• Refresh layout while filling it

  Hi guys, I have an activity with a HorizontalScrollView. When it opens, I start filling this view (or rather, a container layout inside it) with another views. This is done from another thread by using handler.post. The views are added in bunches of 15, and when there are no more views to add, I start updating them with new data (this is a kind of streaming data from a server). The problem is that the scrollview is empty until all of the views are added. As soon as they are all added and start updating, the scrollview gets drawn. How do I refresh it in the process of adding views? I don't want the screen to be empty for 3 seconds while all of the views are added. Thanks a lot. UPDATE: turned out this problem is not specific for HorizontalScrollView, this is the case for any generic layout.

  Basically I create a page with a jQuery scroller on it. However in IE7 specifically, on refresh all the li's on the page are shown full out then they hide and the scroller begins. Anyone know how I can fire the jquery first, or prevent this from happening. • iPhone Core Data does not refresh table

  Hi all, I'm trying to write an application with Core Data, and I have been able to successfully read and write to the core data database. However, if I write to the database in one view controller, my other view controllers will not see the change until the app is closed then reopened again. This is really frustrating. I'm not entirely sure how to get the refresh - (void)refreshObject:(NSManagedObject *)object mergeChanges:(BOOL)flag method to work. How do I get a reference to my managed object? Anyways, here's the code I'm using to read the data back. This is in the viewDidLoad method.   The article Refresh and reset your PC mentions exactly what happens during the refresh and reset operations in Windows 8: Refresh The PC boots into Windows RE. Windows RE scans the hard drive for your data, settings, and apps, and puts them aside (on the same drive). Windows RE installs a fresh copy of Windows. Windows RE restores the data, settings, and apps it has set aside into the newly installed copy of Windows. The PC restarts into the newly installed copy of Windows. Reset The PC boots into the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE). Windows RE erases and formats the hard drive partitions on which Windows and personal data reside. Windows RE installs a fresh copy of Windows. The PC restarts into the newly installed copy of Windows. It is my understanding that Windows RE (Recovery Environment) is included as part of the System Reserved partition created by default on the first hard disk. The size of this partition has gone up to 350 MB from the 100 MB it used to be in Vista/Windows 7, no doubt as a result of adding these features. Now we have already discussed how to skip the creation of this System Reserved partition during Setup. Basically, the same techniques that used to work with Windows 7 work with Windows 8 as well. What I want to know is, what will be the exact repercussions of not having the System Reserved partition in place? I assume Troubleshoot / Advanced options should still be available as before: But what about the Troubleshoot menu itself? Will the Refresh and Reset options disappear? Will they remain but be unavailable? Or possibly they will throw an error if selected? Also, will it be possible to access and successfully execute these options if installation media is available? Anything else that might be affected?

• Is it possible to recover from the Windows 8 refresh feature?

  The intention of the Windows 8 RTM (released version) Refresh feature is to restore the system to the way it was when I first installed. It didn't though. Almost everything that came in the start-screen (not a menu any more) is gone, not just third party apps I installed, but EVERYTHING other than the icon for internet explorer, and the icon for the store, and the desktop, were wiped. Out of the box Windows 8 had a pretty large list of things installed, and it seems that the Refresh feature wipes all of them out. Is it possible to really get the system back to a fresh install state, or should I just re-install from the DVD I made? (I have access to Windows 8 RTM, legally through the MS Action Pack subscription.) I suspect that if I create a new account, I might get a new desktop with a default set of icons, but I'm hoping it might be possible to do this without using a different login. The second problem with Windows 8 refresh is it seems to trash the ACL's on my C: drive, taking all permissions away for access to the C: drive, making nothing on it visible or readable to my primary and only login account. I believe it might be possible to undo the damage done by the "refresh" with some judicious use of icacls from the command prompt.

• Force startx to run X in a specific resolution and refresh Rate

  From my past experience (using Win-Xp), this particular monitor works only on 60Hz , Best resolution being 1024x768. I have "installed and configured" Ubuntu 12.04 Minimal (on USB stick) so that most of the time terminal is used, however, whenever there is a need to enter GUI, I may issue startx command to go into gnome. However the problem is that on this particular system, issuing this command poses problem because its default refresh rate won't synchronize with the monitor. The display keep on flickering and utterly unreadable. It is visible that gnome has been loaded and default wallpaper and desktop items are visible. But the problem is due to refresh rate different than 60Hz. I am looking for a command attribute to startx command which will force the refresh rate to 60Hz and resolution preferably to 1204x768 I can open terminals with Ctrl+Alt+T and enter commands. Key combinations like Ctrl+Alt+NumPlus works flawlessly in distributions like solaris, but it's not working for me. Also the commands like xrandr -r 60 60 being refresh rate wont work. The same problem is faced even when I boot from a live CD

