  • Connecting to a SQL Server Compact Edition (.sdf) from an MFC application

    - by Hazerd
Hey ! I'm building an MFC app in Visual Studio 2008 which classifies textures and I need some sort of lightweight database to hold the characteristics (just some doubles and strings) which can be: -carried around with the app on different computers; -be able to perform queries on it from the app (searches , updates ,inserts ,etc); Currently I'm looking into SQL compact edition because it was very easy to create from Visual Studio ( I also need only one table) but I having a hard time connecting and updating the db from C++. This is what I've found on msdn regarding C++ and SQLCE: public: void createSqlCeConnection(){ SqlCeConnection* myConnection = new SqlCeConnection(); myConnection->ConnectionString = "DataSource = blabla.sdf"; MessageBox::Show(String::Format( S"Connection State: {0}", __box(myConnection->State))); } Unfortunately my experience with .net apps is pretty limited. Hopefully you bright minds could tell me if I'm on the right path and what links and includes should I add for this to work with an C++ MFC projects. Thanks !

  • ASP.NET Web Page Not Available

    - by hahuang65
It's pretty difficult to show code for ASP.NET here, so I will try my best to describe my problem. I have a FileUploadControl and a Button that calls a function when it's clicked. It seems that the Button function works when there is nothing chosen for my FileUploadControl. However, when there is something chosen in the FileUploadControl (I have selected a file to upload), there is a problem when I click the button. It completely does not matter what the function does (it could just be writing to a label, even when it has nothing to do with the FileUploadControl). The error I get is: This webpage is not available. The webpage at http://localhost:2134/UploadMedia/Default.aspx might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. I have searched on Google, and people seem to have had problems with this, but different causes from me. They have said that their ASP.NET Development Server port is actually different from their port in the address bar. This is not the case for me. Also, another problem people have had is with Use Dynamic Ports. I have tried both true and false. I have also tried different ports, and I have always gotten the same error. This is really driving me crazy because it doesn't matter what the code in the buttonFunction is, it doesn't work as long as there is something in the FileUploadControl. If there is nothing, it seems to work fine. Here is the code for the ASP.NET Controls: <asp:FileUpload id="FileUploadControl" runat="server" /> <asp:Button runat="server" id="UploadButton" text="Upload" OnClick="uploadClicked" /> <br /><br /> <asp:Label runat="server" id="StatusLabel" text="Upload status: " /> And this is the code for the button function: protected void uploadClicked(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (FileUploadControl.HasFile) { string filename = Path.GetFileName(FileUploadControl.FileName); //Check if the entered username already exists in the database. String sqlDupStmt = "Select songPath from Songs where songPath ='" + Server.MapPath("~/Uploads/") + filename + "'"; SqlConnection sqlDupConn = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source = .\SQLEXPRESS; AttachDbFilename = |DataDirectory|\Database.mdf; Integrated Security = True; User Instance = True;"); SqlCommand sqlDupCmd = new SqlCommand(sqlDupStmt, sqlDupConn); sqlDupCmd.Connection.Open(); SqlDataReader sqlDupReader = sqlDupCmd.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseConnection); if (sqlDupReader.Read()) { StatusLabel.Text = "Upload status: The file already exists."; sqlDupReader.Close(); } else { sqlDupReader.Close(); //See "How To Use DPAPI (Machine Store) from ASP.NET" for information about securely storing connection strings. String sqlStmt = "Insert into Songs values (@songpath);"; SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source = .\SQLEXPRESS; AttachDbFilename = |DataDirectory|\Database.mdf; Integrated Security = True; User Instance = True; uid=sa; pwd=password;"); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(sqlStmt, sqlConn); SqlParameter sqlParam = null; //Usage of Sql parameters also helps avoid SQL Injection attacks. sqlParam = cmd.Parameters.Add("@userName", SqlDbType.VarChar, 150); sqlParam.Value = Server.MapPath("~/Uploads/") + filename; //Attempt to add the song to the database. try { sqlConn.Open(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); FileUploadControl.SaveAs(Server.MapPath("~/Uploads/") + filename); songList.Items.Add(filename); StatusLabel.Text = "Upload status: File uploaded!"; } catch (Exception ex) { StatusLabel.Text = "Upload status: The file could not be uploaded. The following error occured: " + ex.Message; } finally { sqlConn.Close(); } } } } But this buttonfunction provides the same results: protected void uploadClicked(object sender, EventArgs e) { StatusLabel.Text = "FooBar"; } Has anyone had this problem before, or might know what the cause is? Thanks!

