• Detecting what changed in an HTML Textfield

  For a major school project I am implementing a real-time collaborative editor. For a little background, basically what this means is that two(or more) users can type into a document at the same time, and their changes are automatically propagated to one another (similar to Etherpad). Now my problem is as follows: I want to be able to detect what changes a user carried out onto an HTML textfield. They could: Insert a character Delete a character Paste a string of characters Cut a string of characters I want to be able to detect which of these changes happened and then notify other clients similar to "insert character 'c' at position 2" etc. Anyway I was hoping to get some advice on how I would go about implementing the detection of these changes? My first attempt was to consider the carot position before and after a change occurred, but this failed miserably. For my second attempt I was thinking about doing a diff on the entire contents of the textfields old and new value. Am I missing anything obvious with this solution? Is there something simpler?

• How do you reenable a validation control w/o it simultaneously performing an immediate validation?

  When I called this function to enable a validator from client javascript: `ValidatorEnable(document.getElementById('<%=valPassportOtherText.ClientID%>'), true); //enable` validation control the required validation control immediately performed it validation, found the value in the associated text box blank and set focus to the textbox (because SetFocusOnError was set to true). • Cocoa NSOutlineView and Drag-and-Drop

  I recently started another thread without an account, so I'm reposting the question here with an account so I can edit current links to the program so other users can follow this. I have also updated the code below. Here is my original question: I read the other post here on Outlineviews and DND, but I can't get my program to work. At the bottom of this post is a link to a zip of my project. Its very basic with only an outlineview and button. I want it to receive text files being dropped on it, but something is wrong with my code or connections. I tried following Apple's example code of their NSOutline Drag and Drop, but I'm missing something. 1 difference is my program is a document based program and their example isn't. I set the File's Owner to receive delegate actions, since that's where my code to handle drag and drop is, as well as a button action. • Using Custom MapType with Google Maps API

  I realise there are a couple of examples such as Maoki's Add Your Own Custom Map and Mike Williams' [link text][Google Maps API Tutorial] however I have looked at these and still end up with a Grey box. The API will not call my "getTileUrl" callback function. • XSL-FO: Static content AND Flow content in Region-Body: Possible?

  I have the following problem: I need to use XSLFO to generate a 2-column multipage document. Problem is: I need to have a vertical line between the 2 columns. Since XSLFO does not seem to specify a option for creating such a divider, I need to manually put it there. I was thinking of using a static rotated blockcontainer with a leader in it. • How can I embed images in an ASP.NET Generated Word File

  Hi everyone! I have a quite common problem, as I saw in the various user groups but could not find a suitable answer. What I want to do is generate an ASP.NET page in my website which will have the option of being exported into Microsoft Word .doc format. The method I have used is this: Response.Clear(); Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=Test.doc"); Response.Charset = ""; Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache); Response.ContentType = "application/msword"; StringWriter sw = new StringWriter(); HtmlTextWriter htmlWrite = new HtmlTextWriter(sw); Page.RenderControl(htmlWrite); Response.Write(sw.ToString()); Response.End(); However this eventhough it generates a word doc, the images are note embedded in the document, rather they are placed as links. I have looked for a way to do this, but have not found something that actually worked. I would appreciate any help I can get, since this as "last minute" requirement (talk about typical) Thanks

  When I first started working at the company that i work at now, I created a java application that would run batches of jasper-reports. In order to determine which parameters to use for each report in the set of reports, I run a sql query (on sqlserver). I wrote the application to take an xml file with a set of parameters for each report to be generated in the set. so, my process has become, effectively, three steps: run the sql query and return the results in XML format (using 'for XML auto') run the results of the sql query through an XSLT transformation so the xml is formatted in such a way that is friendly with the java application i wrote. run the java application with that final xml file As you can imagine, what I'd like to do is accomplish these steps in python, but i'm not quite sure how to get started. I know how to run an SQL query in Python. I see plenty of documentation about how to write your own xml document with Python. I even see documentation for xsl transformations in python. the big question is how to get the results of the sql query in XML through python. Any and all pointers would be very valuable. • Dynamically created iframe not working on Safari

  I have a weird problem and I find no answer on google... I dynamically create and fullfil an iframe with jquery on a page. It works fine withFF and IE, but not with Safari. The iframe is created but empty (the message "greetings from the iframe !" is missing). • Return and Save XML Object From Sharepoint List Web Service

  I am trying to populate a variable with an XML response from an ajax call on page load so that on keyup I can filter through that list without making repeated get requests (think very rudimentary autocomplete). The trouble that I am having seems to be potentially related to variable scoping but I am fairly new to js/jQuery so I am not quite certain. The following code doesn't do anything on key up and adding alerts to it tells me that it is executing leadResults() on keyup and that the variable is returning an XML response object but it appears to be empty. The strange bit is that if I move the leadResults() call into the getResults() function the UL is populated with the results correctly. • Memory allocation in detached NSThread to load an NSDictionary in background?

