is not easy, at least allow me to report a message to the user with the location of the error (an error code that I can present a nice message from is fine, probably even preferable).

• Setting width of UISegmentedControl after removing a segment

  I have a UISegmentedControl of width 280. In code, I need to remove the third segment, set the UISegmentedControl's width to 200 and then re-centralise. By configuring the springs and struts in IB, I have set the segmented control up such that when I set the width directly it will automatically re-centre. However, when setting the width in code, is it true I need to set it via -setFrame? If this is the case, then I also need to set its X origin, which renders my auto-centralising redundant. My code: [segmentedControl removeSegmentAtIndex:2 animated:NO]; [segmentedControl setFrame:CGRectMake(segmentedControl.frame.origin.x + ((segmentedControl.frame.size.width - TWO_SEGMENT_SEGMENTED_CONTROL_WIDTH) / 2), segmentedControl.frame.origin.y, TWO_SEGMENT_SEGMENTED_CONTROL_WIDTH, segmentedControl.frame.size.height)]; This works, but seems hugely overblown for my purposes. Can anyone see what the problem may be?

• Javascript execution order

  I want to give a static javascript block of code to a html template designer, which can be: either inline or external or both used once or more in the html template and each block can determine its position in the template relative to the other javascript code blocks. An example could be image banners served using javascript. I give code to template designer who places it in two places, once for a horizontal banner in the header and once for a vertical banner. The same code runs in both blocks but knowing their positions can determine if to serve a horizontal or a vertical image banner. Make sense?

  I have few Question for which I am not able to get a proper answer . 1) Why should we call SuppressFinalize in the Dispose function when we dont have a destructor . 2) Dispose and finalize are used for freeing resources before the object is garbage collected. Whether it is managed or unmanaged resource we need to free it , then why we need a condition inside the dispose funtion , saying pass 'true' when we call this overriden function from IDisposable:Dispose and pass false when called from a finalize.   I want to be able to provide a button to my users to just print a particular portion of my dojo/dijit application. There seems to be a general lack of documentation and examples when it comes to printing. For example, I have a specific dijit.layout.ContentPane that contains the content that I would like to print, but I wouldn't want to print the rest of the document. I have seen some pure JavaScript examples on the web where the node.innerHTML is read into a "hidden" iframe and then printed from there. I suspect that would work, but I was wondering if there was a more dojo centric approach to printing. Any thoughts?

• "Symbol not found" error for UIPopoverController in an iPhone/iPad Universal App

  In a universal binary iPhone/iPad app of mine, users are able to adjust preferences in a view controller that's presented modally. On the iPhone, the settings panel is presented with presentModalViewController:animated:, and on the iPad, I use a UIPopoverController. I'm having a heck of a time completely isolating the UIPopoverController code away from the iPhone code. Everytime I compile for the iPhone, I get the following error: dyld: Symbol not found: _OBJC_CLASS_$_UIPopoverController Referenced from: /var/mobile/Applications/CBB37F87-AA6D-47E2-823A-E259E3268A32/MyApp debug.app/MyApp Expected in: /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/UIKit This is of course because UIKit on the iPhone doesn't have a UIPopoverController class. Does anybody have advice for how to effectively isolate the iPad API includes from the iPhone code, so I can actually run my code?

• Is there such a thing as an "elisp bundle" for TextMate?

  I started using Code Collector Pro to organise and save my Emacs codes, and this software requires TextMate bundles for syntax highlighting. They have a lisp bundle, but not an elisp bundle, at least not that I can see. I would think that the syntax highlighting would work under the lisp bundle, but for some reason it isn't happening. I have never even seen any lisp code with syntax highlighting, so it is possible that the thing is working and I don't know, but I honestly don't think so, because the ;; before a line seems to me to be a comment thing, so anything after that should be in the color defined for comments which in my case is green. Here is a picture of my code collector screen with a piece of code written by huaiyuan answering my question posted here: Is this looking as it should or is there something wrong? Back to the initial question: is there a textmate bundle for elisp or a bundle like the ones from textmate I can download to get syntax highlighting?

