  • How to get the Jabber ID for a Multi User Chat nick

    - by Kutzi
I'm trying to get the Jabber ID for a nick in a multi user chat, but the following code returns only null: class JabberMUCMessageListenerAdapter implements PacketListener { private final MultiUserChat muc; public JabberMUCMessageListenerAdapter(MultiUserChat muc) { this.muc = muc; } @Override public void processPacket(Packet p) { if (p instanceof Message) { final Message msg = (Message) p; String jid = muc.getOccupant(msg.getFrom()).getJid(); // returns null ... } } } Does anyone know, what I'm doing wrong?

  • Session resume problem with Strophe attach and Ejabberd

    - by Adil
I'm having a lot of difficulty getting strophe's 'attach()' function working. I am working on a social network where users will be surfing pages and at the same time keep their chat connection on. I don't want to reconnect/reauthorize on every page so as per this link (http://groups.google.com/group/strophe/browse_thread/thread/430da5e788278f3a/93c48c88164f382f?show_docid=93c48c88164f382f&fwc=1) i am storing the SID and RID into a cookie onunload. On the next page when i try to use the new SID and RID (after incrementing it by 1) my session is already destroyed. Ejabberd reports "Error on HTTP put. Reason: bad_key" WTF is happening?

  • Ejabberd clustering problem with amazon EC2 server

    - by user353362
Hello Guys! I have been trying to install ejabberd server on Amazons EC2 instance. I am kinds a stuck at this step right now. I am following this guide: http://tdewolf.blogspot.com/2009/07/clustering-ejabberd-nodes-using-mnes... From the guide I have sucessfully completed the Set up First Node (on ejabberd1) part. But am stuck in part 4 of Set up Second Node (on ejabberd2) So all in all, I created the main node and am able to run the server on that node and access its admin console from then internet. In the second node I have installed ejabberd. But I am stuck at point 4 of setting up the node instruction presented in this blog (http://tdewolf.blogspot.com/2009/07/clustering-ejabberd-nodes-using-mnes...). I execute this command " erl -sname ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14 -mnesia dir '"/var/lib/ejabberd/"' -mnesia extra_db_nodes "['ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-02-C8-36']" -s mnesia " on the second server and get a crashing error: root@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14:/var/lib/ejabberd# erl -sname ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14 -mnesia dir '"/var/lib/ejabberd/"' -mnesia extra_db_nodes "['ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-02-C8-36']" -s mnesia {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},"Protocol: ~p: register error: ~p~n",["inet_tcp",{{badmatch,{error,duplicate_name}},[{inet_tcp_dist,listen,1},{net_kernel,start_protos,4},{net_kernel,start_protos,3},{net_kernel,init_node,2},{net_kernel,init,1},{gen_server,init_it,6},{proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3}]}]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},crash_report,[[{pid,<0.21.0},{registered_name,net_kernel},{error_info,{exit,{error,badarg},[{gen_server,init_it,6},{proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3}]}},{initial_call,{net_kernel,init,['Argument__1']}},{ancestors,[net_sup,kernel_sup,<0.8.0]},{messages,[]},{links,[#Port<0.52,<0.18.0]},{dictionary,[{longnames,false}]},{trap_exit,true},{status,running},{heap_size,610},{stack_size,23},{reductions,518}],[]]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},supervisor_report,[{supervisor,{local,net_sup}},{errorContext,start_error},{reason,{'EXIT',nodistribution}},{offender,[{pid,undefined},{name,net_kernel},{mfa,{net_kernel,start_link,[['ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14',shortnames]]}},{restart_type,permanent},{shutdown,2000},{child_type,worker}]}]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},supervisor_report,[{supervisor,{local,kernel_sup}},{errorContext,start_error},{reason,shutdown},{offender,[{pid,undefined},{name,net_sup},{mfa,{erl_distribution,start_link,[]}},{restart_type,permanent},{shutdown,infinity},{child_type,supervisor}]}]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},crash_report,[[{pid,<0.7.0},{registered_name,[]},{error_info,{exit,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}},[{application_master,init,4},{proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3}]}},{initial_call,{application_master,init,['Argument_1','Argument_2','Argument_3','Argument_4']}},{ancestors,[<0.6.0]},{messages,[{'EXIT',<0.8.0,normal}]},{links,[<0.6.0,<0.5.0]},{dictionary,[]},{trap_exit,true},{status,running},{heap_size,233},{stack_size,23},{reductions,123}],[]]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},std_info,[{application,kernel},{exited,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}}},{type,permanent}]} {"Kernel pid terminated",application_controller,"{application_start_failure,kernel,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}}}"} Crash dump was written to: erl_crash.dump Kernel pid terminated (application_controller) ({application_start_failure,kernel,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}}}) root@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14:/var/lib/ejabberd# any idea what going on? • what libraries or platforms should I use to build web apps that provide real-time, asynchronous data

