  • Running down a 'stack overflow' bug

    - by ChuckO
I have an application written in Delphi W32 that is in beta. On the test PC, it haphazardly kicks out a 'stack overflow' message after a few hours of use. How can I trap the error and find the cause? Can I increase the Stack size?

  • PHP upload script

    - by Darkmage
Using this upload script and it was working ok a week ago but when i checked it today it fails. I have checked writ privileges on the folder and it is set to 777 so don't think that is the problem. • Passing Flash variables to PHP.

    - by user340553
Hi, I have a simple standalone application written in Visual Basic that I'm porting to a browser based application using PHP/javascript. The original VB application has some simple embedded flash games with token and point counters. The token and point values are being passed as variables between the application and the game. I'm trying to achieve the same effect in my PHP port without modifying the actionscript code( using the variables in actionscript that already exist). Below is Visual Basic code that's loading a value from a database and posting that value to flash using FlashVars: Private Sub loadPlayer() Try If CtblPoints.CheckPointsByID(mCard) Then objPoints = CtblPoints.GettblPointsByID(mCard) objPlayerAc = CtblPlayerAccount.GettblPlayerAccountByPlayerID(objPoints.AccountId) objPlayer = CtblPlayer.GettblPlayerByID(objPlayerAc.PlayerID) objPlayerBal = CtblPlayerBalance.GettblPlayerBalanceByID(objPlayerAc.PlayerID) objPlayerAcDetail = CtblPlayerAccountDetail.GettblPlayerAccountDetailByAmount(objPoints.AccountId) strTotalPoints = Convert.ToString(objPlayerAc.Points) strTotalWin = Convert.ToString(objPlayerBal.TokenAmount) 'Dim intTokenAmount As Decimal = Convert.ToDecimal(objPlayerBal.TokenAmount) 'strTotalWin = Convert.ToString(Convert.ToInt64(intTokenAmount * 100)) flashPlayer.Size = panelGame.Size flashPlayer.FlashVars = "totalEntries=" & strTotalPoints & "&credit=" & strTotalWin flashPlayer.LoadMovie(0, strGameFile) flashPlayer.Play() Else Me.Close() Dim frmInvCrd As New frmInvalidCard frmInvCrd.ShowDialog() End If Catch ex As Exception End Try I'm trying to recreate this in PHP, but I'm at a loss as to how to begin implementing it. The variables in flash are declared publicly, and global imports used: import com.atticmedia.console.*; import flash.display.*; import flash.events.*; import flash.geom.*; import flash.media.*; import flash.net.*; import flash.system.*; import flash.utils.*; First declaration of variable 'totalEntries' is: public var totalEntries:int = 0; and this is a snip of totalEntries being used in the actionscript public function notifyServerOfUnwonCredits(param1) { var remainder:* = param1; if (this.useServer) { this.targetWinAmount = 0; this.cancelUpdateOverTime = F9.setEnterFrame(this.updateOverTime); fscommand("OverTime", "" + remainder); this.flashVarsUpdatedAction = function () { originalTotalWin = totalWin; return; }// end function ; } else { this.setTotalEntries(100000); this.setTotalWin(0); } return; }// end function Eventually I'll be passing these values back to a mySQL database. Any insight into this would be extremely helpful, Thanks!

