  • How to nest a form in an ASP.NET page (which has a form wrapped around it)

    - by Josh
I am writing HTML to an ASP.NET page (from a web service response), and the HTML has tags. Unfortunately, because the ASP.NET page already has a wrapped around it, a lot of the buttons on the page break. Does anyone know how I can nest the form inside the ASP.NET page without breaking the top-level form? Note: the HTML I am bringing in is a form with a bunch of hidden fields inside of it, and it has to be placed within the ASP.NET page, and thus nested in the top-level form. Thanks

  • Are these REST HTTP response codes right, and what about the Content-Type?

    - by talentedmrjones
    I'm writing a controller helper that sets the proper response headers for my REST controller action. It's pasted below and should be simplified enough for those who aren't familiar with Zend Framework to understand what I'm doing. My question is: Are these codes correct for their respective responses, and in the case of "access denied" do I use a 401 or 403? Also, in case of responding with an error, I understand I should be placing a message in the response body, but should I set the "Content-Type" to "text/plain"? <?php class App_Controller_Helper_RestResponse extends Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_Abstract { public function denied() { // 403 or 401? } public function notFound() { // 404 } public function created() { // 201 } public function deleted() { // 204 } public function redirect() { // 301 // new url } public function malformed() { // 400 } public function gone() { // 410 } }

  • How can I pass a type as a parameter in scala?

    - by rsan
I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out how can I store or pass a type in scala. What I want to achive is something like this: abstract class Foo( val theType : type ) object Foo{ case object Foo1 extends Foo(String) case object Foo2 extends Foo(Long) } So at some point I can do this: theFoo match{ case String => "Is a string" case Long => "Is a long" } and when obtaining the object being able to cast it: theFoo.asInstanceOf[Foo1.theType] Is this possible? If is possible, is a good aproach? What I'm trying to achieve ultimately is writing a pseudo schema for byte stream treatment. E.g if I have an schema Array(Foo1,Foo1,Foo2,Foo3,Foo1) I could parse Arrays of bytes that complain with that schema, if at some point I have a different stream of bytes I could just write a new schema Array(Foo3, Foo4, Foo5) without having to reimplement parsing logic. • Enclosing multiple LaTeX documents

    - by InfiniteInt
I am not sure if this question is suitable for superuser instead, but I'll ask anyway. Currently I'm writing on my documentation for my final project. I must append several other LaTeX documents as enclosure. They must be mentioned in the first Table of Contents as alphabetical appendix. I tried the package subfiles, but the subsequent TOC´s are always empty exept in case of translating them alone. Is there any other way to append multiple full documents with there own documentclass??

  • How can I implement a login wall for expired or inappropriate pages?

    - by Redandwhite
I am writing a website that very explicitly requires a login wall. Visitors should be required to log in before they are allowed to view a page. The page being built depends very much on the user's "ID". I am not sure how or where to store the user's login. I am not sure whether I should use a session variable (e.g. Session["userId"]), or some other method. The problem I see with session variables is that it's difficult to time out sessions. Note: I'm using C# 3.5 with ASP.NET in Visual Studio 2008.

  • How it is called when write or read return less that requested?

    - by Vi
What term should I use to describe situations (or bugs in software) caused by read, write, send, recv doing less work than expected? For example, write(fd, "123456", 6); may return 3 and we need to write "456" to finish our work. I expect any good program should do all their reads and writes in a loop until without relying that write will write everything. Am I right? /* Implemented simple FUSE filesystem which only allows reading and writing with small buffers, very often returning that it is written less bytes that in a buffer. Some programs work, some not. Are them buggy? */

  • I need a simple slideshow for images of different sizes

    - by Darryl Young
I'm looking for a very basic slideshow which displays images of various sizes. For example, the first image could be a standard 800x600 but the next might be a taller portrait image and so on. The slideshow doesn't need to have any controls. The specification just states that the page will be black and in the centre there'll be the area where images will display. As far as I know, it will be very simple like this - www.jeffcutter.net. I'm limited on time here so I'm not able to look into writing a custom one or anything like that. I just need to get some images displaying like in the example. Thanks in advance, it's much appreciated. Have a great weekend! Regards.

