  • perl - converting a date into a string

    - by Jason
    I need to convert a date to a string, the date is entered as 07/04/2010 and should then read July 4th 2010. It should also be able to be entered using singe digits instead of double (7 instead of 07, and it needs to add the 20 to the year if the user enters only /10) This is what I have so far - #!/usr/bin/perl use CGI qw(:standard); use strict; #declare variables my ($date, $month, $day, $year); my @months = ("January", "February", "March", "April", "May", "June", "July", "August", "September", "October", "November", "December"); #assign input item to variable $date = param('Date'); #break date apart $date =~ /([0-9]{1,2})\/([0-9]{1,2})\/([0-9]{2,2}|20[0-9]{2,2})/; $month = $1; $day = $2; $year = $3; unless($year =~ /20[0-9]{2,2}/){ $year = "20".$year; } $date = $months[int($1)]." ".$day.", ".$year; #display date print "<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>The Date</TITLE></HEAD>\n"; print "<BODY>\n"; print "The date is: $date\n"; print "</BODY></HTML>\n"; However I keep getting errors Use of uninitialized value in pattern match (m//) at c08ex6.cgi line 14. • How does scope in Javascript work?

    - by Jim
    I can not understand how scoping works in Javascript. E.g. <html> <head> <script>var userName = "George"; </script> </head> <body> ...... <script> document.write('Name = ' + userName); </script> </body> </html> The variable userName is declared in another "section" of a script. As I understand it the browser renders html and executes code in the order it finds it. So how does userName in the second script tag gets resolved? Does it go to a global setting? Anything I declare earlier is global? I noticed the same happens if I do something like: <html> <head> <script> do { var userName = "George"; //bla } while (someCondition); </script> </head> <body> ...... <script> document.write('Name = ' + userName); </script> </body> </html> Even when userName is declared inside {} it is still resolved in the second script. How is that possible?

  • Message sent to deallocated instance which has never been released

    - by Jakub
    Hello, I started dealing with NSOperations and (as usual with concurrency) I'm observing strange behaviour. In my class I've got an instance variable: NSMutableArray *postResultsArray; when one button in the UI is pressed I initialize the array: postResultsArray = [NSMutableArray array]; and setup the operations (together with dependencies). In the operations I create a custom object and try to add to the array: PostResult *result = [[PostResult alloc] initWithServiceName:@"Sth" andResult:someResult]; [self.postResultsArray addObject:result]; and while adding I get: -[CFArray retain]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x3b40c30 which is strange as I don't release the array anywhere in my code (I did, but when the problem started to appear I commented all the release operations to be sure that they are not the case). I also used to have @synchronized section like below: PostResult *result = [[PostResult alloc] initWithServiceName:@"Sth" andResult:someResult]; @synchronized (self.postResultsArray) { [self.postResultsArray addObject:result]; } but the problem was the same (however, the error was for the synchronized operation). Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

  • Creating a dynamic two-column iOS spinning wheel with HTML/Javascript

    - by JSW189
    I am trying to create a dynamic two-column spinning wheel for iOS Safari using this HTML/Javascript wheel. However, I am having trouble getting the value of the first column to change the results of the second column. I have tried using an if statement to get the value of the first variable (var beverage) and add the value of the second column correspondingly. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong/if there is a better approach? function openBirthDate() { var beverage = { 1:'Coffee', 2:'Soda' }; //THIS IS WHERE I'M HAVING TROUBLE var results = SpinningWheel.getSelectedValues(); if (results.values === 1) { var company = { 1:'Starbucks', 2:'Dunkin Donuts' }; } else { var company = { 1:'Coke', 2:'Pepsi' }; } var size = { 1:'Tall', 2:'Grande', 3:'Venti' }; SpinningWheel.addSlot(type, '', 1); SpinningWheel.addSlot(company, '', 1); SpinningWheel.addSlot(size, '', 1); SpinningWheel.setCancelAction(cancel); SpinningWheel.setDoneAction(done); SpinningWheel.open(); } function done() { var results = SpinningWheel.getSelectedValues(); document.getElementById('result').innerHTML = 'values: ' + results.values.join(' ') + '<br />keys: ' + results.keys.join(', '); } function cancel() { document.getElementById('result').innerHTML = 'cancelled!'; } window.addEventListener('load', function(){ setTimeout(function(){ window.scrollTo(0,0); }, 100); }, true);