    - by Daniel Sterling
This is a less a question with a simple, practical answer and more a question to foster discussion on the real-time data exchange topic. I'll begin with an example: Google Wave is, at its core, a real-time asynchronous data synchronization engine. Wave supports (or plans to support) concurrent (real-time) document collaboration, disconnected (offline) document editing, conflict resolution, document history and playback with attribution, and server federation. A core part of Wave is the Operational Transformation engine: http://www.waveprotocol.org/whitepapers/operational-transform The OT engine manages document state. Changes between clients are merged and each client has a sane and consistent view of the document at all times; the final document is eventually consistent between all connected clients. My question is: is this system abstract or general enough to be used as a library or generic framework upon which to build web apps that synchronize real-time, asynchronous state in each client? Is the Wave protocol directly used by any current web applications (besides Google's client)? Would it make sense to directly use it for generic state synchronization in a web app? What other existing libraries or frameworks would you consider using when building such a web app? How much code in such an app might be domain-specific logic vs generic state synchronization logic? Or, put another way, how leaky might the state synchronization abstractions be? Comments and discussion welcomed!

  • Chat Invitation using XMPPHP

    - by Nirmal
Is it possible to send chat invitations using XMPPHP? I have successfully setup the messaging system from a CMS, but I am looking for a way to send chat request before the first message is sent. Is it possible to do that in XMPPHP? I am asking this because I could not find any proper documentation for the class. Thank you for any input.

  • Is it right that Strophe.addHandler reads only first node from response?

    - by markcial
    I'm starting to learn strophe library usage and when i use addHandler to parse response it seems to read only first node of xml response so when i receive a xml like that : <body xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/httpbind'> <presence xmlns='jabber:client' from='test2@localhost' to='test2@localhost' type='avaliable' id='5593:sendIQ'> <status/> </presence> <presence xmlns='jabber:client' from='test@localhost' to='test2@localhost' xml:lang='en'> <status /> </presence> <iq xmlns='jabber:client' from='test2@localhost' to='test2@localhost' type='result'> <query xmlns='jabber:iq:roster'> <item subscription='both' name='test' jid='test@localhost'> <group>test group</group> </item> </query> </iq> </body> With the handler testHandler used like that : connection.addHandler(testHandler,null,"presence"); function testHandler(stanza){ console.log(stanza); } It only logs : <presence xmlns='jabber:client' from='test2@localhost' to='test2@localhost' type='avaliable' id='5593:sendIQ'> <status/> </presence> What i am missing? is it a right behaviour? Should i add more handlers to get the other stanzas? Thanks for advance

  • how to start with a voip/public announcement project?

    - by Metiu
The main requirements are: open source solution on Linux support P2P VoIP calls support presence support multicast VoIP announcements (and maybe some way of setting up such a "conference") preferably serverless (maybe the network can get split and I'd need to keep the functionality for all clients that still see each other) I tried looking at telepathy, in particular telepathy-salut, but it seems to be quite a new technology, so it lacks clear/good documentation and/or working examples. I'm also evaluating SIP (e.g. SofiaSIP), but it's working only if connected to a server.

