  • jQuery Tools - Range Input with Mousewheel support

    - by pspahn
    I've got a nice looking horizontal scroller that uses the Range Input feature of jQ Tools. Mouse wheel scrolling support would be awesome, and I'm sure it can work, just not sure how to get it set up. I've got the generic setup: var scroll = jQuery('#scroll'); jQuery(':range').rangeinput({ speed: 0, progress: true, onSlide: function(ev, step) { scroll.css({left: -step}); }, change: function(e, i) { scroll.animate({left: -i}, "fast"); } }); The doc page ( http://jquerytools.org/documentation/toolbox/mousewheel.html ) for mousewheel gives an example: $("#myelement").mousewheel(function(event, delta) { }); But I'm not sure how this hooks in. Other tools in the package simply allow the option: mousewheel: true Unfortunately that doesn't work on range input. Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

  • Does urllib2.urlopen() actually fetch the page?

    - by beagleguy
    hi all, I was condering when I use urllib2.urlopen() does it just to header reads or does it actually bring back the entire webpage? IE does the HTML page actually get fetch on the urlopen call or the read() call? handle = urllib2.urlopen(url) html = handle.read() The reason I ask is for this workflow... I have a list of urls (some of them with short url services) I only want to read the webpage if I haven't seen that url before I need to call urlopen() and use geturl() to get the final page that link goes to (after the 302 redirects) so I know if I've crawled it yet or not. I don't want to incur the overhead of having to grab the html if I've already parsed that page. thanks!

  • How can I type cast EventArgs to have a .point property in c#? [closed]

    - by Sean Smyth
    I'm working with a double click function in c#. the function takes an object and EventArgs as it's parameters: private void gvHL7_DoubleClick(object sender, EventArgs e){ . . . } However, I want to use the .Point property, and EventArgs doesn't have that property. I know that DevExpress.XtraGrid.Views.Grid.GridMenuEventArgs does, but it's saying that's an invalid casting. What type should I cast my EventArgs instance to if I wish to access the .Point property? Edit: The double click function I'm working with is provided by devexpress for their grids.

  • Using textbox text in javascript

    - by Jambo
    I am working with Twitter widgets with the following script- <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> <input type="button" value="Run Function" onclick="test();" /> <script> function test() { new TWTR.Widget({ version: 3, type: 'profile', rpp: 8, interval: 30000, width: 315, height: 340, theme: { shell: { background: '#333333', color: '#ffffff' }, tweets: { background: '#000000', color: '#ffffff', links: '#4aed05' } }, features: { scrollbar: false, loop: false, live: false, behavior: 'all' } }).render().setUser(document.getElementById('TextBox1').value).start(); } When using the function test(); in the button click it is ocming up with the error - Error: Unable to get value of the property 'value': object is null or undefined So it seems like it is not getting to the value at - (document.getElementById('TextBox1').value) I am not sure why it is null if the text box has a value and then the script is run on the button click?

  • running requestAnimationFrame from within a new object

    - by JVE999
    I'm having trouble running an animation. This is inside var ob1 = function() {};. When called, it runs for a while and then I get the error Uncaught RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded. However, this same structure has no problems running outside of the object. /////////////// Render the scene /////////////// this.render = function (){ renderer.render(scene,camera); if(isControls == true) controls.update(clock.getDelta()); this.animate(); //console.log(true); requestAnimationFrame(this.render()); } /////////////// Update objects /////////////// this.animate = function (){ console.log("!"); }

