• Canceling a WSK I/O operation when driver is unloading

  I've been learning how to write drivers with the Windows DDK recently. After creating a few test drivers experimenting with system threads and synchronization, I decided to step it up a notch and write a driver that actually does something, albeit something useless. Currently, my driver connects to my other computer using Winsock Kernel and just loops and echoes back whatever I send to it until it gets the command "exit", which causes it to break out of the loop. In my loop, after I call WskReceive() to get some data from the other computer, I use KeWaitForMultipleObjects() to wait for either of two SynchronizationEvents. BlockEvent gets set by my IRP's CompletionRoutine() to let my thread know that it's received some data from the socket. EndEvent gets set by my DriverUnload() routine to tell the thread that it's being unloaded and it needs to terminate. When I send the "exit" command, the thread terminates with no problems, and I can safely unload the driver afterward. If I try to stop the driver while it's still waiting on data from the other computer, however, it blue screens with the error DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS. After I get the EndEvent but before I exit the loop, I've tried canceling the IRP with IoCancelIrp() and completing it with IoCompleteRequest(), but both of those give me DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors. I then tried calling WskDisconnect(), hoping that would cause the receive operation to complete, but that took me back to the CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS error. How do I cancel my pending I/O operation from my WSK socket at the IRQL I'm running at when the driver is unloaded?

• Hiding/blocking tabs using windows forms in c#

I can't think of any more details, I will be around to provide any extra information Thanks in advance.

• Mysql and PHP - Reading multiple insert queries from a file and executing at runtime

  Hi everyone... I am trying out a back-up and restore system. Basically, what i try to do is, when creating the back up i make a file which looks like DELETE FROM bank_account; INSERT INTO bank_account VALUES('1', 'IB6872', 'Indian Bank', 'Indian Bank', '2', '1', '0', '0000-00-00 00:00:00', '1', '2010-04-13 17:09:05');INSERT INTO bank_account VALUES('2', 'IB7391', 'Indian Bank', 'Indian Bank', '3', '1', '0', '0000-00-00 00:00:00', '1', '2010-04-13 17:09:32'); and so on and so forth. When i restore the db i just read the query from the file, save it to a string and then execute it over the DB using mysql_query(); The problem is, when i run the query through mysql_query(), the execution stops after the delete query with the error 'Error in syntax near '; INSERT INTO bank_account VALUES('1', 'IB6872', 'Indian Bank', 'Indian Bank', '2',' at line 1. But when i run the queries directly over the Db, using phpmyadmin it executes without any errors. As far as i can see, i can't notice any syntax error in the query. Can anyone point out where there might be a glitch...? Thanks and regards....

• Populating dropdownlist in asp.net mvc doesn't seem to work for me...

• How can I run an app's source code that I got from the Android source code?

  For all of you android devs out there that have the Android simulator running on your comp, you know that there are a few built in apps that are already 'installed' on your phone. I had an idea for an app that would utilize a function that is already being done in the spare parts app. I went on to the android developer site, dug through the source code files, and found the spare parts app, and am now trying to set it up so that running it from eclipse on my machine actually runs the app in the simulator. In other words, I want to be able to make changes to and adjust some of the things in that app for my own needs. But it won't compile, because of a number of different errors. How do I get that source code running on my local machine? Is there some special trick that I just dont know about? I thought that if I could get the source code than the rest would be easy, but it isn't being too easy. Any help here would be appreciated!!

• Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon. CentOS 5

  I ran into troubles with MySQL on my CentOS. I had some problems and backed up my database and removed mysql with all dependencies. After that I ran reinstalled: yum groupinstall "MySQL Database" Installed without errors. Running the mysql daemon: service mysqld start Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon. • [JAX-B] How can I ignore a superclass?

  I'm trying to write a web service for the java.util.logging api. So I wrote a class MyLogRecord that inherits from LogRecord. I annotated this class with JAX-B annotations, including @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.NONE) so it would ignore non-annotated fields and properties. When I start up tomcat, I get errors that java.util.logging.Level and other java.util.logging classes do not have a default constructor, but none of my annotated methods make any reference to the Level class or any of the other java.util.logging classes. These are referenced by the parent class. My sub-class has everything it needs defined. How can I get JAX-B to ignore the parent class completely? Update: I found another post on this, which suggests modifying the parent class. This is obviously not possible because I am extending a java.util class. IS there any way to do this without modifying the superclass? Update2: I found a thread on java.net for a similar problem. That thread resulted in an enhancement request, which was marked as a duplicate of another issue, which resulted in the @XmlTransient annotation. The comments on these bug reports lead me to believe this is impossible in the current spec.

