  • 59 vs 60 hertz on external display via DisplayPort

    Don't know if this is a really specific question or you'll help me out. Please do. I just bought a DeLock DisplayPort cable for my Lenovo T500. Tried to use it with the in-built Intel MHD4500, no use. With the ATI HD3650 (you can switch between the two vga on this machine) I get a normal picture, but only on 59hz. On 60 I get a smaller desktop size (strange). Any idea what can cause this? Will I have any problem if I use the 59hz? (Was using the display with a VGA cable but I get a blurry picture with that (dont matter what device I attach, VGA is like this on this display) and thats why I wanted to change.)

  • Again WPA Connection problem even after changed to latest version ..please help

    I am using hostapd, wireless tools with madwifi for my wireless ap in my board. The WEP, WPA-PSK connections and communications between my board with linux and my desktop PC, Windows XP SP2 (with Olitec USB wireless) are fine. But when I configured the WPA type, the connection seems established but shows the status "TKIP - Key Absent" in the security dialog box. Anyone faced this problem? Am attaching the conf files and the connection status. In the AP side am complaining . Apache listen is set to: Listen 127.0.0.1:80 Listen 192.168.1.5:8056 When i try: Listen 89.103.xxx.yyy:8056 I get message "unexpected end of apache" (I'm using easyphp for windows). Added: When i try to access 89.103.xxx.yyy via browser, it's prompting router request for authorization to access router web-settings. And when i try 89.103.xxx.yyy:8056, browser says that connection timed out =(

  • Registry in Windows7 - appears in powershell, but not regedit

    Hi. My software is writing to the registry (HKCU:\software\classes\clsid\). The key that I'm writing isn't appearing when I go to that location in regedit. However, if I navigate to that location in powershell, then I see ONLY the entry I added, and not the other class ids that I see in regedit. It's almost as if there's two versions of the registry. I'm using Windows7 (moved recently from XP, so there's probably some weird virtualization stuff going on which I've not learnt yet! ;-)). Thanks for any help with this, Dan.

    I'm trying to copy and paste text from a PDF file. However, whenever I paste the original text it is a huge mess of garbled characters.     I've a confusing question for which superuser doesn't seem to have a good answer, and neither google. I'm trying to scp a file from a remote server to my local machine. The command is this scp user@server:/path/to/source/file.gz /path/to/destination The error I get is: scp: /path/to/source/file.gz: No such file or directory user is my username on the server. The command syntax appears fine to me. ssh works fine and I can cd to the file and it doesn't seem to be an access control issue? Thanks; Edit: Thank you John. I spotted the issue. ls returned this: -r--r--r-- 1 nobody users 168967171 Mar 10 2009 /path/to/source/file.gz So, the file was on a read-only file system and user is able to read it but not scp. I just copied the file to a different directory and chown it and worked fine. It would be good if someone can explain why this is the case though.

I have installed emacs and cscope successfully: sudo apt-get install emacs sudo apt-get install cscope then run command in the directory of the source code folder in my terminal, and the index files have been produced. cscope-indexer and add the following stuf in .emacs in home/username folder (require 'xcscope)) ) However, there isn't a short-cut ,'CSCOPE', in the emacs ui and when I use ctrl_c + s to use cscope, emacs said it's undefined. What should i do now to make cscope run.

  • Installing MySQL 5.5 manually on Ubuntu 10.04 server, errors about "/tmp/mysql.sock"