  • jQuery featured content slider

    - by azz0r
    Hello, I have a content area that loops through divs and shows there content. I'm having trouble making it display the initial content, unfortunately it waits 5000 milliseconds before triggering the very first content area to display. Anyone spot an easy way to make it display the initial area, then slide to the next area and do them at 5000 milliseconds. JS Model.FeatureBar = { current:0, items:{}, init: function init(options){ var me = this; me.triggers = [] me.slides = [] this.container = jQuery('#features'); jQuery('.feature').each(function(i){ me.triggers[i] = {url: jQuery(this).children('.feature-title a').href, title: jQuery(this).children('.feature-title'),description:jQuery(this).children('.feature-description')} me.slides[i] = {image: jQuery(this).children('.feature-image')} }); for(var i in this.slides){ this.slides[i].image.hide(); this.triggers[i].description.hide(); } setInterval(function(){Model.FeatureBar.next()},5000); }, next: function next(){ var i = (this.current+1 < this.triggers.length) ? this.current+1 : 0; this.goToItem(i); }, previous: function previous(){ var i = (this.current-1 > 1) ? this.current-1 : this.triggers.length; this.goToItem(i); }, goToItem: function goToItem(i){ if(!this.slides[i]) throw 'Slide out of range'; this.triggers[this.current].description.slideUp(); this.triggers[i].description.slideDown(); this.slides[this.current].image.hide(); this.slides[i].image.show(); this.current = i; }, } html <div id="features"> <div class="feature current"> <div class="movie-cover"> <a href="/police/movie"><img title="" alt="" src="/design/images/four-oh-four.png"></a> </div> <div class="feature-image" style="display: none;"> <img src="/design/images/four-oh-four.png"> </div> <h2 class="feature-title"><a href="/police/movie">Police</a></h2> <p class="feature-description" style="overflow: hidden; display: block; height: 50.8604px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px;">DESCRIPTION</p> </div> <div class="feature"> <div class="movie-cover"> <a href="/rude/movie"><img title="" alt="" src="/design/images/four-oh-four.png"></a> </div> <div class="feature-image" style="display: none;"> <img src="/design/images/four-oh-four.png"> </div> <h2 class="feature-title"><a href="/rude/movie">Rude</a></h2> <p class="feature-description" style="overflow: hidden; display: block; height: 18.3475px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px;">DESCRIPTION</p> </div> <div class="feature"> <div class="movie-cover"> <a href="/brits/movie"><img title="" alt="" src="/design/images/four-oh-four.png"></a> </div> <div class="feature-image" style="display: block;"> <img src="/design/images/four-oh-four.png"> </div> <h2 class="feature-title"><a href="/brits/movie">Brits</a></h2> <p class="feature-description" style="overflow: hidden; display: block; height: 40.1549px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px;">DESCRIPTION</p> </div> <div class="feature"> <div class="movie-cover"> <a href="/indie/movie"><img title="" alt="" src="/design/images/four-oh-four.png"></a> </div> <div class="feature-image" style="display: none;"> <img src="/design/images/four-oh-four.png"> </div> <h2 class="feature-title"><a href="/indie/movie">Indie</a></h2> <p class="feature-description" style="overflow: hidden; display: block; height: 42.4247px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px;">DESCRIPTION</p> </div>

  • How to automatically run in the background?

    - by Hun1Ahpu
    I'm not sure that it's not implemented yet, I hope that it is. But I know that in .Net programmers should manually run time-consuming task in the background thread. So every time we handle some UI event and we understand that this will take some time we also understand that this will hang UI thread and our application. And then we make all this Background work things and handle callbacks or whatever. So my question is: Is there in some language/platform a mechanism that will automatically run time-consuming tasks in the background and will do all related work itself? So we just write the code for handling specific UI event and this code will be somehow detected as time-consuming and will be executed in background. And if there isn't, then why?

  • Why aren't operator conversions implicitly called for templated functions? (C++)

    - by John Gordon
    I have the following code: template <class T> struct pointer { operator pointer<const T>() const; }; void f(pointer<const float>); template <typename U> void tf(pointer<const float>); void g() { pointer<float> ptr; f(ptr); tf(ptr); } When I compile the code with gcc 4.3.3 I get a message (aaa.cc:17: error: no matching function for call to ‘tf(pointer<float>&)’) indicating that the compiler called 'operator pointer<const T>' for the non-templated function f(), but didn't for the templated function tf(). Why and is there any workaround short of overloading tf() with a const and non-const version? Thanks in advance for any help.

  • How can I use BeanUtils copyProperties to copy from boolean to Boolean?

    - by carrier
    BeanUtils copyProperties, out of the box, doesn't seem to handle copying from Boolean object properties to boolean primitive properties. I figured I could create and register a converter to handle this, but that just didn't seem to work. So, how can I use BeanUtils to copy the properties from class Source to class Destination where: public class Destination { private boolean property; public boolean isProperty() { return property; } public void setProperty(boolean property) { this.property = property; } } public class Source{ private Boolean property; public Boolean getProperty() { return property; } public void setProperty(Boolean property) { this.property = property; } }

  • Mixing Matplotlib patches with polar plot?

    - by Roger
    I'm trying to plot some data in polar coordinates, but I don't want the standard ticks, labels, axes, etc. that you get with the Matplotlib polar() function. All I want is the raw plot and nothing else, as I'm handling everything with manually drawn patches and lines. Here are the options I've considered: 1) Drawing the data with polar(), hiding the superfluous stuff (with ax.axes.get_xaxis().set_visible(False), etc.) and then drawing my own axes (with Line2D, Circle, etc.). The problem is when I call polar() and subsequently add a Circle patch, it's drawn in polar coordinates and ends up looking like an infinity symbol. Also zooming doesn't seem to work with the polar() function. 2) Skip the polar() function and somehow make my own polar plot manually using Line2D. The problem is I don't know how to make Line2D draw in polar coordinates and haven't figured out how to use a transform to do that. Any idea how I should proceed?