  • need a code snippet to find all *.html under a folder in nodejs

    - by Nicolas S.Xu
I'd like to find all *.html files in src folder and all its sub folders using nodejs. What is the best way to do it? var folder = '/project1/src'; var extension = 'html'; var cb = function(err, results) { // results is an array of the files with path relative to the folder console.log(results); } // This function is what I am looking for. It has to recursively traverse all sub folders. findFiles(folder, extension, cb); I think a lot developers should have great and tested solution and it is better to use it than writing one myself.

  • Object viewer control needed (like QuickWatch in VS)

    - by Wallstreet Programmer
Anyone know of any controls that you can add to your application to allow the user to check out the content of an object? I'm thinking of something like QuickWatch in Visual Studio, just list all properties of an object and its values and allow the user to drill down. I started writing one using reflection but it turned out be a lot of work to handle different kind of collections. This functionality would be used for debugging purposes mostly and not by regular users. I prefer WPF but Winforms would work as well.

  • How to research unmanaged memory leaks in .NET?

    - by Brandon
I have a WCF service running over MSMQ. Memory gradually increases over time, indicating that there is some sort of memory leak. I ran the service locally and monitored some counters using PerfMon. Total CLR memory managed heap bytes remains relatively constant, while the process' private bytes increases over time. This leads me to believe that there is some sort of unmanaged memory leak. Assuming that unmanaged memory leak is the issue, how do I address the issue? Are there any tools I could use to give me hints as to what is causing the unmanaged memory leak? Also, all my service is doing is reading from the transactional queue and writing to a database, all as part of a DTC transaction (handled under the hood by requiring a transaction on the service contract). I am not doing anything explicitly with COM or DllImports. Thanks in advance!

  • Getting differences between collections in LINQ

    - by dotnetdev
Hi, I have a collection of image paths, and a larger collection of Image objects (Which contain a path property). I have the code to check for any matching images, but if there are supposed to be four matching image paths (as that is how many are in the first collection), and there is less than this, how can I get the missing one without writing loops? List<string> ImagesToCheck = new List<string>() { "", "s", "ssdd" }; IEnumerable<HtmlImage> Images = manager.ActiveBrowser.Find.AllControls<HtmlImage>(); var v = from i in Images where ImagesToCheck.Any(x => x == i.Src) select i; if (v.Count() < 3) { } So I need to get the items which are not in the collection titled v, but are in ImagesToCheck. How could I do this with LINQ? Thanks

  • Running Firefox in the Windows service mode

    - by Leonid
I'm writing a server running as a Windows service that by request invokes Firefox to generate a pdf snapshot of a webpage. I know it is a bad idea to run a GUI program in service mode, but the server nature of my program restricts from running it in the user mode. Running a user-level 'proxy' also is not an option, since there might be no interactive user logged-in on the machine with the server running. In my experiments Firefox successfully produced pdf when the service was running under a user account that was already logged-in. Obviously it didn't work in other cases: for Local System and user accounts that weren't logged-in. Under LocalSystem with 'Allow service to interact with desktop' option enabled I could see the Firefox started that reports that it's unable to find a printer. Since it wouldn't be practical to require an opened user session for the pdf server to run, is there any workaround for this except running the whole thing from a virtual machine?

  • Scripting vim to Run Perltidy on a Buffer

    - by rjray
At my current job, we have coding-style standards that are different from the ones I normally follow. Fortunately, we have a canned RC file for perltidy that I can apply to reformat files before I submit them to our review process. I have code for emacs that I use to run a command over a buffer and replace the buffer with the output, which I have adapted for this. But I sometimes alternate between emacs and vim, and would like to have the same capabilities there. I'm sure that this or something similar is simple and had been done and re-done many times over. But I've not had much luck finding any examples of vim-script that seem to do what I need. Which is, in essence, to be able to hit a key combo (like Ctrl-F6, what I use in emacs) and have the buffer be reformatted in-place by perltidy. While I'm a comfortable vim-user, I'm completely clueless at writing this sort of thing for vim.