  • pam debugging "check pass; user unknown"

    - by lvc
I am attempting to get Prosody authenticating with its auth_pam module. It is configured to use the pam service name xmpp. The pam.d/xmpp file is copied straight from the one configured for dovecot (originally taken from, I think, dovecot's documentation), which is known to be working: # cat /etc/pam.d/xmpp auth required pam_unix.so nullok debug account required pam_unix.so debug Logging in with dovecot works wonderfully. Logging in with prosody, with exactly the same username and password, causes Prosody to return 'Not authorized', and the following in journalctl -f: Oct 29 22:12:14 riscque.net prosody[9396]: c2s1d010b0: Client sent opening <stream:stream> to riscque.net Oct 29 22:12:14 riscque.net prosody[9396]: c2s1d010b0: Sent reply <stream:stream> to client Oct 29 22:12:14 riscque.net prosody[9396]: [178B blob data] Oct 29 22:12:14 riscque.net unix_chkpwd[9408]: check pass; user unknown Oct 29 22:12:14 riscque.net prosody[9396]: pam_unix(xmpp:auth): conversation failed Oct 29 22:12:14 riscque.net prosody[9396]: pam_unix(xmpp:auth): unable to obtain a password Oct 29 22:12:14 riscque.net prosody[9396]: pam_unix(xmpp:auth): auth could not identify password for [lvc] Oct 29 22:12:14 riscque.net prosody[9396]: riscque.net:saslauth: sasl reply: <failure xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-sasl'><not-authorized/><text>Unable to authorize you with the authentication credentials you&apos;ve sent.</text></failure> This series of errors seems mutually contradictory - first it says "user unknown", but then that it can't obtain the password for lvc - this username certainly exists on the system. What is likely going on here, and how would I debug this further?

  • 501 Error during Libjingle PCP on Amazone EC2 running Openfire

    - by AeroBuffalo
I am trying to implement Google's Libjingle (version: 0.6.14) PCP example and I am getting a 501: feature not implemented error during execution. Specifically, the error occurs after each "account" has connected, been authenticated and began communicating with the other. An abbreviated log of the interaction is provided at the end. I have set up my own jabber server (using OpenFire on an Amazon EC2 server), have opened all of the necessary ports and have added each "account" to the other's roster. The server has been set to allow for file transfers. My being new to working with servers, I am not sure why this error is occur and how to go about fixing it. Thanks in advance, AeroBuffalo P.S. Let me know if there is any additional information needed (i.e. the full program log for either/both ends). • Android - Good alternatives to XMPP or REST for communication between servers and clients?

    - by Ann
Hello I am doing a project. For my project i need to create an Android application. I will use Java and Eclipse. The main idea of app. The application works on environment/location. Example the application needs to pick up on the users location. He should then also be able to communicate with his friends or colleagues which are in the same location. • Any way to have delayed_job execute some run-once code at startup and use across all jobs?

    - by Rob Cameron
So I've got a delayed_job task that pushes some info to an XMPP server. Ideally you create a connection to XMPP once and then constantly push data to it, rather than creating a new connection every time you have some data to send. Is there any kind of facility in delayed_job for running a sort of 'setup' method when a worker starts, have it set some instance variables (like the XMPP connection object) that can then be used by all the jobs that come up? It's okay if each worker runs its own setup method. I just don't want every job (thousands per day) connecting to the XMPP server from scratch every time. Thanks for any help!

  • django + xmppy: send a message to two recipients

    - by Agrajag
I'm trying to use xmpppy for sending jabber-messages from a django-website. This works entirely fine. However, the message only gets sent to the -first- of the recipients in the list. This happens when I run the following function from django, and also if I run it from an interactive python-shell. The weird part though, is that if I extract the -body- of the function and run that interactively, then all the recipients (there's just 2 at the moment) get the message. Also, I do know that the inner for-loop gets run the correct count times (2), because the print-statement does run twice, and return two different message-ids. The function looks like this: def hello_jabber(request, text): jid=xmpp.protocol.JID(settings.JABBER_ID) cl=xmpp.Client(jid.getDomain(),debug=[]) con=cl.connect() auth=cl.auth(jid.getNode(),settings.JABBER_PW,resource=jid.getResource()) for friend in settings.JABBER_FRIENDS: id=cl.send(xmpp.protocol.Message(friend,friend + ' is awesome:' + text)) print 'sent message with id ' + str(id) cl.disconnect() return render_to_response('jabber/sent.htm', locals())