  • adding nodes to a binary search tree randomly deletes nodes

    - by SDLFunTimes
    Hi, stack. I've got a binary tree of type TYPE (TYPE is a typedef of data*) that can add and remove elements. However for some reason certain values added will overwrite previous elements. Here's my code with examples of it inserting without overwriting elements and it not overwriting elements. the data I'm storing: struct data { int number; char *name; }; typedef struct data data; # ifndef TYPE # define TYPE data* # define TYPE_SIZE sizeof(data*) # endif The tree struct: struct Node { TYPE val; struct Node *left; struct Node *rght; }; struct BSTree { struct Node *root; int cnt; }; The comparator for the data. int compare(TYPE left, TYPE right) { int left_len; int right_len; int shortest_string; /* find longest string */ left_len = strlen(left->name); right_len = strlen(right->name); if(right_len < left_len) { shortest_string = right_len; } else { shortest_string = left_len; } /* compare strings */ if(strncmp(left->name, right->name, shortest_string) > 1) { return 1; } else if(strncmp(left->name, right->name, shortest_string) < 1) { return -1; } else { /* strings are equal */ if(left->number > right->number) { return 1; } else if(left->number < right->number) { return -1; } else { return 0; } } } And the add method struct Node* _addNode(struct Node* cur, TYPE val) { if(cur == NULL) { /* no root has been made */ cur = _createNode(val); return cur; } else { int cmp; cmp = compare(cur->val, val); if(cmp == -1) { /* go left */ if(cur->left == NULL) { printf("adding on left node val %d\n", cur->val->number); cur->left = _createNode(val); } else { return _addNode(cur->left, val); } } else if(cmp >= 0) { /* go right */ if(cur->rght == NULL) { printf("adding on right node val %d\n", cur->val->number); cur->rght = _createNode(val); } else { return _addNode(cur->rght, val); } } return cur; } } void addBSTree(struct BSTree *tree, TYPE val) { tree->root = _addNode(tree->root, val); tree->cnt++; } The function to print the tree: void printTree(struct Node *cur) { if (cur == 0) { printf("\n"); } else { printf("("); printTree(cur->left); printf(" %s, %d ", cur->val->name, cur->val->number); printTree(cur->rght); printf(")\n"); } } Here's an example of some data that will overwrite previous elements: struct BSTree myTree; struct data myData1, myData2, myData3; myData1.number = 5; myData1.name = "rooty"; myData2.number = 1; myData2.name = "lefty"; myData3.number = 10; myData3.name = "righty"; initBSTree(&myTree); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData1); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData2); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData3); printTree(myTree.root); Which will print: (( righty, 10 ) lefty, 1 ) Finally here's some test data that will go in the exact same spot as the previous data, but this time no data is overwritten: struct BSTree myTree; struct data myData1, myData2, myData3; myData1.number = 5; myData1.name = "i"; myData2.number = 5; myData2.name = "h"; myData3.number = 5; myData3.name = "j"; initBSTree(&myTree); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData1); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData2); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData3); printTree(myTree.root); Which prints: (( j, 5 ) i, 5 ( h, 5 ) ) Does anyone know what might be going wrong? Sorry if this post was kind of long.

  • java: Preferences API vs. Apache Commons Configuration

    - by Jason S
I need to allow the user to store/load an arbitrary number of lists of objects (assume they are Serializable). Conceptually I want a data model like class FooBean { /* bean stuff here */ } class FooList { final private Set<FooBean> items = new HashSet<FooBean>(); public boolean add(FooBean item) { return items.add(item); } public boolean remove(FooBean item) { return items.remove(item); } public Collection<FooBean> getItems() { return Collections.unmodifiableSet(items); } } class FooStore { public FooStore() { /* something... uses Preferences or Commons Configuration */ } public FooList load(String key) { /* something... retrieves a FooList associated with the key */ } public void store(String key, FooList items) { /* something... saves a FooList under the given key */ } } Should I use the Preferences API or Commons Config? What's the advantages of each?

  • Java Timers - Messing up function called?

