    Hi, I'm finding some problems with a query that returns the sum of a field from a table for all the records that meet certain conditions. I expected to receive a "No records found' when there were no records, but instead I'm receiving a null result. SQL> SELECT * FROM DUAL WHERE 1=2; no rows selected SQL> SELECT SUM(dummy) FROM DUAL WHERE 1=2; SUM(DUMMY) ---------- SQL> Is there any way to not receive any record in that case?

Now want to add new record in database so I have added text boxes on footer template cells at runtime depend on number of columns on table.     Hi, I have a datagrid with an XML object as dataprovider. There are 2 columns in the datagrid which have comboboxes as their itemrenderers. The rendereriseditor property is also marked true. These itemrenderers are defined in their own mxml files. What i want is if the user selects a particular item in the combobox, say NA, then the value of the other combobox should also become NA.   • Making one table equal to another without a delete *

    Hey, I know this is bit of a strange one but if anyone had any help that would be greatly appreciated. The scenario is that we have a production database at a remote site and a developer database in our local office. Developers make changes directly to the developer db and as part of the deployment process a C# application runs and produces a series of .sql scripts that we can execute on the remote side (essentially delete *, insert) but we are looking for something a bit more elaborate as the downtime from the delete * is unacceptable. This is all reference data that controls menu items, functionality etc of a major website. I have a sproc that essentially returns a diff of two tables. My thinking is that I can insert all the expected data in to a tmp table, execute the diff, and drop anything from the destination table that is not in the source and then upsert everything else. The question is that is there an easy way to do this without using a cursor? To illustrate the sproc returns a recordset structured like this: TableName Col1 Col2 Col3 Dest Src Anything in the recordset with TableName = Dest should be deleted (as it does not exist in src) and anything in Src should be upserted in to dest. I cannot think of a way to do this purely set based but my DB-fu is weak. Any help would be appreciated. Apologies if the explanation is sketchy; let me know if you need anymore details.

  • ContentControl + RenderTargetBitmap + empty image

    Im trying to create some chart images without ever displaying those charts on the screen. I'v been at this for quite a while and tried a lot of different things but nothing seems to work. The code works perfectly if I display the chart in a window first, but if I don't display it in a window, the bitmap is just white with a black border (no idea why). I have tried adding the chart to a border before rendering and giving the border a green borderBrush. In the bitmap, I see the green borderBrush then the black border and white background but no chart. I don't know where the black border is coming from as the chart is not contained in a black border. I have tried adding the chart to a window without calling window.Show() and again just the black boarder and white background. However if I call window.Show() the bitmap contains the chart. I have tried using a drawingVisual as explained here, same result.     I have a 1x8 matrix of students where each student is a 4x1 matrix of scores. Something like: SCORES S [62, 91, 74, 14] T [59, 7 , 59, 21] U [44, 9 , 69, 6 ] D [4 , 32, 28, 53] E [78, 99, 53, 83] N [48, 86, 89, 60] T [56, 71, 15, 80] S [47, 67, 79, 40] Main question: Using sigma notation, or some other mathematical function, how can I get a 1x8 matrix where each student's scores are summed? # expected result TOTAL OF SCORES S [241] T [146] U [128] D [117] E [313] N [283] T [222] S [233] Sub question. To get the average, I will multiply the matrix by 1/4. Would there be a quicker way to get the final result? AVERAGE SCORE S [60.25] T [36.50] U [32.00] D [29.25] E [78.25] N [70.75] T [55.50] S [58.25] Note: I'm not looking for programming-related algorithms here. I want to know if it is possible to represent this with pure mathematical functions alone.

    Is there a way to append something to the query string with no value set? I would like to see this kind of URL being generated: http://local/things?magic. What I'm looking for is when the user goes to http://local/other?magic then every URL in the generated page would contain magic in the end. Following code is almost a solution but it gives me http://local/things?magic=. There is an extra = that I don't want there. def default_url_options(options) if params.has_key?("magic") { :magic => "" } end end Setting { :magic => nil } will remove the magic entirely from the generated URLs.