  • KVM Guest with NAT + Bridged networking

    - by Daniel
I currently have a few KVM Guests on a dedicated server with bridged networking (this works) and i can successfully ping the outside ips i assign via ifconfig (in the guest). However, due to the fact i only have 5 public ipv4 ip addresses, i would like to port forward services like so: hostip:port - kvm_guest:port UPDATE I found out KVM comes with a "default" NAT interface, so added the virtual NIC to the Guest virsh configuration then configured it in the Guest, it has the ip address: 192.168.122.112 I can successfully ping 192.168.122.112 and access all ports on 192.168.122.112 from the KVM Host, so i tried to port forward like so: iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 5222 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.122.112:2521 iptables -I FORWARD -m state -d 192.168.122.0/24 --state NEW,RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT telnet KVM_HOST_IP 5222 just hangs on "trying" telnet 192.168.122.112 2521 works [root@node1 ~]# tcpdump port 5222 tcpdump: WARNING: eth0: no IPv4 address assigned tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on eth0, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 65535 bytes 23:43:47.216181 IP 1.152.245.247.51183 > null.xmpp-client: Flags [S], seq 1183303931, win 65535, options [mss 1400,nop,wscale 3,nop,nop,TS val 445777813 ecr 0,sackOK,eol], length 0 23:43:48.315747 IP 1.152.245.247.51183 > null.xmpp-client: Flags [S], seq 1183303931, win 65535, options [mss 1400,nop,wscale 3,nop,nop,TS val 445778912 ecr 0,sackOK,eol], length 0 23:43:49.415606 IP 1.152.245.247.51183 > null.xmpp-client: Flags [S], seq 1183303931, win 65535, options [mss 1400,nop,wscale 3,nop,nop,TS val 445780010 ecr 0,sackOK,eol], length 0 7 packets received by filter 0 packets dropped by kernel [root@node1 ~]# iptables -L Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination ACCEPT all -- anywhere 192.168.122.0/24 state NEW,RELATED,ESTABLISHED Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination All help is appreciated. • How can I implement "real time" messaging on Google AppEngine?

    - by Freed
I'm creating a web application on Google AppEngine where I want the user to be notified a quickly as possible after certain events occour. The problem is similar to say a chat server in that I need something happening on one connection (someone is writing a message in a chat room) to propagate to a number of other connections (other people in that chat room gets the message). To get speedy updates from the server to the client I'm planning on using long polling with XmlHttpRequest, hoping that AppEngine won't interfere other than possibly restriing the timeout. The real problem however is efficient notification between connections on AppEngine. Is there any support for this type of cross connection notification on AppEngine that does not involve busy-waiting? The only tools I can think of to do this at all is either using the data storage (slow) or memcache (unreliable), and none of them would let me avoid busy-waiting. Note: I know about XMPP support on AppEngine. It's related, but I want a browser based solution, sending messages to the users by XMPP is not an option.

  • Google App Engine, Java, and HTTP Performance

    - by polyclef
A friend and I are currently working on a turn-based game with chat with both desktop browser and Android clients, with Google App Engine as the server. We're using the Java API for GAE and using HTTP for communication with the server. We've implemented simple chat functionality, and we're getting undesirable latencies 1-3 seconds from both the browser and Android clients while just posting simple one-word chat messages. My friend thought it would be best to use XMPP instead of HTTP, but we want to use a Google Accounts cookie for authentication from the Android client, and according to the GAE documentation, XMPP clients cannot use a Google Accounts cookie and must use the user's password. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where the latency might be coming from, how to troubleshoot it, and/or what to do about it? Also, is anyone aware of any opensource implementations of chat (or something similar) on GAE done in Java? Can't seem to find any.

