  I'm trying to make an autologinfilter in Eclipse using a liferay hook. Now I've added the: <filter> <filter-name>myautologinfilter</filter-name> <filter-class>bla.bla.xyz</filter-class> </filter> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>myautologinfilter</filter-name> <url-pattern>/c/login/myurl</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> To the liferay hook's web.xml. Is there anything specific I have to do when I add extra classes in a hook? Any advice/input would be appreciated. Or someone's ear I could lend so I could mail them a little bit so I could pick their brain a bit would be really appreciated since I don't know anyone who programs for liferay.

• Why is PackageInfo.requestedPermissions always null?

  I'm trying to enumerate all the permissions used by all the installed packages, however when I check the requestedPermissions property for each of my installed packages it is always null. • Hausman Test, Fixed/random effects in SAS?

  Hey guys, I'm trying to do a fixed effecs OLS regression, a random effects OLS Regression and a Hausman test to back up my choice for one of those models. Alas, there does not seem to be a lot of information of what the code looks like when you want to do this. I found for the Hausman test that proc model data=one out=fiml2; endogenous y1 y2; y1 = py2 * y2 + px1 * x1 + interc; y2 = py1* y1 + pz1 * z1 + d2; fit y1 y2 / ols 2sls hausman; instruments x1 z1; run; you do something like this. However, I do not have the equations in the middle, which i assume to be the fixed and random effects models? On an other site I found that PROC TSCSREG automatically displays the Hausman test, unfortunately this does not work either. When I type PROC TSCSREG data = clean; data does not become blue meaning SAS does not recognize this as a type of data input? proc tscsreg data = clean; var nof capm_erm sigma cv fvyrgro meanest tvol bmratio size ab; run; I tried this but obviously doesn't work since it does not recognize the data input, I've been searching but I can't seem to find a proper example of how the code of an hausman test looks like. On the SAS site I neither find the code one has to use to perform a fixed/random effects model. My data has 1784 observations, 578 different firms (cross section?) and spans over a 2001-2006 period in months. Any help?

• Inserting null fields with dbi:Pg

  I have a Perl script inserting data into Postgres according to a pipe delimited text file. Sometimes, a field is null (as expected). However, Perl makes this field into an empty string and the Postgres insert statement fails. Here's a snippet of code: use DBI; #Connect to the database. $dbh=DBI-connect('dbi:Pg:dbname=mydb','mydb','mydb',{AutoCommit=1,RaiseError=1,PrintError=1}); #Prepare an insert. $sth=$dbh-prepare("INSERT INTO mytable (field0,field1) SELECT ?,?"); while (<){ #Remove the whitespace chomp; #Parse the fields. @field=split(/\|/,$_); print "$_\n"; #Do the insert. $sth-execute($field[0],$field[1]); } And if the input is: a|1 b| c|3 EDIT: Use this input instead. a|1|x b||x c|3|x It will fail at b|. DBD::Pg::st execute failed: ERROR: invalid input syntax for integer: "" I just want it to insert a null on field1 instead. Any ideas? EDIT: I simplified the input at the last minute. The old input actually made it work for some reason. So now I changed the input to something that will make the program fail. Also note that field1 is a nullable integer datatype.

• .NET: Allow NULLS in DB fields?

  Hi there, I have the task of re-factoring an SQLServer DB.... A lot of the tables and columns "ALLOW NULLS", Is this good practice... I seem to remember the authour of CSLA.NET saying it was really bad practice to allow nulls in a DB... If this is the case, what are my alternatives? Remove all "ALLOW NULLS" from all columns.... and in numeric columns use a value of -1 for example?? I would really appreciate any input anyone has. I am currently using a Model (from entity framework) from my DB and the db columns that "ALLOW NULLS" are null ... and some of the stored procedures require that i have a default value... i.e. BOOLEAN require FALSE as default ... but it is null.. Well i don't want to stray from my original question, ALLOW NULLS are a bad thing from what i can gather .... so how do i fix this ? Any help really appreciated

  I'm currently working with the SoundCloud API and would like to have a track embed when a button is clicked. I get two errors: XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://soundcloud.com/oembed.json?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F48419073. Origin null is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.   I get the error in subj when I'm trying to run specs or generators in a fresh rails project. This happens when I add shoulda to the mix. I added the following in the config/environment.rb: config.gem 'rspec', :version => '1.2.6', :lib => false config.gem 'rspec-rails', :version => '1.2.6', :lib => false config.gem "thoughtbot-shoulda", :version => "2.10.2", :lib => 'shoulda', :source => "http://gems.github.com" I'm on OSX. ruby 1.8.6 (2008-08-11 patchlevel 287) gems 1.3.5 rails 2.3.4 rspec - 1.2.6 shoulda - 2.10.2 test-unit - 2.0.3 I'm aware of this and adding config.gem 'test-unit', :lib => 'test/unit' indeed solves the genrator problem as it doesn't throw an exception, but it prints 0 tests, 0 assertions, 0 failures, 0 errors, 0 pendings, 0 omissions, 0 notifications at the end of the run so I suppose it tries to run tests which is unexpected and undesired, also the specs stop to run at all, seems like rspec is not running at all, when running rake spec I get the test-unit output again (with 0 tests as there are only specs, no tests defined)

• Sensible unit test possible?

