• How to find cause and of the SocketException with message that an established connection was aborted

  Hi All, I know the similar question may have been asked many times, but I want to represent the behavior I'm seeing and find if somebody can help predict the cause of this. I am writing a windows service which connects to other windows service over TCP. There are 100 user entities of this, and 5 connections per each. These users perform their tasks using their individual connections. The application goes on withough seeing this problem for 1 or 2 days. Or sometimes show the problem right after starting (-rarely). The best run I had was like 4 to 5 days without showing this exception. And after that application died or I had to stop it for various reasons. I want to know what can be causing this? Here is the stacktrace.   I wrote a epoll wrapper in python, It works fine but recently I found the performance is not not ideal for large package sending.   I have a WCF service running, I added a reference to the service by using Add Service Reference in the solution explorer, and I checked the box for create asynchronous operations. My call works fine, I have a two way channel that reports back some events from the server and I am receiving the events. • Sanity check: UIBarButtonItem crashes trying to perform action

  One of my users is reporting a crash on his device, an iPhone 3GS. Other devices of the same type are not reporting similar behavior. He's sent me a crash log and based on reading it, I'm not sure how to proceed. I hope I'm not interpreting the crash log incorrectly but it doesn't look like my action has been called yet. • dumping the source code for an anonymous function

  I'm working with a lot of anonymous functions, ie functions declared as part of a dictionary, aka "methods". It's getting pretty painful to debug, because I can't tell what function the errors are happening in. Vim's backtraces look like this: Error detected while processing function NamedFunction..2111..2105: line 1: E730: using List as a String This trace shows that the error occurred in the third level down the stack, on the first line of anonymous function #2105. IE NamedFunction called anonymous function #2111, which called anonymous function #2105. NamedFunction is one declared through the normal function NamedFunction() ... endfunction syntax; the others were declared using code like function dict.func() ... endfunction. So obviously I'd like to find out which function has number 2105. Assuming that it's still in scope, it's possible to find out what Dictionary entry references it by dumping all of the dictionary variables that might contain that reference. This is sort of awkward and it's difficult to be systematic about it, though I guess I could code up a function to search through all of the loaded dictionaries for a reference to that function, watching out for circular references. Although to be really thorough, it would have to search not only script-local and global dictionaries, but buffer-local dictionaries as well; is there a way to access another buffer's local variables? Anyway I'm wondering if it's possible to dump the source code for the anonymous function instead. This would be a lot easier and probably more reliable.

• Handling Digital ID/Signature in Outlook Add-in

  I have a C# Outlook Add-In application (VS2005 and 2003 Outlook) that reads incoming emails and strips out the attachments and the email text body for future processing. Occasionally I'll get an email that contains a digital signature. The application will fail when I try to access the mailitem.body property, throwing the following exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0xAB404001): The operation failed. at Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._MailItem.get_Body() at MyLib.MyApp.OutlookAddin.MailProcessor.ProcessMailItem(MailItem mailItem) I'm pretty sure it is the digital signature causing the problem because if I forward the email back to myself, it will strip off the original sender's digital signature and the add-in application will process the email without any problems. I'm not sure what to do. I need to process the email, so I can't just ignore it. Somehow getting the body of the original email without throwing an exception would be ideal. Or I guess if I can identify that there is a digital signature associated with the email, I could forward the email to myself, but that seems a little messy. Does anyone have any suggestions/fixes? Thanks for any help.

I have to clean-up the object context because it may be reused and the following can happen. var documentA = new Document { Id = 1, Data = "ValidData" }; var documentB = new Document { Id = 2, Data = "InvalidData" }; var documentC = new Document { Id = 3, Data = "ValidData" }; try { // Adding document B will cause a ValidationException but only // after document A is added to the object context. this.DocumentStore.AddDocuments(new[] { documentA, documentB, documentC }); } catch (ValidationException) { } // Try again without the invalid document B. this.DocumentStore.AddDocuments(new[] { documentA, documentC }); This will again add document A to the object context and in consequence SaveChanges() will throw an exception because of a duplicate primary key. So I have to remove all already added documents in the case of an validation error. I could of course perform the validation first and only add all documents after they have been successfully validated. But sadly this does not solve the whole problem - if SaveChanges() fails all documents still remain add but unsaved. I tried to detach all objects returned by this.objectContext.ObjectStateManager.GetObjectStateEntries(EntityState.Added) but I am getting a exception stating that the object is not attached. So how do I get rid of all added but unsaved objects?

