  • How to throw an HTTP error with mod_python

    - by Zxaos
    I have a setup where I'm serving simple python pages using the mod_python publisher. At some points I'd like to have the python function raise a standard apache error - for example throwing a 500 error if a required file is missing. How can I throw an apache error from within a mod_python script?

  • How do I retrieve program output in Python?

    - by Geoff
    I'm not a Perl user, but from this question deduced that it's exceedingly easy to retrieve the standard output of a program executed through a Perl script using something akin to: $version = `java -version`; How would I go about getting the same end result in Python? Does the above line retrieve standard error (equivalent to C++ std::cerr) and standard log (std::clog) output as well? If not, how can I retrieve those output streams as well? Thanks, Geoff

    - by John
    Im fairly new to jquery and Im using jquery tools for tabs. I am wanting in one of the tabs to show flexigrid, but when I try to do this flexigrid does not show up, its just blank. Again Im new so please go easy! <ul class="css-tabs"> <li><a href="#details">Account Details</a></li> <li><a href="#accounts">Sub Accounts</a></li> <li><a href="#groups">Groups</a></li> <li><a href="#support">Tickets</a></li> </ul> <div class="css-panes"> <div>Tab 1</div> <div><table id="flex1" style="display:none"></table></div> <div>Tab 3</div> <div>Tab 4</div> </div> <script> $(function() { $("ul.css-tabs").tabs("div.css-panes > div").history(); }); $('.flexme1').flexigrid(); $('.flexme2').flexigrid({height:'auto',striped:false}); $("#flex1").flexigrid ( { url: '/accounts_list.php', dataType: 'json', colModel : [ {display: 'ID', name : 'id', width : 45, sortable : true, align: 'center'}, {display: 'Username', name : 'username', width : 120, sortable : true, align: 'left'}, {display: 'Display Name', name : 'displayname', width : 150, sortable : true, align: 'left'}, {display: 'Limit', name : 'accounts', width : 50, sortable : true, align: 'center'}, {display: 'Rate', name : 'charge', width : 50, sortable : true, align: 'center'}, {display: 'Subs', name : 'subcount', width : 50, sortable : true, align: 'center'} ], searchitems : [ {display: 'ID', name : 'id'}, {display: 'Username', name : 'username', isdefault: true}, {display: 'Display Name', name : 'displayname'} ], sortname: "id", sortorder: "desc", usepager: true, singleSelect: true, title: 'Test', useRp: true, rp: 20, showTableToggleBtn: false, width: 500, height: 250 }); </script>

  • Crazy python behaviour

    - by Martin
    I have a little piece of python code in the server script for my website which looks a little bit like this: console.append([str(x) for x in data]) console.append(str(max(data))) quite simple, you might think, however the result it's outputting is this: ['3', '12', '3'] 3 for some reason python thinks 3 is the max of [3,12,3]! So am I doing something wrong? Or this is misbehaviour on the part of python?

  • How to match filetype with regular expression?

    - by Sanarothe
    Hi. I'm stuck trying to get a regex to match a filetype in a sorting script. Dir.foreach(savedirs[0]) do |x| puts "Matching " + x + " against filetypes." case x when x.match(/^.*\.exe$/i) then puts x when x.match(/\.jpe?g$/) then FileUtils.move(x, sortpath[".exe"], :verbose => true) when x =~ /\.jpg$/ then FileUtils.move(x, sortpath[".jpg"]) end end I can't get any of these to match on in windows. All I need is to confirm that a given filename matches against compatible filetypes.

  • Is x a reserved keyword in Javascript FF/Safari not in IE?