• System reverts to 87Hz refresh rate at every startup after I have installed nvidia drivers

  Every time the system starts the screen's refresh rate reverts to 87Hz which results in a pixelated and flickery screen which I have to manually correct every time by either selecting 60Hz as my refresh rate. I have tried "save to X configuration files" and even tried by making the changes as Root but to no avail as it again reverts to 87Hz on every system startup The Open Source Drivers are Okay for regular Unity but many games don't work on it hence I had to install the nvidia drivers. I have been facing this since the Beta Phase although this is on a fresh installation of 12.04 final release. I am also providing my Xorg.conf file just in case it might help http://paste.ubuntu.com/952196/ Also for some reason Displays shows my CRT monitor as Laptop but on open source drivers it was mentioning it as a 14" CRT only This bug is also present on Edubuntu 12.04 This is not present on Xubuntu 12.04 I had selected to install updates and 3rd party software on the install and was greeted with a correct refresh rate screen on the Boot Up. I like Xubuntu.

  Recently at work there have been increased focus on completion rate and load on the developers in our sprints. With completion rate I mean, if we plan 20 user stories for a sprint, what percentage of these user stories are closed at the end of the sprint. And with load I mean, if we have a sprint with 3 developers of 60 hours each, i.e. 180 hours for the sprint, how many hours worth of user stories do we schedule for the sprint. So I am really interested in others experience with this, I guess this is something everybody working with scrum deals with. My question is, what completion rate and load are expected/usual, and how are your team doing with respect to these parameters?

  Hi , I have been frequently asked questions like "Rate yourself in java" It goes like interviewer : Rate yourself in java on the scale of 10 me: 9 interviewer : Rate yourself in J2EE me : 8 .... But really I just come up with arbitrary numbers. Sure I know Java well , but what does it mean to say "9 out of 10" . I think it is a very subjective question, that does not make sense overall. The problem is ,if I say 9 , If I am not able to answer any question , the interviewer might think , "this guy just said 9" . On the other hand If I said 6 , there is a good chance the interviewer might think "He rates himself this low...not good" How do you respond to such questions ?

• Page load speeds effect on crawl rate

  We've noticed a big drop in the total pages crawled per day on our site, we have no control over the crawl rate in google webmaster tools so it's possible this has been changed by google. However it's a fairly large site and I wouldn't of thought that the crawl rate would've been decreased. What we have noticed though is a sizeable increase in page load times, in my mind this would be the cause. Can anyone else confirm if the crawl rate is directly correlated to page load time? Seems logical, longer page load time, less pages crawled. Any decent documentation on this would be appreciated, I don't normally have any input on SEO so this is new to me.

  Google analytics stats: 04 june 2012 Visits: 4.423 Unique visitors: 3.558 Pageviews: 77.352 Pageviews / visit: 17,49 Visit length: 00:06:26 Bounce rate: 1,09% 05 june 2012 Visits: 4.652 Unique visitors: 3.825 Pageviews: 45.087 Pageviews / visit: 9,69 Visit length: 00:06:45 Bounce rate: 19,60% From one day to another the bounce rate went from 1% to 19%, the pageviews dropped by half so did the pageviews/visit. The only thing I changed (If I remember correctly) on the site, was an advertisment that used a javascript. Could this be the reason? and, if it is, how can I know which one is the real stats?

  Hello All, The short question is - how can I prevent (delay) a bound UI element from refreshing until I want it to? The longer explanation: I have a process that adds a number of items to an ItemsControl, and then performs some additional calculations on those items using a background thread. This (correctly) updates the items as it goes along. However, I would like to prevent the ItemsControl from updating during a particular calculation, as it performs some reordering of the items before it does additional calculations based on that order, and then returns the items to their original order. I do show a "Please Wait" animation on top of the ItemsControl, with the ItemsControl dimmed down as it is working, but I'd rather not hide the ItemsControl entirely because it gives the user an indication that progress is being made.   Hello, I was searching for a way of detecting in my C# code if the page had been refreshed (f5). First I don’t know if a jQuery/JavaScript solution would be better than a fully C# ASP.Net. So... the first question would be: What would make you choose one over the other? And the third, and most important part, is if someone would help me with this. • sIFR: page refresh causes background images problems in IE8

  I'm using sIFR 3 r436. When a page is reloaded, and often also on load, in IE8 the background image does'nt appear completely. When clicking on an intern link the background is displayed correctly. Google Chrome has also minor problems in displaying.