• Why does resolveBinding() return null even though I setResolveBindings(true) on my ASTParser?

  I am writing an Eclipse plug-in that uses JDT AST's ASTParser to parse a method. I am looking within that method for the creation of a particular type of object. When I find a ClassInstanceCreation, I call getType() on it to see what type is being instantiated. I want to be sure that the fully-resolved type being dealt with there is the one I think it is, so I tell the resultant Type object to resolveBinding(). I get null back even though there are no compilation errors and even though I called setResolveBindings(true) on my ASTParser. • php import to mysql hosted on godaddy

  Yeah, I know! It's not my choice. I am doing a large data import using a PHP script into a mysql DB hosted on godaddy. It seems their mysql connection gets killed every few hours regardless of what work it's doing. Their tech support is useless, and I've exhausted myself writing attempted workarounds. Right now, I'm trying to do a mysql_ping every few minutes, and if the ping returns false, I attempt to open up a new db connection. My script (which takes many hours to complete), keeps failing with the very unhelpful message of "mysql server has gone away". I understand mysql trying to close a connection that's been open too long, but the connection is not idle-- it's busy basically the whole time, and with the pings I've written in, it should not be idle longer than 5 minutes at most at any time. (These same scripts work with no errors on Amazon AWS servers, my local servers, etc.) Any help most appreciated! I'm about to give up.

• Head Rotation in Opposite Direction with GLM and Oculus Rift SDK

  I am 90% there in getting orientation to work. I am just trying to resolve one last bit and I hope someone can point me to any easy errors I am making but not seeing. My code works except when a person looks left the camera actually rotates right. Vice versa with looking right, camera rotates left. Any idea what I am doing wrong here? • JavaME - LWUIT images eat up all the memory

  Hi, I'm writing a MIDlet using LWUIT and images seem to eat up incredible amounts of memory. All the images I use are PNGs and are packed inside the JAR file. I load them using the standard Image.createImage(URL) method. The application has a number of forms and each has a couple of labels an buttons, however I am fairly certain that only the active form is kept in memory (I know it isn't very trustworthy, but Runtime.freeMemory() seems to confirm this). The application has worked well in 240x320 resolution, but moving it to 480x640 and using appropriately larger images for UI started causing out of memory errors to show up. What the application does, among other things, is download remote images. The application seems to work fine until it gets to this point. After downloading a couple of PNGs and returning to the main menu, the out of memory error is encountered. Naturally, I looked into the amount of memory the main menu uses and it was pretty shocking. It's just two labels with images and four buttons. Each button has three images used for style.setIcon, setPressedIcon and setRolloverIcon. Images range in size from 15 to 25KB but removing two of the three images used for every button (so 8 images in total), Runtime.freeMemory() showed a stunning 1MB decrease in memory usage. The way I see it, I either have a whole lot of memory leaks (which I don't think I do, but memory leaks aren't exactly known to be easily tracked down), I am doing something terribly wrong with image handling or there's really no problem involved and I just need to scale down. If anyone has any insight to offer, I would greatly appreciate it.

• How to create an array of buttons in C++

  Hi, I'm using C++ in VS2005 and have an 8x8 grid of buttons on a form. I want to have these buttons in an array, so when I click on any of them it will open the same event handler (I think that is what they are called), but I will know the index of which one was clicked on. I know how to do this in VB and C#, but I can't seem to figure it out with C++ Right now I have all my buttons labelled by their location, i.e. b00, b10, b21, etc. So I think what I am looking for is a way to do something like this: Button b[8][8]; //this causes me errors (error C2728: 'System::Windows::Forms::Button' : a native array cannot contain this managed type) and (error C2227: left of '->{ctor}' must point to class/struct/union/generic type) void Assignment(){ b[0][0] = b00; b[1][0] = b10; ... } and then in form1.h: private: System::Void b_Click(System::Object^ sender, System::EventArgs^ e) { //somehow read the coordinates into variables x and y //do something based on these values } Any help would be appreciated. • Strange FileNotFoundException occuring on production server in console application

  Hi I have an application that works fine in my dev enviroment, but throws weird errors in the production enviroment, I checked the version of .net on my dev machine aswell as the production server , they both run 3.5.30729.01. Any clue?

