  • Threading: problem with checkbox's visibility

    - by Manish
    In a C#.NET windows application I set the visibility of the checkbox to false: checkBoxLaunch.Visible = true; I started a thread. Thread th = new Thread(new ThreadStart(PerformAction)); th.IsBackground = true; th.Start(); The thread performs some stuff and sets the visibility to true private void PerformAction() { /* . .// some actions. */ checkBoxLaunch.Visible = true; } But after the thread finishes it's task, the check box is not visible to me.. :( What am I missing??

  • NSNotification center may not respond to -object ?

    - by blackkettle
    Hi, I'm trying to make simple use of the NSNotification center inside my iPhone application, but I seem to be doing something wrong in this case. I was under the impression that it was possible to retrieve an object associated with a particular message, or at least a reference to the object, but using the following example code I'm getting a warning, "NSNotification center may not respond to -object" - (void)addNewBookmark:(NSNotificationCenter *)notification { Bookmark *newBookMark = (Bookmark *)[notification object]; //Do some stuff with the bookmark object } Indeed, when I compile and run the code, basically nothing I try to do with the contents of the object actually gets carried out - it's simply ignored. The post code is as follows, - (IBAction)save:(id) sender{ //Sending the message with the related object [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:@"addNewBookmark" object:bookmark]; } and the bookmark object itself is just a dictionary. I also tried using the "userInfo" argument and passing the bookmark object through that, but the result was the same. How should I be doing this? What am I doing wrong?

  • gcov and switch statements

    - by Matt
    I'm running gcov over some C code with a switch statement. I've written test cases to cover every possible path through that switch statement, but it still reports a branch in the switch statement as not taken and less than 100% on the "Taken at least once" stat. Here's some sample code to demonstrate: #include "stdio.h" void foo(int i) { switch(i) { case 1:printf("a\n");break; case 2:printf("b\n");break; case 3:printf("c\n");break; default: printf("other\n"); } } int main() { int i; for(i=0;i<4;++i) foo(i); return 0; } I built with "gcc temp.c -fprofile-arcs -ftest-coverage", ran "a", then did "gcov -b -c temp.c". The output indicates eight branches on the switch and one (branch 6) not taken. What are all those branches and how do I get 100% coverage?

  • How do you control what your C compiler Optimizes?

    - by Jordan S
    I am writing the firmware for an embedded device in C using the Silicon Labs IDE and the SDCC compiler. The device architecture is based on the 8051 family. The function in question is shown below. The function is used to set the ports on my MCU to drive a stepper motor. It gets called in by an interrupt handler. The big switch statement just sets the ports to the proper value for the next motor step. The bottom part of the function looks at an input from a hall effect sensor and a number of steps moved in order to detect if the motor has stalled. The problem is, for some reason the second IF statement that looks like this if (StallDetector > (GapSize + 20)) { HandleStallEvent(); } always seems to get optimized out. If I try to put a breakpoint at the HandleStallEvent() call the IDE gives me a message saying "No Address Correlation to this line number". I am not really good enough at reading assembly to tell what it is doing but I have pasted a snippet from the asm output below. Any help would be much appreciated. void OperateStepper(void) { //static bit LastHomeMagState = HomeSensor; static bit LastPosMagState = PosSensor; if(PulseMotor) { if(MoveDirection == 1) // Go clockwise { switch(STEPPER_POSITION) { case 'A': STEPPER_POSITION = 'B'; P1 = 0xFD; break; case 'B': STEPPER_POSITION = 'C'; P1 = 0xFF; break; case 'C': STEPPER_POSITION = 'D'; P1 = 0xFE; break; case 'D': STEPPER_POSITION = 'A'; P1 = 0xFC; break; default: STEPPER_POSITION = 'A'; P1 = 0xFC; } //end switch } else // Go CounterClockwise { switch(STEPPER_POSITION) { case 'A': STEPPER_POSITION = 'D'; P1 = 0xFE; break; case 'B': STEPPER_POSITION = 'A'; P1 = 0xFC; break; case 'C': STEPPER_POSITION = 'B'; P1 = 0xFD; break; case 'D': STEPPER_POSITION = 'C'; P1 = 0xFF; break; default: STEPPER_POSITION = 'A'; P1 = 0xFE; } //end switch } //end else MotorSteps++; StallDetector++; if(PosSensor != LastPosMagState) { StallDetector = 0; LastPosMagState = PosSensor; } else { if (PosSensor == ON) { if (StallDetector > (MagnetSize + 20)) { HandleStallEvent(); } } else if (PosSensor == OFF) { if (StallDetector > (GapSize + 20)) { HandleStallEvent(); } } } } //end if PulseMotor } ... and the asm output for the the bottom part of this function... ; C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\HSFW_HID_SDCC_2\MotionControl.c:653: if(PosSensor != LastPosMagState) mov c,_P1_4 jb _OperateStepper_LastPosMagState_1_1,00158$ cpl c 00158$: jc 00126$ C$MotionControl.c$655$3$7 ==. ; C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\HSFW_HID_SDCC_2\MotionControl.c:655: StallDetector = 0; clr a mov _StallDetector,a mov (_StallDetector + 1),a C$MotionControl.c$657$3$7 ==. ; C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\HSFW_HID_SDCC_2\MotionControl.c:657: LastPosMagState = PosSensor; mov c,_P1_4 mov _OperateStepper_LastPosMagState_1_1,c ret 00126$: C$MotionControl.c$661$2$8 ==. ; C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\HSFW_HID_SDCC_2\MotionControl.c:661: if (PosSensor == ON) jb _P1_4,00123$ C$MotionControl.c$663$4$9 ==. ; C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\HSFW_HID_SDCC_2\MotionControl.c:663: if (StallDetector > (MagnetSize + 20)) mov a,_MagnetSize mov r2,a rlc a subb a,acc mov r3,a mov a,#0x14 add a,r2 mov r2,a clr a addc a,r3 mov r3,a clr c mov a,r2 subb a,_StallDetector mov a,r3 subb a,(_StallDetector + 1) jnc 00130$ C$MotionControl.c$665$5$10 ==. ; C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\HSFW_HID_SDCC_2\MotionControl.c:665: HandleStallEvent(); ljmp _HandleStallEvent 00123$: C$MotionControl.c$668$2$8 ==. ; C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\HSFW_HID_SDCC_2\MotionControl.c:668: else if (PosSensor == OFF) jnb _P1_4,00130$ C$MotionControl.c$670$4$11 ==. ; C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\HSFW_HID_SDCC_2\MotionControl.c:670: if (StallDetector > (GapSize + 20)) mov a,#0x14 add a,_GapSize mov r2,a clr a addc a,(_GapSize + 1) mov r3,a clr c mov a,r2 subb a,_StallDetector mov a,r3 subb a,(_StallDetector + 1) jnc 00130$ C$MotionControl.c$672$5$12 ==. ; C:\SiLabs\Optec Programs\HSFW_HID_SDCC_2\MotionControl.c:672: HandleStallEvent(); C$MotionControl.c$678$2$1 ==.   • Problem updating blog with hibernate?

