  • Can't log in a user in MVC!

    I have been scratching my head on this for a while now but still can't get it. I'm trying to simply log in a user in an MVC2 application. I have tried everything that I know to try but still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Here are a few things that I have tried: FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie( emailAddress, rememberMe ); var cookie = FormsAuthentication.GetAuthCookie( emailAddress, rememberMe ); HttpContext.Response.Cookies.Add( cookie ); FormsAuthenticationTicket ticket = new FormsAuthenticationTicket( emailAddress, rememberMe, 15 ); FormsIdentity identity = new FormsIdentity( ticket ); GenericPrincipal principal = new GenericPrincipal(identity, new string[0]); HttpContext.User = principal; I'm not sure if any of this is the right thing to do (as it's not working). After setting HttpContext.User = principal then Request.IsAuthenticated == true. However, in Global.asax I have this: HttpCookie authenCookie = Context.Request.Cookies.Get( FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName ); The only cookie that ever is available is the aspnet session cookie. Any ideas at all would be much appreciated!

Does anyone know how I'm able to access that?   • Include a c# file in aspx page

    Hi all: I have an aspx page that has a @Page directive which points to a c# class. e.g. <@ Page Language="C#" EnableSessionState="true" ValidateRequest="False" Inherits="MyClass" %> MyClass extends Page, which is the code behind class for that aspx page. Now I want to add another class to the aspx page. This class does some processing and will redirect the user to another page if certain conditions are met. It will be called before the above directive. I tried adding another @Page directive, but gotten an unknown error (literally). I'm thinking that there can only be one code behind class per aspx page so I got the error when I added another one. Googling such question didnt really help me with the answer. So, how do I add another c# class to the same aspx page? Thanks.

  • LinqDataSource wizard table list is not refreshing after updating LinqToSql classes

    I have changed my dbml file like this. I have deleted all the tables and stored procs. I added new tables and stored procs from a new database. In the code-behind, I can access the new tables and stored procs. However, in the LinqDataSource using the same dbContext when I'm trying to configure the LinqDataSource. I can see all the old tables in the wizard drop-down. How to refresh the the wizard drop-down so that I can select the newly added tables? Deleting the old LinqDataSourceand adding a new one is not working.

    hi there. have looked at Phil Haacks project on books at http://haacked.com/archive/2008/10/23/model-binding-to-a-list.aspx which has been useful, but I have a mix of data types. I use a modelview so that i can have a mix of objects, in this case: Order (ie order.id, order.date etc), Customer, SoilSamplingOrder and a list of SoilSamplingSubJobs which is like this [0].id, [0].field, [1].id, [1].field etc Perhaps I should be using ICollection instead of List? I had problems getting UpdateModel to work so I used an extract from collection method. the first 4 method calls : orderRepository.FindOrder(id); etc give the model the original to be edited. but after this point i'm a little lost in how to update the subjobs. I hope i have delineated enough to make sense of the problem.   • Locking issues with replacing files on a website

    I want to replace existing files on an IIS website with updated versions. Say these files are large pdf documents, which can be accessed via hyperlinks. The site is up 24x7, so I'm concerned about locking issues when a file is being updated at exactly the same time that someone is trying to read the file. The files are updated using C# code run on the server. I can think of two options for opening the file for writing. Option 1) Open the file for writing, using FileShare.Read : using (FileStream stream = new FileStream(path, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.Read)) While this file is open, and a user requests the same file for reading in a web browser via a hyperlink, the document opens up as a blank page. Option 2) Open the file for writing using FileShare.None : using (FileStream stream = new FileStream(path, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.None)) While this file is open, and a user requests the same file for reading in a web browser via a hyperlink, the browser shows an error. In IE 8, you get HTTP 500, "The website cannot display the page", and in Firefox 3.5, you get : "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." The browser behaviour kind of makes sense, and seem reasonable. I guess its highly unlikely that a user will attempt to read a file at exactly the same time you are updating it. It would be nice if somehow, the file update was atomic, like updating a database with SQL wrapped around a transaction. I'm wondering if you guys worry about this sort of thing, and prefer either of the above options, or even have other options of your own for updating files.

    I've browsed around the other articles on StackOverflow that relate to caching WCF proxies for reuse, and I've read this article explaining why I should explicitly open the proxy before calling anything on it. I'm still a little hazy on the best implementation details. My question is: when should I open and close proxies for service calls on a website, and what should their lifetime be (per call, per request, or per web app)? We aren't planning on leveraging cached security contexts at the moment (but it's not unforeseeable). Thanks!

    Can a user connect to my web site using an Orkut account ? Just like Google Friend Connect or Facebook, but with Orkut. The idea is, the user goes to my web site, I have a "Connect using Orkut" button there, on click takes him to the Orkut login page, once s/he logins and grants access to my app, get's redirected to my web site with the Orkut ID as a parameter. The same procedure that works for Google Friend Connect and also Facebook Connect.... I haven't seen an example of this with Orkut. Can it be done ? Is there an Orkut Connect or similar ? If there is one such example could you please give me a link to it ? A sample in c# would be excellent, but I would be happy with a sample in any language. Any help will be appreciated

  • jQuery ajax call doesn't seem to do anything at all

    I am having a problem with making an ajax call in jQuery. Having done this a million times, I know I am missing something really silly here. However, I never get an alert back that says success or an alert that says failure. I did go into my CS code and put a breakpoint on the GetEmployee method. The breakpoint did hit, so I know jQuery is successfully calling the method. I stepped through the method and it executed just fine with no errors. I can only assume the error is happening when the jQuery ajax call is returning from the call. Also, I looked in my event logs just to make sure there wasn't an ASPX error occurring. There is no error in the logs. I also looked at the console. There are no script errors. Anyone have any ideas what I am missing here? `

  • Finding the stored procedure that a Crystal Report is using

    I need to retrieve the name of the stored procedure that a crystal report is running. Is there any way to do this in C# using the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument object? I can't seem to find a property that will give me the stored procedure name. Is this even possible? I've been through almost all the properties I can think of. The DataDefinition object has collections for the Formula, Parameter, Group Name, and Running Total Fields, but not one for the Database Fields.

  • Cross Domain Scripting Issues & JSONP

    Our Client requires that we supply Widgits for their site. They want to link to us to get Html & the jQuery required to manipulate the Html and do asynchronous requests. I understand that there are cross-domain security limitations that would prevent this from being a possibility, but that some of those limitations are aleviated by using JSONP as the data transfer format. I'm finding it difficult in finding an explanation of what's possible in the context of what I'm trying to achieve. Could somebody please fill me in?

    I am starting to give up troubleshooting this issue I had... I had an .ascx page and had the following user control in it: <td> <Club:DatePicker ID="dp1" runat="server" /> </td> however in my code behind when I tried to write methods: public System.DateTime startDateTime { get { return dp1.SelectedDate.Add(tp1.SelectedTime.TimeOfDay); } set { dp1.SelectedDate = value; tp1.SelectedTime = value; } } It can't reference dp1(dp1 is underlined in red) as well as tp1... why is this?? I've tried to convert the solution to a web application and yet it doesn't work.     When i drag and drop my image/script/css file into my view, relative path will automatically use to refer on the files. example: <link href="../../Content/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="../../Scripts/jquery-min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <img src="../../Images/logo.jpg" /> It is working fine when i host it on my root directory, but if i'm using virtual directory then only my css file able to refer correctly, the rest will return 404...as it will refer to http://{root}/Images/logo.jpg rather than http://{root}/{virtual directory}/Images/logo.jpg But why css file is working? and how to specify the relative path correctly for both root & virtual directory cases?