  • Speed Problem with Wireless Connectivity on Cisco 877w

    - by Carl Crawley
Having a bit of a weird one with my local LAN setup. I recently installed a Cisco 877W router on my DSL2+ connection and all is working really well.. Upgraded the IOS to 12.4 and my wired clients are streaming connectivity superfast at 1.3mb/s. However, there seems to be an issue with my wireless clients - I can't seem to stream any data across the local wireless connection (LAN) and using the Internet, whilst responsive enough isn't really comparable with the wired connection speed. For example, all devices are connected to an 8 Port Gb switch on FE0 from the Router with a NAS disk and on my wired clients, I can transfer/stream etc absolutely fine - however, transferring a local 700Mb file on my local LAN estimates 7-8 hours to transfer :( The Wireless config is as follows : interface Dot11Radio0 description WIRELESS INTERFACE no ip address ! encryption mode ciphers tkip ! ssid [MySSID] ! speed basic-1.0 basic-2.0 basic-5.5 6.0 9.0 basic-11.0 channel 2462 station-role root rts threshold 2312 world-mode dot11d country GB indoor bridge-group 1 bridge-group 1 subscriber-loop-control bridge-group 1 spanning-disabled bridge-group 1 block-unknown-source no bridge-group 1 source-learning no bridge-group 1 unicast-flooding All devices are connected to the Gb Switch which is connected to FE0 with the following: Hardware is Fast Ethernet, address is 0021.a03e.6519 (bia 0021.a03e.6519) Description: Uplink to Switch MTU 1500 bytes, BW 100000 Kbit/sec, DLY 100 usec, reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255 Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set Keepalive set (10 sec) Full-duplex, 100Mb/s ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00 Last input never, output never, output hang never Last clearing of "show interface" counters never Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0 Queueing strategy: fifo Output queue: 0/40 (size/max) 5 minute input rate 14000 bits/sec, 19 packets/sec 5 minute output rate 167000 bits/sec, 23 packets/sec 177365 packets input, 52089562 bytes, 0 no buffer Received 919 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles 260 input errors, 260 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored 0 input packets with dribble condition detected 156673 packets output, 106218222 bytes, 0 underruns 0 output errors, 0 collisions, 2 interface resets 0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred 0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier 0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out Not sure why I'm having problems on the wireless and I've reached the end of my Cisco knowledge... • How to delegate SwingWorker's publish to other methods

    - by Savvas Dalkitsis
My "problem" can be described by the following. Assume we have an intensive process that we want to have running in the background and have it update a Swing JProgress bar. The solution is easy: import java.util.List; import javax.swing.JOptionPane; import javax.swing.JProgressBar; import javax.swing.SwingWorker; /** * @author Savvas Dalkitsis */ public class Test { public static void main(String[] args) { final JProgressBar progressBar = new JProgressBar(0,99); SwingWorker<Void, Integer> w = new SwingWorker<Void, Integer>(){ @Override protected void process(List<Integer> chunks) { progressBar.setValue(chunks.get(chunks.size()-1)); } @Override protected Void doInBackground() throws Exception { for (int i=0;i<100;i++) { publish(i); Thread.sleep(300); } return null; } }; w.execute(); JOptionPane.showOptionDialog(null, new Object[] { "Process", progressBar }, "Process", JOptionPane.OK_CANCEL_OPTION, JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE, null, null, null); } } Now assume that i have various methods that take a long time. For instance we have a method that downloads a file from a server. Or another that uploads to a server. Or anything really. What is the proper way of delegating the publish method to those methods so that they can update the GUI appropriately? What i have found so far is this (assume that the method "aMethod" resides in some other package for instance): import java.awt.event.ActionEvent; import java.util.List; import javax.swing.AbstractAction; import javax.swing.Action; import javax.swing.JOptionPane; import javax.swing.JProgressBar; import javax.swing.SwingWorker; /** * @author Savvas Dalkitsis */ public class Test { public static void main(String[] args) { final JProgressBar progressBar = new JProgressBar(0,99); SwingWorker<Void, Integer> w = new SwingWorker<Void, Integer>(){ @Override protected void process(List<Integer> chunks) { progressBar.setValue(chunks.get(chunks.size()-1)); } @SuppressWarnings("serial") @Override protected Void doInBackground() throws Exception { aMethod(new AbstractAction() { @Override public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { publish((Integer)getValue("progress")); } }); return null; } }; w.execute(); JOptionPane.showOptionDialog(null, new Object[] { "Process", progressBar }, "Process", JOptionPane.OK_CANCEL_OPTION, JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE, null, null, null); } public static void aMethod (Action action) { for (int i=0;i<100;i++) { action.putValue("progress", i); action.actionPerformed(null); try { Thread.sleep(300); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } } It works but i know it lacks something. Any thoughts?