• PHP Notice: Undefined property: stdClass:

  I've got an array coming back from a Flash app created in Flash Builder 4. I have a service setup that queries and brings data back from the DB successfully, however the Update script is generating the Undefined Property errors. I'm still learning both PHP and Flash Builder, and don't fully understand what the $this- commands do. If anyone can suggest where this script is going wrong, it is basically just generated by Flash Builder and is not something I've developed myself, I would appreciate it? Also if someone can explain $this- to me that would be awesome too? I've seen them before, but then I've seen scripts doing the same thing that do not use them, so is this an old way of doing things?   So I think I am almost there conceptually but need some missing pointers. Objective is to add a few more fields to the normal user registration form, style it a little, then submit it with storing the extra fields in a table. This is what I have so far. • Checking for nil in view in Ruby on Rails

  I've been working with Rails for a while now and one thing I find myself constantly doing is checking to see if some attribute or object is nil in my view code before I display it. I'm starting to wonder if this is always the best idea. My rationale so far has been that since my application(s) rely on user input unexpected things can occur. If I've learned one thing from programming in general it's that users inputting things the programmer didn't think of is one of the biggest sources of run-time errors. By checking for nil values I'm hoping to sidestep that and have my views gracefully handle the problem. The thing is though I typically for various reasons have similar nil or invalid value checks in either my model or controller code. I wouldn't call it code duplication in the strictest sense, but it just doesn't seem very DRY. If I've already checked for nil objects in my controller is it okay if my view just assumes the object truly isn't nil? For attributes that can be nil that are displayed it makes sense to me to check every time, but for the objects themselves I'm not sure what is the best practice. • Testing ActionFilterAttributes with MSpec

  I'm currently trying to grasp MSpec, mainly to learn new ways of (T/B)DD to be able to make an educated decision on which technology to use. Previously, I've mostly (read: only) used the built-in MSTest framework with Moq, so BDD is quite new for me. I'm writing an ASP.NET MVC app, and I want to implement PRG. Last time I did this, I used action filters to export and import ModelState via TempData, so that I could return a RedirectResult and the validation errors would still be there when the user got the view. I tested that scenario by verifying two things: a) That the ExportModelStateAttribute I had written was applied (among tests for my controller) b) That the attribute worked (among tests for action filter attributes) However, in BDD I've understood I should be even more concerned with behavior, and even less with implementation. This means I should probably just verify that the model state is in tempdata when the action has finished executing - not necessarily that it's done via an attribute. To further complicate things, attributes are not run when calling the action directly in the test, so I can't just call the action and see if the job's been done. How should I spec/test this in MSpec?

  How can I retrie infromation from delete rows. I delete some rows from table in dataset, then I use method GetChanges(DataRowState.Deleted) to get deleted rows. I try delete rows in original table on server side, but it finished with this errors. System.Data.DeletedRowInaccessibleException: Deleted row information cannot be accessed through the row. • how to make war file take up less memory

  I need help on how to decrease the memory usage of my web app. so I can fit more into my webserver. so I'm building a java web app with JSF 2.0 developing in eclipse helios and running on an Apache tomcat Server. And I have a dedicated virtual server with a tomcat aswell where I deploy these war files. the webApp is about 35MB in size ( it has a lot of jars and such) but when I deploy it to my tomcat webserver, I can see it takes about 300MB of RAM, is this normal? my dedicated server only has 2GB of ram from which normally have 1 to use. so I as soon as I deploy 3 apps I get an OOM error, I've gotten permgen OOM and a out of swamp Memory error; to fix this I upped my MaxPermGen to about a gig and resytarted the server to get back some swamp space. so I tried deploying smaller older apps ( about 15MB) and they take up waay less memory. If I have 1 GB of ram I want to be able to fit more apps into my webserver without getting any OOM Errors. now I found this stack overflow Question, Can that be applied to my case? and if so, which are the common folders in the tomcat server? anyone done this before or have a different more effective, not so complicated approach? Any ideas, and or commets are more than appreciated. Thanks! Myy