    I've set up an Ubuntu server and wanted to install MySQL 5.5. I've been following these MySQL documentation steps. I have libaio dev installed. Everything went fine until I ran bin/mysqld_safe --user=mysql & It runs into an issue and never returns to the shell. The output of mysqld_safe is logging to /usr/local/mysql/data/host_name.err. When I checked that file, it was complaining about /tmp/mysql.sock. I can unfortunately describe just parts of the error, since before I started right now it deleted all the files I've started installing back then by mistake. Should I change the socket to /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.socket after copying the .cnf file to /etc? I've also checked the /var/run/mysqld directory and there is no mysqld.socket. How do I proceed?     I am writing a general file backup program. It searches the drive for files matching a set of types and then writes them to a folder on the desktop. I wrote it using xcopy on Windows XP but upon learning that xcopy was deprecated in favor of robocopy in Vista and newer, still wanting to maintain compatibility I decided to switch to the non-deprecated copy. This is where the problems begin. I'm trying to fix the copy routine. I thought I had everything sorted out, but it doesn't copy anything. My output is zero files copied for every iteration.   • Is it possible to run pgp 6.5.8 freeware on Windows 7 64 bit machine?

    I am trying to get the PGP Command Line -Freeware Version 6.5.8 by Networks Associates working on a Wndows 7 64 bit machine. Does anyone know if it is possible? I installed it in C:\pgp when i run pgp, it keeps telling me that it can't find the pgp.cfg file. My PGPPATH is defined and set to C:\pgp I have also included this path in my Path variable Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong. The documentation states that: "The first time you start PGP, the software checks to see if the environment variable PGPPATH is defined. If PGPPATH is defined, the software puts the pgp.cfg in the %PGPPATH% directory" Edit: This is most likely a Windows 7 professional folder rights issue, since the file pgp.cfg can't get written. I tried my best given the folder full rights, but im not 100% confident that i did it right. Anyone help me?

  • Excel 2010 filter arrow not showing text values

    I have an odd problem on a tracker spreadsheet I use. All the columns have a filter, but when you click on the filter arrow it doesn't show you a breakdown of all the text values for that column. All it shows is the usual 'sort A to Z/Z to A', but the bottom half of the pop-up screen is blank, where normally you have a list of text values that you can further filter by putting a tick next to each. It only displays (Select All) which you can tick, but its pointless as the column has selected all text values and hasn't been further filtered, which is what I need to do.

  • How does Mac's command line compare to Linux?

    I love Ubuntu Linux - especially the commmand line. But I have to admit that, at least for now, Windows is more user-friendly - there's more software for it, more drivers, and more stuff just works. Knowing that Mac is built on Unix makes me wonder if it's the sweet spot between them. But I wonder: how similar is the Mac command line to Linux's bash? Could I pick right up with using vim and bash scripting and git, etc? Would common commands like changing directories be different? Does anybody know an online "compare and contrast" resource?

    This would be lightning quick in linux, but I'm not familiar enough with windows flavour of batch scripting. Basically I want to look for a series of files matching a certain wildcard, and get the one with the most recent modified date. I've gotten as far as: for %%X in (*.exe) do ( REM Do stuff.... ) But I'm not sure what manner of comparison operators there are, or if there's a better way of doing this. Anyone offer up any good solutions? Ideally it would involve a vanilla install of Vista; so no special trickery like cygwin/etc.

    IDE: NetBeans 6.8 OS: Fedora 12 I have been having this problem for a long time now. NetBeans is almost impossible to use with C/C++, maybe because it was not made for it in first place. Anyways what happens is this: I have this setup for C/C++ But, the programs are displayed like this: It is not able to find any header file!! I know it is a C++ program, the same thing happens with #include <cstdio>. As a result, it is not able to find the definition of printf and fails. Same thing happens with a .c file. Also, gcc works fine from the command line. Did someone face this problem before? What do I need to do to make this work?

  • Couple folders went 'access denied' in Windows. Why and how to fix?

    So, after a failed Windows 7 install, I put XP back on, and had a adrenaline shot when I got an access denied on a couple of my backed up folders. I already tried the instructions here at Microsoft KB, but it didn't fix it. I did add myself with full permissions on the main section of the Security tab, though, and that gave me access into the folder (I could do it in XP Home because of the Windows NT SP4 Security Configuration Manager). However, it appears some subfolders are still inaccessible. Two questions, then. Why exactly did this happen and how do I fix it?
