  I am trying to implement sync adaptor, I have followed This guide. But onPerformSync() is not triggered after ContentResolver.requestSync() call . I have also tried some other tutorials and tried to run their code, but still same issue. Please tell me does I need to do some extra configuration for this. • Call java program on server through web request

  I need to develop an application where a Java client calls a Java application located on the server with certain parameters, the Java application on the server computes data and sends the data back to the client. Everything needs to go through port 80 on which I have a IIS webserver listening. I cannot open any other port on the server. Is there any way I can do this? The server can write files in a directory that the client can read but I am not sure how to handle the synchronization and I don't know how to call a script on the server from the client through port 80. Every suggestion would be highly appreciated Thanks a lot in advance, this problem is making me crazy

  I'm using Sails and I when I attempt to call the login action of my UsersController. I know my routing is working, because the console.log successfully logs both the loginpassword and loginname. However, the res.view() doesn't work. Likewise for Child2, with a peer of type Child2. The problem is, on the assignment of the peer property in the parent class. I can't construct a new Child class by calling new Child1() because then it wouldn't work for Child2. How can I do this? Is there a keyword that I can use that would refer to the child class? Something like new self()?

  Hello, I was expecting the below scenario common, but couldn't find much help online. I have a form loaded through Ajax (say, create entity form). That is the ajax post operation succeeds if it calls from a static html file. But if I chain the requests (after completing the first), so that it calls from the output form generated by the first request, nothing happens. I could see the post method is called through firebug. Is there a better way to handle above flow? One more interesting thing I noticed. As you could see, I use grails as my platform. If I keep the javascripts in the main.gsp (master layout), the submit event would not register as the breakpoint is not hit in firebug. But, if I define the javascript in the template file (which renders the form above), the breakpoint is hit, but as I explained, the action is not called at the controller. I changes the javascript to the head section but same result. any help greatly appreciated. thanks, Babu.

• Named query not known error trying to call a stored proc using Fluent NHibernate

  I'm working on setting up NHibernate for a project and I have a few queries that, due to their complexity, we will be leaving as stored procedures. I'd like to be able to use NHibernate to call the sprocs, but have run into an error I can't figure out. Since I'm using Fluent NHibernate I'm using mixed mode mapping as recommended here. However, when I run the app I get a "Named query not known: AccountsGetSingle" exception and I can't figure out why. I think I might have a problem with my HBM mapping since I'm not very familiar with using them but I'm not sure.   I've run into a strange issue with Webkit based browsers (both Safari and Chrome - I'm testing on a Mac) and I am not sure what is causing it. What I am trying to accomplish is: submit the form call another script to get status on the file being uploaded via the form (it's for a small upload progress meter).   Hi, I am having trouble with debugging one of the problems that I am having in our website. This is the problem. I have a webpage that contains the photo of an employee and information related to the employee. When the user logins to our website, we are storing the details of the employee in session. I am setting the image url for the photo of an employee as follows. imgEEPhoto.ImageUrl = imgPhoto.aspx?Company=XXXX&Empno=YYYY. Inside the page imgPhoto.aspx, I am checking if the session is alive for that user. when I login to the page that has the employee photo sometimes the photo is not displayed. It is because I am checking whether the session is alive inside the imgPhoto.aspx page. sometimes the session is alive and sometimes the session is not alive. It looks like there is some function that is setting the session to null asynchronously. I am not knowing how to track that function. so I am thinking that inside the imgPhoto.aspx page, if I can get the list of all functions that have been executed so far, I could track the function that is resetting the session. Is there a way to find this? If there is no another way to debug this problem, please let me know. Thanks, sridhar.