• importing pywiiuse to test out

  This is probably a simple problem. But I downloaded the pywiiuse library from here and I also downloaded the examples. However when I try to run one of the examples I end up with import issues. I'm not certain I have everything configured properly to run. • Flowcharting tool/add-in for Visual Studio

  A 2 part question: Are flow-charts, as tool to analyze source-code, no longer considered useful? The reason I ask this question is that if you Google for source-code to flowchart tools for Visual Studio, there are no relevant results. Also, Microsoft does not seem to have a tool for this purpose. Are people just not using flowcharts that much any more? (I find them to be a great way to document complex logic in my code). Are there any VS tools that can take .Net (C#, VB.Net) code and convert it to a flowchart? (The only tool that I found is Aviosto's Visustin, which does not provide VS integration). Any other tools that you can recommend for this purpose?

• Data Binding to an object in C#

  Objective-c/cocoa offers a form of binding where a control's properties (ie text in a textbox) can be bound to the property of an object. I am trying to duplicate this functionality in C# w/ .Net 3.5. I have created the following very simple class in the file MyClass.cs: class MyClass { private string myName; public string MyName { get { return myName; } set { myName = value; } } public MyClass() { myName = "Allen"; } } I also created a simple form with 1 textbox and 1 button. I init'd one instance of Myclass inside the form code and built the project. Using the DataSource Wizard in Vs2008, i selected to create a data source based on object, and selected the MyClass assembly. This created a datasource entity. I changed the databinding of the textbox to this datasource; however, the expected result (that the textbox's contents would be "allen") was not achieved. Further, putting text into the textbox is not updating the name property of the object. I know i'm missing something fundamental here. At some point i should have to tie my instance of the MyClass class that i initialized inside the form code to the textbox, but that hasn't occurred. Everything i've looked at online seems to gloss over using DataBinding with an object (or i'm missing the mark entirely), so any help is great appreciated. ----Edit--- Utilizing what i learned by the answers, i looked at the code generated by Visual Studio, it had the following: this.myClassBindingSource.DataSource = typeof(BindingTest.MyClass); if i comment that out and substitute : this.myClassBindingSource.DataSource = new MyClass(); i get the expected behavior. Why is the default code generated by VS like it is? Assuming this is more correct than the method that works, how should i modify my code to work within the bounds of what VS generated?

• How to only round selected corners in a fancytitle box with Tikz

  If you take a look at http://www.texample.net/tikz/examples/boxes-with-text-and-math/ the boxes there are with rounded corners. In the examples, both the box itself and the title is a box. I want the title box to not have the bottom corners rounded. On page 120 in the manual, there is a description of how to draw with and without rounded corners. However, I want to use this in a fancytitle. • Is this fix to "PostSharp complains about CA1800:DoNotCastUnnecessarily" the best one?

  This question is about "is" and "as" in casting and about CA1800 PostSharp rule. I want to know if the solution I thought is the best one possible or if it have any problem that I can't see. I have this code (named OriginaL Code and reduced to the minimum relevant). The function ValidateSubscriptionLicenceProducts try to validate a SubscriptionLicence (that could be of 3 types: Standard,Credit and TimeLimited ) by casting it and checking later some stuff (in //Do Whatever). PostSharp complains about CA1800:DoNotCastUnnecessarily. The reason is that I am casting two times the same object to the same type. This code in best case will cast 2 times (if it is a StandardLicence) and in worst case 4 times (If it is a TimeLimited Licence). • Sporadic EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) when in 64 bit mode

  For some reason for a low-number of users (say 1 in a few hundred) the application seem to crash when run in 64bit mode on a Snow Leopard 10.6.3 I've attached the code, but please remind IT IS NOT A CODE issue. The crashed seem to be random in com.apple.AppKit at random locations and random moments. Anyone else had any experiences? Any suggestions other then running the application in 32 bit only? Please do not dilute the feedback by asking for or blaming the code, the code is 100% solid, guaranteed! No memory leaks, the crashes clearly are triggered in 32 bit mode only just after start inside the AppKit itself like deep inside NSThread sleep's callstack.

  I have four tables: Users PrivilegeGroups rdPrivileges LinkPrivilege ----------- ---------------- --------------- --------------- userId(pk) privilegeGroupId(pk) privilegeId(pk) privilegeId(pk, fk) privilegeGroupId(fk) name code privilegeGroupId(pk, fk) L2E will not create LinkPrivilege entity for me. So we only have Users, PrivilegeGroups and rdPrivileges entities. PrivilegeGroups and rdPrivileges are many to many relationship. What I need to do is retrieve all code from rdPrivileges table based on a passed in userId. How can I do it?
