    I currently use phpMyAdmin 3.2.4 to monitor and manage the membership numbers for my organization members website. Not to long ago the member numbers jumped from 750 to 1,000,000 just over night? I am not sure how to fix this. I am new at this and I am not that famaliar of how this all works. This working with MySQL database. Also where so I fined on line manuals for phpMyAdmin and MySql?   • How to bypass firewall to connect to a proxy server?

    I am conducting a small experiment on my office network. I have setup a proxy server on my desktop machine (connected to my LAN) and I have volunteers access the internet via my proxy server. Everything is working well. The problem is people cannot connect to the proxy server through their laptops. I asked my network admin and he said the wireless network has a firewall which prevents users from connecting to my proxy. He said I could tunnel the traffic or use SSH though. I am afraid I do not understand fully what is going on. Is there a way by which users connected on the wireless network can connect to my desktop? I am using FreeProxy on Windows as my proxy server: http://www.handcraftedsoftware.org/index.php?page=download FreeProxy allows me to create a SOCKS 4/4a/5 proxy. Is that what I need? Part of the experiment involves logging the URL requests of the users. I am doing a measurement study. So, any solution must allow me to log the URL requests of users. Also, what changes do I need to make in the browser configuration.

  • Apache memory leak with Subversion server

    Does anyone know of a way to fix the Apache memory leak in relation to Subversion Server? We have a windows server 2003 machine running Apache to host Subversion. From day one, we have had memory leak issues and have not found a solution yet. All we do is monitor our server when when the memory use reaches near the max it can handle we have to restart Apache.

  • How to prevent nginx from locking files on mounted samba partition in Centos 6

    I'm using nginx 1.3.8 inside a centos 6.3 virtualbox 4.2.4 virtual machine. The system is running the latest software available via yum update. The host OS is windows 7. The site files nginx is serving are on mounted samba partition, which is a folder on the host Windows system. I.e., inside linux, nginx paths are referring to /home/vhosts and this is mounted from D:\vhosts\ on windows. The samba partition is mounted as root with 777 privileges. /etc/fstab looks like this, but with real ip, username, password: //hostip/vhosts /home/vhosts cifs username=username,password=SECRETPASSWORD,uid=root,gid=root,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,rw,_netdev 0 0 I.e. linux/nginx reads from the windows share, and not the opposite. in /etc/samba/smb.conf, I have tried to disable all samba locking features, but it seems to have no effect even after rebooting the virtual machine. locking=no share modes=no oplocks = no level2 oplocks = no kernel oplocks =no I'm receiving "Access is denied" errors in Windows or linux when attempting to overwrite the javascript file in windows that has been accessed at least once with nginx. If I run "service nginx reload", the lock is removed and I'm able to save the file. That's why I think it is nginx causing the lock. The same problem occurs with directories. However, that may be a different issue not related to the use of samba. I'm using samba so that I can manage the source code outside of the virtual machine. Also note that after I run "service nginx reload", the file I'm editing is actually automatically deleted from the windows host. SOLVED: I just reviewed my nginx.conf file. It appears the "open_file_cache" feature is what is causing the lock and deleted files. When I set this option to open_file_cache off;, My problem is resolved. I will repost as the answer when it allows me to do so.

    Hi! Recently I have deployed some HP server with SSD's behind a SmartArray P410 controller. While not official supported from HP the server work well sofar. Now I like to get wear level info's, error statistics etc from the drive. While the SA P410 supports a passthru of the SMART Command to a single drive in the array the output I was not able to the the interesting things from the drive.   • How to force a host to not send a broadcast for an IP address in its own subnet?

    For a LAN, instead of a switch, I have built a topology where each machine is connected to a router. Each host is assigned an IP address from 10/8. Here are the interface details: Lets say I ping 10.16.0.3 from this host. The routing table of 10.16.0.2 has been configured to use the router (10.16.0.1) as the default gateway. But since the destination IP address (10.16.0.3) is in the same subnet it sends out an ARP broadcast. I want to disable this behavior of sending an ARP broadcast and instead force it to use the routing table. How do I accomplish this?

  • Why did Google remove the search box in developer tool from Chrome 22 stable release?

    In previous version of Chrome, there's the search box in developer tool, on the right top when I open it, just as shown below. (Sorry I can't upload image cuz' I don't have enough reputation for now.) http://i.minus.com/iklSx2vi0uzFB.JPG But, after I upgraded to the first release of Chrome 22 yesterday, that search box was gone, as shown below. http://i.minus.com/ibxXt9wnBekR7E.JPG It is such a useful search box that I rely on all the time, to search for something, or to validate an xpath. So does Google just 'hide' it somewhere else? Or do they really remove it? Anyone know why they made such changes?

  • Disabling the command enter shortcut on Mac Entourage.

    It seems like disabling a shortcut should not be such a big deal, but I cannot seem to be able to do it for any shortcuts and specifically not for the combination that I keep hitting by mistake, every single day. The smaller space bar makes it very easy to hit the command key by mistake, and the return is a commonly used key when typing. I keep sending important e-mails before I am done typing, or worse, before I am done editing. I do not necessarily want to disable all the shortcuts, but that one for sure. The choices for changing anything in Entourage seem very limited. [Entourage for Mac 2008. Version 12.2.8. (101117) ESD] It is easy enough just to hit "send." This short cut causes a lot more trouble than it saves. Help.