    - by Marco Demaio
    A web page of a web application was showing a strange error. I regressively removed all the HTML/CSS/JS code and arrived to the basic and simple code below. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html><head> <title>test</title> <script type="text/javascript"> var TestObj = { foo: function() {} } alert(x); //ok displays "undefined" var x = TestObj.foo; var z = TestObj.foo; </script> </head><body> <p onclick='alert(x);'>Click shows function foo!</p> <img onclick='alert(x);' alt='CRAZY click displays a number in FF/Safari not function foo' src='' style='display: block; width: 100px; height: 100px; border: 1px solid #00ff00;'> <p onclick='alert(x);'>Click shows function foo!</p> </body></html> It's crazy: when clicking on P elements the string "function(){}" is displaied as expected. But when clicking on IMG element it shows a number as if x function got in some way removed from memory or deinstantiated (it does not even show x as "undefined" but as a number). To let you test it quickly I placed the working test above also here. This can be reproduced on both Firefox 3.6 and Safari 4.0.4. Everything works properly only on IE7+. I'm really clueless, I was wondering if x is maybe a reserved keyword in JS Firefox/Safari. Thanks to anyone who could help! FYI: if you repalce x() with z() everything work prefectly in all browsers (this is even more crazy to me) adding a real image in src attribute does not fix the problem removing style in img does not fix the problem (i gave style to image only to help you clicking on image thus you can see the imnage border)

  • generating program structur (nodes) using bison and flex

    - by gruszczy
    I would like to write myself a pretty printer for java using bison and flex. I have written a pretty printer for a script language, but I was only writing visitors, which made the printing. How can I turn a program using my formal grammar into a tree of nodes (made using C++ classes), that afterwards I could visit using my visitor? Maybe you could give me some link with an example of this? What i need to put into flex/bison files?

  • Why is using OPENQUERY on a local server bad?

    - by Ziplin
    I'm writing a script that is supposed to run around a bunch of servers and select a bunch of data out of them, including the local server. The SQL needed to SELECT the data I need is pretty complicated, so I'm writing sort of an ad-hoc view, and using an OPENQUERY statement to get the data, so ultimately I end up looping over a statement like this: exec('INSERT INTO tabl SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(@Server, @AdHocView)') However, I've heard that using OPENQUERY on the local server is frowned upon. Could someone elaborate as to why?

  • Whats happening to my HTML?

    - by user156814
    I am making changes to my website, and I just noticed that things look different. In IE, the content doesnt center, theres a margin on my content, and the font looks bigger in chrome.. I ran it through Yahoo's HTML validator and the error I get is line 1 - Error: character "" not allowed in prolog. I believe that there may be some sort of whitespace being sent before the DOC TYPE, but I cant seem to fix it. The HTML looks fine in my text editor (Notepad++) so I dont know what the problem is. Im using a strict DOC Type. Everything was fine before I made any changes, but I cant pinpoint what caused the change. If it helps, I'm using a Framework (Kohana). My initial thought was that something was being sent to the browser by an echo or something, but I couldnt find any echo statements. I dont know what could be causing this... If you want to see any code or HTML just ask. Thanks. Heres the HTML (only head and doctype) via the page source in Google Chrome There seems to be some foreign characters in the source that I've never seen before, yet dont show up anywhere else (yahoo, or otherwise) <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <title>Recent Debates - Clashing Thoughts</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us" /> <meta name="description" content="Clashing Thoughts is a great place to argue! • ASP.Net Checkbox value at postback is wrong?

    - by Duracell
    We have a checkbox that is initially disabled and checked. It is then enabled on the client side through javascript. If the user then unchecks the box and presses the button to invoke a postback, the state of the checkbox remains as checked on the server side. This is obviously undesirable behaviour. Here is an example. <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="testcb.aspx.cs" Inherits="ESC.testcb" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <script type="text/javascript"> function buttonClick() { var cb = document.getElementById('<%= CheckBox1.ClientID %>'); cb.disabled = false; cb.parentNode.disabled = false; } </script> <div> <asp:CheckBox ID="CheckBox1" runat="server" Checked="true" Enabled="false" /> <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" OnClientClick="buttonClick(); return false;" /> <asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="Button2" OnClick="button2Click" /> </div> </form> </body> </html> And the Server-side code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; namespace ESC { public partial class testcb : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } protected void button2Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string h = ""; } } } So we break at the "string h" line and check the value of CheckBox1.Checked. It is true, even if it is unchecked on the form.

