  • Url encode and routing?

    - by Curtis White
I'm using custom routing in a web forms context. I have some titles (part of my custom route) that have say a question mark character. When I URL encode this text ("Question?") and then pass into my route, I get an HTTP ERROR CODE 400. Apparently, the URL encoded text is somehow confusing the routing manager. Can someone provide context and explanation for this? Beyond that, I'm thinking I don't need to URL encode these route data but merely strip out the problem characters. Are there any security risks to not using URL decode/encode? And what are the problem characters? A list would be useful. Thanks!

  • Calling a generic function in VB.NET / C#

    - by Quandary
Question: I want to call a generic function, defined as: Public Shared Function DeserializeFromXML(Of T)(Optional ByRef strFileNameAndPath As String = Nothing) As T Now when I call it, I wanted to do it with any of the variants below: Dim x As New XMLserialization.cConfiguration x = XMLserialization.XMLserializeLDAPconfig.DeserializeFromXML(Of x)() x = XMLserialization.XMLserializeLDAPconfig.DeserializeFromXML(GetType(x))() x = XMLserialization.XMLserializeLDAPconfig.DeserializeFromXML(Of GetType(x))() But it doesn't work. I find it very annoying and unreadable having to type x = XMLserialization.XMLserializeLDAPconfig.DeserializeFromXML(Of XMLserialization.cConfiguration)() Is there a way to call a generic function by getting the type from the instance ?

  • Linq to sql DataContext cannot set load options after results been returned

    - by David Liddle
I have two tables A and B with a one-to-many relationship respectively. On some pages I would like to get a list of A objects only. On other pages I would like to load A with objects in B attached. This can be handled by setting the load options DataLoadOptions options = new DataLoadOptions(); options.LoadWith<A>(a => a.B); dataContext.LoadOptions = options; The trouble occurs when I first of all view all A's with load options, then go to edit a single A (do not use load options), and after edit return to the previous page. I understand why the error is occurring but not sure how to best get round this problem. I would like the DataContext to be loaded up per request. I thought I was achieving this by using StructureMap to load up my DataContext on a per request basis. This is all part of an n-tier application where my Controllers call Services which in turn call Repositories. ForRequestedType<MyDataContext>() .CacheBy(InstanceScope.PerRequest) .TheDefault.Is.Object(new MyDataContext()); ForRequestedType<IAService>() .TheDefault.Is.OfConcreteType<AService>(); ForRequestedType<IARepository>() .TheDefault.Is.OfConcreteType<ARepository>(); Here is a brief outline of my Repository public class ARepository : IARepository { private MyDataContext db; public ARepository(MyDataContext context) { db = context; } public void SetLoadOptions(DataLoadOptions options) { db.LoadOptions = options; } public IQueryable<A> Get() { return from a in db.A select a; } So my ServiceLayer, on View All, sets the load options and then gets all A's. On editing A my ServiceLayer should spin up a new DataContext and just fetch a list of A's. When sql profiling, I can see that when I go to the Edit page it is requesting A with B objects.

  • ModelState.AddModelError encodes HTML

    - by NTulip
Hi I am noticing a weird issue when using ModelState.AddModelError to validate input on my forms. The output from Html.ValidationMessage is not the true HTML value but it's encoded value and so the CSS style is not applied to the error message. Example: private string errorMessage = "<span class=\"negative\">{0}</span><br class=\"hid\" />"; ModelState.AddModelError("title", String.Format(errorMessage, "Tab title is required")); The output is shown as: <span class="field-validation-error">&lt;span class=&quot;negative&quot;&gt;URL is Required&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br class=&quot;hid&quot; /&gt;</span> This didn't use to be the case with their earlier beta's and I am not sure what approach to take here. Thanks Nick

  • textbox supplied route values with javaScript

    - by Maslow
I've tried the bare method and the T4MVC method but so far both are routing me to the current URL instead of the default path with no arguments for the following action: public virtual ActionResult Index(byte? location, int? sublocation) { } So when I try Url.Action("Index","Locations", new {location="", system=""}) if I'm at a location already this method returns the path to where I'm already at instead of the default path with no arguments. As does the following method with T4MVC. <input type="button" value="Go" style="display:none" onclick="window.location='<%= Url.Action(MVC.Controller.Index()) %>/'+$('input#location').val()+'/'+$('input#sublocation').val()+'/';" /> How can I get the default route with no arguments?

