  • Remove innerHTML from div

    - by coffeeaddict
    I'm trying to clear the div's innerHTML before repopulating it. I tried removeData() but once that's called, when I try to add the data, I get nothing from the next line after remove whereas if I remove the removeData() it's fine again. I just want to clear out any previous content in that div before I re-populate it. divToUpdate.removeData(); //clean out any existing innerHTML div content first divToUpdate.html(data); It looks like it never gets to my divToUpdate.html(data) for some reason after it calls that removeData();

  • How can I use tinyscrolling plugin with fancybox?

    - by Noor
    I'm using the tinyscrolling plugin (the horizontal one), and I'm also using fancybox (the inline method) which is causing the fancybox to appear and the site to scroll to the box that is displayed. The fancybox appears as usual in the center and immediately the page scrolls to the right making the fancybox be on the left side of the page: |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| |....................| |?..................| |....................| |__________|

  • prevent _doPostBack getting rendered in button markup

    - by Christo Fur
    Hi Is it possible to prevent the _doPostBack() call getting rendered on a button? I would like add some custom logic prior to calling the postback. I have added an onClick event to the button e.g. <button id="manualSubmit" runat="server" class="manual-submit" onclick="$('#jeweller-form').hide();" /> However, this just gets rendered inline before the _doPostBack() But the postback gets fired before the jQueryHide takes place I would like to call my own JS function then manually trigger the postback any ideas?

  • javascript keypress function: case-insensitive a-z, numbers and a few special chars?

    - by user239831
    hey guys, $('.s').keyup(function(e) { if (!/[A-Za-z0-9]/.test(String.fromCharCode(e.which))) { return false; } I wonder what is the best regex solution for my application. I have an ajax-based search that should just trigger the search when actual characters are pressed like a-Z (upper and lowercase), numbers and maybe a questionmark, a dash(hyphen), and an exclamation mark. Also the spacebar should be enabled. Otherwise the ajax search would be triggered as well if the shift-, option, or control-key, is pressed. What's the easiest regex pattern to understand here? thank you for your help

  • Ruby array, javascript and json issue

    - by JohnMerlino
    Hey all, I am unable to get a highcharts plugin to render a chart in a rails application: http://github.com/loudpixel/highcharts-rails I believe it has something to do with the sql queries to the database placed in a ruby array, which the javascript is unable to intepret. This is what I have: def panels pass = Student.find_by_sql('SELECT COUNT(*) FROM students WHERE student_state = 1') fail = Student.find_by_sql('SELECT COUNT(*) FROM students WHERE student_state = 2') student_data = [ {:name => 'Pass', :y => pass}, {:name => 'Fail', :y => fail} ] pie_label_formatter = ' function() { if (this.y > 15) return this.point.name; }' pie_tooltip_formatter = ' function() { return "<strong>" + this.point.name + "</strong>: " + this.y + " %"; }' @pie_chart = Highchart.pie({ :chart => { :renderTo => "pie-chart-container", :margin => [50, 30, 0, 30] }, :plotOptions => { :pie => { :dataLabels => { :formatter => pie_label_formatter, :style => { :textShadow => '#000000 1px 1px 2px' } } } }, :series => [ { :type => 'pie', :data => student_data } ], :subtitle => { :text => 'April 2010' }, :title => { :text => 'Student Status Chart' }, :tooltip => { :formatter => pie_tooltip_formatter }, }) Note if I put this: :data = student_data.to_json It actually returns a json string of my query as text in the browser. Also, if I hard code values (e.g. :y = 1), it will render the chart properly. However, any database query will not render the chart properly. So I'm not sure exactly what the issue is. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • disallow selection inside an input element

    - by mkoryak
    I am looking to do the following Disallow text selection inside of an input element Do not show the cursor carrot inside of an input i cannot simply blur the input on click, focus must remain in the input. There is probably a way to do this in just IE, i would of course rather have a cross browser solution but ill settle for IE (or FF) only solution. Here is a demo page where you can see why i might need this functionality: http://programmingdrunk.com/current-projects/dropdownReplacement/ if you click on the dropdowns in the first row on page, you will see the carrot inside the dropdown which looks funny. (this wont happen in chrome, but will in FF or IE)

    $(document).ready(function() { $('#chekboxes a').click(function(e) { $('.visible').removeClass('visible').addClass('invisible'); var thediv = $(this).attr('href'); $(thediv).removeClass('invisible').addClass('visible'); }) }); This simple bit of jq works in FF and not in Chrome and Safari. Despite googling widely, I cannot tell whether there's a way to make it work in Safari and Chrome or not. Does anyone know a fix or what is wrong ? Thanks, Tom

  • Fancybox iframe says that my YouTube href is undefined

    - by user369732
    Here is my HTML: <a class="video iframe" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Psk2Pq03rv0">Arbitrary text</a> Here is the Fancybox javascript: $("a.video").fancybox({ 'padding' : 0, 'autoScale' : false, 'title' : this.title, 'overlayOpacity' : '.6', 'overlayColor' : '#333', 'transitionIn' : 'none', 'transitionOut' : 'none', 'centerOnScroll' : false, 'showCloseButton' : true, 'hideOnOverlayClick': false, 'href' : this.href.replace(new RegExp("watch\\?v=", "i"), "v/"), 'type' : 'swf', 'swf' : { 'wmode': 'transparent', 'allowfullscreen': 'true' } }); Firebug Console says: this.href is undefined 'href' : this.href.replace(new RegExp("watch\\?v=", "i"), 'v/'), As a result, clicking this link takes the user to YouTube and does not trigger Fancybox. Any advice?

  • Attaching events in JavaScript

    - by R0MANARMY
    As comment to one of the questions here a commenter wrote (emphasis mine): ... By using an inline "onclick" you are doing a similar thing, but it is harder to maintain and more prone to issues. The JavaScript community as a whole has been moving away from inline JavaScript for a while now. This was referring to attaching events to HTML elements using $("#someID").click(function(){ do something here...; }); rather than <a id="someID" onclick="someFunction();"> Has there really been a shift away from the old school way of declaring events inline, and if so, what are the benefits of one of the other?

  • Any difference between lazy loading Javascript files vs. placing just before </body>

    - by mhr
    Looked around, couldn't find this specific question discussed. Pretty sure the difference is negligible, just curious as to your thoughts. Scenario: All Javascript that doesn't need to be loaded before page render has been placed just before the closing </body> tag. Are there any benefits or detriments to lazy loading these instead through some Javascript code in the head that executes when the DOM load/ready event is fired? Let's say that this only concerns downloading one entire .js file full of functions and not lazy loading several individual files as needed upon usage. Hope that's clear, thanks.

  • Sending html data via $post fails

    - by Neil
    I am using the code below which is fine but when I use the code below that in an attempt to send an html fragment to a processing page to save it as a file but I get nothing. I have tried using ajax with processData set to false ads dataTypes of html, text and xml but nothing works. I can't find anything on this so I guess I must be missing something fairly trivial but I've been at it for 3 hours now. This works $.post("SaveFile.aspx", {f: "test4.htm", c: "This is a test"}, function(data){ alert(data); }, "text"); This fails $.post("SaveFile.aspx", {f: "test4.htm", c: "<h1>This is a test</h1>"}, function(data){ alert(data); }, "text");