  • HTML block nested in PHP if statement - is this considered bad practice?

    - by JYelton
Consider the following example: <table> <tr> <td>Row One</td> </tr> <?php if ($rowtwo) { ?> <tr> <td>Row Two</td> </tr> <?php } ?> </table> If $rowtwo is true, the second row is output, otherwise it is skipped. The code works as desired, however I am evaluating Netbeans (7 beta) as a PHP IDE (instead of just using a text editor). Netbeans flags the code with an error: Misplaced non-space characters insided [sic] a table. Should I consider an alternate way of writing this code, or is Netbeans incapable of understanding this flow control wrapper for HTML output?

  • How do I do division on HH:MM:SS format time strings in C#?

    - by Jake
I have a series of times that are coming to me as strings from a web service. The times are formated as HH:MM:SS:000 (3 milisecond digits). I need to compare two times to determine if one is more than twice as long as the other: if ( timeA / timeB > 2 ) What's the simplest way to work with the time strings? If I was writing in Python this would be the answer to my question: Difference between two time intervals in Python Edit: What I'm really looking for is a way to get the ratio of timeA to timeB, which requires division, not subtraction. Unfortunately, the DateTime structure doesn't appear to have a division operator. Updated the question title to reflect this.

  • Endless saving of CoreData Context

    - by Robert
Sometimes I noticed that a 'save:' operation an a ManagedObjectContext never returns and consumes 100% CPU. I'm using an SQL Store in a GarbageCollected environment (Mac OS X 10.6.3). The disk activity shows about 700 KB/s writing. While having a look at the folder that contains the sqlite database file the "-journal" file appears and disappears, appears and disappears, ... This is part of the call graph from the process analysis: 2203 -[NSManagedObjectContext save:] 1899 -[NSPersistentStoreCoordinator(_NSInternalMethods) executeRequest:withContext:] 1836 -[NSSQLCore executeRequest:withContext:] 1836 -[NSSQLCore saveChanges:] 1479 -[NSSQLCore performChanges] ... 335 -[NSSQLCore recordChangesInContext:] ... 20 -[NSSQLCore rollbackChanges] ... 2 -[NSSQLCore prepareForSave:] ... 62 -[NSPersistentStoreCoordinator(_NSInternalMethods) _checkRequestForStore:originalRequest:andOptimisticLocking:] ... 1 -[NSPersistentStore(_NSInternalMethods) _preflightCrossCheck] ... 184 -[NSMergePolicy resolveConflicts:] ... 120 -[NSManagedObjectContext(_NSInternalChangeProcessing) _prepareForPushChanges:] ... Everything a happening in the main GUI thread. Any ideas what I can to do to resolve the problem?

  • minifying patched javascript files

    - by Stacia
I'm writing a Rails app and I've partially integrated in this nice little patch to the in line ajax editor: http://inplacericheditor.box.re/ The problem is, on that page I have tinymce, prototype and scriptaculous included. In Firefox at least there's a big lag when all this stuff is loading. I was hoping to fix it by compressing the files so I checked out a plugin for rails called Smurf. It seemed to do what it was supposed to do nicely, but it choked on the little patch files that are included with the Ajax editor thing. THe patch files look like this: Object.extend(Ajax.InPlaceEditor.prototype, { handleAJAXFailure: function(transport) Alternatively, should I just be catching them instead of worrying about minfying them? I know I'm running on development and that Apache would maybe be handling serving the js files differently..It just seems like a lot of things to serve on one page.

  • How can I get values from one table to another via similar values?

    - by Andrija
I have a table called excel that has 3 columns, name, id, and full_name. The name part is the only one I have and I need to fill id and full_name. The other table that contains the data is called tim_pismena and has 2 columns that I need, id and pismeno_name (the actual names are not important, but i'm writing them just for clarity). In pseudooracle code :) the select that gets me the values from the second table would be done something like this: SELECT tp.id, tp.pismeno_name FROM tim_pismena tp WHERE upper(tp.naziv_pismena) LIKE IN upper('%(SELECT ime as FROM excel)%') and when used with an insert, the end result should be something like name id full_name Happy Joe 55 Very fun place Happy Joe, isn't it?