  • UW-IMAP server, high load for one user

    We have been experiencing a very strange anomaly, with one specific user with our UW-IMAP server. We have about 75 users using the server, and one particular user, who is in about the middle as far as used storage keeps having issues with slow speed. Most of our users all use Thunderbird 2, or Thunderbird 3. Mostly 2, because of the performance issues we have had with 3. This user was on 3, and I downgraded him to 2. The performance has gotten better, but according to the imapd processes on the server, his username is using the most CPU % and CPU time. I've already done all the usual T/S'ing: Started profile from scratch, compacted folders, re-indexed, newer faster computer, etc.. Still, this users' imapd process is always using the most CPU on the server. For troubleshooting, we setup another user which has more usage, folders, etc.. than he does, but we don't see the users process taking up most of the CPU with the imapd process. So, it almost sounds like a particular email may be the culprit, but how can we find it, if thats the problem? This has been going on for a while, and he is a management person, so his patience is about to end. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • How can I create a macro that acts on a relative reference rather than an absolute reference to cell A1?

    I have a master rent statement in an Excel 2007 (macro enabled) spreadsheet that shows all tenants in rows with columns formed by the months. Each tenant then has a separate rent statement sheet like the one below that pulls the data through from the master rent statement and all I do then is to copy the last 4 columns to the right and add them to the right, just renaming the month labelled as ‘rent due’ with the current month and then hiding the previous last 4 columns to the left so that the statement always shows the previous month's activity and the amount due for the current month: I used a macro to speed up the creation of these statements, but then found that in some cases the result was wrong and needed major correction because the macro use absolute references i.e. its starting position was relative to cell A1 whereas some of my rent worksheets commence from a different column and in some cases from a different column and a different row. I have tried recording the macro with 'Use relative references' but when trying to use the macro it only gets part way through its operation before it stops and the message appears: Run time error '1004' Application defined or object defined error with the option to End or Debug or go to Help and then I'm stuck as I don't know how to debug and work in VBA or understand what has gone wrong. I want to record a single macro that always remains relative to the last 'Total Due' column heading (in the sample, it’s cell FF3 but on another worksheet could be cell GA26) and thus enables me regardless of where on the worksheet the rent statement is placed to add through my recorded macro a further four columns with updated dates and a repositioned 'Total Due' summary (in the sample in cells FE23 and FF23). The contents of cells FE23 and FE22 are always the same number of rows from the 'Sample Rent Statement, Service Charge and Sub Total' rows. I've searched on the web and in the help files of Excel 2007 but have been totally stumped by this, so currently I have to re-record a quantity of macros each month to cover all of the permutations of the worksheets in my Excel rent workbook, which is starting to become pointless in terms of saving time. Does someone know a solution to this problem please?!

  • Is it possible to use the same MAC address for an entire subnet?

    I wish to add static entries to the ARP table of my machine so that it uses a dummy MAC 00:11:22:33:44:55 for any IP address within the subnet 10.0.0.0/8 Using arp -s 10.0.0.0/8 00:11:22:33:44:55 does not work. What can I do? PS - I know it might sound strange why anyone would want to do this but kindly bear with me here. EDIT: I am using this so that the hosts do not send a broadcast ARP message. I route the packets to the appropriate last hop router which changes the dst MAC from the fake MAC to the MAC of the dst IP address. I can get everything working except I have to manually enter the fake MAC for each subnet IP address.

    During a discussion at work today in regard to doing some thorough acceptance testing of the system that I currently work on the topic of who should actually do the testing came up. I remarked that I didn’t think that I as the developer should be doing acceptance testing and a colleague, Russ Taylor, agreed with me and then came out with this little pearler: Kids don’t mark their own homework Maybe its a common turn of phrase but I had never heard it before and, to me, it sums up very succinctly my feelings on the matter. I tweeted about it and it got a couple of retweets as well as a slightly different perspective from Bruce Durling who said: I'm of the opinion that testers should be in the dev team & the dev *team* should be responsible for quality Bruce makes a good point that testers should be considered part of the dev team. I agree wholly with that and don’t think that point of view necessarily conflicts with Russ’s analogy. Yes, developers should absolutely be responsible for testing their own work – I also think that in the murky world of data integration there is often a need for a 3rd party to validate that work. Improving testing mechanisms for data integration projects is something that is near and dear to my heart so I would welcome any other thoughts around this.   • Visual Studio Macros on 64 bit fail with COM error

    I'm doing some javascript development and found a cool macro to region my code ("Using #region Directive With JavaScript Files in Visual Studio"). I used this on my 32 bit box, and it worked first time. Stepping through it with the Visual Studio Macros IDE, it fails the first time on the DTE.ExecuteCommand("Edit.StopOutlining") line with a COM error (Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component). If I attempt to run it a second time, I can run it from the Macro Editor with no issue, but not from within Visual Studio with the macro explorer 'run macro' command.   • Multithreading or task parallel library

    I have an application which performs 30 independent tasks simultaneously using multithreading, each task retrieves data over http, performs a calculation and returns a result to the ui thread. Can I use tpl to perform the same tasks? Does tpl create 30 new threads and spread them over all the available cores, or does it just split the tasks over the available cores and use one thread per core? Will there be a performance boost using tpl over multithreading in this case?