  I have a problem with my self-coded template system. The content is inserted by Include(). Now I need to add a meta redirect to one page. I know, meta redirect is not the safest way, but I need it because of it's delay possibility. Now i'm looking for a way to influence the wrapping page (template) by the wrapped page (content). • How to make an AJAX call immediately on document loading

  I want to execute an ajax call as soon as a document is loaded. What I am doing is loading a string that contains data that I will use for an autocomplete feature. This is what I have done, but it is not calling the servlet. I have removed the calls to the various JS scripts to make it clearer. • Extjs - Loading Grid when call

  I have form and grid. the user must enter data in form fields then display related records in the grid. I want to implement a search form, e.g: user will type the name and gender of the student, then will get a grid of all students have the same name and gender. So, I use ajax to send form fields value to PHP and then creat a json_encode wich will be used in grid store. I am really not sure if my idea is good. But I haven't found another way to do that. The problem is when I set autoLoad to true in the store, the grid automatically filled with all data - not just what I asked for - So, I understand that I have to set autoLoad to false, but then the result not shown in the grid even it returned successfully in the firebug! I don't know what to do. • Using SMO to call Database.ExecuteNonQuery() concurrently?

  I have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how I can run update scripts concurrently against multiple databases in a single SQL Server instance using SMO. Our environments have an ever-increasing number of databases which need updating, and iterating through one at a time is becoming a problem (too slow). From what I understand SMO does not support concurrent operations, and my tests have bore that out. There seems to be shared memory at the Server object level, for things like DataReader context, keeps throwing exceptions such as "reader is already open." I apologize for not having the exact exceptions I am getting. I will try to get them and update this post. I am no expert on SMO and just feeling my way through to be honest. Not really sure I am approaching it the right way, but it's something that has to be done, or our productivity will slow to a crawl. So how would you guys do something like this? Am I using the wrong technology with SMO? All I am wanting to do is execute sql scripts against databases in a single sql server instance in parallel. Thanks for any help you can give, Daniel

• Client side page call/scrape?

  Here is the problem: I have a web application - a frequently changing notification system - that runs on a series of local computers. The application refreshes every couple of seconds to display the new information. The computers only display info, and do not have keyboards or ANY input device. The issue is that if the connection to the server is lost (say updates are installed and a server must be rebooted), a page not found error is displayed). We must then either reboot all computers that are running this app, OR add a keyboard and refresh the browser, OR try to access each computer remotely and refresh the browser. None of these are good options and result in a lot of frustration. I cannot change the actual application OR server environment. So what I need is some way to test the call to the application, and if an error is returned or it times out, continue trying every minute or so until the connection is reestablished. My idea is to create a client-side page scraper, that makes a JS request to the application (which displays basic HTML), and can run locally on the machine, no server required. If the scrape returns the correct content, it displays it. If not it continues to request the page until the actual page content is returned. Is this possible? What is the best way to do it?

• Call from a singleton class to a function which in turn calls that class's method

  Hello, I am still looking for a way to phrase it properly (I'm not a native speaker...). So I have this class SQL which implements the singleton pattern (for obvious reasons) and I also have this function, checkUsr(), which queries the database using one of SQL's methods. Everything works fine as long as I don't call checkUsr() from within the SQL class. When I do so, the scripts just exits and a blank page is displayed - no errors are returned, no exception is thrown... What's happening? And how do I work around this problem? • 12.04 upgrade broke grub? (not wubi related)

  I just updated from 11.10 to 12.04, with no major problems (it took a while to get past a request to restart ssh, mysql and some other services, but I did no fiddling by myself, everything was done by the installer). However, after restarting, grub can't do anything. Picking the new linux installation (first entry), I just get error: no such partition error: no such partition error: no such partition and picking the recovery-version just gives 5 lines instead of 3. I have windows 7 installed on a different drive, and can run it by booting from that drive instead. Picking it from the grub menu gives the same error as above (can't remember how many lines, though). I'll be honest and say that I don't remember if win 7 could be booted from grub before the update, though. In short, nothing on the grub menu works. any solutions? The grub menu changed appearance - before it was on a purple background, small letters, now it's white-on-black, big letters, looking very basic. The original installation was from a usb-drive, and I hadn't heard about wubi until I started googling this problem, so I doubt there's any connection. I really hope there are some grub-savvy people out there :) EDIT: ok. so, I made a bootable usb, and am running from that right now. when I ran the bootinfoscript, it warned me that "gawk" could not be found, using "busybox awk" instead. This may lead to unreliable results. just so you know. • Upgrading 13.04 to 13.10, could not calculate the upgrade