  • How stop mp3 playing started with audioplayer

    - by bucche
    Hi, My application consists of a table view. row1, row2, row3.... When a cell is touched a different mp3 starts to play (row1.mp3, row2.mp3, row3.mp3....). it works! but i have a problem: i am not able to stop previous mp3, so if i touch a second cell i have 2 mp3s playing... if i touch a third cell i have 3 mp3s and so on... i want to stop mp3 that started before and play mp3 that is related to touched cell... during my tries, i created a variable to show some alerts if the player plays or not and when i am "inside the if" i used [myAudioPlayer stop].. i see the correct alert but mp3 doesn't stop. here is my code - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSArray *elementi = [[array objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] componentsSeparatedByString:@"|"]; NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/%@.mp3", [[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath],[elementi objectAtIndex:1]]]; NSError *error; myAudioPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url error:&error]; myAudioPlayer.numberOfLoops = -1; if (inEsecuzione == 0) { UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"1" message:@"1" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"OK"otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; [myAudioPlayer play]; inEsecuzione = 1; } else { UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"2" message:@"2" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"OK"otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; [myAudioPlayer stop]; inEsecuzione = 0; } } as i wrote before, i am not able to stop previous mp3

  • How to round-off hours based on Minutes(hours+0 if min<30, hours+1 otherwise) ?

    - by infant programmer
    I need to round-off the hours based on the minutes in a DateTime variable. The condition is: if minutes are less than 30, then minutes must be set to zero and no changes to hours, else if minutes =30, then hours must be set to hours+1 and minutes are again set to zero. Seconds are ignored. example: 11/08/2008 04:30:49 should become 11/08/2008 05:00:00 and 11/08/2008 04:29:49 should become 11/08/2008 04:00:00 I have written code which works perfectly fine, but just wanted to know a better method if could be written and also would appreciate alternative method(s). string date1 = "11/08/2008 04:30:49"; DateTime startTime; DateTime.TryParseExact(date1, "MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss", null, System.Globalization.DateTimeStyles.None, out startTime); if (Convert.ToInt32((startTime.Minute.ToString())) > 29) { startTime = DateTime.Parse(string.Format("{0}/{1}/{2} {3}:{4}:{5}", startTime.Month.ToString(), startTime.Day.ToString(), startTime.Year.ToString(), startTime.Hour.ToString(), "00", "00")); startTime = startTime.Add(TimeSpan.Parse("01:00:00")); Console.WriteLine("startTime is :: {0}", startTime.ToString("MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss")); } else { startTime = DateTime.Parse(string.Format("{0}/{1}/{2} {3}:{4}:{5}", startTime.Month.ToString(), startTime.Day.ToString(), startTime.Year.ToString(), startTime.Hour.ToString(), "00", "00")); Console.WriteLine("startTime is :: {0}", startTime.ToString("MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss")); }

  • using 'or' operator not working for menu

    - by John Wilkes
    In my code here, I have a CSS class called "active" which I use if the $_GET['page'] == tutorials, php, mysql, etc... The problem is, even if the 'page' variable is not equal to any of these values, the Tutorials button in this case is still active for some reason. Any ideas why this would be happening? Am I using the 'or' (||) operand incorrectly? <?php if($_GET['page'] == 'tutorials' || 'php' || 'mysql' || 'html' || 'css' || 'js') { ?> <li class="active"> <?php } else { ?> <li> <?php } ?> <a href="index.php?page=tutorials">Tutorials</a> <ul> <li><a href="index.php?page=php">PHP</a></li> <li><a href="index.php?page=mysql">MySQL</a></li> <li><a href="index.php?page=html">HTML</a></li> <li><a href="index.php?page=css">CSS</a></li> <li><a href="index.php?page=js">JS</a></li> </ul> </li>

