  • Click event keeps firing

    - by Ben Shelock
    I have absolutely no idea why this is happening but the following code seems to be executed a huge ammount of times in all browsers. $('#save_albums').click(function(){ for(var i = 1; i <= 5; i++){ html = $('#your_albums ol li').eq(i).html(); alert(html); } }); Looks fairly innocent to me... Here's the code in it's entirety $(function(){ $('#query').keyup(function(){ var text = encodeURI($(this).val()); if(text.length > 3){ $('#results').load('search.php?album='+text, function(){ $('.album').hover(function(){ $(this).css('outline', '1px solid black') },function(){ $(this).css('outline', 'none') }); $('.album').click(function(){ $('#fores').remove(); $('#yours').show(); if($('#your_albums ol li').length <= 4){ albumInfo = '<li><div class="album">' + $(this).html() + '</div></li>'; if($('#your_albums ol li').length >= 1){ $('#your_albums ol li').last().after(albumInfo); } else{ $('#your_albums ol').html(albumInfo); } } else{ alert('No more than 5 please'); } }); $('#clear_albums').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault; $('#your_albums ol li').remove(); }); $('#save_albums').click(function(){ for(var i = 1; i <= 5; i++){ html = $('#your_albums ol li').eq(i).html(); alert(html); } }); }); } else{ $('#results').text('Query must be more than 3 characters'); } }); });

  • Problems with QDialog in Qt

    - by Martin
    I'm using Qt for Symbian. I have some problems with a QDialog that I open from a QMenu. The QDialog shows up fine and in the QDialog I have a QDialogButtonBox with a button to Close the QDialog. BUT if I close the QDialog and then open it from the QMenu again, it will show up but the button from the QDialogButtonBox will not show up. Instead the buttons from the QMainWindow will show but they are grayed out. How can I get the QDialog buttons to show every time? Maybe I have some problems with setting focus on the QDialog? I really can't see what I'm doing wrong here. It's not much code that I use, you can try it yourself. This is my code: In QMainWindow I use the following to create the menu: QAction *menuButton = new QAction("Menu", this); menuButton->setSoftKeyRole(QAction::PositiveSoftKey); QMenu *menu = new QMenu(this); menuButton->setMenu(menu); QAction *popup = new QAction("Show popup",this); connect(popup, SIGNAL(triggered()), this, SLOT(showPopup())); menu->addAction(popup); addAction(menuButton); This shows the QDialog: void MyMainWindow::showPopup(){ TestDialog *test = new TestDialog(this); test->setAttribute(Qt::WA_DeleteOnClose); test->show(); } This is the TestDialog: TestDialog::TestDialog(QWidget *parent) : QDialog(parent) { ui.setupUi(this); QDesktopWidget* desktopWidget = QApplication::desktop(); QRect rect = desktopWidget->availableGeometry(); this->setFixedWidth(rect.width()); }

  • Is there a J2SE sensor API?

    - by Martin Strandbygaard
    Does anyone know of a "standardized" Java API for working with sensors, and which is closely tied to J2ME as is the case with JSR 256? I'm writing a Java library for interfacing with a sensor network consisting of several different types of sensors (mostly simple stuff such as temperature, humidity, GPS, etc.). So far I've rolled my own interface, and users have to write apps against this. I would like to change this approach and implement a "standard" API so that implementations aren't that closely tied to my library. I've looked at JSR 256, but that really isn't a great solution as it's for J2ME, and my library is mostly used by Android devices or laptops running the full J2SE.

  • what is this internet explorer (javascript?) syntax error -2146827286?

    - by ben
    Hi everyone, So, I've been trying to troubleshoot this bug where some big percentage of windows users who are on my ajax (jquery) web app are not able to play. I haven't been able to reproduce it on my end with a windows 7 IE8 running in a parallels vm. The main problem seems to be in the javascript somewhere because what users are complaining about is an ajax button isn't working. They click it and nothing happens, so either the event isn't firing, or my ajax call is failing, and possibly the return from the ajax could be failing. After trying some ideas, a friend suggested I check out damnit! https://damnit.jupiterit.com/ which will catch exceptions in javascript and email them to you. This is a pretty awesome tool! So, now i have a little more data, but, am stuck. Basically it seems like the majority of the exceptions seem to be complaining about a syntax error. I will paste the samples below. message: Syntax error number: -2146827286 description: Syntax error Browser: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; InfoPath.2; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; OfficeLiveConnector.1.3; OfficeLivePatch.0.0) What's interesting is that the syntax error is consistently occurring in browsers reporting MSIE 8.0 but with windows vista, xp, and below, so older OS with the latest IE. Does anyone know of this error? Could this possibly be some weird slow computer/slow internet connection thing where may be my javascript files aren't fully loaded before I call the functions. I am using the jquery $(document).ready() to wait before I setup anything.

