My website doesn't have frequent content updates. How to add relevant, fresh content (via Google news, etc. ) into my website so that search engines index it often.
Is there any message forum/board software (open source or commercial) that allows one to post a question from MS Outlook? I read Kubi Software Inc had this feature. However, a google search for their website seems like the company is no more.
Thanks,
In what other software-related technologies is the term clientlet used, besides the Lobo browser project? Google search yielded nothing of use, it returns client let as part of non-related phrases, not as an unitary term.
I was re-reading Joel's Strategy Letter II: Chicken and Egg problems and came across this fun quote:
In fact, WordStar was ported to DOS
by changing one single byte in the
code. (Real Programmers can tell you
what that byte was, I've long since
forgotten).
I couldn't find any other references to this with a quick Google search. Is this true or just a figure of speech? In the interest of my quest to become a "Real Programmer", what was the single byte change?
I am using UIWebView as a web browser on my application and when I open an url with my browser and return back to the main view, then go to browser view, my webview doesn't save the content. So, if I go to google.com and switch views, then again go to the browser view, I have to type the url again to open the webpage! How can I save the web browser's content?
I have a searchbox with auto-suggest that pops a div up underneath it with multiple search string suggestions (like google). Is it possible to have drop shadow on the auto-suggest box with CSS or will I need a script of some sort? I tried a background image but the number of suggests can vary from 1 to 10 or 15.
I'd prefer something that works in IE6+ and FF2+ if possible. Thanks!
Google's query syntax allows to search phrases like "as * as a skyscraper" where the asterisk can match any term (or terms). Is there a way to achieve the same thing in Lucene? The proximity operator ~ could be of use but it is not what I exactly want.
Hi
I use parse_url() to get the path of a url but i want to remove the first slash & the last if it's exists.
Example:
"/posts/funny-dog/" -> "posts/funny-dog"
"/" -> "" // Because http://www.google.com/ path is a slash
"/categories/politic" -> "categories/politics"
Thanks
Today we have built an console application for running scheduled tasks for our ASP.NET website. But I think this appoach is a bit error prone and difficult to maintain. How do you execute you scheduled task (in an windows/IIS/ASP.NET env.)
Update:
Examples of tasks:
Sending email from an emial-queue in the database
Removing utdated objects from the database
Retreiving stats from google adwords and fill a table in the database.
I am really amazed with the implementation of such scroll bars. Google also uses something very similar to this. Can someone give me some idea how to do this using jquery.
Okay... Seems i can't find it with google... so here you go SO ;)
How do i empty the drupal caches:
without the Devel module
without running some PHP Statement in a new node etc.
without going into the database itself
Effectively, how do you instruct a luser to clear his caches

I have been searching around using Google but I can't find an answer to this question.
A robots.txt file can contain the following line:
Sitemap: http://www.mysite.com/sitemapindex.xml
but is it possible to specify MULTIPLE sitemap index files in the robots.txt and have the search engines recognize that and crawl ALL of the sitemaps referenced in each sitemap index file? For example, will this work:
Sitemap: http://www.mysite.com/sitemapindex1.xml
Sitemap: http://www.mysite.com/sitemapindex2.xml
Sitemap: http://www.mysite.com/sitemapindex3.xml
We have a legacy VB6 component that was com+/MTS and is used by asp classic. Staff is having trouble with deployment.
Would there be any harm in just using regsvr32 to register the DLL, which will be used by IIS?
Alternatively---I won't touch COM+ with a 10 foot pole--so is there a suitable one line command to register a VB6 component with COM+/MTS using a 11 foot pole? My google fu is failing me.
I want to call ejb from servlet via remote interface. Maybe it is a RTFM question but i cannot find solution via Google or documentation
I use Jboss 4.2, Java 1.6
Thanks for your answer!
Is there any way to make the fonts render as anti aliased in Windows, when using font-face embedding?
http://code.google.com/webfonts looks much better on Ubuntu/Mac, as compared to Windows 7 (tried chrome/firefox)
I would like to replicate the notification sort of system provided with CoreData NSFetchedResultController which with really little enables us to update a tableView based on events such as Insert/Update/Delete of objects represented as Cells.
I'm currently using SQLitePersistentObjects as a Database abstraction layer: http://code.google.com/p/sqlitepersistentobjects/
If you have any idea or something working or at least advices I'd be very happy!
Thank you!
I've found, via Google, numerous people asking the same question, but no solutions. The Python Image Library (PIL) has tools for stepping through an already existing multi-page TIFF, but nothing about creating them.
Libraries would hopefully be available on Windows, for Python 2.6.
If there's some freeware out there which will do the trick, I wouldn't mind seeing it, but I was hoping I could accomplish this in Python.
Hi,
If I have a reference to an external third party JavaScript file on my website, what are the security implications? Can the JavaScript file be used to steal cookies?
One example of this is the Google Analytics JavaScript reference file.
Could the third party technically steal cookies or any other sensitive information from my logged on users (XSS)?
The whole cross domain scripting has me confused sometimes.
Thanks!
I have a quadcore processor and I would really like to take advantage of all those cores when I'm running quick simulations. The problem is I'm only familiar with the small Linux cluster we have in the lab and I'm using Vista at home.
What sort of things do I want to look into for multicore programming with C or Java? What is the lingo that I want to google?
Thanks for the help.
hello:
Do you have objective knowledge about how important is the programming language when evaluating the success of products such as the iphone, IPAD, google, twitter, youtube, etc?
This is more of an open question than a direct one...
anyone out there having issues with kohana and the jquery wisywig plugin? mainly this one: http://code.google.com/p/jwysiwyg/
I'm base64 encoding a JPG in AS3 and passing it to PHP where it would be decoded. It appears that AS3's encodeToBase64String() function and and PHP's base64_decode() function do not use the same algorithm.
Is there a library or API for either language that would allow it to interface with the other? Alternatively, does anyone even know what PHP's default base64 map is? My Google searching is not yielding results.
Hi,
I'm trying to download a file from the internet, but I get the error -3001 back. I've been searching through google but the error doesn't appear on any website, so i have no idea what it means.
Can anyone tell me what the error code "NSURLErrorDomain error -3001" means?
Thanks
I want to know what are the best links in a site are? It may be pagerank wise or popularity wise. For example http://www.pragprog.com is a site. I want to find out what are the most relevant links this site has. The links should not be external pointing links. It should be of the same site. Do google or any similar site can tell such information?