  • php cURL. preg_match , extract text from xhtml

    - by Michael
    I'm trying to extract the price from the bellow html page/link using php cURL and preg_match . Basically I'm expecting for this code to output 4,550 but for some reasons I get Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in C:\wamp\www\test.php on line 22 I think that the pattern is correct because if I put the html itself in a variable and escape the "" it works ! . Also if I output (echo $result;) it displays the html properly grabbed from foxtons website so I just can't figure it out why the whole thing doesn't work . I need to make this work and also I would appreciate if you would tell me why is that notice generated and why my current script doesn't work. $url = "http://www.foxtons.co.uk/search?bedrooms_from=0&property_id=727717"; $ch = curl_init($url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0); curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); $result = curl_exec($ch); curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); $result2 = str_replace('"', '\"', $result); $tagname1= ");<\/script "; $tagname2= "<\/noscript per month<\/a"; $pattern = "/$tagname1(.*?)$tagname2/"; preg_match($pattern, $result, $matches); $prices = $matches[1]; print_r($prices); ?

  • How to make a self contained jQuery plugin that finds the tallest image height?

    - by Jannis
    I have been trying to make this to be a little jQuery plugin that I can reuse in the future without having to write the following into my actions.js file in full. This works when loaded in the same file where I set the height using my variable tallest. var tallest = null; $('.slideshow img').each(function(index) { if ($(this).height() >= tallest ) { tallest = $(this).height(); } }); $('.slideshow').height(tallest); This works and will cycle through all the items, then set the value of tallest to the greatest height found. The following however does not work: This would be the plugin, loaded from its own file (before the actions.js file that contains the parts using this): (function($){ $.fn.extend({ tallest: function() { var tallest = null; return this.each(function() { if ($(this).height() >= tallest ) { tallest = $(this).height(); } }); } }); })(jQuery); Once loaded I am trying to use it as follows: $('.slideshow img').tallest(); $('.slideshow').height(tallest); However the above two lines return an error of 'tallest is undefined'. How can I make this work? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thinking about this even more the perfect usage of this would be as follows: $('.container').height(tallest('.container item')); But I wouldn't even know where to begin to get this to work in the manner that you pass the object to be measured into the function by adding it into the brackets of the function name. Thanks for reading, Jannis

  • Why does GLSL's arithmetic functions yield so different results on the iPad than on the simulator?

    - by cheeesus
    I'm currently chasing some bugs in my OpenGL ES 2.0 fragment shader code which is running on iOS devices. The code runs fine in the simulator, but on the iPad it has huge problems and some of the calculations yield vastly different results, I had for example 0.0 on the iPad and 4013.17 on the simulator, so I'm not talking about small differences which could be the result of some rounding errors. One of the things I noticed is that, on the iPad, float1 = pow(float2, 2.0); can yield results which are very different from the results of float1 = float2 * float2; Specifically, when using pow(x, 2.0) on a variable containing a larger negative number like -8, it seemed to return a value which satified the condition if (powResult <= 0.0). Also, the result of both operations (pow(x, 2.0) as well as x*x) yields different results in the simulator than on the iPad. Used floats are mediump, but I get the same stuff with highp. Is there a simple explanation for those differences? I'm narrowing the problem down, but it takes so much time, so maybe someone can help me here with a simple explanation.

  • Getting ellipses function parameters without an initial argument

    - by Tox1k
    So I've been making a custom parser for a scripting language, and I wanted to be able to pass only ellipses arguments. I don't need or want an initial variable, however Microsoft and C seem to want something else. FYI, see bottom for info. I've looked at the va_* definitions #define _crt_va_start(ap,v) ( ap = (va_list)_ADDRESSOF(v) + _INTSIZEOF(v) ) #define _crt_va_arg(ap,t) ( *(t *)((ap += _INTSIZEOF(t)) - _INTSIZEOF(t)) ) #define _crt_va_end(ap) ( ap = (va_list)0 ) and the part I don't want is the v in va_start. As a little background I'm competent in goasm and I know how the stack works so I know what's happening here. I was wondering if there is a way to get the function stack base without having to use inline assembly. Ideas I've had: #define im_va_start(ap) (__asm { mov [ap], ebp }) and etc... but really I feel like that's messy and I'm doing it wrong. struct function_table { const char* fname; (void)(*fptr)(...); unsigned char maxArgs; }; function_table mytable[] = { { "MessageBox", &tMessageBoxA, 4 } }; ... some function that sorts through a const char* passed to it to find the matching function in mytable and calls tMessageBoxA with the params. Also, the maxArgs argument is just so I can check that a valid number of parameters is being sent. I have personal reasons for not wanting to send it in the function, but in the meantime we can just say it's because I'm curious. This is just an example; custom libraries are what I would be implementing so it wouldn't just be calling WinAPI stuff. void tMessageBoxA(...) { // stuff to load args passed MessageBoxA(arg1, arg2, arg3, arg4); } I'm using the __cdecl calling convention and I've looked up ways to reliably get a pointer to the base of the stack (not the top) but I can't seem to find any. Also, I'm not worried about function security or typechecking.