    - by Matt Swanson
So I have a TimerTask task calling a function onTimerComplete() in its run() onTimerComplete() looks something like this: private void onTimerComplete(){ myFunc1(); myFunc2(); } I make a Timer t and I schedule the TimerTask with t.schedule(task, 2000); The problem is, when the timer is up and the task runs my onTimerComplete() but that function does not finish. It runs myFunc1() but never finishes it nor does it ever call myFunc2() However, if I call onTimerComplete() directly, everything works. What's the deal here?

  • Visual Studio 2008 built-in web server needs integrated pipeline mode - How?

    - by jdk
Using Visual Studio 2008 and built-in web server. In a Web Handler .ashx file public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { context.Response.ContentType = MimeType_text_xvcard; context.Response.Headers.Add(HttpHeader_ContentLength, "2138"); when I try to add an HTTP header I get the exception: This operation requires IIS integrated pipeline mode. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.PlatformNotSupportedException: This operation requires IIS integrated pipeline mode. I can find information about this error on the Internet but need specific info about how to presumably enable Integrated Pipeline mode (through web.config?) to allow HTTP headers to be manipulated. How do do I put the built-in web server into integrated pipeline mode? Note: Not using full-fledged IIS

  • Why doesn't .NET find the OpenSSL.NET dll?

    - by Lazlo
EDIT (the whole question, it was too unclear) I want to use OpenSSL.NET The OpenSSL.NET install instructions page: INSTALL Make sure you have libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll in the current working directory of your application or in your PATH. DONE In your .NET project, add a reference to the ManagedOpenSsl.dll assembly. DONE I have put libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll in both my bin/Debug and bin/Release directories. I have also put them in system32. Here is my FULL code: using System; namespace ConsoleApplication1 { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { try { OpenSSL.Crypto.RSA rsa = new OpenSSL.Crypto.RSA(); } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine(e.InnerException.Message); } Console.Read(); } } } I get the following error: (Unable to load DLL 'libeay32') Here is the Process Monitor log (upon request): What am I doing wrong? Why isn't the DLL found?

  • gcc returns error with nested class

    - by Nate
Howdy, I am attempting to use the fully qualified name of my nested class as below, but the compiler is balking! template <class T> class Apple { //constructors, members, whatevers, etc... public: class Banana { public: Banana() { //etc... } //other constructors, members, etc... }; }; template <class K> class Carrot{ public: //etc... void problemFunction() { Apple<int>::Banana freshBanana = someVar.returnsABanana(); //line 85 giveMonkey(freshBanana); //line 86 } }; My issue is, the compiler says: Carrot.h:85: error: expected ';' before 'freshBanana' Carrot.h:86: error: 'freshBanana' was not declared in this scope I had thought that using the fully qualified name permitted me to access this nested class? It's probably going to smack me in the face, but what on earth am I not seeing here??

  • Int or NSInteger as object for method argument. Objective-C

    - by sergiobuj
Hi. I'm having some trouble passing a number as an argument for a method: -(void) meth2:(int)next_int; And to call that method i need this: int next_int = 1; [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(meth2:) withObject:next_int waitUntilDone:NO]; //update next_int and call meth2 again at this point i get a "pointer from integer without a cast" error, and would happen the same with a NSInteger. A NSNumber is not useful because it's immutable and i need to change the value constantly. Any Idea how can i do this? Thanks.

  • Check if thread is EDT is necessary?

    - by YuppieNetworking
Hello, I have an UI implemented with Swing. One component does some work that may take some time, so I use SwingUtilities.invokeLater. However, I was reading some old code and found this in an ActionListener: if (!SwingUtilities.isEventDispatchThread()) { SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { // code X } }); } else { // code X } I thought that it made sense since it separates code X from the EDT. However, I found it error-prone since I have used it a couple of times and both times I forgot the else part. The question is: is the SwingUtilities.isEventDispatchThread() checking necessary? Or could I assume that I am not in the EDT and always use invokeLater? Thanks a lot.