  • SQL compare entire rows

    - by zmaster
In SQL server 2008 I have some huge tables (200-300+ cols). Every day we run a batch job generating a new table with timestamp appended to the name of the table. The the tables have no PK. I would like a generic way to compare 2 rows from two tables. Showing which cols having different values is sufficient, but showing the values would be perfect. Thanks a lot Thanks for the answers. I ended up writing my own C# tool to do the job - as Im not allowed to install 3rd party software in my company.

  • Looking for a managed image parser library (JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF)

    - by usr
I am writing a discussion board software that will have "avatar" images for the users. I want to resize any picture that gets uploaded to a reasonable size. I could easily do that with System.Drawing but that is relying on GDI+ which has hat security problems before. The problem is that the images are untrusted. So I thought of using a fully managed lib to solve that problem because managed code cannot escape the sandbox (of course it can, but only if the code is user-supplied which it is not in my case). So does anybody know of a managed image parser library for JPEG, BMP, PNG and GIF? If some format is missing than I will have to live with that. Edit: Paint.NET also relies on GDI+. You might be interested in the discussion below, too.

  • Which is the best and appropriate way to write the code in Winforms ?

    - by Harikrishna
What is the best way to write the code ? (1) Like directly writing the code in the button_click() event. or (2) Make the function of that code which I write in button_click() event and write this function in one class and then that function I should call in the button_Click() event.Like is it called three-tired approach to write the code ? Like in button_Click() event I write the code to save the records in csv file from datatable. So I should write that code in button_Click() event or I should make one new function and one new class and write that code in that function which is the new class and calling that function in button_Click() event. This is only one example but I am talking about all the code written in my application that which is the appropriate and best way to write the code and what are the benefits ? Note that I write the code in Winforms with c#.

  • Do private classes need to be accessed by properties?

    - by Andy
I am using an instance of a private class as the state object supplied to a stream.BeginRead operation. (The class is private to my main stream reading/writing class.) public class MainClass { // ... private class ResponseState { public IResponse response; public Stream stream; public byte[] buffer = new byte[1024]; } } Access to the class is via the fields directly. Should I really be providing access to the class via properties in this case, even though it is only to be used for holding state? Interested to know what others do.

  • Display graph without saving using pydot

    - by user506710
Hello all I am trying to display a simple graph using pydot. My question is that is there any way to display the graph without writing it to a file as currently I use write function to first draw and then have to use the Image module to show the files. However is there any way that the graph directly gets printed on the screen without being saved ?? Also as an update I would like to ask in this same question that I observe that while the image gets saved very quickly when I use the show command of the Image module it takes noticeable time for the image to be seen .... Also sometimes I get the error that the image could'nt be opened because it was either deleted or saved in unavailable location which is not correct as I am saving it at my Desktop..... Does anyone know what's happening and is there a faster way to get the image loaded..... Thanks a lot....

  • Locking DB w/ Large Reads (Ruby-on-Rails/Heroku)

    - by Splashlin
Currently I have a Web API running on Heroku that is constantly writing information we're collecting from other data sources (currently theres about half a GB of data and it's growing very quickly). We're looking to add a reporting system on top of the current database that we can use to extract useful information out of the DB. The problem is that when we're running reports we're locking the DB and any other sites communicating with the DB are timing out. Does anyone have any solutions on how to solve this type of issue? Amazon RDS seems to have some interesting stuff with database replication but I don't know if that will solve my problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Starting out with Exchange Server development

    - by Tony
Hi, We've written several Outlook Add-ins for various projects and have now been asked to look at writing a Exchange server add-in. We will need to inspect all incoming / outgoing msgs and tag / file them into a document management system. If it's a message that we are interested in we would ideally like to change the default icon that is displayed in Outlook. We could I guess settle for Categorising / colour coding the email but we've been asked for a icon. Any guidance on how to get started / killer reference apps much appricaiated. Oh we will be needing to target both Exchange 2003 and 2007. vb.net is our bag but were fine with c# too. Thanks in advance - liking the site thus far btw
