  Hi, I am using VS 2003 .Net on 32 bit XP OS. I have also installed "Microsoft Platform SDK" on my machine. Can I build vc++ application (binaries) targeted for 64 bit OS? • Consuming WebSphere service from WCF client: Unable to create AxisService from ServiceEndpointAddres

  I am consuming (or trying to consume) a WebSphere service from a WCF client (service reference + bindings generated through svcutil). Connection seems to be established successfully but I am getting the following error: CWWSS7200E: Unable to create AxisService from ServiceEndpointAddress [address] Rings any bell? I am guessing the request format is somehow being rejected by the service, I am sniffing it with fiddler and it looks fine overall (can post if ppl think it could help). Found this article, but it doesn't seem to apply to my case. Any help appreciated!

• Reporting Services 2010 RDLC: Passing Querystring Parameters from an RDLC

  I'm trying to build a simple RDLC report that shows some data, and has a 'select' link that sends the browser off to a certain url with some data in the querystring (a key). In the vs2010 report designer, I can double-click on the column, then select action, and there are a bunch of thigns that seem like they might work. But none of them do. Under 'enable as a hyperlink' I can pick 'go to url' but there aren't any parameter options to pass. I also tried 'go to report' on the off chance that I could trick it into doing what I want. Here there are parameter options, but it knows that my url is not a report and the "select" link renders as text (not clickable). Any ideas? I'm pretty sure this used to work in vs2008, and it seems like something that must be doable. But I've been pulling out my hair for several hours on this one.

• XP Deploying issues due to msvcr90.dll trying to load FlsAlloc

  I have an application build with VS2008 SP1a (9.0.30729.4148) on Windows 7 x64 that does not want to start under XP. The message is The application failed to initialize properly (0x80000003). Click on OK to terminate the application.. I checked with depends.exe and found that msvcr90.dll does try to load FlsAlloc from KERNEL32.dll - and FlsAlloc is available only starting with Vista. I'm sure it is not used by the application. How to solve the issue? • TFS - Rebinding solution to new TFS when prior TFS no longer available

  The prior instance of TFS I was using is no longer available and I have a test project I want to bind to the new instance of TFS. However, when I try to add the solution to source control, the error message tells me that the collection is not available on the server. I have deleted all old source control files, and it still has the old bindings somewhere. Does anyone know how to remove ALL bindings so I can just simply start over again with a new instance of TFS? Thanks.

• SGEN doesn't work after upgrading from VS2008 to VS2010

  I just recently upgraded a VS2008/.NET 3.5 SP1 project to VS2010 and .NET 4. I have a post-build event which calls SGEN to generate the XmlSerializers assembly. Whenever I try to run it I get the following error. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin\sgen.exe" /debug /force /verbose /c:"platform:x86" "C:\path\to\SomeAssembly.dll" Microsoft (R) Xml Serialization support utility [Microsoft (R) .NET Framework, Version 2.0.50727.3038] Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Error: An attempt was made to load an assembly with an incorrect format: c:\path\to\someassembly.dll. - Could not load file or assembly 'file:///c:\path\to\someassembly.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. If you would like more help, please type "sgen /?". I get the same error running SGEN from the command line, but I can't figure out what the problem is. Any ideas?

• How to Link VS2010 Database Project and LINQ to SQL

  As I am working with the new database projects in VS2010, and as I am learning LINQ to SQL, I am curious as to the best way to link the two groups of information so that when I update one, the other updates along with it. From my research here at SO, as well as in Google, it appears the general rule of thumb is: "Build the database, and then create your LINQ to SQL classes." Of course, if I make a change in my database, the LINQ to SQL doesn't update automatically and I have to do it by hand. This is fairly simple right now as my database is small, but I am curious if there is an easier way for this to happen. In addition, the LINQ to SQL tool is pretty nice. The ability to create tables, add associations, and even create inheritance is very simple. As my second question, I am curious as to whether or not VS2010 can work the other way - I design the database in the DBLM file and then link it back to my database project. I appreciate any help with either of these two questions. I'm really interested in making this as easy as possible to reduce errors during development and improve the speed at which changes can be made.

  I have an issue with log4net which has been bugging me for a while and I've resolved to sort it. I have a class library which references log4net. If I reference this class library in another project I must then reference log4net in this project otherwise I get a build error Unknown build error, 'Cannot resolve dependency to assembly 'log4net, Version=1.2.10.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=1b44e1d426115821' because it has not been preloaded. When using the ReflectionOnly APIs, dependent assemblies must be pre-loaded or loaded on demand through the ReflectionOnlyAssemblyResolve event.'   The full error is as follows: The type 'System.Windows.Forms.Control' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. and it points at the very first statement (an Debug.Assert line) in the very first class in a library project that doesn't need System.Windows.Forms (or so I thought). I know how to solve it: add the mentioned reference. But how do I find out what library is causing this error, or better, what part of the code triggers using the WinForms library? Normally, you can add libraries that reference others, but you only need to add references to these others when they're actually used. EDIT: Alternative solution This or similar problems can also be resolved using the Binding Log Viewer Fuslogvw.exe from Microsoft's Framework Tools. It shows all attempts and successes of assemblies your application binds to.