  • Delphi: How to avoid EIntOverflow underflow when subtracting?

    - by Ian Boyd
    Microsoft already says, in the documentation for GetTickCount, that you could never compare tick counts to check if an interval has passed. e.g.: Incorrect (pseudo-code): DWORD endTime = GetTickCount + 10000; //10 s from now ... if (GetTickCount > endTime) break; The above code is bad because it is suceptable to rollover of the tick counter. For example, assume that the clock is near the end of it's range: endTime = 0xfffffe00 + 10000 = 0x00002510; //9,488 decimal Then you perform your check: if (GetTickCount > endTime) Which is satisfied immediatly, since GetTickCount is larger than endTime: if (0xfffffe01 > 0x00002510) The solution Instead you should always subtract the two time intervals: DWORD startTime = GetTickCount; ... if (GetTickCount - startTime) > 10000 //if it's been 10 seconds break; Looking at the same math: if (GetTickCount - startTime) > 10000 if (0xfffffe01 - 0xfffffe00) > 10000 if (1 > 10000) Which is all well and good in C/C++, where the compiler behaves a certain way. But what about Delphi? But when i perform the same math in Delphi, with overflow checking on ({Q+}, {$OVERFLOWCHECKS ON}), the subtraction of the two tick counts generates an EIntOverflow exception when the TickCount rolls over: if (0x00000100 - 0xffffff00) > 10000 0x00000100 - 0xffffff00 = 0x00000200 What is the intended solution for this problem? Edit: i've tried to temporarily turn off OVERFLOWCHECKS: {$OVERFLOWCHECKS OFF}] delta = GetTickCount - startTime; {$OVERFLOWCHECKS ON} But the subtraction still throws an EIntOverflow exception. Is there a better solution, involving casts and larger intermediate variable types?

  • KnockoutJS - creating object doesn't work

    - by Kiwanax
    I'm doing a navigation list with menus and submenus. I have the following structure: function Menu(navigation) { this.NavigationUrl = ko.observable(navigation.NavigationUrl); this.NavigationTitle = ko.observable(navigation.NavigationTitle); this.NavigationDescription = ko.observable(navigation.NavigationDescription); var mappedChildren = ko.utils.arrayMap(navigation.Children, function (child) { return new Menu(child); }); this.Children = ko.observableArray(mappedChildren); } function DashboardViewModel() { var self = this; self.LoggedUser = ko.observable(""); self.Navigations = ko.observableArray([]); $.get('/Home/DashboardDependencies', {}, function (result) { self.LoggedUser(result.LoggedUser); var mappedNavigations = ko.utils.arrayMap(result.Navigations, function (item) { var menu = new Menu(item); // When I alert item, the result appears properly: // { "NavigationTitle": "blah", "NavigationDescription": "bleh" [...] } alert(JSON.stringify(item)); // But when I alert the new menu object, the result doesn't appear: // Just: "{}" alert(JSON.stringify(menu)); return menu; }); self.Navigations = mappedNavigations; }); } ko.applyBindings(new DashboardViewModel()); So, check it out. When I try to alert the item variable, the result appears properly. When I try to alert the new Menu object, the result just show {}. Why this' happening? Thank you all for the help!