  • using WrapCompressedRTFStream in C#

    - by Code Smack
Hello, I am rewording this question: Csharp C# visual studio 2008 How do I use the WrapCompressedRTFStream when using DLLImport with mapi32.dll? • How to include multiple XML files in a single XML file for deserialization by XmlSerializer in .NET

    - by harrydev
Hi, is it possible to use the XmlSerializer in .NET to load an XML file which includes other XML files? And how? This, in order to share XML state easily in two "parent" XML files, e.g. AB and BC in below. Example: using System; using System.IO; using System.Xml.Serialization; namespace XmlSerializerMultipleFilesTest { [Serializable] public class A { public int Value { get; set; } } [Serializable] public class B { public double Value { get; set; } } [Serializable] public class C { public string Value { get; set; } } [Serializable] public class AB { public A A { get; set; } public B B { get; set; } } [Serializable] public class BC { public B B { get; set; } public C C { get; set; } } class Program { public static void Serialize<T>(T data, string filePath) { using (var writer = new StreamWriter(filePath)) { var xmlSerializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(T)); xmlSerializer.Serialize(writer, data); } } public static T Deserialize<T>(string filePath) { using (var reader = new StreamReader(filePath)) { var xmlSerializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(T)); return (T)xmlSerializer.Deserialize(reader); } } static void Main(string[] args) { const string fileNameA = @"A.xml"; const string fileNameB = @"B.xml"; const string fileNameC = @"C.xml"; const string fileNameAB = @"AB.xml"; const string fileNameBC = @"BC.xml"; var a = new A(){ Value = 42 }; var b = new B(){ Value = Math.PI }; var c = new C(){ Value = "Something rotten" }; Serialize(a, fileNameA); Serialize(b, fileNameB); Serialize(c, fileNameC); // How can AB and BC be deserialized from single // files which include two of the A, B or C files. // Using ideally something like: var ab = Deserialize<AB>(fileNameAB); var bc = Deserialize<BC>(fileNameBC); // That is, so that A, B, C xml file // contents are shared across these two } } } Thus, the A, B, C files contain the following: A.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <A xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Value>42</Value> </A> B.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <B xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Value>3.1415926535897931</Value> </B> C.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <C xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Value>Something rotten</Value> </C> And then the "parent" XML files would contain a XML include file of some sort (I have not been able to find anything like this), such as: AB.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <AB xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <A include="A.xml"/> <B include="B.xml"/> </AB> BC.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <BC xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <B include="B.xml"/> <C include="C.xml"/> </BC> Of course, I guess this can be solved by implementing IXmlSerializer for AB and BC, but I was hoping there was an easier solution or a generic solution with which classes themselves only need the [Serializable] attribute and nothing else. That is, the split into multiple files is XML only and handled by XmlSerializer itself or a custom generic serializer on top of this. I know this should be somewhat possible with app.config (as in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/480538/use-xml-includes-or-config-references-in-app-config-to-include-other-config-files), but I would prefer a solution based on XmlSerializer. Thanks.

  • How Gridview co-operates with ObjectDataSource?

    - by sanjuro
Hi, how Gridview co-operates with ObjectDataSource internally? When you set DataSourceID of GridView, assigned ObjectDataSource take care of such things as paging and sorting, but i don't have full control above databinding itself, on the other side when i set datasource of gridview in code-behind: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { testGridView.DataSource = testObjectDataSource.Select(); testGridView.DataBind(); } } Now i have full control, but i have lost the advantage of comfort sorting and paging. And that co-operation between ObjectDataSource and Gridview became mystery for me. So can anybody explain me in details how ObjectDataSource and Gridview co-operates under the hood? I want to understand it in order to write my own smart code or own gridview that will mimic this co-operation. Many thanks for answers.

  • nsstring - out of scope

    - by alexeyndru
-(void)loadWebAdress:(NSString*)textAdress { [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES; adressurl=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://%@", textAdress]; NSURL *url=[NSURL URLWithString:adressurl]; NSURLRequest *requestObj=[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [webview loadRequest:requestObj]; } although url takes it's value from adressurl, adressurl is all the time out of scope when checked in debugger. what is going on? i would like to use it in some other places too. not only in this method. because is out of scope, the app crashes. But, I repeat, it is the one who gives its value to url.

  • ASP.Net GridView GridViewDeleteEventArgs.Keys empty

    - by the berserker
I have following Gridview: <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" CssClass="table" DataKeyNames="groupId" DataSource="<%# dsUserGroupsSelected %>" DataMember="Group" etc....> and after firing RowDeleting event handler: protected void GridView1_RowDeleting(object sender, GridViewDeleteEventArgs e) e.Keys is empty. Moreover, in runtime if I check dsUserGroupsSelected.Group.PrimaryKey it is poulated with: {System.Data.DataColumn[1]} [0]: {groupId} so it's really odd to me. Am I missing something? I have this kind of a workaround: int groupId = (int)GridView1.DataKeys[e.RowIndex].Value; which will work just fine, but I just can't get it why e.Keys (and e.Values) would be empty!? Any ideas?