• Can not call web service with basic authentication using WCF

  I've been given a web service written in Java that I'm not able to make any changes to. It requires the user authenticate with basic authentication to access any of the methods. The suggested way to interact with this service in .NET is by using Visual Studio 2005 with WSE 3.0 installed. This is an issue, since the project is already using Visual Studio 2008 (targeting .NET 2.0). I could do it in VS2005, however I do not want to tie the project to VS2005 or do it by creating an assembly in VS2005 and including that in the VS2008 solution (which basically ties the project to 2005 anyway for any future changes to the assembly). I think that either of these options would make things complicated for new developers by forcing them to install WSE 3.0 and keep the project from being able to use 2008 and features in .NET 3.5 in the future... ie, I truly believe using WCF is the way to go. I've been looking into using WCF for this, however I'm unsure how to get the WCF service to understand that it needs to send the authentication headers along with each request. I'm getting 401 errors when I attempt to do anything with the web service. This is what my code looks like: WebHttpBinding webBinding = new WebHttpBinding(); ChannelFactory<MyService> factory = new ChannelFactory<MyService>(webBinding, new EndpointAddress( "http://127.0.0.1:80/Service/Service/")); factory.Endpoint.Behaviors.Add(new WebHttpBehavior()); factory.Credentials.UserName.UserName = "username"; factory.Credentials.UserName.Password = "password"; MyService proxy = factory.CreateChannel(); proxy.postSubmission(_postSubmission); This will run and throw the following exception: "The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Anonymous'. The authentication header received from the server was 'Basic realm=realm'." And this has an inner exception of: "The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized." Any thoughts about what might be causing this issue would be greatly appreciated.

• Why is my Android app camera preview running out of memory on my AVD?

  I have yet to try this on an actual device, but expect similar results. Anyway, long story short, whenever I run my app on the emulator, it crashes due to an out of memory exception. My code really is essentially the same as the camera preview API demo from google, which runs perfectly fine. Both projects reference a database project which opens a connection to an MS-Access 2007 database file and have references to System.Data.OleDb. • Java: What are the various available security settings for applets

  I have an applet that throws this exception when trying to communicate with the server (running on localhost). This problem is limited to Applets only - a POJO client is able to communicate with the exact same server without any problem. Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-1" java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net .SocketPermission 127.0.0.1:9999 connect,resolve) at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:323) My applet.policy file's contents is: grant { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; My question is what are the other places where I need to modify my security settings to grant an Applet more security settings? Thank you. EDIT: Further investigation has lead me to find that this problem only occurs on some machines - but not others. So it could be a machine level (global) setting that is causing this, rather than a application-specific setting such as the one in the applet.policy file. EDIT: Another SO question: Socket connection to originating server of an unsigned Java applet This seems to describe the exact same problem, and Tom Hawtin - tackline 's answer provides the reason why (a security patch released that disallows applets from connecting to localhost). Bearing this in mind, how do I grant the applet the security settings such that in can indeed run on my machine. Also why does it run as-is on other machines but not mine?

I just added in a Dev Express Grid (and the Dev Express DLLs) and a new page that uses them and now I am getting parsing errors on the WSDL. But the weird part is that it works fine on my machine but fails on the web server machine. (Both are connecting to the same web services WSDL.) The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work. I started down the path of using a MessageInspector, and wrote one but then realized there must be a better way, surely WCF provides some way to insert saml 2.0 assertions. I've made the most progress writing a custom binding - i've been able to get the timestamp and signature nodes in the soap header, but cannot for the life of me figure out the saml assertion. • Can xjc -version be trusted?

