• Data Generator Source Adapter

  This component needs little explanation. It generates random integer (DT_I4) and string (DT_WSTR) data and places them in the pipeline. You specify how many columns of each you would like and for any string columns you pass a fixed length value. You then need to specify how many rows in total you require to be generated. This component is used by us to do testing of the pipeline and components downstream. Previously we would have used a script component (as a source) to generate the rows but found ourselves rewriting the code too often so created this component. • AT&T Application Resource Analyzer in NetBeans IDE

  Here at Øredev in Malmö I met Doug Sillars who does developer outreach for the AT&T Application Resource Optimizer. In this YouTube clip you see Doug explaining how it works and what it can do for optimizing performance of mobile applications. There's a free and open source Android app on GitHub that you can install on Android to collect data and then there's a Java Swing application for analyzing the results. And here's what that application looks like as a plugin in NetBeans IDE, click to enlarge the image, which shows the Android sources of the Data Collector, as well as the Data Analyzer ready to be used to collect data: Since the ARO Data Analyzer is written in Java and has JPanels defining its UI layer, integrating the user interface wasn't hard. Now working on the Actions, so there'll be a new ARO menu with start/stop data collecting menu items, etc, reusing as much of the original code as possible. That part is actually already working. I started up an Android emulator, then started the data collection process from the IDE. Now need to include the Actions for importing the data into the analyzer, together with a few other related features. A pretty cool feature in ARO is video capture, so that a movie can be made by ARO of all the steps taken on the device during the collection process, which will also be nice to have integrated into the NetBeans plugin. Ultimately, this will be handy for anyone creating Android applications in NetBeans IDE since they'll be able to use AT&T's ARO tool for optimizing the performance of the applications they're developing. It will also be useful for those using the built-in Cordova tools in NetBeans IDE to create iOS applications because ARO is also applicable to analyzing iOS application performance.

  When we develop libraries (whether internal or public), it helps to have a rapid ability to make changes and test them in a consuming application. Building Setup the library with automatic versioning and a nuspec Setup library assembly version to auto increment build and revision AssemblyInfo –> [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.*")] This autoincrements build and revision based on time of build Major & Minor Major should be changed when you have breaking changes Minor should be changed once you have a solid new release During development I don’t increment these Create a nuspec, version this with the code nuspec - set version to <version>$version$</version> This uses the assembly’s version, which is auto-incrementing Make changes to code Run automated build (ruby/rake) run “rake nuget” nuget task builds nuget package and copies it to a local nuget feed I use an environment variable to point at this so I can change it on a machine level! The nuget command below assumes a nuspec is checked in called Library.nuspec next to the csproj file $projectSolution = 'src\\Library.sln' $nugetFeedPath = ENV["NuGetDevFeed"] msbuild :build => [:clean] do |msb| msb.properties :configuration => :Release msb.targets :Build msb.solution = $projectSolution end task :nuget => [:build] do sh "nuget pack src\\Library\\Library.csproj /OutputDirectory " + $nugetFeedPath end Setup the local nuget feed as a nuget package source (this is only required once per machine) Go to the consuming project Update the package Update-Package Library or Install-Package TLDR change library code run “rake nuget” run “Update-Package library” in the consuming application build/test! If you manually execute any of this process, especially copying files, you will find it a burden to develop the library and will find yourself dreading it, and even worse, making changes downstream instead of updating the shared library for everyone’s sake. Publishing Once you have a set of changes that you want to release, consider versioning and possibly increment the minor version if needed. Pick the package out of your local feed, and copy it to a public / shared feed!   A week ago I took temporary ownership of a HTC Desire S so that I could start testing my app under Android. Support for Android was not in my original plan, but when Nomad added support for it recently, I starting thinking why not! So with some trepidation, I clicked the Build for Android button on the Nomad toolbar... nothing. Hmm... that's not right, I was expecting something to build. After a bit of faffing around I finally realised that I hadn't read the text on the Android setup page properly (yes that's right, RTFM!), and I needed a two-part application identifier, separated by a dot. I did this (not sure what the two part thing is all about, that one my list to investigate!) After making the change, the Android build worked and created the apk file. I uploaded this to the device and nervously ran it... it worked!!!  Well, more or less! So, there was not splash screen, but this was no surprise because I only have the iOS icons and splash screen in my project at the moment. What was more concerning was the compass update didn't seem to be working. I suspect this is a result of using an iOS specific option in the Phonegap compass watcher. Another thing to investigate. I've also just noticed that the css gradient background hasn't worked either... These issues aside, it was actually more successful than I was expecting, so happy days! Right, lets get Googling...   Next time: Preparing for submission to the App Store! :-)