  • Is it possible to capture a "file not found" from another process and then return a file to that pro

    - by Neil N
    I have a legacy application that looks for files in a directory. It does not handle missing files very well. What I want to do is "capture" the file not found errors, and send another file back to the calling app instead. Similar to how you could handle a 404 error on a webserver and return something based on what the requested URL was, except on the local file system. Is this possible? And more preferably, is it possible in .Net?

  • How to store and access ajax data in javascript without using global variables ?

    - by mike_t2e
    I may be missing something obvious here, but how could I rewrite this code so that it doesn't need the theVariable to be a global variable ? <script language="javascript"> theVariable = ""; function setValue() /* called on page load */ { /* make ajax call to the server here */ theVariable = "a string of json data waiting to be eval()'d"; } function getValue() { alert(theVariable); } </script> <input type="button" onClick="javascript:getValue()" value="Get the value"> In my actual situation, the setValue function makes an ajax call to the server, receives a json string and the data from that is accessed when you mouseover various parts of the page. I end up using several global variables which works fine, but is messy and I'd like to know if there's a better and more elegant way of doing it ?

  • django + xmppy: send a message to two recipients

    - by Agrajag
    I'm trying to use xmpppy for sending jabber-messages from a django-website. This works entirely fine. However, the message only gets sent to the -first- of the recipients in the list. This happens when I run the following function from django, and also if I run it from an interactive python-shell. The weird part though, is that if I extract the -body- of the function and run that interactively, then all the recipients (there's just 2 at the moment) get the message. Also, I do know that the inner for-loop gets run the correct count times (2), because the print-statement does run twice, and return two different message-ids. The function looks like this: def hello_jabber(request, text): jid=xmpp.protocol.JID(settings.JABBER_ID) cl=xmpp.Client(jid.getDomain(),debug=[]) con=cl.connect() auth=cl.auth(jid.getNode(),settings.JABBER_PW,resource=jid.getResource()) for friend in settings.JABBER_FRIENDS: id=cl.send(xmpp.protocol.Message(friend,friend + ' is awesome:' + text)) print 'sent message with id ' + str(id) cl.disconnect() return render_to_response('jabber/sent.htm', locals())

  • What is the best way in Silerlight to make areas of a large graphic clickable?

    - by Edward Tanguay
    In a Silverlight application I have large images which have flow charts on them. I need to handle the clicks on specific hotspots of the image where the flow chart boxes are. Since the flow charts will always be different, the information of where the hotspots has to be dynamic, e.g. in a list of coordinates. I've found article like this one but don't need the detail of e.g. the outline of countries but just simple rectangle and circle areas. I've also found articles where they talk about overlaying an HTML image map over the silverlight application, but it has to be easier than this. What is the best way to handle clicks on specific areas of an image in silverlight?

  • why do i lose my hidden field value?

    - by user517406
    Hi, I have some hidden fields on my page, all of which work fine apart from one. I am setting the value in document.ready, before calling buildGrid() : $(document).ready(function() { $.ajax( { type: "POST", url: "/CDServices.asmx/GetWeekEndingDates", data: "{}", dataType: "json", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", success: function(msg) { //store default dates in hidden fields $("#<%=hdnCurrentDate.ClientID%>").val(msg.d.CurrentDate); $("#<%=hdnLastWeekEndingDate.ClientID%>").val(msg.d.LastWeekEndingDate); } }); buildGrid(); }); Yet in buildGrid, the value in the hidden field is empty : function buildGrid() { alert($("#<%=hdnLastWeekEndingDate.ClientID%>").val()); I call other functions on button clicks where the hidden field value is picked up fine, why does the value disappear here?

  • Javascript global variable not working properly?

    - by Fabian
    My jQuery code: $(document).ready(function() { chrome.extension.sendRequest({get: "height"}, function(response) { height = response.value; }); $("#id").css("height", height+"px"); }); You don't have to be concerned about the chrome.extension.sendRequest(), basically it communicates with a background page to fetch the value for "height" from localStorage and stores the value in global variable height. The problem lies in $("#id") not being assigned the height value. However if I were to modify it such that it is now: $(document).click(function() { $("#id").css("height", height+"px"); }); it works. Any idea why?