  • bundle .NET dlls to run application in .NET-less machine?

    - by Camilo Martin
    AFAIK, ngen turns MSIL into native code (also reffered to as pre-JIT), however I never payed too much attention at it's startup performance impact. Ngen'd applications still require the .NET base class libraries (the runtime). Since the base class libraries have everything our .NET assemblies need (correct?) would it be possible to ship the framework's DLLs with my ngen'd application so that it does not require the runtime to be installed? (e.g., the scenario for most Windows XP machines) Oh, and please don't bother mentioning Remotesoft's Salamander Linker or Xenocode's Postbuild. They are not for my (and many's) current budget (and they seem to simply bundle the framework in a virtualized enviroinment, which means big download sizes and slow startup times I believe) EDIT: I know now, ngen doesn't do what I thought it did. But is it possible to bundle the .NET files with an application, without using a VM?

  • How to test PHP in MySQL Strict

    - by Ben Sinclair
    I had a client who had MySQL Strict which brought up a few errors in my MySQL code... I didn't even know there was a MySQL Strict. I've fixed up a lot of the issues but I want to run some further tests on my local server. How do I enable MySQL Strict for testing purposes and then disable it when I no longer want it?

  • Custom view with nib as subview doesn't seem to be loading

    - by Ben Collins
    I've created a custom view that loads its content from a nib, like this: /* PricingDataView.h */ #import <UIKit/UIKIt.h> @interface PricingDataView : UIView { UIView *contentView; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIView *contentView; @end /* PricingDataView.m */ #import "PricingDataView.h" @implementation PricingDataView @synthesize contentView; - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if ((self = [super initWithFrame:frame])) { [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"PricingDataView" owner:self options:nil]; [contentView setFrame:frame]; [self addSubview:contentView]; } return self; } /* ... */ In the nib file I set PricingDataView as the type of the File's Owner, and connected the contentView outlet in IB. I placed a regular UIView from the Interface Library onto the full-sized view shown to the user, and then changed it's class name to PricingDataView. It all builds, but at runtime, nothing is rendered where my custom view is supposed to be. I put breakpoints in PricingDataView.initWithFrame, but they don't hit, so I know I'm missing something that would cause the view to be initialized. What I'm curious about is that int the process of loading my other views from nibs, all the initialization happens for me, but not with this one. Why?

  • Create Django formset wihtout multiple queries

    - by Martin
    I need to display multiple forms (up to 10) of a model on a page. This is the code I use for to accomplish this. TheFormSet = formset_factory(SomeForm, extra=10) ... formset = TheFormSet(prefix='party') return render_to_response('template.html', { 'formset' : formset, }) The problem is, that it seems to me that Django queries the database for each of the forms in the formset, even though the data displayed in them is the same. Is this the way Formsets work or am I doing something wrong? Is there a way around it inside django or would I have to use JavaScript for a workaround?

  • working with generic lifetime managers in unity config section

    - by Martin Bailey
    I have the following generic lifetime manager public class RequestLifetimeManager<T> : LifetimeManager, IDisposable { public override object GetValue() { return HttpContext.Current.Items[typeof(T).AssemblyQualifiedName]; } public override void RemoveValue() { HttpContext.Current.Items.Remove(typeof(T).AssemblyQualifiedName); } public override void SetValue(object newValue) { HttpContext.Current.Items[typeof(T).AssemblyQualifiedName] = newValue; } public void Dispose() { RemoveValue(); } } How do I reference this in the unity config section. Creating a type alias <typeAlias alias="requestLifeTimeManager`1" type=" UI.Common.Unity.RequestLifetimeManager`1, UI.Common" /> and specifying it as a lifetime manager <types> <type type="[interface]" mapTo="[concretetype]" > <lifetime type="requestLifeTimeManager`1" /> </type> </types> causes the following error Cannot create an instance of UI.Common.Unity.RequestLifetimeManager`1[T] because Type.ContainsGenericParameters is true. How do you reference generic lifetime managers ?