  • Getting HAPROXY to redirect http to https in users browser session

    - by Jon
We are currently using a Internet cloud provider to host our SaaS platform. The platform consists of a Firewall - Cloud Provider SLB - - Apache Web Server - HAPROXY SLB - Liferay Platform We have had to use HAPROXY because of an issue with the cloud providers SLB that meant we were unable to use it for load balancing the Liferay platform applications. I have implemented HAPROXY in our secure tier and that seems to do the trick of load balancing the requests quite adequately. However during testing we encountered a functional issue whereby selecting a sub-menu from the web portal resulted in the application hanging, using an http analyser we saw that the request being passed back to the users browser was in http, from discussing this with the software vendor it transpires that the Liferay application has some hard-coded http links, and that other customers have worked around this by using physical NLB's such as F5 and redirecting the http traffic to https. The entry in the HAPROXY logs reads: haproxy[2717]: haproxy[2717]: <Apache Web Agent>:37957 [11/Apr/2013:08:07:00.128] http-uapi uapi/<ServerName> 0/0/0/9/10 200 4912 - - ---- 4/2/1/2/0 0/0 "GET /servicedesk/controller?docommand=renderradform&!key=esd_sfb001_frm_feedback_forms_list&isportalintegratedmode=true&USR=joe.bloggs%40gmail.com&_dc=1365667773097&redirecturl=controller%3Fdocommand%3Drenderbody%26%21key%3DESD_SFB001_FRM_FEEDBACK_FORMS_LIST%26isportalintegratedmode%3Dtrue&sso_token=ALiYv2UqzLsAhSw1ZchRDlCHlq44Bhj9&ONERROR=%2Fweb%2Fjsp%2Fapps%2Fportal-integration-error.jsp&itype=login&slicetoken=NW51O%242aRo%2C_Zz%2476P_9DTtnFmz6%28bhk&AUTOFORWARDURL=controller%3Fdocommand%3Drenderbody%26%21key%3DESD_SFB001_FRM_FEEDBACK_FORMS_LIST%26isportalintegratedmode%3Dtrue&LOGINPAGE=https%3A%2F%2F<FQDN of Web Portal>%2Fweb%2F4732cf01-82c3-4bc5-b6c9-552253e672cf%2Fworkflow-tools&appid=1&!uid=1&!redownloadToken=7.0.3.1.1363611301.0&userlocale=en_US&!datechanged=2012-05-18%2015:05:31.38 HTTP/1.1" :37957 [11/Apr/2013:08:07:00.128] http-uapi uapi/<ServerName> 0/0/0/9/10 200 4912 - - ---- 4/2/1/2/0 0/0 "GET /servicedesk/controller?docommand=renderradform&!key=esd_sfb001_frm_feedback_forms_list&isportalintegratedmode=true&USR=joe.bloggs%40gmail.com&_dc=1365667773097&redirecturl=controller%3Fdocommand%3Drenderbody%26%21key%3DESD_SFB001_FRM_FEEDBACK_FORMS_LIST%26isportalintegratedmode%3Dtrue&sso_token=ALiYv2UqzLsAhSw1ZchRDlCHlq44Bhj9&ONERROR=%2Fweb%2Fjsp%2Fapps%2Fportal-integration-error.jsp&itype=login&slicetoken=NW51O%242aRo%2C_Zz%2476P_9DTtnFmz6%28bhk&AUTOFORWARDURL=controller%3Fdocommand%3Drenderbody%26%21key%3DESD_SFB001_FRM_FEEDBACK_FORMS_LIST%26isportalintegratedmode%3Dtrue&LOGINPAGE=https%3A%2F%2F<FQDN of Web Portal>%2Fweb%2F4732cf01-82c3-4bc5-b6c9-552253e672cf%2Fworkflow-tools&appid=1&!uid=1&!redownloadToken=7.0.3.1.1363611301.0&userlocale=en_US&!datechanged=2012-05-18%2015:05:31.38 HTTP/1.1" The corresponding HTTP browser entry shows: http://<FQDN of ServiceDesk>/servicedesk/controller?docommand=renderradform&!key=esd_org019_frm_contact_list&isportalintegratedmode=true&USR=joe.bloggs%40gmail.com&_dc=1365665987887&redirecturl=controller%3Fdocommand%3Drenderbody%26%21key%3DESD_ORG019_FRM_CONTACT_LIST%26isportalintegratedmode%3Dtrue&sso_token=3NxsXYORMPp32SwL8ftVUCMH2QdWLH82&ONERROR=%2Fweb%2Fjsp%2Fapps%2Fportal-integration-error.jsp&itype=login&slicetoken=NW51O%242aRo%2C_Zz%2476P_9DTtnFmz6%28bhk&AUTOFORWARDURL=controller%3Fdocommand%3Drenderbody%26%21key%3DESD_ORG019_FRM_CONTACT_LIST%26isportalintegratedmode%3Dtrue&LOGINPAGE=https%3A%2F%2F<FQDN of Web Portal>>%2Fweb%2F4732cf01-82c3-4bc5-b6c9-552253e672cf%2Fapplication-setup&appid=1&!uid=1&!redownloadToken=7.0.3.1.1363611301.0&userlocale=en_US&!datechanged=2012-10-26%2019:00:25.08 From reading through the forums and other sites it looks like we should be use to use HAPROXY to redirect the traffic to https, but try as I might I cant get it to work.