  I am running sudo update-manager -d and start the upgrade process. I select upgrade option and when then manager enters Setting new software channels it throws an error. Could not calculate the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. I have disabled all unofficial and third party packages, I am not running a pre-release version since I am at 13.04 and I am trying to update to beta 2 which is not a pre-release. Before I fill a bug report, since its happening to both of my systems I would like to figure out if anyone else had same issues.

What does it mean? I need your comment and responses on these points. Is not using JavaScript and switching to libraries like jQuery worth it?

• Making a Job Change That's Easy Why Not Try a Career Change

  A few nights ago I received a comment on one of our blog posts that reminded me of a statistic that I heard a while back. The statistic reflected the change in our views towards work and showed how while people in past generations would stay in one role for their working career - now with so much choice people not only change jobs often but also change careers 4-5 times in their working life. To differentiate between a job change and a career change: when I say job change this could be an IT Sales person moving from one IT Sales role to another IT Sales role. A Career change for example would be that same IT Sales person moving from IT Sales to something outside the scope of their industry - maybe to something like an Engineer or Scuba Dive Instructor. The reason for Career changes can be as varied as the people who make them. Someone's motivation could be to pursue a passion or maybe there is a change in their personal circumstances forcing the change or it could be any other number of reasons. I think it takes courage to make a Career change - it can be easy to stay in your comfort zone and do what you know, but to really push yourself sometimes you need to try something new, it is a matter of making that career transition as smooth as possible for yourself. This could be anything from going from I.T. to Journalism, Engineering to Teaching or any combination of career you can think of. I don't think there ever has been a time where we have had so many opportunities to do so many different things in our working life. While this idea sounds great in theory, putting it into practice would be much harder to do I think. First, in an increasingly competitive job market, employers tend to look for specialists in their field. You may want to make a change but your options may be limited by the number of employers willing to take a chance on someone new to an industry that will likely require a significant investment in time to get brought up to speed. Also, using myself as an example if I was given the opportunity to move into Journalism/Communication/Marketing career from my career as an IT Recruiter - realistically I would have to take a significant pay cut to make this change as my current salary reflects the expertise I have in my current career. I would not immediately be up to speed moving into a new career and would not be able to justify a similar salary. Yes there are transferable skills in any career change, but even though you may have transferable skills you must realise that you will also have a large amount of learning to do which would take time. These are two initial hurdles that I immediately think of, there may be more but nothing is insurmountable. If you work out what you want to do with your working career whatever that may be, you then need to just need to work out the steps to get to your end goal. This is where utilising the power of your networks and using Social Media can come in handy. If you are interested in working somewhere why not proactively take the opportunity to research the industry or company - find out who it is you need to speak to and get in touch with them. We spend so much time working, we should enjoy the work we do and not be afraid to try new things. Waiting for your dream job to fall into your lap or be handed to you on a silver platter is not likely going to happen, so if there is something you do want to do, work out a plan to make it happen and chase after it. • Another sound not working post

  Tried all the other "sound not working" posts i think, lost count. purge/reinstall alsa and pulse, reboot, add user to audio group, various lines in the alsa config file such as "options snd-hda-intel model=" then tried different options like generic, auto, basic, default, etc. tried pulseaudio -k && sudo alsa force-reload a few times, with and without rebooting. Hardware: 16gb ram, core I7-4790, Intel Haswell mboard with onboard sound and graphics Multimedia: Audio Adapter: HDA-Intel-HDA Intel HDMI OS: Ubuntu server 14.04 with ubuntu-desktop installed.
