  • Smallest executable for Windows

    Hi I need to create a very simple GUI application for Windows(open a file, do some changes based on user input, upload the file to an intranet server). The client company has the latest release versions of Java SE, .NET and Adobe AIR installed on all their machines. And their #1 requirement is to have the smallest possible package for xcopy deployment. So which of the 3 listed platforms should I use? Another option of course is a native exe. Thanks, Andrew

    Hi, I'm looking for a console that I can use to test out snippets of Java code. Either a desktop app, or a web app (like the Groovy web console). Ideally, the console should automatically import commonly used package like java.io.* java.util.* So that I can copy and paste code from a class without having to add a bunch of imports.     Is there a good customizable dual-pane file manager for Mac like Total Commander / Far Manager in Windows, or like Krusader / Midnight Commander in Linux? I used to work on Windows for quite a while and mostly used Far Manager and sometimes Total Commander, then I switched to Ubuntu Linux and used Krusader, now I switched to Mac OS (Snow Leopard) and I'm having a hard time trying to find a good file manager... Many of the existing applications are trying to replace the Finder with "multimedia capabilities nobody cares about in file manager - IMHO" (Path Finder, ForkLift), some of them are almost good dual-pane file managers (couldn't remember examples), but none of them worked for me mostly because of one reason: I couldn't integrate my file/folder comparison utility (Araxis Merge for Mac) with them... The way it worked for me in Windows and Linux is that I was setting the cursor on one file in the left pane, then setting the right-pane cursor on another file in right pane, then I pressed a hotkey that launched Araxis Merge with those to files/folders comparison results. It was very easy to set up in Far Manager (Windows) and Krusader (Linux, actually in Linux I used "Meld" instead of Araxis Merge...) The tool I'm looking for doesn't necessarily has to be free...     To enter a bit of dialogue using the screenplay package, I have to use \begin{dialogue}{Johnny} Some dialogue. \end{dialogue} \begin{dialogue}{Jane} I see. \end{dialogue} It gets a bit tedious after a while. The classes are in a particular package and are accessible via /WEB-INF/classes and not through a jar file in /WEB-INF/lib. How would I get a list of classes?   • Pivot tables: How can I total the subtotal?

    Person A needs £115, Person D £234 and Person G £789, but how do I SUM that and get it to show on the same ROW as the subtotal? The Rows are subscription names. The Value field holds the Cost per subscription. the Columns holds the name of the person who receives the subscription. I have GROUPED on YEAR & MONTH, and have a subtotal that shows me how much each person will need to pay each month for all their subscriptions, but I need a figure showing me the total of all the subscriptions per month. I've tried adding calculated fields, but I want to SUM the subtotals so I'm struggling to see the field I need to use. I've tried Grand Totals but that SUMS all rows and I really only want SUM the Subtotal Total Row. I need a nice neat report that my managers won't go white at when looking at it...to many numbers = fear and confusion. Anyway it got messy, so I've come for help. Cheers Mike.

Where (what package / source file) do these messages come from? Why is referencing __file__ or __path__ considered a bad thing?