    - by johnsmith51
    hi, i am having problem updating a blob with hibernate. my model have these getters/setters for hibernate, i.e. internally i deal with byte[] so any getter/setter convert the byte[] to blog. I can create an initial object without problem, but if I try to change the content of the blob, the database column is not updated. I do not get any error message, everything looks fine, except that the database is not updated. /** do not use, for hibernate only */ public Blob getLogoBinaryBlob() { if(logoBinary == null){ return null; } return Hibernate.createBlob(logoBinary); } /** do not use, for hibernate only */ public void setLogoBinaryBlob(Blob logoBinaryBlob) { ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); try { logoBinary = toByteArrayImpl(logoBinaryBlob, baos); } catch (Exception e) { } }

  • C# streamreader, delimiter problem.

    - by Mike
    What I have is a txt file that is huge, 60MB. I need to read each line and produce a file, split based on a delimiter. I'm having no issue reading the file or producing the file, my complication comes from the delimiter, it can't see the delimiter. If anybody could offer a suggestion on how to read that delimiter I would be so grateful. delimiter = Ç public void file1() { string betaFilePath = @"C:\dtable.txt"; StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); using (FileStream fs = new FileStream(betaFilePath, FileMode.Open)) using (StreamReader rdr = new StreamReader(fs)) { while (!rdr.EndOfStream) { string[] betaFileLine = rdr.ReadLine().Split('Ç'); { sb.AppendLine(betaFileLine[0] + "ç" + betaFileLine[1] + betaFileLine[2] + "ç" + betaFileLine[3] + "ç" + betaFileLine[4] + "ç" + betaFileLine[5] + "ç" + betaFileLine[6] + "ç" + betaFileLine[7] + "ç" + betaFileLine[8] + "ç" + betaFileLine[9] + "ç" + betaFileLine[10] + "ç"); } } } using (FileStream fs = new FileStream(@"C:\testarea\load1.txt", FileMode.Create)) using (StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(fs)) { writer.Write(sb.ToString()); } }

  • [C#, Regex] EOL Special Char not matching

    - by Aurélien Ribon
    Hello, I am trying to find every "a - b, c, d" pattern in an input string. The pattern I am using is the following : "^[ \t]*(\\w+)[ \t]*->[ \t]*(\\w+)(,[ \t]*\\w+)*$" The input is : a -> b b -> c c -> d The function is : private void ParseAndBuildGraph(String input) { MatchCollection mc = Regex.Matches(input, "^[ \t]*(\\w+)[ \t]*->[ \t]*(\\w+)(,[ \t]*\\w+)*$", RegexOptions.Multiline); foreach (Match m in mc) { Debug.WriteLine(m.Value); } } The output is : c -> d Actually, there is a problem with the line ending "$" special char. If I insert a "\r" before "$", it works, but I thought "$" would match any line termination (with the Multiline option), especially a \r\n in a Windows environment. Is it not the case ?

