  • How to force the build to be out of date, when a text file is modified?

    - by demoncodemonkey
The Scenario My project has a post-build phase set up to run a batch file, which reads a text file "version.txt". The batch file uses the information in version.txt to inject the DLL with a version block using this tool. The version.txt is included in my project to make it easy to modify. It looks a bit like this: @set #Description="TankFace Utility Library" @set #FileVersion="0.1.2.0" @set #Comments="" Basically the batch file renames this file to version.bat, calls it, then renames it back to version.txt afterwards. The Problem When I modify version.txt (e.g. to increment the file version), and then press F7, the build is not seen as out-of-date, so the post-build step is not executed, so the DLL's version doesn't get updated. I really want to include the .txt file as an input to the build, but without anything actually trying to use it. If I #include the .txt file from a CPP file in the project, the compiler fails because it obviously doesn't understand what "@set" means. If I add /* ... */ comments around the @set commands, then the batch file has some syntax errors but eventually succeeds. But this is a poor solution I think. So... how would you do it?

  • convert file path to string

    - by salvationishere
I am developing a c# web application with VS 2008 where I am trying to capture the physical path of the selected file. Using IE, I am finally able to retrieve this now in text variable. But I want to capture this information in string. How do I do this? Currently I am using: lb3.Text = Page.Request.PhysicalPath; And it gives me: Text = "C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\AddFileToSQL\AddFileToSQL\Default.aspx"

  • Un-enlisting a BizTalk MSMQ send port in batch file

    - by SteveC
I've got a solution which I setup / cleanup using batch files ... - there are a pair of MSMQ ports, send and receive, with another application on the end of the queues I'm finding I can't properly stop the orchestration in the batch file ... the error is the send port is unenlisted - I'm using the StopOrch.vbs script from the SDK samples But I can go into BizTalk Admin Console and manually stop the orchestration with Full Terminate Ok The setup / cleanup works Ok if I don't actually push any messages down the MSMQ queues

  • Make Fluent NHibernate output schema update to file

    - by Bender
I am successfully getting Fluent NHibernate to update my database by calling UpdateBaseFiles: Public Sub UpdateBaseFiles() Dim db As SQLiteConfiguration db = SQLiteConfiguration.Standard.UsingFile(BASE_DBNAME) Fluently.Configure() _ .Database(db) _ .Mappings(Function(m) m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf(Of FluentMap)()) _ .ExposeConfiguration(AddressOf UpdateSchema) _ .BuildConfiguration() End Sub Private Sub UpdateSchema(ByVal Config As Configuration) Dim SchemaUpdater As New SchemaUpdate(Config) SchemaUpdater.Execute(True, True) End Sub How do I output the DDL to a file, I do this when initially creating the schema by using: Private Sub BuildSchema(ByVal Config As Configuration) Dim SchemaExporter As New SchemaExport(Config) SchemaExporter.SetOutputFile("schema.sql") SchemaExporter.Create(False, True) End Sub but SchemaUpdate does not have a SetOutputFile method.

  • Redirecting multiple stdouts to single file

    - by obvio171
I have a program running on multiple machines with NFS and I'd like to log all their outputs into a single file. Can I just run ./my_program >> filename on every machine or is there an issue with concurrency I should be aware of? Since I'm only appending, I don't think there would be a problem, but I'm just trying to make sure.

  • Getting A File's Mime Type In Java

    - by Lee Theobald
I was just wondering how most people fetch a mime type from a file in Java? So far I've tried two utils: JMimeMagic & Mime-Util. The first gave me memory exceptions, the second doesn't close its streams off properly. I was just wondering if anyone else had a method/library that they used and worked correctly?

  • vshost.exe file in Release folder?

    - by baal80
Why there is a appname.vshost.exe file generated for the release version of my application? I might add that I'm using an external dll library and some unsafe code. What's even more interesting, my application launched from Release folder does not work correctly (it works OK when launched from Debug folder). It's bit hard to explain - feel free to ask if you need more info.