  Could a sensible unit test be written for this code which extracts a rar archive by delegating it to a capable tool on the host system if one exists? I can write a test case based on the fact that my machine runs linux and the unrar tool is installed, but if another developer who runs windows would check out the code the test would fail, although there would be nothing wrong with the extractor code. I need to find a way to write a meaningful test which is not binded to the system and unrar tool installed. • Best way to test a Delphi application

  I have a Delphi application that has many dependencies, and it would be difficult to refactor it to use DUnit (it's huge), so I was thinking about using something like AutomatedQA's TestComplete to do the testing from the front-end UI. My main problem is that a bugfix or new feature sometimes breaks old code that was previously tested (manually), and used to work. I have setup the application to use command-line switches to open-up a specific form that could be tested, and I can create a set of values and clicks needed to be done. But I have a few questions before I do anything drastic... (and before purchasing anything) Is it worth it? Would this be a good way to test? The result of the test should in my database (Oracle), is there an easy way in testcomplete to check these values (multiple fields in multiple tables)? I would need to setup a test database to do all the automated testing, would there be an easy way to automate re-setting the test db? Other than drop user cascade, create user,..., impdp. Is there a way in testcomplete to specify command-line parameters for an exe? Does anybody have any similar experiences.

• logrotate isn't rotating a particular log file (and i think it should be)

  Hi all. For a particular app, i have log files in two places. One of the places has just one log file that i want to use with logrotate, for the other location i want to use logrotate on all log files in that folder. I've set up an entry called millionaire-staging in /etc/logrotate.d and have been testing it by calling logrotate -f millionaire-staging. Here's my entry: #/etc/logrotate.d/millionaire-staging compress rotate 1000 dateext missingok sharedscripts copytruncate /var/www/apps/test.millionaire/log/staging.log { weekly } /var/www/apps/test.millionaire/shared/log/*log { size 40M } So, for the first folder, i want to rotate weekly (this seems to have worked fine). For the other, i want to rotate only when the log files get bigger than 40 meg. Then, when i changed the config and ran it again, it won't do any more since it think's its already had its weekly run, or something. Can anyone see what i'm doing wrong? Is it to do with those top folders being owned by root rather than deploy do you think? thanks, max

  Hi, Is it possible to create a pom file so it can be used inside another pom to add test scope dependencies? So in module E's pom.xml I have: <dependencies> <dependency> <groupId>com.example</artifactId> <artifactId>D</artifactId> <type>pom</type> <scope>test</scope> </dependency> </dependencies> So that if D's pom.xml contains dependencies on artifacts A, B, C, then these artifacts are in the compilation and execution classpath of E's tests. NOTE: the reason I want such a pom, and not rely on regular dependency resolution is that I have created a tests jar using maven-jar-plugin:test-jar and using that jar as a dependency causes maven to not use its transitive dependencies. THE FIRST PROBLEM IS: Some P value are more than 0.05 and are still showing up! 2- I designed the program to give me a result of "This is wrong" when the Value of P is "NaN", I am getting results of "NaN" Here's a screenshot from the results do you know what the mistake i made with the command to get these errors? • JUnit Test method with randomized nature

  Hey, I'm working on a small project for myself at the moment and I'm using it as an opportunity to get acquainted with unit testing and maintaining proper documentation. I have a Deck class with represents a deck of cards (it's very simple and, to be honest, I can be sure that it works without a unit test, but like I said I'm getting used to using unit tests) and it has a shuffle() method which changes the order of the cards in the deck. The implementation is very simple and will certainly work: public void shuffle() { Collections.shuffle(this.cards); } But, how could I implement a unit test for this method. My first thought was to check if the top card of the deck was different after calling shuffle() but there is of course the possibility that it would be the same. My second thought was to check if the entire order of cards has changed, but again they could possibly be in the same order. So, how could I write a test that ensures this method works in all cases? And, in general, how can you unit test methods for which the outcome depends on some randomness? Cheers, Pete

• Write Null/Nothing value with Databinding

  I have extended a MaskedTextBox component to add some functionality. The text property of the extended MaskedTextBox is bound to a DateTime? property and the format of binding is set to a time format of "HH:mm:ss" (i.e. 24hr time). So that this masked text box will capture the display a time. The extra functionality I have added is to make the component readonly unless the component is double clicked or the enter button is pressed (the back color of the control helps to inform the users if the component is locked/readonly or not). When the enter button is pressed I also suspend the bindings so that bound data is updated the users input won't be lost. The information is then written back to the value and databindings resumed when the user presses the enter key again. This all works fine up to here, with values written and displayed as would be expected. However, I also want to write the null or nothing value to the DateTime? property if the user hasn't entered any text (or invalid text but let's just stick with no text) when enter key is pressed to submit the new value. Unlike with other valid entries in the MaskedTextBox, with no text entered when i execute: Me.DataBindings("Text").WriteValue() (when 'locking' the MaskedTextBox) it then branches to the bound properties Get method as I step into each line of code in the debugger (as opposed to the Set method with other valid entries) How can I write this null/nothing/"" value to the DateTime? property when no text "" is entered into the MaskedTextBox? • getPackage() returning null when my JUnit test is run from Ant

  I'm having problems running a JUnit test. It runs fine in Eclipse, but now I'm trying to run it from the command-line using Ant. The problem is that the following code is returning null: getClass().getPackage(). I Googled for this sort of error, and found a number of references to classloader misbehaviour. But I've found nothing gave me enough information to solve my problem. • Visual Studio Unit Test failure to start

  Hi, I am having an issue when starting the tests under debug mode in Visual Studio 2008 Team Test where it gives the following error: "Failed to queue test run '{user@machinename}': Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I googled for the error but no joy. Don't even understand what it means as it is too brief. Has anyone come across this? Note that I can run tests fine if I am not debugging and I get the same error irrespective of the test I run. Edit I got rid of that test. The draw method has been removed from my unit tests. I'll just have to manually test it works. The reversing of the order though was taken into a seperate test class where it was tested so it's not all bad. Thanks for the link about the feature they are looking into. I sure hope it gets added soon, very handy.
