• How to shrink Windows 7 XP Mode VHD files?

  I'm trying to shrink a Windows 7 XP Mode VHD file with VhdResizer with little success. When I select my VHD file, it says "VhdExpand only supports fixed and dynamic VHD files". My XP Mode VHDs are dynamic files. Does anyone have any idea why it is failing? Failing that, does anyone have a process that I can use to shrink my XP mode VHD files on Windows 7 (64 bit)?

  Hi, I followed the steps in oracle documentation on creation of a physical standby database. The link to the configuration steps, http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28294/create_ps.htm#i63561 When I perform "Step 4 Verfiy that received redo has been applied." my query result is not as expected, following is the result, SQL SELECT SEQUENCE#,APPLIED FROM V$ARCHIVED_LOG ORDER BY SEQUENCE#; SEQUENCE# APP 5 NO 6 NO 7 NO 8 NO 4 rows selected. Appreciate any advice on how to proceed, thanks.

• Encyrpting a Macbook with Truecrypt (Snow Leopard + Bootcamp)

  I have a Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard and Windows 7 Pro (Bootcamp). I have encyrpted all the company computers with truecrypt and now its the Macbooks turn. Will Truecrypt only encrypt the Win 7 partition and will it disable Bootcamp, or would it install after Bootcamp, whereby after I select either the OS X or Windows partition under Bootcamp, the Truecrypt encryption for Win 7 would be activated?   Is there an image editor that allows you to select several crop regions and save each one as an individual file? Rather than having to load up the original image each time and do the cropping of each area and saving. This would be useful if you are using the master, original image for several new purposes, or if you are scanning in several separate items at once.

  Hi folks, I am (was) using an install of Win7 on the C Disk Partition, I formatted the D Disk Parition, and now Win7 fails to bootup. I suspect the bootup config files were stored within the D Partition, despite the install residing on the C Partition. This is the error I'm getting: Reboot and Select proper Boot device Any ideas on how I can fix this? :)

  Hi, I accidentally formatted my OEM drive of M DELL Inspiron. After that I could not install Windows 7 on my laptop. Because the partitions of my hard disk are not showing to select an install drive. I downloaded the RAID driver from the Dell Support website for my laptop, but the driver is showing and I loaded the driver from a pen drive. But it's still not showing the drives.

  I've been using Ubuntu on a desktop computer I have in my house and I'd like to try to install Windows 8 and replace the Ubuntu system. In the installation wizard of Windows 8 I get stuck in the point where I have to specify the HDD to install the OS to. The problem is that I cannot see any hard disk drive to select. • Is this a false positive by Avast?

  Avast keeps detecting the rootkit Win32:Evo-gen. I select to delete it, but when I restart the computer the message pops up again. The location is C:\Program Files(x86)\ASUS\AsusFanControlService\1.00.17\AsusFanControlService.exe this somewhat makes sense because I do have an Asus motherboard. Should I choose "ignore" and remember the selection or is it likely I do have a virus that is resisting deletion?

  Is it possible to view raw / complete email headers in Outlook 2010? In Outlook 2007 you could go to View Options, or right click on a message, then select Options, and "Internet Headers" could be viewed. However, in Outlook 2010 there is no "Options" in the context menu nor can I find it elsewhere. Has it been removed altogether or moved (hidden) someplace else? Thanks for any advise!

Under the Document Properties drop-down menu, select Advanced Properties. In the Custom tab, add properties as needed.   When I run VirtualBox (or other virtualisation software) it lets me select how many cores I like to allocate to a virtual machine. Since I have a dual core 2.66gHz Intel Core i7 with hyperthreading, would I be assigning "cores" in VirtualBox from the four threads that the i7 provides, or only from the two physical cores?   I want to rearrange rows with the mouse in Calc. In Excel, I select the whole row, then drag and drop it while holding Shift. This causes the drag and drop cursor to turn into a bar rather than cells, and the cells are inserted at the bar's position. Is there a way to accomplish the same sort of thing in Calc without going around the houses inserting columns before the drag operation?
