  • Unique element ID to reference later

    I'm trying to figure out a method of storing a unique reference to each tag on a particular page. I won't have any ability to edit the page content and I'll the generated UID to stay the same on every page refresh. Since browsers don't generate any kind of UID for elements, I was thinking that the only method to do this would be to execute a script which walks the DOM and creates a UID for each it comes across. I don't know how accurate this will be, especially considering I'll need to ensure it creates the same UID for the tag each time the script crawls the page. Can anyone think of any other, more accurate ways of mapping a page? Many thanks.

  • Another IE Issue with AJAX

The code is supposed to refresh based on setInterval, and does so normally in all other browsers except IE, which just doesn't refresh.     I am using the excellent jTemplates plugin to generate content. Given a data object like this... var data = { name: 'datatable', table: [ {id: 1, name: 'Anne'}, {id: 2, name: 'Amelie'}, {id: 3, name: 'Polly'}, {id: 4, name: 'Alice'}, {id: 5, name: 'Martha'} ] }; ..I'm wondering if it is possible to directly specify an object in an array of objects using $T. (I'm hoping there is something like $T.table:3 available) Currently the only way I can think of to access a specific object in an array is to do something like this... {#foreach $T.table as record} {#if $T.record$iteration == 3} This is record 3! Name: {$T.record.name} {#/if} {#/for} However that seems clumsy... Any suggestions? Thanks

  • Firefox DOMContentLoaded event problem

    Hi, i've created a script that works with the Dom so it has to wait until the Dom is ready before execute every operation. I want that this script can be included in two ways: In the head tag so that it is loaded before the Dom is ready. I've used document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded",function(){...},false) for this and it works well Loaded dinamically when the Dom is already loaded. In this case the script doesn't work because for some reasons if the Dom is already loaded the DOMContentLoaded event isn't fired So i want to know, is there a way to check if the Dom is already loaded so that the script can execute the code without using the DOMContentLoaded event?

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 AJAX dilemma: Lose Models concept or create unmanageable JavaScript

    Hi, Ok, let's assume we are working with ASP.NET MVC 2 (latest and greatest preview) and we want to create AJAX user interface with jQuery. So what are our real options here? Option 1 - Pass Json from the Controller to the view, and then the view submits Json back to the controller. This means (in the order given): User opens some View (let's say - /Invoices/January) which has to visualize a list of data (e.g. <IEnumerable<X.Y.Z.Models.Invoice>>) Controller retrieves the Model from the repository (assuming we are using repository pattern). Controller creates a new instance of a class which we will serialize to Json. The reasaon we do this, is because the model may not be serializable (circular reference ftl) Controller populates the soon-to-be-serialized class with data Controller serializes the class to Json and passes it the view. User does some change and submits the 'form' The View submits back Json to the controller The Controller now must 'manually' validate the input, because the Json passed does not bind to a Model See, if our View is communicating to the controller via Json, we lose the Model validation, which IMHO is incredible disadvantage. In this case, forget about data annotations and stuff. Option 2 - Ok, the alternative of the first approach is to pass the Models to the Views, which is the default behavior in the template when you start a new project. We pass a strong typed model to the view The view renders the appropriate html and javascript, sticking to the model property names. This is important! The user submits the form. If we stick to the model names, when we .serialize() the form and submit it to the controller it will map to a model. There is no Json mapping. The submitted form directly binds to a strongly typed model, hence, we can use the model validation. E.g. we keep the business logic where it should be. Problem with this approach is, if we refactor some of the Models (change property names, types, etc), the javascript we wrote would become invalid. We will have to manually refactor the scripting and hope we don't miss something. There is no way you can test it either. Ok, the question is - how to write an AJAX front end, which keeps the business logic validation in the model (e.g. controller passes and receives a Model type), but in the same time doesn't screw up the javascript and html when we refactor the model?

    Every time a user registers to our site we need to show a non-disclosure agreement. In order to continue the user has to accept it. My issue is that I have the NDA in all one page and the user does not really read it and accept (like we all do). What I want is to make sure the user reads the NDA and accepts it one he "read" it? What I have now is a simple jqeury validation if the user checks a box and click on accept. then it goes to the next page.     I'm trying to prove that changing document.domain can be used only for cross scripting on the same upper level domain. For example if i will try to change document.domain to "google.com" on page which is located on www.test.com I will get a security exception in FF. Does anybody know where to locate an official proof of that?

  • Is it possible to execute a function in Mongo that accepts any parameters?

    I'm looking to write a function to do a custom query on a collection in Mongo. Problem is, I want to reuse that function. My thought was this (obviously contrived): var awesome = function(count) { return function() { return this.size == parseInt(count); }; } So then I could do something along the lines of: db.collection.find(awesome(5)); However, I get this error: error: { "$err" : "error on invocation of $where function: JS Error: ReferenceError: count is not defined nofile_b:1" } So, it looks like Mongo isn't honoring scope, but I'm really not sure why. Any insight would be appreciated. To go into more depth of what I'd like to do: A collection of documents has lat/lng values, and I want to find all documents within a concave or convex polygon. I have the function written but would ideally be able to reuse the function, so I want to pass in an array of points composing my polygon to the function I execute on Mongo's end. I've looked at Mongo's geospatial querying and it currently on supports circle and box queries - I need something more complex.

    Hi, I have an Editor Grid where if a specific cell is in focus (is being edited), a window containing a tree panel pops up allowing the user to choose a node from the treepanel as the new value of the cell. This way, the user isn't actually editing the cell in question, but is using the window to choose the new value. However, I am having difficulties setting the value of the cell in question programmatically.   • Hotkey to toggle checkboxes does opposite

    In this jsFiddle, I have a table with checkboxes in the first column. The master checkbox in the table header functions as expected toggling the state of all the checkboxes in the table when it is clicked. I have set up a hotkey for "shift-x" to toggle the master checkbox. The desired behavior when using the hotkey is: The master checkbox is toggled The child checkboxes each have their checked state set to match the master But what is actually happening is the opposite... The child checkboxes each have their checked state set to match the master The master checkbox is toggled Here is the relevant code $(".master-select").click(function(){ $(this).closest("table").find("tbody .row-select").prop('checked', this.checked); }); function tickAllCheckboxes() { var master = $(".master-select").click(); } //using jquery.hotkeys.js to assign hotkey $(document).bind('keydown', 'shift+x', tickAllCheckboxes); This results in the child checkboxes having the opposite checked state of the master checkbox.   • Problem Reading Value from a drop down list populated with AJAX

    Hi, I have a PHP page with two drop down lists. I am using AJAX to populate the second one according to the choice made of the first drop down list. My problem is that when i am posting both values of the two dropdownlists to another php page in which an INSERT query is being made, the value of the second dropdown list is blank (as if no value was selected from the second drop down list). Can you please take a look at this code and let me know what I am doing wrong?