  I've spent the day debugging an issue with JAXB getting namespaces wrong or missing (possibly related to Marshaller.JAXB_FRAGMENT, but that's not the point here). I found the problem occurs with JAXB RI 2.1.10 in my endorsed dir. It is fixed if I use JAXB RI 2.2.4 or 2.2.6 Here is what is really confusing (and what made it take so long). The problem occurs on Linux with: $ java -version java version "1.7.0_03" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.1.1pre) (7~u3-2.1.1~pre1-1ubuntu2) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 22.0-b10, mixed mode) $ xjc -version xjc 2.2.4 but it should work fine, if this java really uses JAXB RI 2.2.4 !! Similarly, I can't reproduce the issue on Windows with Java 1.6.0_27, which reports: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_27\bin>java -version java version "1.6.0_27" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_27-b07) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.2-b06, mixed mode) C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_27\bin>xjc -version xjc version "JAXB 2.1.10 in JDK 6" JavaTM Architecture for XML Binding(JAXB) Reference Implementation, (build JAXB 2.1.10 in JDK 6) and yet if I put 2.1.10 RI in my endorsed dir, the problem occurs. It seems to me that the problem I'm experiencing has been fixed in the reference implementation somewhere after 2.1.10 and before 2.2.4, but that neither of the 2 VM's above actually use the JAXB version they claim to. Or possibly they use the xjc they claim, but not what is in jaxb-api.jar and jaxb-impl.jar (I know there is a difference in the namespace prefix mapper property, but that won't be causing this problem). I've done these experiments on Win 7 and Ubuntu, in tomcat (no eclipse), and in eclipse (no tomcat), so I'm pretty confident I'm explaining my findings correctly. Can anyone provide any insight into what is happening? If I'm right, does anyone know what versions of JAXB the various Sun/Oracle JDKs really use?

• Using inotify-tools and ruby to push uploads to Cloud Files

  Hi Guys, I wrote a few scripts to monitor an uploads directory for changes, then capture the file uploaded/changed and push it to cloud files using a ruby script. This all works well 95% of the time, the only exception is that occasionally, ruby fails with a 'file does not exist' exception. I am assuming that the ruby 'push' script is being called before the file is 100% in its new location, so the script is being called a little prematurely. I tried adding a little function to my script to check if the file exists, if it doesn't, sleep 5 then try again, but this seems to snowball and eventually dies.   Hi, I was looking at this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1935040/how-to-handle-large-file-uploads-via-wcf I need to have a web service hosted at my provider where i need to upload and download files to. We are talking videos from 1Mb to 100Mb hence the streaming approach.   Apart from the usual admin, I want to create a limited admin for non-staff users. This admin site will have different registered ModelAdmins. • Maintaing JTextArea scroll position

  I have a JScrollPane with a JTextArea set as its view port. I update the (multi line) text shown on the JTextArea continously about once a second. Each time the text updates, JScrollPane goes all the way to the bottom of the text. Instead, I'd like to figure out the line number that is currently shown as the first line in the original text, and have that line be the first line shown when the text has been updated (or if the new text doesn't have that many lines, then scroll all the way to the bottom). • FileInputStream throws NullPointerException.

  I am getting nullpointerexception, don't know what actually is causing it.   I have a Item model that has embedded documents. Currently, the following comments_controller code will add a comment to the item successfully. However, if pushing the comment document onto the comments array on item fails, I will not know this. #this does work, but i do not know if the push fails def create comment = Comment.new(:text => params[:text]) @item.comments << comment render :text => comment end I would like to have something like this, but @item.comments << comment does not return true or false: #this does not work def create comment = Comment.new(:text => params[:text]) if @item.comments << comment render :text => comment else render :text => 'oh no' end end Nor does it throw an exception when the document push fails: #this does not work def create begin comment = Comment.new(:text => params[:text]) @item.comments << comment render :text => comment rescue Exception => e render :text => 'oh no' end end Thanks!