  • adding numeric values of variable number of forms

    - by user306472
    I'm trying to use jquery to loop through a block of forms that contain numeric data and add it all up to be displayed in a form with id grand. I have the ability to dynamically add new forms, so the number of forms I'm looping through will change. Here's my jquery code I wrote that isn't working for whatever reason: $('#table').delegate('input#grand', 'focus', function(){ var grand = $(input.expend).map(function(){ return this.value; }); $(grand).each(function(){ var g = 0; g+= $(this); $('input#grand').val(g); }); });

  • Is there a better way to serially submit multiple AJAX requests?

    - by friedo
    I have a page with multiple forms that I submit via Ajax POSTs serially. At first, I tried using synchronous XHR requests, but this causes the browser to lock up for the duration of the request, and breaks my DOM-manipulation effects, which is unacceptable. So the pattern I ended up using is basically this: var fcount = 0; // incremented for each form to be submitted function submit_form( num ) { var fdata = { ... }; // data from form # num $.ajax( { async: true, url: '/index.cgi', data: fdata, type: 'POST', success: function() { if ( num < fcount ) { submit_form( ++num ); } } } ); } $( '#submit_form_btn' ).click( function() { submit_form( 1 ) } ); The recursion strikes me as a bit of an ugly solution to what is essentially an iterative problem. Is there a cleaner or more elegant way that this could be handled?

  • alternatives to eval for running remote code.

    - by Raynos
    Are there any alternatives to using eval to immediatly run remote & trusted javascript code. function load(filePath) { var o = $.ajax({ url: filePath, dataType: 'html', async: false }); eval(o.responseText); } load("somePath"); // run a function that relies on the code from o.responseText being loaded doSomethingWithCode(); I'm aware that synchronous loading of javascript is adviced againts. But if there is no choice are there any cross browser alternatives for the use of eval above. [Edit] To clarify in more detail the code being loaded is a self executing function. Which needs to execute before doSomethingWidthCode. It's also being loaded from the server on the same domain hence its trusted.

  • Perl passing argument into eval

    - by ehretf
    I'm facing an issue using eval function. Indeed I have some function name inside a SQL database, my goal is to execute those functions within perl (after retrieve in SQL). Here is what I'm doing, considering that $RssSource-{$k}{Proceed} contains "&test" as a string retrieved from SQL: my $str2 = "ABCD"; eval "$RssSource->{$k}{Proceed}";warn if $@; sub test { my $arg = shift; print "fct TEST -> ", $row, "\n"; } This is working correctly and display: fct TEST -> However I would like to be able to pass $str2 as an argument to $RssSource-{$k}{Proceed} but I don't know how, every syntax I tried return an error: eval "$RssSource->{$k}{Proceed}$str2" eval "$RssSource->{$k}{Proceed}($str2)" eval "$RssSource->{$k}{Proceed}"$str2 eval "$RssSource->{$k}{Proceed}"($str2) May someone tell me how to properly pass an argument to the evaluated function? Thanks a lot for your help Regards. Florent

  • Can't get Angular Dart Router to work

    - by JesterXL
    I've tried this syntax in AngularDart 0.11.0: Angular Dart passing data from route service into a controller module.value(RouteInitializerFn, configureRoutes); void configureRoutes(Router router, RouteViewFactory views) { print("configureRoutes"); views.configure({ 'login': ngRoute( path: '/login', view: 'login/login.tpl.html'), 'today': ngRoute( path: '/today', view: '/today/today.tpl.html') }); However, my routing function never seems to get called. I've used both a print statement and breakpoint to no avail. When I attempt to call it like so: WorkoutLoggerApplication(this.rootScope, this.router) { print("WorkoutLoggerApplication::constructor"); new Future.delayed(new Duration(seconds: 2), () { router.go("login", {}); }); } I get: Bad state: Invalid route name: login I've tried 0.10.0, but no dice. I've also tried 3 varieties of the new bind function format, both also don't seem to ever fire the routing function.

  • Has NSXMLParser become more strict in iPhone SDK 3.x?

    - by D Carney
    I recently migrated an iPhone project from the 2.2.1 SDK to 3.1.x and, to my surprise, an XML feed that was (and still is with the published app) being parsed by the 2.2.1 NSXMLParser is now causing NSXMLParser to return errors. The XML document in question doesn't meet the W3C standard, but the 2.2.1 parser is able to handle this. I'm curious if anyone knows what changed and, more importantly, if there's a way to "relax" the 3.1.x parser. I don't have much control over the XML document, unfortunately, so I might have to get creative if I can't rely on the NSXMLParser to handle things as it did before.