  • Html.BeginForm() not rendering properly

    - by Taskos George
    While searching in stackoverflow the other questions didn't exactly helped in my situation. How it would be possible to debug such an error like the one that the Html.BeginForm does not properly rendered to the page. I use this code @model ExtremeProduction.Models.SelectUserGroupsViewModel @{ ViewBag.Title = "User Groups"; } <h2>Groups for user @Html.DisplayFor(model => model.UserName)</h2> <hr /> @using (Html.BeginForm("UserGroups", "Account", FormMethod.Post, new { encType = "multipart/form-data", id = "userGroupsForm" })) { @Html.AntiForgeryToken() <div class="form-horizontal"> @Html.ValidationSummary(true) <div class="form-group"> <div class="col-md-10"> @Html.HiddenFor(model => model.UserName) </div> </div> <h4>Select Group Assignments</h4> <br /> <hr /> <table> <tr> <th> Select </th> <th> Group </th> </tr> @Html.EditorFor(model => model.Groups) </table> <br /> <hr /> <div class="form-group"> <div class="col-md-offset-2 col-md-10"> <input type="submit" value="Save" class="btn btn-default" /> </div> </div> </div> } <div> @Html.ActionLink("Back to List", "Index") </div> EDIT: Added the Model // Wrapper for SelectGroupEditorViewModel to select user group membership: public class SelectUserGroupsViewModel { public string UserName { get; set; } public string FirstName { get; set; } public string LastName { get; set; } public List<SelectGroupEditorViewModel> Groups { get; set; } public SelectUserGroupsViewModel() { this.Groups = new List<SelectGroupEditorViewModel>(); } public SelectUserGroupsViewModel(ApplicationUser user) : this() { this.UserName = user.UserName; this.FirstName = user.FirstName; this.LastName = user.LastName; var Db = new ApplicationDbContext(); // Add all available groups to the public list: var allGroups = Db.Groups; foreach (var role in allGroups) { // An EditorViewModel will be used by Editor Template: var rvm = new SelectGroupEditorViewModel(role); this.Groups.Add(rvm); } // Set the Selected property to true where user is already a member: foreach (var group in user.Groups) { var checkUserRole = this.Groups.Find(r => r.GroupName == group.Group.Name); checkUserRole.Selected = true; } } } // Used to display a single role group with a checkbox, within a list structure: public class SelectGroupEditorViewModel { public SelectGroupEditorViewModel() { } public SelectGroupEditorViewModel(Group group) { this.GroupName = group.Name; this.GroupId = group.Id; } public bool Selected { get; set; } [Required] public int GroupId { get; set; } public string GroupName { get; set; } } public class Group { public Group() { } public Group(string name) : this() { Roles = new List<ApplicationRoleGroup>(); Name = name; } [Key] [Required] public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual ICollection<ApplicationRoleGroup> Roles { get; set; } } ** EDIT ** And I get this form http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz268/gtas/formmine_zpsf6470e02.png I should receive a form like the one that I copied the code like this http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz268/gtas/formcopied_zpsdb2f129e.png Any ideas where or how to look the source of evil that makes my life hard for some time now?

  • Internet Explorer shows error when downloading excel file in SSL site

    - by Billy
I get the following error when downloading excel file in SSL site: Internet Explorer cannot download xxxx.aspx from mysite.com. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. After googling, I suspect that it's the problem of the response header. I try the solution in this page and set the header: http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/1020 HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Pragma", "no-cache"); HttpContext.Current.Response.CacheControl = "private"; But it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

  • slide animation skipped when using updatepanel callback

    - by superexsl
Hey, I'm trying to use UpdatePanels and JQuery but the panels seem to cancel out the JQuery. I want the user to press the search button, have the system perform the search using AJAX and then display the search results by sliding down the div using JQuery. However, it seems that if there are any delays, (I put the thread to sleep for a second), then the results just appear instead of sliding down. If I remove the sleep thread the sliding animation is fine. I've got the code below to execute the JQuery once the AJAX is loaded: <script type="text/javascript"> var prm = Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance(); prm.add_pageLoaded(showDiv); function showDiv(sender, args){ $("#results_bar").slideDown('slow'); } </script> Any ideas why the animation is skipped if there's a delay? Thanks

  • XML Serialization Not Working For All Elements (C#)

    - by splatto
I have an XML file that I'm trying to serialize into an object. Some elements are being ignored. What gives?