  I am trying to launch a background thread to retrieve XML data from a web service. I developed it synchronously - without threads, so I know that part works. Now I am ready to have a non-blocking service by spawning a thread to wait for the response and parse. I created an NSAutoreleasePool inside the thread and release it at the end of the parsing. The code to spawn and the thread are as follows: Spawn from main-loop code: . . [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(spawnRequestThread:) toTarget:self withObject:url]; . . Thread (inside 'self'): -(void) spawnRequestThread: (NSURL*) url { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; parser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url]; [self parseContentsOfResponse]; [parser release]; [pool release]; } The method parseContentsOfResponse fills an NSMutableDictionary with the parsed document contents. I would like to avoid moving the data around a lot and allocate it back in the main-loop that spawned the thread rather than making a copy. First, is that possible, and if not, can I simply pass in an allocated pointer from the main thread and allocate with 'dictionaryWithDictionary' method? That just seems so inefficient. Are there perferred designs?

• Google Maps API V3: How to jump to a specific marker from outside the map?

  I have a map with two markers on it. The initial view of the map only shows one marker, and I want to provide a link next to the map that will move the map to the 2nd marker when clicked. • GET Trello JSON to put in a string var

  I'm trying to get the JSON that a TRELLO API Url returns and put it into a string. On my own private board I am getting "401 Unauthorized". But the Trello Api doesn't seem to give any way to authorize a user through the URL.   Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me as I've been stuck on this problem for a few days now. Basically I'm trying to pull data from 3 tables in Oracle: 1) Orders Table 2) Vendor Table and 3) Master Data Table. Here's what the 3 tables look like: Table 1: BIZ_DOC2 (Orders table) OBJECTID (Unique key) UNIQUE_DOC_NAME (Document Name i.e. ORD-005) CREATED_AT (Date the order was created) Table 2: UDEF_VENDOR (Vendors Table): PARENT_OBJECT_ID (This matches up to the ObjectId in the Orders table) VENDOR_OBJECT_NAME (This is the name of the vendor i.e. Acme) Table 3: BIZ_UNIT (Master Data table) PARENT_OBJECT_ID (This matches up to the ObjectID in the Orders table) BIZ_UNIT_OBJECT_NAME (This is the name of the business unit i.e. widget A, widget B) Note: The Vendors Table and Master Data do not have a link between them except through the Orders table. I can join all of the data from the tables and it looks something like this: Before selecting latest order date: ORD-005 | Widget A | Acme | 3/14/10 ORD-005 | Widget B | Acme | 3/14/10 ORD-004 | Widget C | Acme | 3/10/10 Ideally I'd like to return the latest order for each vendor. However, each order may contain multiple business units (e.g. types of widgets) so if a Vendor's latest record is ORD-005 and the order contains 2 business units, here's what the result set should look like by the following columns: UNIQUE_DOC_NAME, BIZ_UNIT_OBJECT_NAME, VENDOR_OBJECT_NAME, CREATED_AT After selecting by latest order date: ORD-005 | Widget A | Acme | 3/14/10 ORD-005 | Widget B | Acme | 3/14/10 I tried using Select Max and several variations of sub-queries but I just can't seem to get it working. • Obtaining YouTube video ID in a URL and inputting selected video ID into a URL

  I've been having trouble in trying to figure this out. What I am trying to do is, obtain the ID of a video from YouTube, and input the 11 character ID into the css of a div of a specific id by using jquery. Which, would then also replace the original div (div id="304817679"). Am I on the right track with my script? I'm entirely new to this, and I would appreciate some of the help that's offered here.

  Hi All. I have a problem with Jquery UI modal dialogs. I have modal dialog (dialogA), which can create another modal dialog (dialogB). After the second creation and closure of the dialogB the overlay of dialogA disappear. • How do I reset a form in an ajax callback?

  I am sending a form using simple ajax and returning the results in a div above the form. The problem is that after the form is submitted and validated, I display a thank you and want to reset the form so they don't just press the submit button again... Can't seem to find the right code to do this... <form id="myForm" target="sendemail.php" method="post"> <div id="results"></div> <input type="text" name="value1"> <input type="text" name="value2"> <input type="submit" name="submit"> </form> So, my sendemail.php validation errors and success messages appear in #results without problems. But... when I try to send back a javascript form reset command, it does not work. Naturally I cannot see it in the source code since it is an AJAX callback so I don't know if that is the issue or if I am just using the wrong syntax. echo "<p>Thank you. • datepicker value is blank when disabled, jquery

  Hi. I'm fairly new to jQuery. I have a Jquery datepicker in a user control. I have added a "disable" property to the datepicker. Whenever I save the page(having this usercontrol) the datepicker with disable set to true is empty. All other datepickers save fine. Here is my code.   Update I am making this a community wiki, for three reasons: I don't feel like I got a definitive answer, but I have long since stopped needing an answer, because I rolled my own accordion function this question gets tons of views, so clearly lots of people are still interested So if anybody wants to change/clarify this question and make it a definitive guide, be my guest. I'm working on a page using jQuery's accordion UI element. I modeled my HTML on that example, except that inside the <li> elements, I have some unordered lists of links. Specifically, one accordion menu on the page moves jerkily and has flashes of content. I know that it's not a CSS issue because the same thing happens if I don't include my CSS files. The other accordion menu on the page opens the first section you click and, after that, won't open any of them. Both of these problems are IE-specific, and both go away if I use the option animated: false. But I'd like to keep the default slide animation, since it helps the user understand what the menu is doing. Is there another way?
