    Hey guys, I am trying to create a grid like system with div's with content floated left. The problem is that the height of each div is not static since the content is different in each one. Since the height is different.. things get outta whack if one is taller then another in one row. Is there some sort of css way or js (prefer javascript) way to get around this. I have an ajax-based search that should just trigger the search when actual characters are pressed like a-Z (upper and lowercase), numbers and maybe a questionmark, a dash(hyphen), and an exclamation mark. Also the spacebar should be enabled. Otherwise the ajax search would be triggered as well if the shift-, option, or control-key, is pressed. What's the easiest regex pattern to understand here? thank you for your help

  • Javascript Rich Display Component/Methodology

    quick back story-- I am working on ASP.Net based template editor that lets authors create text templates using Javascript inserted placeholder tags that will be filled in with dynamic text when the templates are used to display the final results. For example the author might create a template like The word [%12#add] was generated dynamically. The application would eventually replace the tag with a dynamic word down the road (though it's not specifically relevant to this post) The word foo was generated dynmamically. Depending on the circumstances, the template may be created in a text input, textarea or a modified version of the Ajax Control Toolkit HTML Editor. There might be 40 or more of these editable elements on the page, so using lots of stripped down or modified HTML editors would probably bog the page down too much. The problem is that the tags such as [%12#add] are displayed inline with the user text and the result is confusing and aesthetically gross. The goal is parse the contens of the source element and when a tags such as [%12#add] are encountered, display something prettier and less cryptic to the user such as a stylable element or image wherever tags such as [%12#add] occur. The application still needs the template text with the tags on postback. So the user might see The word tag placeholder was generated dynamically. but the original template would still be the value of the text input box The word [%12#add] was generated dynamically. It seems HTML editors like the ACT version and FckEditor accomplish this by rendering their output in an IFrame, but rather than kill myself trying to roll a lighter specialized version myself, I thought I'd ask if anyone knows of an existing free component or approach that has already tackled this. With good reason, I don't think S.O. allows HTML formatting, but the bold "tag placeholder" above would ideally be something like tag placeholder.

I suppose to do this I should just create a script that puts a cookie into the body of an iframe and then read the iframe contents on site two. But I can't.     I want to be able to play an alarm sound using Javascript in a browser window, preferably with the requirement for any browser plugins (Quicktime/Flash). I have been experimenting with the tag and the new Audio object in Javascript, but results are mixed: As you can see, there is no variant that works on all browsers. Do I miss a trick that is more cross-browser compatible?   • Multiple infowindows - tearing my hair out

    Ok, I'll admit I'm nowhere near the best programmer on the planet - and I'm used to the answer staring me right in the face but not making sense of it. Problem I need to display multiple markers on a map, each with their own infowindow. I have created the individual markers without a problem, but don't know how to create the infowindows for each. Steps so far I am generating a map using the V3 API within an ASP-based website, with markers being created from a set of DB records. The markers are created by looping through a rs and defining a marker() with the relevant variables: var myLatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(lat,long); var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ map: map, position: myLatlng, title: 'locationname', icon: 'http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/files/park.png' }); This is creating all the relevant markers in their correct locations. What I need to do now, and am not sure of how to achieve is give each of them their own unique infowindow which I can use to display information and links relevant to that marker.   • Why don't this toggle animation execute in all browsers

    Hey guys This file isn't executing in any browser other than firefox on mac. Added everything i can think to get it sorted. http://samhorner.co.uk/dev/samhorner/ Clicking on the twitter bar should close it, then open it again when you click on it again, only one click works on the other browsers. (change dot color if there is something in buy action).   • Assigning values to variable WHILE loop

    Hi! I have a WHILE loop that loops through a table as long as $i is less than 10. I want this loop to assign the INNERHTML of each cell to a variable. So that I can use it later on to process the information (the loop is because you can choose if it has to take first 3 or first 10 cells). But how do I assign every innerHTML to a different variable? However, the validation plugin does not appear to work on a field using the tokeninput. Does anyone have an answer?   • clearTimeout not working in javascript autocomplete script

I have to move to another month (and then back to the current month), before the dates I added are displayed.   • Is the javaScript not part of the DOM?

    Why is it that scripts can still function even after the code used to create them is removed from the DOM? I ran into a situation where I wanted to prevent a broken script from running (@see my post). In my attempt to come up with a solution I wrote an extension with the following line (just to see what would happen). //doc is passed here because this script is running as a firefox extension outside //of the document context. $('script', doc).remove(); I assumed that this would remove all the scripts from the DOM, which it did, and that therefore no scripts would run on the page, which is not the case. I would love to know more about what's behind this behavior.