  I am using CodeBlocks and MinGW toolchain which is essentially GCC. I was using VStudio but I want to get away from it to do cross platform development. There seems to be some microsoft specific references in some libraries that I am linking, specifically in CXImage SDK (_chkstk). I presume the library was put together using VS. From my searches I have learned that GCC uses _alloca rather than _chkstk. I still want to use CXImage for some stuff I am doing. My question: Is there a way around this problem or am I stuck with ditching libs such as this if I want to use GCC?

• How to change VS2010 Add Reference box filter ?

  I'm getting used to the new IDE (it's vc# express), but the first contact is somewhat confusing. When I open the Add Reference dialog and switch to the .NET tab, a label above the assembly list states: "Filtered to:.NET Framework 4". And it's true - I can reference .NET 4.0 assemblies only plus things like XNA 3.1. However I can't see older assemblies i.e. Managed DirectX libs, which are obviously installed on my computer as there was no trouble with adding a ref to them in vc#08. What is this? How to change the filter? The label is read-only. These sound like dull guy's questions, but I'm out of lack of finding an answer and there is no intuitive solution. Thanks in advance.

  I'm unit testing my routes in ASP.NET MVC 2. I'm using MSTest and I'm using areas as well. When I call AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas() however, it throws this exception: System.InvalidOperationException: System.InvalidOperationException: This method cannot be called during the application's pre-start initialization stage.. OK, so I reckon I can't call it from my class initializer. But when can I call it? I don't have an Application_Start in my test obviously.

  I want to learn to use Fluent NHibernate, and I'm working in VS2010 Beta2, compiling against .NET 4, but I'm experiencing some problems. Summary My main problem (at the moment) is that the namespace FluentNHibernate isn't available even though I've imported all the .dll assemblies mentioned in this guide. This is what I've done: 1. I downloaded the Fluent NHibernate source from here, extracted the .zip and opened the solution in VS. A dialog asked me if I wanted to convert the solution to a VS2010 solution, so I did. 2. I then went into each project's properties and configured all of them to compile for .NET 4, and built the entire solution. 3. I copied all the .dll files from /bin/Debug/ in the FluentNHibernate to a new folder on my local hard drive. 4. In my example project, I referenced FluentNHibernate.dll and NHibernate.dll from the new folder. This is my problem: If I right-click on FluentNHibernate in the References list and select "View in Object Browser...", it shows up correctly. Now, when I try to create a mapping class, I can't import FluentNHibernate. This code: using FluentNHibernate.Mapping; namespace FluentNHExample.Mappings { } generates an error on the using statement, saying The type or namespace 'FluentNHibernate' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?). The FluentNHibernate assembly is still in the list of References of my project, but if I try to browse the assembly in Object Browser again, it can't be found. What is causing this?

  I have a website that uses AjaxControlToolkit.dll and Log4Net.dll; When I try to run the performance profiling tool in VS 2010 on it it gives me the following warnings "AjaxControlToolkit.dll is signed and instrumenting it will invalidate its signature. If you proceed without a post-instrument event to re-sign the binary it may not load correctly". Now, if I choose the option to continue without re-signing the profiling starts but the assembly doesn't load and gives an ASP.NET exception.

  I have a simple PoC project in Hudson. The PoC has unit tests written via UnitTest++ and outputs the results as XML for consumption by xUnit to munge into jUnit format. Here are the salient relevant I have my project configured to use MSBuild to build the 2008 solution. The project contains both the dll it is to build and the unit tests which are run as a post-build step. My workspace in Hudson is set to c:\develop\money (Money is the name of the project) and in the Hudson console I can see the workspace folders, the solution file and output folders (/bin, /doc, etc). The test console app outputs its file 'money_unit_tests.xml' to the folder 'reports' (making c:\develop\money\reports). I've restarted Hudson since installing xUnit and setting the workspace. However when I start Hudson building I am given the following message: [xUnit] Starting to record. [xUnit] [UnitTest] - Use the embedded style sheet. [xUnit] [ERROR] - No test report file(s) were found with the pattern 'reports/money_unit_tests.xml' relative to 'C:\.hudson\jobs\Money\workspace' for the testing framework 'UnitTest'. Finished: FAILURE Why does Hudson seem to think the workspace is in C:.hudson... and not C:\Develop...? What can I do change it? If I can't change it, what can I do to mitigate these changes? (I don't exactly want to hardcode the output for the xml to C:.hudson...)

  Hi there, i recently installed some snippets that come with the mvvm-light framework i am using. And sure enought i checked via Tools > Code Snippet Manager and they are installed under "My Code Snippets". If i do insert Snipper (right click in code window) or CTRL K + CTRL X then i can search within all available snippets.... But i do believe its possible to just type the shortcut key (in this case it is mvvmlocatorproperty) and pressing tab inserts the snippet BUT when i type the shortcut key it is not recognizing anything... What am i doing wrong?? This is not an incompatibility with resharper 5? - which i have installed Any ideas really appreciated

In my scenario, I'm wanting to do this in a unit testing scenario where I want to rollback practically everything I do within my unit testing context to keep from updating the data in the database (yeah, we'll increment counters but that's okay). In order to do this, is it best to follow the following plan?