• Castle Windsor Dependency Injection with MVC4

  Problem:Installed MVC4 on my local and ran a MVC3 app and got an error where Castle Windsor was unable to resolve any controllers' constructor injections. It failed with "No component for supporting the service....".As soon as I uninstall MVC4 beta, the problem vanishes like magic?!I also tried to upgrade to NHibernate 3 and Castle and Castle Windsor to version 3 (from version 2), but since I use Rhino Commons, that is not possible as the Rhino Commons project looks like is no longer supported and requests to upgrade it to work with NHibernate version 3 two years ago has gone unanswered. The problem is that Rhino Commons (the older version) references a method in Castle version 2 that has been depreciated in version 3: "CreateContainer("windsor.boo")' threw an exception of type 'System.MissingMethodException."Hope this helps anyone else who runs into this issue. Btw I used NuGet package manager to install the correct packages so I know that is not the issue.

  This question might be more suited to math.stackexchange.com, but here goes: Their Version Reconciliation takes two parts-- first the exchange of digests, and then an exchange of updates. I'll first paraphrase the paper's description of each step. To exchange digests, two peers send one another a set of pairs-- (peer, max_version) for each peer in the network, and then each one responds with a set of deltas. The deltas look like: (peer, key, value, version), for all tuples for which peer's state maps the key to the given value and version, and the version number is greater than the maximum version number peer has seen. This seems to require that each node remember the state of each other node, and the highest version number and ID each node has seen. Question Why must we iterate through all peers to exchange information between p and q?

  I've been wondering why the ubuntu's version of chromium is still on 25 -- from lucid up until raring -- while the current stable version is 28. The only reason I use chromium is to use the web apps integration. PS : I have tried to use the web apps integration on another version of chromium -- not google chrome -- which is 28 then it seems that some features I use was lost while using other version than 25. EDIT: Sorry I forgot to tell you I use the 13.04 version and also the development branch 13.10. My question was : Why does ubuntu doesn't update the package in the repository to the current stable version?

What i think i like is to program in c++ language. but i have a doubt mastering it. Because nowadays only a handful of company hire a c++ junior programmer. I think only in gaming industry that they would hire a c++ programmer and has an 3 or more years of xp. • Where are classpath, path and pathelement documented in Ant version 1.8.0?

  I'm looking over the documentation that comes with Apache Ant version 1.8.0 and can't find where classpath, path and pathelement are documented. I've found a page that describes path like structures but it doesn't list the valid attributes or nested elements for these. Another thing I can't find in the documentation is a description of the relationships between filelist, fileset, patternset and path and how to convert them back and forth.   Hello everyone, I am having an issue when I try and prevent inhertiance from a parent web.config down to a child specifically related to the node. My parent web.config contains about a dozen appSettings values while my child web.config contains none. Now, I originally began wrapping around only my system.net, web, etc nodes however when I ran my child application I recieved the following error: The configuration section 'appSettings' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration I really wasn't sure what this meant and a google search didn't yield me any decent results so I attempted to move the location node to also encompass the field in my parent web.config but to no avail. My child web.config is pretty vanilla so I am not sure what the problem is. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.   My goal is to take a Grails web application and build it into a Web ARchive (WAR file) using Maven, and the key is that it must populate the "plugins" folder without live access to the internet. An "out of the box" Grails webapp will already have the plugins folder populated with JAR files, but the maven build script should take care of populating it, just like it does for any traditional WAR projects (such as WEB-INF/lib/ if it's empty) This is an error when executing mvn grails:run-app with Grails 1.1 using Maven 2.0.10 and org.grails:grails-maven-plugin:1.0. (This "hibernate-1.1" plugin is needed to do GORM.) [INFO] [grails:run-app] Running pre-compiled script Environment set to development Plugin [hibernate-1.1] not installed, resolving..