  • Full Text Index type column is empty

    I am trying to create an index on a VarBinary(max) field in my SQL Server 2008 database. The steps I am taking are as follows: Table: dbo.Records Right click on table and select "Full Text Index" Then select "Define Index..." I choose the primary key which is the PK of my table (field name Id, type UniqueIndentifier). I then get the screen with the options Available Columns, Language for Word Breaker and Type Column I select my VarBinary(max) field called Chart as the Available Column by ticking the box. I select "English" as the Language for Word Breaker field. Then... I try to select the Type Column but there are no entries in here. I cannot proceed by clicking "Next" until this column is populated. Why are there no entries in this column for selection and what should be in there? Note 1: The VarBinary(max) field is linked to a file group if that makes any difference. Note 2: Also noticed that in the table designer I cannot set the full text option on that same field to "Yes" - its permanently stuck on "No". Thanks.

    Basically, I am looking for a java library that will take this: <foo><bar> </bar><baz>yadda</baz></foo> And pretty print it to this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <foo> <bar> </bar> <baz>yadda</baz> </foo> e.g. preserving whitespace AND blank elements The closest I have got was with dom4j like so: OutputFormat format = OutputFormat.createPrettyPrint(); format.setTrimText( false ); However, this does not honor the whitespace unless the element contains other character data. I'm not opposed to writing something on my own, but I would think this has already been done, why reinvent the wheel?

(Can't post images since my account is new here) As you may notice, there are 6 rows for 6 pieces of data I have created but the grid is a mess.     The following bit of code breaks in the upgrade to jquery 1.4: $().mousemove( function (e) { defaults.mouseX = e.pageX; defaults.mouseY = e.pageY; }); }; What appeared to be a reasonable fix was adding "html" as the selector, ex: $("html"). The fix works fine - except now when the user mouses off the page, it doesn't register the mouse position beyond the boundaries. When attempting to use the mouse position for a drag, for example, the amount of movement beyond the screen is really important. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • mysql: Average over multiple columns in one row, ignoring nulls

    I have a large table (of sites) with several numeric columns - say a through f. (These are site rankings from different organizations, like alexa, google, quantcast, etc. Each has a different range and format; they're straight dumps from the outside DBs.) For many of the records, one or more of these columns is null, because the outside DB doesn't have data for it. They all cover different subsets of my DB. I want column t to be their weighted average (each of a..f have static weights which I assign), ignoring null values (which can occur in any of them), except being null if they're all null. I would prefer to do this with a simple SQL calculation, rather than doing it in app code or using some huge ugly nested if block to handle every permutation of nulls. (Given that I have an increasing number of columns to average over as I add in more outside DB sources, this would be exponentially more ugly and bug-prone.) I'd use AVG but that's only for group by, and this is w/in one record. The data is semantically nullable, and I don't want to average in some "average" value in place of the nulls; I want to only be counting the columns for which data is there. Is there a good way to do this? Ideally, what I want is something like UPDATE sites SET t = AVG(a*a_weight,b*b_weight,...) where any null values are just ignored and no grouping is happening.

    Given an Oracle Merge statement with a rejection limit, is there a shorthand way to identify how many rows were rejected, without being forced to query the rejection destination? The rejection destination has records pre-merge, so would currently have to be counted twice and the difference taken, but it seems like there should be a counter exposed, given that it has to be aware of whether it has exceeded the rejection limit.

  • file_column not creating files, just empty tmp directory

    Up to the end of December 2009 everything worked fine, so i assume that after some upgrades on servers (Ubuntu 8.10 and second Ubuntu 9.10) something stopped working. Model: class Product < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :category file_column :thumbnail, :magick = { :geometry = "150x100" } there is of course table 'products' in database, and it has column 'thumbnail' what's interesting that File actually is uploaded to server, it goes to the /tmp directory under RackMultipartXXXX-0 name, and it is unmodified image. The problem is, that then this file is not moved to 'tmp' dir under RAILS_ROOT/public/product/ nor the 'XX' (where xx means ID of a product) under public/product also. i don't know what to do, i spend few HOURS trying different versions of file_column, also trying to make new, test rails application only from scaffold, but then, in this new application problem was the same