  • PHP script works fine until I send a parameter from HTTPService in Flash Builder 4?

    - by ben
    I'm using a PHP script to read an RSS feed in my Flex 4 app. The script works when I put the url of the feed in the actual script, but I can't get it to work when I try to send the URL as a parameter from a HTTPService in Flex. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Here is the HTTPService from Flex 4 that I'm using: <mx:HTTPService url="http://talk.6te.net/proxy.php" id="proxyService" method="POST" result="rssResult()" fault="rssFault()"> <mx:request> <url> http://feeds.feedburner.com/nah_right </url> </mx:request> </mx:HTTPService> This is the script that works: <?php $ch = curl_init(); $timeout = 30; $userAgent = $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']; curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "http://feeds.feedburner.com/nah_right"); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, $timeout); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, $userAgent); $response = curl_exec($ch); if (curl_errno($ch)) { echo curl_error($ch); } else { curl_close($ch); echo $response; } ?> But this is what I actually want to use, but it doesn't work: <?php $ch = curl_init(); $timeout = 30; $userAgent = $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']; curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $_REQUEST['url']); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, $timeout); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, $userAgent); $response = curl_exec($ch); if (curl_errno($ch)) { echo curl_error($ch); } else { curl_close($ch); echo $response; } ?> Here is the request and response output of the HTTPService from the network monitor in Flash Builder 4 (using the PHP script that doesn't work): Request: POST /proxy.php HTTP/1.1 Host: talk.6te.net User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8 Accept-Language: en-us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive: 115 Content-type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded Content-length: 97 url=%0A%09%09%09%09%09http%3A%2F%2Ffeeds%2Efeedburner%2Ecom%2Fnah%5Fright%0A%20%20%20%20%09%09%09 Response: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Mon, 10 May 2010 03:23:27 GMT Server: Apache X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.13 Content-Length: 15 Content-Type: text/html <url> malformed I've tried putting the URL in " " in the HTTPService, but that didn't do anything.   • parsing HTML on the iPhone

    Can anyone recommend a C or Objective-C library for HTML parsing? It needs to handle messy HTML code that won't quite validate. Does such a library exist, or am I better off just trying to use regular expressions?

My question is: If the user wasn't logged in successfuly is there a simple way how can I add an error message to my login form? Do I have to write my own validator?

  • Tracking graphics tablet input in C#

    - by Martin
    I'm writing an XNA application with C#, and I want to be able to control the application with a graphics tablet. All I need to be able to do is track the position and pressure of the pen on the tablet, it would be nice to have some built in gesture recognition but I'm willing to build that myself if needed. My first attempt at this was to use the vbtablet library. However, when I sent this to a friend it failed to work. It seems that the underlying technology is quite old and not supported by some tablets. My second attempt is to play with the Microsoft.Ink system. This looks promising, but I know very little about this subject and I'm struggling to make it work properly - for example I can't find how to read the raw tablet input and disable mouse pointer mode on the tablet when using an InkOverlay. What's the best system to use and what good documentation is there for a beginner in this field?

  • NSUserDefaults not present on first run on simulator

    - by Ben Collins
    I've got some settings saved in my Settings.bundle, and I try to use them in application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions, but on a first run on the simulator accessing objects by key always returns nil (or 0 in the case of ints). Once I go to the settings screen and then exit, they work fine for every run thereafter. What's going on? Isn't the point of using default values in the Settings.bundle to be able to use them without requiring the user to enter them first?

  • XmlDocument from LINQ to XML query

    - by Ben
    I am loading an XML document into an XDocument object, doing a query and then returning the data through a web service as an XmlDocument object. The code below works fine, but it just seems a bit smelly. Is there a cleaner way to take the results of the query and convert back to an XDocument or XmlDocument? XDocument xd = XDocument.Load(Server.MapPath(accountsXml)); var accounts = from x in xd.Descendants("AccountsData") where userAccounts.Contains(x.Element("ACCOUNT_REFERENCE").Value) select x; XDocument xd2 = new XDocument( new XDeclaration("1.0", "UTF-8", "yes"), new XElement("Accounts") ); foreach (var account in accounts) xd2.Element("Accounts").Add(account); return xd2.ToXmlDocument();

  • Java bitshift strangeness

    - by Martin
    Java has 2 bitshift operators for right shifts: >> shifts right, and is dependant on the sign bit for the sign of the result >>> shifts right and shifts a zero into leftmost bits http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/nutsandbolts/op3.html This seems fairly simple, so can anyone explain to me why this code, when given a value of -128 for bar, produces a value of -2 for foo: byte foo = (byte)((bar & ((byte)-64)) >>> 6); What this is meant to do is take an 8bit byte, mask of the leftmost 2 bits, and shift them into the rightmost 2 bits. Ie: initial = 0b10000000 (-128) -64 = 0b11000000 initial & -64 = 0b10000000 0b10000000 >>> 6 = 0b00000010 The result actually is -2, which is 0b11111110 Ie. 1s rather than zeros are shifted into left positions

  • How do I set the ItemsSource of a DataGrid in XAML?