  • Open an Emacs buffer when a command tries to open an editor in shell-mode

    - by Chris Conway
    I like to use Emacs' shell mode, but it has a few deficiencies. One of those is that it's not smart enough to open a new buffer when a shell command tries to invoke an editor. For example with the environment variable VISUAL set to vim I get the following from svn propedit: $ svn propedit svn:externals . "svn-prop.tmp" 2L, 149C[1;1H ~ [4;1H~ [5;1H~ [6;1H~ [7;1H~ ... (It may be hard to tell from the representation, but it's a horrible, ugly mess.) With VISUAL set to "emacs -nw", I get $ svn propedit svn:externals . emacs: Terminal type "dumb" is not powerful enough to run Emacs. It lacks the ability to position the cursor. If that is not the actual type of terminal you have, use the Bourne shell command `TERM=... export TERM' (C-shell: `setenv TERM ...') to specify the correct type. It may be necessary to do `unset TERMINFO' (C-shell: `unsetenv TERMINFO') as well.svn: system('emacs -nw svn-prop.tmp') returned 256 (It works with VISUAL set to just emacs, but only from inside an Emacs X window, not inside a terminal session.) Is there a way to get shell mode to do the right thing here and open up a new buffer on behalf of the command line process?

  • Accessing program information that gdb sees in C++

    - by anon
    I have a program written in C++, on Linux, compiled with -g. When I run it under gdb, I can 1) set breakpoints 2) at those breakpoints, print out variables 3) see the stackframe 4) given a variable that's a structure, print out parts of the structure (i.e. how ddd displays information). Now, given that my program is compiled with "-g" -- is there anyway that I can access this power within my program itself? I.e. given that my program is compiled with "-g", is there some std::vector<string> getStackFrame(); function I can call to get the current stackframe at the current point of execution? Given a pointer to an object and it's type ... can I do std::vector getClassMember(class_name); ? I realize the default answer is "no, C++ doesn't support that level of introspection" -- however, recall I'm on linux, my program is compiled with "-g", and gdb can do it, so clearly the inforamtion is there. Question is: is there some API for accessing it? EDIT: PS Naysers, I'd love to see a reason for closing this question.

  • C++. How to define template parameter of type T for class A when class T needs a type A template parameter?

    - by jaybny
    Executor class has template of type P and it takes a P object in constructor. Algo class has a template E and also has a static variable of type E. Processor class has template T and a collection of Ts. Question how can I define Executor< Processor<Algo> > and Algo<Executor> ? Is this possible? I see no way to defining this, its kind of an "infinite recursive template argument" See code. template <class T> class Processor { map<string,T> ts; void Process(string str, int i) { ts[str].Do(i); } } template <class P> class Executor { Proc &p; Executor(P &p) : Proc(p) {} void Foo(string str, int i) { p.Process(str,i); } Execute(string str) { } } template <class E> class Algo { static E e; void Do(int i) {} void Foo() { e.Execute("xxx"); } } main () { typedef Processor<Algo> PALGO; // invalid typedef Executor<PALGO> EPALGO; typedef Algo<EPALGO> AEPALGO; Executor<PALGO> executor(PALGO()); AEPALGO::E = executor; }

  • Does F# documentation have a way to search for functions by their types?

    - by Nathan Sanders
    Say I want to know if F# has a library function of type ('T -> bool) -> 'T list -> int ie, something that counts how many items of a list that a function returns true for. (or returns the index of the first item that returns true) I used to use the big list at the MSR site for F# before the documentation on MSDN was ready. I could just search the page for the above text because the types were listed. But now the MSDN documentation only lists types on the individual pages--the module page is a mush of descriptive text. Google kinda-sorta works, but it can't help with // compatible interfaces ('T -> bool) -> Seq<'T> -> int // argument-swaps Seq<'T> -> ('T -> bool) -> int // type-variable names ('a -> bool) -> Seq<'a> -> int // wrappers ('a -> bool) -> 'a list -> option<int> // uncurried versions ('T -> bool) * 'T list -> int // .NET generic syntax ('T -> bool) -> List<'T> -> int // methods List<'T> member : ('T -> bool) -> int Haskell has a standalone program for this called Hoogle. Does F# have an equivalent, like Fing or something?