  • Render a user control ascx

    - by Jeremy
I want to use an ascx as a template, and render it programatically, using the resulting html as the return value of an ajax method. Page pageHolder = new Page(); MyUserControl ctlRender = (MyUserControl)pageHolder.LoadControl(typeof(MyUserControl),null); pageHolder.Controls.Add(ctlRender); System.IO.StringWriter swOutput = new System.IO.StringWriter(); HttpContext.Current.Server.Execute(pageHolder, swOutput, false); return swOutput.ToString(); This all executes, and the Page Load event of the user control fires, but the StringWriter is always empty. I've seen similar code to this in other examples, what am I missing?

  • How to bind Lists of a custom view model to a dropDownList an get the selected value after POST in A

    - by user187220
I have following problem. In my view model I defined some list properties as follows: public class BasketAndOrderSearchCriteriaViewModel { List<KeyValuePair> currencies; public ICollection<KeyValuePair> Currencies { get { if (this.currencies == null) this.currencies = new List<KeyValuePair>(); return this.currencies; } } List<KeyValuePair> deliverMethods; public ICollection<KeyValuePair> DeliveryMethods { get { if (this.deliverMethods == null) this.deliverMethods = new List<KeyValuePair>(); return this.deliverMethods; } } } This view model is embedded in another view model: public class BasketAndOrderSearchViewModel { public BasketAndOrderSearchCriteriaViewModel Criteria { [System.Diagnostics.DebuggerStepThrough] get { return this.criteria; } } } I use 2 action methods; one is for the GET and the other for POST: [HttpGet] public ActionResult Search(BasketAndOrderSearchViewModel model){...} [HttpPost] public ActionResult SubmitSearch(BasketAndOrderSearchViewModel model){...} In the view I implement the whole view model by using the EditorFor-Html Helper which does not want to automatically display DropDownLists for List properties! 1. Question: How can you let EditorFor display DropDownLists? Since I could not figure out how to display DropDownLists by using EditorFor, I used the DropDownList Html helper and filled it through the view model as follows: public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> DeliveryMethodAsSelectListItem() { List<SelectListItem> list = new List<SelectListItem>(); list.Add(new SelectListItem() { Selected = true, Text = "<Choose Delivery method>", Value = "0" }); foreach (var item in this.DeliveryMethods) { list.Add(new SelectListItem() { Selected = false, Text = item.Value, Value = item.Key }); } return list; } My 2. question: As you can see I pass my view model to the action metho with POST attribute! Is there a way to get the selected value of a DropDownList get binded to the passed view model? At the moment all the DropDownList are empty and the selected value can only be fetched by the Request.Form which I definitely want to avoid! I would greatly appreciate some ideas or tips on this!

  • Sys undefined for HTTPS url in IE8

    - by Dhana
I just discovered a rather peculiar issue in IE8 for a HTTPS link. Every time the page tries to access the HTTPS link, it produces an error. This happens only in IE8 and nothing else. Any idea what's going on? I found some items that said that means the files were not loaded, hence the issue and tried some fixes recommended, but they haven't worked so far. This is a .NET site by the way. https://www.beckshoes.com/cart/cart.aspx Message: 'Sys' is undefined Line: 70 Char: 1 Code: 0 URI: https://www.beckshoes.com/cart/cart.aspx Message: 'Sys' is undefined Line: 319 Char: 1 Code: 0 URI: https://www.beckshoes.com/cart/cart.aspx

  • Possible to cancel paging in ListView using DataPager

    - by Littlefool
I'm using a datapager control on my listview to perform paging in it. When paging through the table, I need to perform some validations. When these validations are not successfull, the paging should be cancelled. I currently perform the validation in the PagePropertiesChanging event of the ListView, however, the arguments do not provide a Cancel property. protected void MyListView_PagePropertiesChanging(object sender, PagePropertiesChangingEventArgs e) { if (!Validate()) { // cancel the paging action} } Does anyone know if canceling the paging is possible and how to perform it? Thanks

    - by Subhen
Hi, I am getting the error "A field initializer cannot reference the nonstatic field", While My code is as below: Object selectedItem = PageVariables.slectedItemData; MyClass selectedItems = (MyClass)selectedItem; But the same thing works if assign the value at the constructor or in a different method , like below: public partial class MusicPlayer : Page { Object selectedItem = PageVariables.slectedItemData; public MusicPlayer() { InitializeComponent(); MyClass selectedItems = (MyClass)selectedItem; } } I am just trying to understand what is the difference, Why it is looking for a static varaible declaration(in 1st case) while doesn't look for it while in a constructor or a different method!!!