  • iphone OCMockObject and unit-testing a class that inherits from NSURLConnection

    - by Justin Galzic
I want to unit test the custom init method of a class that inherits from NSURLConnection -- how would I do this if the init of my testable class invokes NSURLConnection's initWithRequest? I'm using OCMock and normally, I can mock objects that are contained within my test class. For this inheritance scenario, what's the best approach to do this? - (void)testInit { id urlRequest = [OCMockObject mockForClass:[NSURLRequest class]]; MyURLConnectionWrapper *conn = [[MyURLConnectionWrapper alloc] initWithRequest:urlRequest delegate:self someData:extraneousData]; } My class is implemented like this: @interface MyURLConnectionWrapper : NSURLConnection { } - (id)initWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request delegate:(id)delegate someData:(NSString *)fooData @end @implementation MyURLConnectionWrapper - (id)initWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request delegate:(id)delegate someData:(NSString *)fooData { if (self = [super initWithRequest:request delegate:delegate]) { // do some additional work here } return self; } Here's the error I get: OCMockObject[NSURLRequest]: unexpected method invoked: _CFURLRequest

I can't seem to find where the bottleneck might be or if this timing sounds about right? Can anyone see anything to why its taking so long?

  • Boost::Asio : io_service.run() vs poll() or how do I integrate boost::asio in mainloop

    - by user300713
Hi, I am currently trying to use boost::asio for some simple tcp networking for the first time, and I allready came across something I am not really sure how to deal with. As far as I understand io_service.run() method is basically a loop which runs until there is nothing more left to do, which means it will run until I release my little server object. Since I allready got some sort of mainloop set up, I would rather like tp update the networking loop manually from there just for the sake of simplicity, and I think io_service.poll() would do what I want, sort of like this: void myApplication::update() { myIoService.poll(); //do other stuff } This seems to work, but I am still wondering if there is a drawback from this method since that does not seem to be the common way to deal with boost::asios io services. Is this a valid approach or should I rather use io_service.run() in a non blocking extra thread?

  • struts2 StringLengthFieldValidator annotation not working for empty string

    - by dcp
Let's say I have this annotation for a struts2 validation: @StringLengthFieldValidator(key = "key14", fieldName = "poNumber", minLength = "1", maxLength = "255", message = "poNumber must be between 1 and 255 characters.") public void setPoNumber(String poNumber) { this.poNumber = poNumber; } The behavior I'm seeing is that if I pass a string that is empty to this setter, (ex. setPoNumber("")) the validator doesn't catch the error. Strings that are over 255 are caught fine. Equally strange is if I change minLength to 2 and pass a string of length 1, it will catch the error as well. But empty string does not seem to be caught when minLength = "1". For this reason, I cannot use this validator. I just wondered if I'm doing something wrong. I'm using struts 2.1.8.1. Thanks for any advice.

  • Are stack based arrays possible in C#?

    - by Bob
Let's say, hypothetically (read: I don't think I actually need this, but I am curious as the idea popped into my head), one wanted an array of memory set aside locally on the stack, not on the heap. For instance, something like this: private void someFunction() { int[20] stackArray; //C style; I know the size and it's set in stone } I'm guessing the answer is no. All I've been able to find is heap based arrays. If someone were to need this, would there be any workarounds? Is there any way to set aside a certain amount of sequential memory in a "value type" way? Or are structs with named parameters the only way (like the way the Matrix struct in XNA has 16 named parameters (M11-M44))?

    - by deepasundarip
Hi, I m overriding a mousewheel event in vc++ class and try to trigger mousewheel event, but tat event is not getting triggered. Then, I tried to handle with WndProc function like this, void CascadeControl::WndProc( Message% m ) { switch(m.Msg) { case WM_MOUSEWHEEL: ...............//my code// break; } control::WndProc(m); } but still my mousewheel event is not getting triggered at all... i want to know whether i m doing correctly or not.. If not is there any other way to do it?