  • Google Bar Chart Time Label Interval

    - by Alex Angelini
    Hi I am using Google Bar Chart through the visualization API on my site: http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/gallery/imagebarchart.html And my x-axis is time, and every time interval is a time of day in the format (HH:MM) Here is my code for the graph: <script type="text/javascript" src="https://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> %s google.load("visualization", "1", {packages:["imagebarchart"]}); google.setOnLoadCallback(drawChart); function drawChart() { var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data.addColumn('string', 'Date'); data.addColumn('number', 'Amount'); data.addRows({{Rows}}); %s var chart = new google.visualization.ImageBarChart(document.getElementById('chart_div')); chart.draw(data, {width: 900, height: 340, min: 0, isVertical:true, legend:'none'}); } </script> The rows of data are added later using a templating engine, but that is the jist of my chart. Because I have added my time variable as 'string' I cannot use the valueLabelsInterval option to only show every 4 labels. Because I can't do that the labels overlap and look ugly. Is there any other way to only show every other time label or every 4th one, I read through the docs but could not see how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

  • When should we use private variables and when should we use properties.

    - by Shantanu Gupta
    In most of the cases we usually creates a private variable and its corresponding public properties and uses them for performing our functionalities. Everyone has different approach like some ppl uses properties every where and some uses private variables within a same class as they are private and opens it to be used by external environment by using properties. Suppose I takes a scenario say insertion in a database. I creates some parameters that need to be initialized. I creates 10 private variables and their corresp public properties which are given as private string name; public string Name { get{return name;} set{name=value;} } and so on. In these cases what should be used internally variables or properties. And in those cases like public string Name { get{return name;} set{name=value>5?5:0;} //or any action can be done. this is just an eg. } In such cases what should be done.

  • iPhone and iPad : Doing a "select * from something" query in a SQLite database

    - by Abramodj
    Hi folks, i'm trying to use the SQLite data base in my iPad app, and here's my function to make a query: - (void)executeQuery:(char*)query { NSString *file = [self getWritableDBPath]; NSFileManager *fileManager = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; BOOL success = [fileManager fileExistsAtPath:file]; // If its not a local copy set it to the bundle copy if(!success) { //file = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:DATABASE_TITLE ofType:@"db"]; [self createEditableCopyOfDatabaseIfNeeded]; } dataArray = NULL; dataArray = [NSMutableArray array]; sqlite3 *database = NULL; if (sqlite3_open([file UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_exec(database, query, loadTimesCallback, dataArray, NULL); } sqlite3_close(database); [self logResults]; } if I call [self executeQuery:"select name from table1"]; everything is working fine. But if i call [self executeQuery:"select * from cars"]; the app crashes telling me that the NSMutableArray dataArray is not the right kind of variable where to set the query results. So, how can i do a "select * form table1" query, and store the results? Thanks! EDIT: Here's my loadTimesCallback method: static int loadTimesCallback(void *context, int count, char **values, char **columns) { NSMutableArray *times = (NSMutableArray *)context; for (int i=0; i < count; i++) { const char *nameCString = values[i]; [times addObject:[NSString stringWithUTF8String:nameCString]]; } return SQLITE_OK; }

  • Glassfish 3: How do I get and use a developers build so I can navigate a stack trace including Glas

    - by Thorbjørn Ravn Andersen
    I am migrating a JSF 1.1 application to JEE 6 Web profile, and doing it in steps. I am in the process of moving from JSP with JSF 1.1 to Facelets under JSF 1.2 using the jsf-facelets.jar for JSF 1.2, and received an "interesting" stack trace when trying to lookup a key in a Map using a "{Bean.foo.map.key}" where the stacktrace complained about "key" not being a valid integer. (After code introspection I am workarounding it using a number as the key). That bug is not what this question is about. In such a situation it is essential to be able to navigate the source of every line in the stack trace. In Eclipse I normally attach a source jar to every jar on the build path, but in this particular case the Glassfish server adapter creates a library automatically containing the jars. Also there is to my knowledge no debug build of Glassfish where sources are included in the bundle. Glassfish is a non-trivial Maven project, and a bit picky too. I am not very familiar with maven, but have managed to checkout the code from Subversion and build it for the 3.0 tag according to http://wiki.glassfish.java.net/Wiki.jsp?page=V3FullBuildInstructions#section-V3FullBuildInstructions-CheckoutTheWorkspace - it appears to be the code corresponding to the official released 3.0 version. After finishing the "mvn -U install" part, I have then tried to create Eclipse projects by first using "mvn -DdownloadSources=true eclipse:eclipse" and then import them in Eclipse JEE 3.5.2 and specifying the M2_REPO variable but many of the projects still have compilation errors, and I cannot locate any instructions from Oracle about how to do this. I'd appreciate some help in just getting a functional IDE workspace reflecting the 3.0 version of Glassfish. I have Eclipse 3.5.2, Netbeans 6.8 and 6.9 beta, and IntelliJ IDEA 9, and Linux/Windows/OS X do do it on.

