  • Passing input value thru XML loop and return value

    - by Mike Dyer
    "X" is reading the form value, but it is still passing and older "var thisMarket" value. The objective is to take a zip code via HTML form: <form id="market" name="market" onSubmit="return validateZIP(this.zip.value);" method="get" action=""> <input type="text" name="zip" id="zip" value="zipcode" onfocus="if(!this._haschanged){this.value=''};this._haschanged=true;" style="float:left; width:100px; margin-top:5px;"> <input type="image" style="float:left; margin-top:5px; border: 0pt none ; width: 22px; height:17px;" src="images/nav/bottom/linkbar/btn_search_btn.gif" onClick="findLda();"> </form> The script being passed thru is: function findLda(x){ marketName = new Array(); marketURL = new Array(); zip = new Array(); zip_temp = new Array(); zipMatch = false; var shareZip = "Shared Zips"; var thisMarket = "Market value"; xmlDoc=loadXML("/_includes/market.xml"); var Offer,node; document.getElementById('market').innerHTML=''; for(var j=0; j<xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('market').length; j++){ node = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('market')[j]; marketName.push(node.childNodes[3].textContent); marketURL.push(node.childNodes[5].textContent); for(var k=0; k<node.getElementsByTagName('zip').length; k++){ if(node.getElementsByTagName('zip')[k].textContent!=null){ zip_temp.push(node.getElementsByTagName('zip')[k].textContent); } } zip.push(zip_temp); zip_temp = new Array(); } //loop the zip Array to find a match for the query Zip. for(k=0; k<zip.length; k++){ for(m=0; m<zip[k].length; m++){ if(x == zip[k][m].toString()){ zipMatch=true; thisMarket=marketName[k].toString(); } } } alert(thisMarket); } The objective naturally is to take field input (A), pass it thru market.xml - initialize a loop and match a zip (B), alert the result (C). Looking for any direction with what is existing or a completely new direction. Thanks!

  • innerText/textContent vs. retrieving each text node

    - by J-P
    I've heard that using el.innerText||el.textContent can yield unreliable results, and that's why I've always insisted on using the following function in the past: function getText(node) { if (node.nodeType === 3) { return node.data; } var txt = ''; if (node = node.firstChild) do { txt += getText(node); } while (node = node.nextSibling); return txt; } This function goes through all nodes within an element and gathers the text of all text nodes, and text within descendants: E.g. <div id="x">foo <em>foo...</em> foo</div> Result: getText(document.getElementById('x')); // => "foo foo... foo" I'm quite sure there are issues with using innerText and textContent, but I've not been able to find a definitive list anywhere and I am starting to wonder if it's just hearsay. Can anyone offer any information about the possibly lacking reliability of textContent/innerText? EDIT: Found this great answer by Kangax -- http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1359469/innertext-works-in-ie-but-not-in-firefox/1359822#1359822

  • Buttons created through jquery don't respond to clicks

    - by Atrus
    As I've come to understand using $('.whatever').click() only works for items created initially. Additional items won't respond in the correct fashion. I was then directed to using something like $('.whatever).on('click', myFunction()). However, I'm not detecting any difference, as newly created items are not called. Here is a JSFiddle demonstration my example code: http://jsfiddle.net/atrus6/zaKZN/ My initial input plus 'Kill' will work in the correct fashion, however any additional 'input + kill's will not not do anything. Am I incorrectly using .on() or is it something else?

  • <Control>.Focus() from server side doesn't scroll into view

    - by George
    Custom Validation Control: <asp:CustomValidator ID="valSex" runat="server" ErrorMessage="1.2 &lt;b&gt;Sex&lt;/b&gt; not specified" EnableClientScript="true" ClientValidationFunction="ValidateSex" SetFocusOnError="True">Selection required</asp:CustomValidator> Client Side validation routine: function ValidateSex(source, args) { var optMale = document.getElementById("<%=optMale.ClientID %>"); var optFemale = document.getElementById("<%=optFemale.ClientID %>"); if (!optMale.checked && !optFemale.checked) { args.IsValid = false; optMale.focus(); } else args.IsValid = true; } When the page is submitted and Sex is not specified, focus is set but the 2 radio buttons are not quite in view, vertical scrolling is required to bring them into view. Shouldn't the Focus() method have brought the focus control into view?

Does it has any famous problems? want to hear your ideas about it and is it safe to use or its better to write all my CSS from scratch. Note that i checked the themes there and found there nice and some of them after some edits will fit the design we have.

  • Ignoring certain chars globally

    - by shi kui
    Consider it that '_'s in a number doesn't change that number's value so 1000==1_000==10_00. The Problem: given numbers like 1_244_23 1412_2 1_1111 etc..., how could I decide whether certain number appears in that collection? For example: 1244_23 yes, 11_111 yes, 1412_1 no. How could using regex to solve this? I mean, if I could tell the regex engine just ignore these '_''s when matching then this problem becomes trivial? How could I do so?