Computer Spec: Windows 7 Running processes: 46 Running threads: +/- 650 NVidia GeForce 9200M GS Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26Ghz Game-spec with normal run: Memory: between 80 MB and 110 MB CPU: between 9% and 20% CPU when time rewinding: 90% The same values for the debugging session, except when I rewind the time: CPU: 20%. • ASP.NET SetAuthCookie weird behaviour

The user selects the user they'd like to emulate/impersonate and then clicks the button which fires this: protected void uxImpersonate_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { ... FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(uxUserToEmulate.SelectedValue, false); Response.Redirect("Impersonation.aspx"); //reload page manually } We have a dev - test - production server environment and on two servers this works just fine, but on another one, in all browsers, it kicks me to the login screen. What's going on and how can I fix it? We're on ASP.NET 2.0

  • Why can i read dirty rows in MySql

    - by acidzombie24
    I cant believe this, i always throught the below would be concurrency safe. I write to a row in one transaction and i am able to read the dirty value from another transaction/command/connection! Why is this possible (not my main question) isnt this not desired and cause more troubles!?! Anyways, i expected that once i write to a row nothing else will be able to read to the row until the transaction is finished. And at least if the row can be still read that the clean (original) value will be read. (but maybe that would cause problems as well if the transaction doesnt use the newly commited data from the other transaction when it is ran) I would like count to == 11. I thought this would be safe in all variants of sql. What can i do to either 1) Not read the dirty value but clean 2) Have that row be locked until the transaction is finished? static MySqlConnection MakeConn() { string connStr = "server=192.168.126.128;user=root;database=TestDB;port=3306;password=a;"; MySqlConnection conn = new MySqlConnection(connStr); conn.Open(); return conn; } static Semaphore sem1 = new Semaphore(1, 1); static Semaphore sem2 = new Semaphore(1, 1); static void Main2() { Console.WriteLine("Starting Test"); // sem1.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); sem2.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("2W"); Thread oThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(fn2)); oThread.Start(); var conn = MakeConn(); var cmd = new MySqlCommand(@" CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS Persons ( P_Id int NOT NULL, name varchar(255), count int, PRIMARY KEY (P_Id) )", conn); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.CommandText = "delete from Persons; insert into Persons(name, count) VALUES('E', '4');"; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; var count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("Finish inserting. v={0}", count); sem2.Release(); Console.WriteLine("2R"); sem1.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); Console.WriteLine("Starting transaction"); using (var tns = conn.BeginTransaction()) { cmd.CommandText = "update Persons set count=count+1"; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("count is {0}", count); sem2.Release(); Console.WriteLine("2R"); sem1.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); count += 5; //10 cmd.CommandText = "update Persons set count=" + count.ToString(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("count is {0}", count); tns.Commit(); } Console.WriteLine("finished transaction 1"); sem2.Release(); Console.WriteLine("2R"); sem1.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("count is {0}", count); sem2.Release(); Console.WriteLine("2R"); //sem1.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); } static void fn2() { int count; Console.WriteLine("Starting thread 2"); sem2.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("1W"); var conn = MakeConn(); var cmd = new MySqlCommand("", conn); sem1.Release(); Console.WriteLine("1R"); sem2.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("2W"); using (var tns = conn.BeginTransaction()) { cmd.CommandText = "update Persons set count=count+1"; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("count is {0}", count); sem1.Release(); Console.WriteLine("1R"); sem2.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("2W"); tns.Commit(); } Console.WriteLine("finished transaction 2"); sem1.Release(); Console.WriteLine("1R"); sem2.WaitOne(); Console.WriteLine("2W"); cmd.CommandText = "select count from Persons;"; count = (int)cmd.ExecuteScalar(); Console.WriteLine("count is {0}", count); //should be 11. 4 + 1x2(one each thread) += 5 from first thread == 11 sem1.Release(); Console.WriteLine("1R"); } console Starting Test 1W 2W Starting thread 2 Finish inserting. v=4 2R 1W 1R 1W Starting transaction count is 5 2R 2W count is 6 1R 1W count is 10 finished transaction 1 2R 2W finished transaction 2 1R 1W count is 10 2R 2W count is 10 1R

  • Problem trying to move a CCSprite circle in Cocos2d

    - by thyrgle
    Hi, So I am trying to move a CCSprite (which has the picture of a circle and is 32 by 32 pixels) with ccTouchesBegan. I have tried the following: -(void) ccTouchesBegan:(UITouch *)touch withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint location = [touch locationInView:touch.view]; if ((location.x <= L1Circle1.position.x + 32 && location.x >= L1Circle2.position.x - 32) && (location.y <= L1Circle1.position.y + 32 || location.y >= L1Circle2.position.y - 32)) { L1Circle1.position = ccp(location.x, location.y); } } But, when I touch the screen in the simulator nothing happens... What am I doing wrong?