  • Binary socket and policy file in Flex

    - by Daniil
Hi, I'm trying to evaluate whether Flex can access binary sockets. Seems that there's a class calles Socket (flex.net package). The requirement is that Flex will connect to a server serving binary data. It will then subscribe to data and receive the feed which it will interpret and display as a chart. I've never worked with Flex, my experience lies with Java, so everything is new to me. So I'm trying to quickly set something simple up. The Java server expects the following: DataInputStream in = ..... byte cmd = in.readByte(); int size = in.readByte(); byte[] buf = new byte[size]; in.readFully(buf); ... do some stuff and send binary data in something like out.writeByte(1); out.writeInt(10000); ... etc... Flex, needs to connect to a localhost:6666 do the handshake and read data. I got something like this: try { var socket:Socket = new Socket(); socket.connect('192.168.110.1', 9999); Alert.show('Connected.'); socket.writeByte(108); // 'l' socket.writeByte(115); // 's' socket.writeByte(4); socket.writeMultiByte('HHHH', 'ISO-8859-1'); socket.flush(); } catch (err:Error) { Alert.show(err.message + ": " + err.toString()); } The first thing is that Flex does a <policy-file-request/>. I've modified the server to respond with: <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd"> <cross-domain-policy> <site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only"/> <allow-access-from domain="192.168.110.1" to-ports="*" /> </cross-domain-policy> After that - EOFException happens on the server and that's it. So the question is, am I approaching whole streaming data issue wrong when it comes to Flex? Am I sending the policy file wrong? Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a good solid example of how to do it. It seems to me that Flex can do binary Client-Server application, but I personally lack some basic knowledge when doing it. I'm using Flex 3.5 in IntelliJ IDEA IDE. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

  • Is there a way in PHP to keep a file open and process each line and subsequent lines?

    - by Chris Denman
I want to write a php script that keeps the apache_log file open and "listen" to the log and deal with each log entry as it happens. I'm thinking that I need to open a file, get the number of lines, then do this again in a loop - and when the size is different, read the new lines and process them. Am I barking up the wrong tree, or is there a silly easy solution that I have missed? Chris

  • WPF: When is a WrapPanel full.

    - by rathkopf
I'm using a WrapPanel to display variable height items in columns. The wrappanel has a constrained size. Is there an way to determine when the WrapPanel is 'full'? I will then page to another panel with an animation. I've looked at the ArrangeOverride of the items that are the panels children, but they always seem to be getting all the space they want. I need a way to determine when they begin getting clipped.

  • How to scroll text in Python/Curses subwindow?

    - by lecodesportif
In my Python script which uses Curses, I have a subwin to which some text is assigned. Because the text length may be longer than the window size, the text should be scrollable. It doesn't seem that there is any CSS-"overflow" like attribute for Curses windows. The Python/Curses docs are also rather cryptic on this aspect. Does anybody here have an idea how I can code a scrollable Curses subwindow using Python and actually scroll through it? \edit: more precise question

What are best practices to include boost smart pointer library only without adding all boost libraries into the project? I only want boost smart pointer library in my project and I don't want to check in/commit 200 MB source codes (boost 1.42.0) into my project repository just for that. What more, my windows mobile project itself doesn't even reach 10% of that size!

  • Oversized Qt Fonts on OSX

    - by Mike Arthur
Why does Qt on OSX appear to default to overly large fonts? Even when you select the same font size manually the fonts appear slightly bigger. Does Qt on OSX use a different font rendering to OSX? Does this improve if you use Qt for Cocoa? In addition, is there a qtconfig tool or equivalent to globally set the font settings for all Qt applications? Thanks!

  • GTK TextView automatically resizing

    - by endeavormac
I'm messing around with GTK and glade for the first time, and I've run across a really annoying issue. When I enter text into a TextView, the TextView automatically resizes larger, pushing other widgets away. This is a really annoying behavior. I do not want my TextView changing size depending on the amount of text within it. Does anyone know what I can do to prevent the TextView from resizing based on its content?