  • jquery, ajax, load post result to div

    - by mike
    Hello, I have a form that I need to post and show the result in a div. I'm not having any problems making the ajax call but I can't seem to figure out how to load the result to a div. I have tried: $.ajax({ type: 'POST', data: $('#someForm').serialize(), url: 'http://somedomain.com/my/url', success: function(data) { $('#someDiv').load(data); } }); but it does not seem to work properly. I'm nit sure if this should even work but the result is the the page i'm posting from being loaded into the div and not the url I'm posting to. Any help would be great! Thanks!

  • How to use Jquery UI in my Custom Function? (Autocomplete)

    - by bakazero
    I want to create a function to simplify configuration of jQuery UI AutoComplete. Here is my function code: (function($) { $.fn.myAutocomplete = function() { var cache = {}; var dataUrl = args.dataUrl; var dataSend = args.dataItem; $.autocomplete({ source: function(request, response) { if (cache.term == request.term && cache.content) { response(cache.content); } if (new RegExp(cache.term).test(request.term) && cache.content && cache.content.length < 13) { var matcher = new RegExp($.ui.autocomplete.escapeRegex(request.term), "i"); response($.grep(cache.content, function(value) { return matcher.test(value.value) })); } $.ajax({ url: dataUrl, dataType: "json", type: "POST", data: dataSend, success: function(data) { cache.term = request.term; cache.content = data; response(data); } }); }, minLength: 2, }); } }) (jQuery); but when I'm using this function like: $("input#tag").myAutocomplete({ dataUrl: "/auto_complete/tag", dataSend: { term: request.term, category: $("input#category").val() } }); It's give me an error: Uncaught ReferenceError: request is not defined

  • Getting time from a cell in Google Spreadsheet

    - by lostInTransit
    Hi I have created a Google Spreadsheet form in which for one of the fields I get the time (hh:mm:ss) in 24-hour format. I am using Google Apps Scripts to read values from this spreadsheet and put it into another file. But the other file gets the entire date (don't know from where) and shows a date from 1899. Also the time is shown in PDT (not my time zone). Even the time it prints is not correct How do I read the column value as a string and put it in the other file OR get just the time from the column value (and the correct time) I am using a simple row[0][3] to get the values from an array after doing range.getValues() Thanks.

  • More compact way to do this?

    - by Macha
    I have a couple of functions that loop around the surrounding cells of a cell. The grid is contained inside an array. In my code, I have checks to make sure it's not one of the edge cells, as checking an undefined cell causes an error. As such, I have code like this: if(x > 0) { var firstX = x - 1; } else { var firstX = x; } if(x < 199) { var lastX = x + 1; } else { var lastX = x; } if(y > 0) { var firstY = y - 1; } else { var firstY = y; } if(y < 199) { var lastY = y + 1; } else { var lastY = y; } A lot of lines of code to do very little. Is there a more elegant way to do this?

  • Is this correct about ajax POST?

    - by Tommy
    Could you confirm I understand this correctly. Using POST, the file specified in xmlhttp.open("GET","ajax_test.asp",true); will not be cached (sent to \Temporary Internet Files) ? It will stay on the server only? If this is true, is the updated html file after calling ajax POST, being updated in the \Temporary Internet Files ? Am I missing any other important information of this mechanism? Thank You.

  • how to sort an existing table in greasemonkey ?

    - by user570512
    i'm writing a greasemonkey user.js for a page with a table in it. (table is 100 rows by 18 columns.) now what i want to do is to make it sortable on column. and also have it run in both chrome and firefox. all searches for answers sofar resulted in suggestions to use jquery/dojo or something alike. can i be done without any external code? after all it's just a matter of replacing the row's in a different order, right? or is that a silly thing to say? the thing is that i'm already using dojo for some query needs but since i want it to run in both firefox and chrome, i just copy paste the whole dojo thing in my script.. also, most of the solutions i found sofar seem to be more for use when building a table. not for altering an existing one. any help is appreciated.

  • jQuery: Fade not working

    - by Rosarch
    For some reason, jQuery's fade effect isn't working. Could it be because of the code? This function does everything it is supposed to, aside from the fading. It gets called at the correct time. function moveToTerm(original_course, helper, term) { var cloned_course = original_course.clone(true); original_course.addClass('already-scheduled'); helper.fadeOut(function() { cloned_course.appendTo(term).attr('style', '').fadeIn("slow"); }); } UPDATE: It fails in both FF 3.5.9 and IE 8.

For instance if user go to http://localhost/test.html#test2 The main container(result) in the page will do an ajax load call to test2.html to get the content. I can't manage to get this simple code working. Appreciate if someone can guide me in the right direction. Thanks.
