    hi, in my application i am using datalist to display the images, i put properties of repeatcolumn=4 and reapeatdirection=horizontal.   • Problem in filtering records using Dataview (C#3.0)

    I have a data table . The data table is basically getting populated from excel sheet. And there are many excel sheets. Henceforth, I have written a utility method for accomplishing the same. Now in some of the excel sheets, there are date columns and in some it is not(only text/string). My function is populating the values properly into the datatable from the excell sheet. But there are many blank rows in the excel sheets some are filled with NULL , some with " ". So I need to filter those records (which are NULL or " " ) first before further processing. What I am after is to use a dataview and apply the filter over there. DataView dv = dataTable.DefaultView; dv.RowFilter = ColumnName + " <> ''"; Well by using metedata (GetOleDbSchemaTable(OleDbSchemaGuid.Columns, restrection)) I was able to get the column names from the excel sheet , so getting the column names is not an issue. But the problem is as I said in some Excel sheet there are date fileds some are not. So the Filter condition of the Dataview needs to be proper. If I apply the above logic, and if it encounters a Datafield, it is throwing error Cannot perform '<' operation on System.DateTime and System.String. Could you people please help me out? I need to filter columns(not known at compile time + their data types) which can have NULL and " " I am using C#3.0 Thanks

  • Can I clone an IQueryable in linq? For UNION purposes?

    I have a table of WorkOrders. The table has a PrimaryWorker & PrimaryPay field. It also has a SecondaryWorker & SecondaryPay field (which can be null). I wish to run 2 very similar queries & union them so that it will return a Worker Field & Pay field. So if a single WorkOrder record had both the PrimaryWorker and SecondaryWorker field populated I would get 2 records back. The "where clause" part of these 2 queries is very similar and long to construct. Here's a dummy example var q = ctx.WorkOrder.Where(w => w.WorkDate >= StartDt && w.WorkDate <= EndDt); if(showApprovedOnly) { q = q.Where(w => w.IsApproved); } //...more filters applied Now I also have a search flag called "hideZeroPay". If that's true I don't want to include the record if the worker was payed $0. But obviously for 1 query I need to compare the PrimaryPay field and in the other I need to compare the SecondaryPay field. So I'm wondering how to do this. Can I clone my base query "q" and make a primary & secondary worker query out of it and then union those 2 queries together? I'd greatly appreciate an example of how to correctly handle this.   • A bit confused about OOP and PHP.

    Hello I have programmed with procedural style a lot before and in these few months I have decided to go OOP. Im a bit confused about OOP and PHP. Lets say I have Categories table and Pages table in my database. I would like to do a page-class and a category-class. Lets say I would have a page that showed information about the category and there would be a list of pages that belong to the category. How would I implement that in OOP way? I have thought that the category class would have a property (array) that would contain all the pages that it has. Well then comes the part that I`m confused about. Should I have a method that would get all the pages with correct categoryID from the database and should I instantiate all the rows as an Page-object? Or should I have a setPages-method in the Category-class and getAllPages-method in the Pages-class and with that method I would set all the pages to the Category-class. Huh Im lost. :D

    Whoever answers this question can claim credit for solving the world's most challenging SQL query, according to yours truly. Working with 3 tables: users, badges, awards. Relationships: user has many awards; award belongs to user; badge has many awards; award belongs to badge. So badge_id and user_id are foreign keys in the awards table. The business logic at work here is that every time a user wins a badge, he/she receives it as an award. A user can be awarded the same badge multiple times. Each badge is assigned a designated point value (point_value is a field in the badges table). For example, BadgeA can be worth 500 Points, BadgeB 1000 Points, and so on. As further example, let's say UserX won BadgeA 10 times and BadgeB 5 times. BadgeA being worth 500 Points, and BadgeB being worth 1000 Points, UserX has accumulated a total of 10,000 Points ((10 x 500) + (5 x 1000)). The end game here is to return a list of top 50 users who have accumulated the most badge points. Can you do it?

    I asked a question a couple days ago about creating INSERTs by running a SELECT to move data to another server. That worked great until I ran into a table that has full on HTML and apostrophes in it. What's the best way to deal with this? Lucking there aren't too many rows so it is feasible as a last resort to 'copy and paste'. But, eventually I will need to do this and the table by that time will probably be way too big to copy and paste these HTML fields. The project I work in, however, uses the Criteria API instead of raw SQL, and I haven't found a way to express the same query in that form. I've taken a look on the Restrictions API and the closest I've found is Restions.in(propertyName, collection) but that works the other way around (one value in object, many values to match against). Any ideas?

The problem i'm having is that these updates are not persistent in the database. I mean that when i query my database (visual studio server explorer - new query) i see the table is empty, every time. I am using a SQL Server database file (.mdf).

  • Rails - eager load the number of associated records, but not the record themselves.