  • reading a file of unknown length with a function

    - by Faken
    I'm trying to write a short function that will let me quickly read in a file of unknown size and return pointer to the array of data and the length of that array but it seems my code isn't working. What am i doing wrong? int readIn(int* pointer, param parameters, string description) { string fileName = parameters.fileName + " " + description + ".bin"; ifstream readFile; readFile.open(fileName.c_str(), ios::in|ios::binary|ios::ate); int size = readFile.tellg(); int length = size / 4; int* output = new int [length]; readFile.seekg (0, ios::beg); readFile.read(reinterpret_cast<char*>(output), (size)); readFile.close(); pointer = output; // link new array with the pointer return length; } and in the main function: int* testList; int numEntries = readIn(testList, parameters, "test"); I end up with an error saying that my testList variable was used and not initialized. What am i doing wrong?

  • rails 4 -- working with js format from ajax

    - by user101289
    I'm still working on learning Rails, and I have a page with team information that will get updated based on a team's icon click, which fires an ajax call to the controller to populate some tabs. I've read some good info about how to use format.js in the controller to render a partial from a js.coffee or js.erb file. The problem I'm running into is in the coffeescript I think. Right now, I'm getting some data called @schedules from the controller, and passing it to a schedule.js.coffee file that should populate a partial for each record returned and attach it to a table. // schedule.js.coffee $.each @schedules, (schedule) -> ($ '#schedule_data').append("<%= j render(partial: 'schedules/schedule', locals: { s: schedule }) %>") This throws an error `> undefined local variable or method `schedule' for #<#<Class:0x007fe535cd2900>:0x007fe535d32a30>` I tried simplifying the coffeescript to just log the output: $.each @schedules, (schedule) -> console.log(schedule) but this prints nothing. Am I missing something? I am very inexperienced with coffeescript, but it seems like I should be getting some data-- I verified that the schedule items do exist for this team item.

  • iPhone: How to Determine Average Light/Dark of an Area of an UIImage

    - by TechZen
    I need to place labels with a transparent background over a variable-content UIImage. Readability will vary significantly depending on the relationship between the color of the label's text and the color/luminosity of the area of the image displayed under the label. Since the image will be constantly changing, the color of the label's text needs to change in sync. I have found several techniques for determining the color, perceived luminosity etc of a single pixel. However, I need to rather quickly (while a view loads) determine the rough perceived color/luminosity of an area of the UIImage under the frame of the UILabel. I presume I will also need to measure the alpha because the same color/luminosity looks different at different alpha values. Is there a way to calculate such a value for an area? Will I be reduced to simply summing pixels? If it comes to that, is there an algorithm to accomplish this? I've thought of two possible approaches: Perform some "folding" operations i.e. combining pixels from one half of the area to the other half. Then repeat until I get a single value. Would this be practical? How would you logically combine pixels to average their perceived color/luminosity? Sample a statistically significant number of pixels in the area and then combine them (somehow) to get a rough measure. I think this problem comes up a lot these days with people being so found of customizing backgrounds. Seems like something that would be worth my time to bang out a category or class to handle this and then share it around.

  • In SQL can I return a tables with a varying number of columns

    - by Matt
    I have a somewhat more complicated scenario, but I think it should be possible. I have a large SPROC whose result is a set of characteristics for a set of persons. So the Table would look something like this: Property | Client1 Client 2 Client3 ----------------------------------------------------------- Sex | M F M Age | 67 56 67 Income | Low Mid Low It's built using cursors, iterating over different datasets. The problem I am facing is that there is a varying number of Clients and Properties, so an equally valid result over different input sets might be: Property | Client1 Client 2 ------------------------------------------- Sex | M F Age | 67 56 Weight | 122 122 The different number of properties is easy, those are just extra rows. My problem is that I need to declare a temporary table with a varying number of columns. There could be 2 clients or 100. Every client in guaranteed to have every property ultimately listed. What SQL structure would statisfy this and how can I declare it and insert things into it? I can't just flip the columns and rows either because there is a variable number of each.