    - by Ben McCormack
    I'm trying to set the ItemsSource property of a DataGrid named dgIssueSummary to be an ObservableCollection named IssueSummaryList. Currently, everything is working when I set the ItemsSource property in my code-behind: public partial class MainPage : UserControl { private ObservableCollection<IssueSummary> IssueSummaryList = new ObservableCollection<IssueSummary> public MainPage() { InitializeComponent(); dgIssueSummary.ItemsSource = IssueSummaryList } } However, I'd rather set the ItemsSource property in XAML, but I can't get it to work. Here's the XAML code I have: <sdk:DataGrid x:Name="dgIssueSummary" AutoGenerateColumns="False" ItemsSource="{Binding IssueSummaryList}" > <sdk:DataGrid.Columns> <sdk:DataGridTextColumn Binding="{Binding ProblemType}" Header="Problem Type"/> <sdk:DataGridTextColumn Binding="{Binding Count}" Header="Count"/> </sdk:DataGrid.Columns> </sdk:DataGrid> What do I need to do to set the ItemsSource property to be the IssueSummaryList in XAML rather than C#?

  • node.js / socket.io, cookies only working locally

    - by Ben Griffiths
    I'm trying to use cookie based sessions, however it'll only work on the local machine, not over the network. If I remove the session related stuff, it will however work just great over the network... You'll have to forgive the lack of quality code here, I'm just starting out with node/socket etc etc, and finding any clear guides is tough going, so I'm in n00b territory right now. Basically this is so far hacked together from various snippets with about 10% understanding of what I'm actually doing... The error I see in Chrome is: socket.io.js:1632GET http://192.168.0.6:8080/socket.io/1/?t=1334431940273 500 (Internal Server Error) Socket.handshake ------- socket.io.js:1632 Socket.connect ------- socket.io.js:1671 Socket ------- socket.io.js:1530 io.connect ------- socket.io.js:91 (anonymous function) ------- /socket-test/:9 jQuery.extend.ready ------- jquery.js:438 And in the console for the server I see: debug - served static content /socket.io.js debug - authorized warn - handshake error No cookie My server is: var express = require('express') , app = express.createServer() , io = require('socket.io').listen(app) , connect = require('express/node_modules/connect') , parseCookie = connect.utils.parseCookie , RedisStore = require('connect-redis')(express) , sessionStore = new RedisStore(); app.listen(8080, '192.168.0.6'); app.configure(function() { app.use(express.cookieParser()); app.use(express.session( { secret: 'YOURSOOPERSEKRITKEY', store: sessionStore })); }); io.configure(function() { io.set('authorization', function(data, callback) { if(data.headers.cookie) { var cookie = parseCookie(data.headers.cookie); sessionStore.get(cookie['connect.sid'], function(err, session) { if(err || !session) { callback('Error', false); } else { data.session = session; callback(null, true); } }); } else { callback('No cookie', false); } }); }); var users_count = 0; io.sockets.on('connection', function (socket) { console.log('New Connection'); var session = socket.handshake.session; ++users_count; io.sockets.emit('users_count', users_count); socket.on('something', function(data) { io.sockets.emit('doing_something', data['data']); }); socket.on('disconnect', function() { --users_count; io.sockets.emit('users_count', users_count); }); }); My page JS is: jQuery(function($){ var socket = io.connect('http://192.168.0.6', { port: 8080 } ); socket.on('users_count', function(data) { $('#client_count').text(data); }); socket.on('doing_something', function(data) { if(data == '') { window.setTimeout(function() { $('#target').text(data); }, 3000); } else { $('#target').text(data); } }); $('#textbox').keydown(function() { socket.emit('something', { data: 'typing' }); }); $('#textbox').keyup(function() { socket.emit('something', { data: '' }); }); });