    I have a page that's taking ages to render out. Half of the time (3 seconds) is spent on a .find call which has a bunch of eager-loaded associations. All i actually need is the number of associated records in each case, to display in a table: i don't need the actual records themselves. Is there a way to just eager load the count? Here's a simplified example: @subjects = Subject.find(:all, :include => [:questions]) In my table, for each row (ie each subject) i just show the values of the subject fields and the number of associated questions for each subject. Can i optimise the above find call to suit these requirements? I thought about using a group field but my full call has a few different associations included, with some second-order associations, so i don't think group by will work. @subjects = Subject.find(:all, :include => [{:questions => :tags}, {:quizzes => :tags}], :order => "subjects.name") :tags in this case is a second-order association, via taggings. Here's my associations in case it's not clear what's going on. Subject has_many :questions has_many :quizzes Question belongs_to :subject has_many :taggings has_many :tags, :through => :taggings Quiz belongs_to :subject has_many :taggings has_many :tags, :through => :taggings Grateful for any advice - max

  • MySQL default value based on view

    Basically I have a bunch of views based on a simple discriminator column (eg. CREATE VIEW tablename AS SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE discrcolumn = "discriminator value"). Upon inserting a new row into this view, it should insert "discriminator value" into discrcolumn. I tried this, but apparently MySQL doesn't figure this out itself, as it throws an error "Field of view viewname underlying table does not have a default value". The discriminator column is set to NOT NULL of course. How do I mend this? Perhaps a pre-insert trigger? UPDATE: Triggers won't work on views, see below comment. Would it work to create a trigger on the table which uses a variable, and set that variable at establishing the connection? For each connection the value of that variable would be the same, but it could differ from other connections. EDIT: This appears to work... The second one is to tell the user how many records were suppressed based on the contents of the DG_App.dbo.uploadData table. The third query is just a straight count of all the records. When I run these the results of query 1 + the results of query 2 comes up about 46K records less than the count of the entire table. I have played with grouping the WHERE statements with () but that did not change the counts at all. This is MSSQL Server 2012. Any input on this would be great. Thanks

  • How can I tell when something outside my UITableViewCell has been touched?

    Similar to this question I have a custom subclass of UITableViewCell that has a UITextField. Its working fine except the keyboard for doesn't go away when the user touches a different table view cell or something outside the table. I'm trying to figure out the best place to find out when something outside the cell is touched, then I could call resignFirstResponder on the text field. If the UITableViewCell could receive touch events for touches outside of its view then it could just resignFirstResponder itself but I don't see any way to get those events in the cell. The solution I'm considering is to add a touchesBegan:withEvent: method to the view controller. There I could send a resignFirstResponder to all tableview cells that are visible except the one that the touch was in (let it get the touch event and handle it itself). Maybe something like this pseudo code: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint touchPoint = // TBD - may need translate to cell's coordinates for (UITableViewCell* aCell in [theTableView visibleCells]) { if (![aCell pointInside:touchPoint withEvent:event]) { [aCell resignFirstResponder]; } } } I'm not sure if this is the best way to go about this. There doesn't seem to be any way for the tableviewcell itself to receive event notifications for events outside its view.

    Hello, I'm new to C++ (I learned programming with Fortran), and I would like to allocate dynamically the memory for a multidimensional table. This table is a private member variable : class theclass{ public: void setdim(void); private: std::vector < std::vector <int> > thetable; } I would like to set the dimension of thetable with the function setdim(). void theclass::setdim(void){ this->thetable.assign(1000,std::vector <int> (2000)); } I have no problem compiling this program, but as I execute it, I've got a segmentation fault. The strange thing for me is that this piece (see under) of code does exactly what I want, except that it doesn't uses the private member variable of my class : std::vector < std::vector < int > > thetable; thetable.assign(1000,std::vector <int> (2000)); By the way, I have no trouble if thetable is a 1D vector. In theclass : std::vector < int > thetable; and if in setdim : this->thetable.assign(1000,2); So my question is : why is there such a difference with "assign" between thetable and this-thetable for a 2D vector?     I am trying to convert an HTML page to a PDF using iTextSharp.dll in ASP.Net. I am able to convert the contents to my PDF , but the problem is that the Formatting of HTML page (which is inline) get removed from my PDF created.   • How to (unit-)test data intensive PL/SQL application

    Our team is willing to unit-test a new code written under a running project extending an existing huge Oracle system. The system is written solely in PL/SQL, consists of thousands of tables, hundreds of stored procedures packages, mostly getting data from tables and/or inserting/updating other data. Our extension is not an exception. Most functions return data from a quite complex SELECT statementa over many mutually bound tables (with a little added logic before returning them) or make transformation from one complicated data structure to another (complicated in another way). What is the best approach to unit-test such code? There are no unit tests for existing code base. To make things worse, only packages, triggers and views are source-controlled, table structures (including "alter table" stuff and necessary data transformations are deployed via channel other than version control). There is no way to change this within our project's scope. Maintaining testing data set seems to be impossible since there is new code deployed to the production environment on weekly basis, usually without prior notice, often changing data structure (add a column here, remove one there). I'd be glad for any suggestion or reference to help us. Some team members tend to be tired by figuring out how to even start for our experience with unit-testing does not cover PL/SQL data intensive legacy systems (only those "from-the-book" greenfield Java projects).

  • Colorizing as SAS Map

    I'm trying to generate a map in SAS where I would like to to make gradual color changes which correspond to my results. So the higher the counts the more intense the color changes. Also I would like to add state labels to the map. Here is my code, so far it produces a white map with varying degress of blue blocks. I'd like the states colored in intense colors, like red, bright pink,brilliant, blues and greens. Can anyone please help me modify the code to add state labels and colorize the map, and below the map add a table summarizing the statistics, like counts and percentages. I would like to use that map along with the state labels and keep the colors and represent my data with blocks in the corresponding locations with city and state, and high level counts.