  • shopify_app syntax error

    - by Pete171
    Edit: Debugging has got me further. Question clarified. We have installed Ruby, RubyGems and Rails and have forked the shopify_app project. We have created a new rails applications and added three items to the Gemfile: execjs, therubyracer and shopify_app. Running rails s in order to start our rails application returns this trace: root@ubuntu:/usr/local/pete-shopify/cart# rails s Faraday: you may want to install system_timer for reliable timeouts /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/shopify_app-4.1.0/lib/shopify_app.rb:15:in `require': /var/lib /gems/1.8/gems/shopify_app-4.1.0/lib/shopify_app/login_protection.rb:5: syntax error, unexpected ':', expecting kEND (SyntaxError) ...rce::UnauthorizedAccess, with: :close_session ^ from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/shopify_app-4.1.0/lib/shopify_app.rb:15 from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/bundler-1.2.1/lib/bundler/runtime.rb:68:in `require' from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/bundler-1.2.1/lib/bundler/runtime.rb:68:in `require' from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/bundler-1.2.1/lib/bundler/runtime.rb:66:in `each' from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/bundler-1.2.1/lib/bundler/runtime.rb:66:in `require' from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/bundler-1.2.1/lib/bundler/runtime.rb:55:in `each' from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/bundler-1.2.1/lib/bundler/runtime.rb:55:in `require' from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/bundler-1.2.1/lib/bundler.rb:128:in `require' from /usr/local/pete-shopify/cart/config/application.rb:7 from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/railties-3.2.8/lib/rails/commands.rb:53:in `require' from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/railties-3.2.8/lib/rails/commands.rb:53 from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/railties-3.2.8/lib/rails/commands.rb:50:in `tap' from /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/railties-3.2.8/lib/rails/commands.rb:50 from script/rails:6:in `require' from script/rails:6 I haven't modified any files since forking from Github. Lines 1 - 6 of login_protection.rb are as follows: module ShopifyApp::LoginProtection extend ActiveSupport::Concern included do rescue from ActiveResource::UnauthorizedAccess, with: :close_session end I've looked into this and it seems that the error is caused by a new-style hash syntax between Ruby 1.8 and 1.9; key : value instead of key => value. Running ruby -v from the command line returns ruby 1.9.3p0 (2011-10-30 revision 33570) [x86_64-linux]. This would seem to be OK... but I did some debugging, and inside the file /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/shopify_app-4.1.0/lib/shopify_app.rb (at the top) by putting this: puts RUBY_VERSION exit It printed 1.8.7. **Why are ruby -v and RUBY_VERSION giving me different results? And am I correct in assuming this is the cause of my problems? Note: To upgrade Ruby I installed the later version with apt-get and then switched to it by using update-alternatives --config ruby and selecting option 2 like this: root@ubuntu:/usr/local/pete-shopify/cart# update-alternatives --config ruby There are 2 choices for the alternative ruby (providing /usr/bin/ruby). Selection Path Priority Status ------------------------------------------------------------ 0 /usr/bin/ruby1.8 50 auto mode 1 /usr/bin/ruby1.8 50 manual mode * 2 /usr/bin/ruby1.9.1 10 manual mode Also note: We're PHP/Python developers so this is all new to us! Summary: 1 - Am I right in determining the cause of the syntax error? 2 - Why does RUBY_VERSION and ruby -v give me different results?

  • Is there a way in PHP to keep a file open and process each line and subsequent lines?

    - by Chris Denman
    I want to write a php script that keeps the apache_log file open and "listen" to the log and deal with each log entry as it happens. I'm thinking that I need to open a file, get the number of lines, then do this again in a loop - and when the size is different, read the new lines and process them. Am I barking up the wrong tree, or is there a silly easy solution that I have missed? Chris