    - by Roey
    Hi All. I've a VS2008 native C++ project, that I wish to compile as a DLL. It only references one external library (log4cplus.lib), and uses its functions. (also uses log4cplus's .h files , naturally). When I try to compile my project as a static library, it succeeeds. When I try as DLL, it fails : 1>MessageWriter.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: static class log4cplus::Logger __cdecl log4cplus::Logger::getInstance(class std::basic_string<wchar_t,struct std::char_traits<wchar_t>,class std::allocator<wchar_t> > const &)" (?getInstance@Logger@log4cplus@@SA?AV12@ABV?$basic_string@_WU?$char_traits@_W@std@@V?$allocator@_W@2@@std@@@Z) referenced in function "class log4cplus::Logger __cdecl Log(void)" (?Log@@YA?AVLogger@log4cplus@@XZ) There are 4 more errors just like this related to functions within log4cplus.lib. It seems like something really stupid.. please help me :) Thanks!

  • How to reuse a dropdownlist each row of a table instead of rebuilding it.

    I have a table the uses the same dropdown list in each row. I thought that I could just create one dropdown list and then reuse it in each new row, but the table only ends up with one row unless I create "new" dropdownlist. Am I approaching this all wrong? • Processing files with C# in folders whose names contain spaces

    - by Nigel Ainscoe
    There are plenty of C# samples that show how to manipulate files and directories but they inevitably use folder paths that contain no spaces. In the real world I need to be able to process files in folders with names that contain spaces. I have written the code below which shows how I have solved the problem. However it doesn't seem to be very elegant and I wonder if anyone has a better way. class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var dirPath = @args[0] + "\\"; string[] myFiles = Directory.GetFiles(dirPath, "*txt"); foreach (var oldFile in myFiles) { string newFile = dirPath + "New " + Path.GetFileName(oldFile); File.Move(oldFile, newFile); } Console.ReadKey(); } } Regards, Nigel Ainscoe

This is just code to reproduce the behavior, not code I want to use. class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { try { Activator.CreateInstance(typeof(Func<int>), new object[] { new object(), IntPtr.Zero }); } catch { Console.WriteLine("This won't print!"); } Console.Write("Actually this will not print either!"); Console.ReadLine(); } } No matter what exception type I try to catch (the actual exception thrown is an ArgumentException as far as I can tell) the code inside the catch block will not execute. Actually execution will just stop at the Activator.CreateInstance-line.

  • How to properly siglongjmp out of signal handler?

    - by EpsilonVector
    Suppose I have the following code: In order to implement a context switch I activate ualarm and when it jumps to the handler it setjmp's the current context, and longjmps to the next, expecting to eventually return to the alarm handler and longjmped back into this context (the contexts are cycled through in a Round Robin). For this I need to keep SIGALRM unblocked in between alarm_handlers. I came up with the following code, which doesn't seem to work. What's wrong with it and what is the right way to do this? void alarm_handler(){ if(sigsetjmp(toc->threads[toc->RR_pointer].env, 0)){ ualarm(200, 0); signal(SIGALRM, alarm_handler); return; } get_next_context_number(toc->RR_pointer); //is a macro for (j=0; j<10; j++) printf("ALARM HANDLER\n"); siglongjmp(toc->threads[toc->RR_pointer].env, 1); }

Or, even if "b" modifies "i" first, after that only "a" should have access to that memory( "i" ). Am I getting it correctly?

  • SelectedValue of DropDownList is not the one I selected when Enabled=false

    - by anD666
    Hiya, I have a few DropDownLists on a webform each pointing to a SqlDataSource. Some of these datasources use one of these DropDownLists for a select parameter, filtering the list to specific categories. For certain users two of these DropDownLists are to be automatically set and disabled. When I submit the form with the drop downs enabled it works fine but when they are disabled the SelectedValue of the DropDownList is being reset to the first one in the list. My DropDownLists are constructed as follows: <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlManager" runat="server" DataSourceID="dsManagers" EnableViewState="false" DataValueField="ManagerID" DataTextField="MgrName" AppendDataBoundItems="false" ondatabound="ddlManager_DataBound" > The drop down lists add an extra item on the data bound event as follows: protected void ddlManager_DataBound(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.ddlManager.Items.Insert(0, new ListItem("--Manager--", "--Manager--")); } Can anyone shed any light as to why this is happening? Thanks Andy
